FG Introduces N450 Billion Subscription Offer

0

Three Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) bonds totaling N450 billion are being offered for subscription by the Federal Government.

The DMO revealed this in yesterday’s January 2025 FGN Bond Auction Results.

The first bond available is a N100 billion April 2029 FGN bond, which has a five-year reopening period and a yearly interest rate of 19.30 percent. The second offer is the seven-year reopening of a N150 billion FGN bond issued in February 2031, with an annual interest rate of 18.50 percent.

The third offer is a N200 billion, ten-year reopening of a FGN bond issued in January 2035. These bonds are scheduled to go up for auction on January 27 and settle on January 29.

A minimum subscription of N50 million is required to purchase the bonds, which are then offered in multiples of N1,000 at a price of N1,000 per unit.

The DMO explained that winning bidders will pay a price equal to the yield-to-maturity offer that clears the auction volume, plus any interest that has accumulated, for reopenings of previously issued bonds.

The principal amount of the bonds is scheduled for bullet repayment at maturity, while interest is paid on a semi-annual basis. The Federal Government of Nigeria completely backs these bonds, which are imposed on Nigeria’s general assets.

They are government securities under the Company Income Tax Act and the Personal Income Tax Act, which exempts pension funds and other associated institutions from paying taxes. They also qualify as securities in which trustees may invest under the Trustee Investment Act.

Additionally, the bonds are listed on the Nigeria Exchange Limited and are considered liquid assets for banks’ purposes of calculating liquidity ratios.

The DMO’s offering offers both domestic and foreign investors appealing investment options while reaffirming the government’s commitment to raise money for important national projects and the N13 trillion 2025 budget deficit financing.

Tanker Fire Tragedy: Ohanaeze Youths Demand Urgent Action on Enugu NNPCL Depot

0

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL, has been urged to revive the dormant Enugu depot by the youth arm of the largest Igbo sociocultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide.

The call was made in response to the terrible event that took more than 20 lives along the Ugwuonyeama portion of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

According to reports, a tanker carrying fuel lost control, smashing multiple cars before catching fire.

Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide, called the death toll tragic in a statement released on Monday.

According to Okwu, it serves as a sobering reminder of the hazards that fuel tankers bring to the roadways and the poor quality of the majority of Nigerian roads.

In addition, he pointed out that it was a call to action for the NNPCL to utilize the Enugu facility and relieve the tension of tanker drivers.

We are all aware that the Enugu depot has been inactive for a number of years, even though oil marketers have pleaded with the NNPCL to take it into consideration.

“Moving the goods all the way from Lagos to Port Harcourt does no good for anyone, except than raising the price of fuel in our zone.

One such preventable action was the Saturday incident, in which the fully laden car lost control while descending the lethal hill.

“With this letter, we fervently urge the NNPCL to immediately begin operations at the Enugu depot.”

Additionally, Okwu emphasized that “the casualty figure would have been less if the lanes were in use” and encouraged the Federal Ministry of Works to expedite the completion of the Expressway’s second lane.

“Whatever is holding up that project should be fixed; in the public interest, the government and the contractor should work out their differences.”

The young people of Ohanaeze sent their condolences to the relatives of the accident victims and prayed to God for eternal rest for their souls.

We are aware that the accident destroyed some families. All we can say at this point is, “May God accept their souls,” even if it is devastating and we are sad. “This is excessive,” Okwu bemoaned.

FRSC: 411 Nigerians Died in 2024 While Scooping Fuel from Tankers

0

According to the Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 411 people died nationwide in 2024 while collecting fuel from downed tankers.

This was said by FRSC corps marshal Shehu Mohammed to commemorate the end of Monday’s “Operation Zero Tolerance” special patrol blitz in Abuja.

Mr. Mohammed clarified that the hazardous practice of collecting fuel from downed tankers was the main cause of the high death toll in the nation.

He stated, “It is important to emphasize at this point that, of the total number of deaths that took place in 2024, 411 deaths, or 7.6% of the total number of deaths, were not primarily caused by the crashes but rather a secondary factor, which is the very monster we are fighting today: scooping of fuel from fallen tankers.”

When they gathered to pick up fuel that had spilled on the road, a fuel tanker explosion in Niger State last week claimed the lives of at least 98 individuals.

But Mr. Mohammed also disclosed that 5,421 people died in traffic accidents across the country in 2024, a 7% rise from the 5,081 deaths in 2023.

He clarified that between January 1 and December 31, 2024, 9,570 traffic accidents were reported nationwide.

Additionally, there were 31,154 injuries in 2024 compared to 31,874 in 2023, which is a 2% drop.

“But, the corps reported a 7% rise in fatalities, with 5,421 people killed in 2024 compared to 5,081 in 2023,” Mr. Mohammed stated.

According to the corps marshal, the most catastrophic crashes happened in Jebba, Kwara State, where 30 persons lost their lives. Other big crashes happened in Plateau, Abia, Kaduna, Kwara, and Ondo States.

He claimed that even though there was a 10% decrease in the overall number of traffic accidents in the country—9,570 in 2024 as opposed to 10,617 in 2023—the number of fatalities increased.

However, he blamed human causes including exhaustion, overloading, and careless driving for the rise in fatalities.

“When compared to the annual record of 2023, an analysis of our annual performance shows that from January to December 2024, the corps recorded a drastic reduction in road traffic crashes as well as in the number of people injured,” Mr. Mohammed stated.

Fact-Check: Trump’s 2025 Speech at World Economic Forum in Davos

0

Donald Trump, who was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, spoke digitally to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday of last week.

From January 20 to 24, hundreds of prominent public personalities, including numerous heads of state and government and international CEOs, convened in Davos, Switzerland, for the WEF’s 2025 annual conference. The event offers world leaders a rare chance to collaborate, share ideas, and look into ways to solve these difficult problems.

Collaboration for the Intelligent Age is the topic of this year’s WEF. In order to tackle pressing issues like the climate crisis, economic injustice, and geopolitical instability, the theme draws attention to the widening gaps in the international community and stresses the necessity of taking coordinated action.

Trump discussed his goals for the future of the United States and the state of the US economy during the previous government, among other international topics, during the occasion. In this fact-check, we examine some of his statements to verify their veracity and offer context.

CLAIM #1
In the last four years, the United States government has spent $8 trillion on unnecessary deficit expenditures.
The FactCheckHub’s findings indicate that the assertion is MOSTLY TRUE.

In November 2020, Joe Biden defeated Trump in the presidential election and was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

The Bipartisan Policy Center’s statistics reveals that the budget deficits during the Biden administration were $2.8 trillion, $1.4 trillion, $1.7 trillion, $1.8 trillion, and $710 billion for FY 2021, FY 2022, FY 2023, FY 2024, and FY 2025 thus far. This is equivalent to $8.41 trillion.

We were unable to independently confirm whether or whether the deficit spending over the previous four years was wasteful, though.

THE CHOICE
Data that is readily available to the public supports the assertion that the US government spent $8 trillion on deficit spending in the recent past.

CLAIM 2: The present rate of inflation is 50% higher than the historical goal.
The results of The FactCheckHub’s checks indicate that the assertion is MOSTLY TRUE.

A long-term inflation target of 2 percent was set by the US Federal Reserve, the country’s central banking system. The goal of this target is to support both sustainable economic growth and price stability. The Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) goal is to keep longer-term inflation expectations firmly anchored at 2% by aiming for inflation that averages 2% over time.

But according to the monthly consumer price index (CPI) report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual inflation rate in the United States was 2.89 percent as of December 2024, up from 2.75 percent in November, which was 45 percent higher than the target. We cannot definitively ascertain the rate’s % as of right now because the January 2025 rate has not yet been released.

THE CHOICE
It is largely accurate to say that inflation is currently 50% higher than the historical target; research indicates that it is actually 45% higher.

CLAIM 3: On his first day as US president, Trump signed an executive order declaring a national energy emergency.

The FactCheckHub’s findings indicate that the assertion is accurate.

According to the White House website’s list of presidential activities, one of the executive orders that Trump issued right after taking office on January 20, 2025, was to declare a national energy emergency. The United States’ ability to find, lease, develop, produce, transport, refine, and generate energy and essential minerals is not up to par with the country’s needs, he stated in the order.

Trump was quoted in a number of media reports from The Washington Post, Reuters, and The Guardian as stating that the past administration’s damaging and shortsighted policies were to blame for the country’s poor energy infrastructure and supply, which in turn exacerbates high energy prices that negatively affect Americans, particularly those with low and fixed incomes.

THE CHOICE
Based on the list of presidential activities and numerous media accounts, it is TRUE that Trump issued an executive order declaring a national energy emergency on his first day as US president.

CLAIM 4.
The world’s greatest oil and gas reserves are found in the United States.
THE FINDINGS According to The FactCheckHub, the allegation is untrue.

The US rose to the top of the world’s crude oil production rankings in 2018 and remained there until 2022, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Different kinds of businesses contribute to the world’s crude oil supply, which is processed by U.S. oil refineries from both domestic and foreign sources.

According to the US Energy Information Administration, the US is the world’s top producer of crude oil, with an average of around 13 million barrels per day in 2023, the highest level ever recorded, according to a 2024 Vox report.

The results of additional investigations showed that Saudi Arabia and Venezuela have larger oil reserves than the US. Saudi Arabia and Venezuela are the two nations with the largest oil reserves, with Nigeria coming in at number ten and the United States at number eleven.

According to the US Energy Information Administration, Saudi Arabia’s proven crude oil reserves are estimated to be 267 billion barrels, which is a substantial amount more than the US’s about 36 billion barrels.

THE CHOICE
The assertion that the United States possesses the most oil and gas of any nation on the planet is untrue; although the United States is the world’s greatest producer of crude oil, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela have larger oil reserves than the United States.

CLAIM 5 Over the past four years, the Biden administration has increased regulatory costs for the typical American household by $50,000.

THE FINDINGS The claim is half true, according to the FactCheckHub’s checks.

Although the Biden-Harris Administration had just four years to implement regulations, compared to Obama’s eight, the Biden-Harris Administration nearly doubled those costs, according to a report by the US House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

According to the report, the entire regulatory burden may reach $47,136 per American home, which detractors claim might have a detrimental effect on American households and the economy.

The severity of the rules under former President Biden was described in another piece by the City Journal. According to some calculations, Biden’s laws could cost a family $47,000 over the course of their lifetime.

The paper also raises concerns about the regressive nature of these restrictions, alleging that low-income households are disproportionately burdened with them. According to the report, after controlling for financial constraints, low-income families may have to pay seven times as much in regulatory fees than wealthy households.

According to the primary conclusions of another Unleash Prosperity analysis, the Biden-Harris administration is expected to impose net present value regulatory expenses per household of $47,000 from rules finalized during its first term.

THE CHOICE
While reports confirmed that the US administration in the immediate past did in fact impose additional regulatory costs, they also showed that the figure is approximately $47,000. Therefore, the claim that the Biden administration imposed $50,000 in additional regulatory costs on the average American household over the last four years is just half true. That is a discrepancy of around $3,000.

CLAIM (6)
Trump signs an executive order declaring that citizen speech would no longer be classified as disinformation or misleading, ending government censorship.

The FactCheckHub’s findings indicate that the assertion is accurate.

Donald Trump issued dozens of executive orders on the day of his ceremonial inauguration as the 47th president of the United States. These directives address recruiting government employees, commerce, immigration, civil rights, and U.S. overseas aid to promote demographic diversity.

Concerns have been raised by some of the executive orders, primarily online and among US citizens. For example, there have been public discussions about the decision to terminate birthright citizenship, particularly among the nation’s immigrants. Additionally, according to media sources, a US federal judge has stopped that specific order’s implementation.

In order to confirm the assertion, our fact-checkers looked at the White House website’s list of presidential actions signed by Trump and discovered that measures to stop government censorship were included.

On January 20, 2025, Trump signed 60 executive orders, including one titled “Restoring Freedom Of Speech And Ending Federal Censorship.”

THE CHOICE
It is accurate to say that Trump signed an executive order on January 20, 2025, directing the government to stop censoring citizen expression among other presidential acts.

CLAIM 7: The amount spent on defense by NATO was 2%.

Click HERE to leave a comment on this article ✇
The FactCheckHub’s findings checks indicate that the assertion is accurate.

A military alliance, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was established in 1949 with the goals of promoting stability and security among its member nations as well as collective defense.

NATO was created to oppose the Soviet Union during the Cold War, but its mandate now encompasses a wider variety of security issues. From North America to Europe, as of January 2025, 32 nations are members of NATO. These nations are sovereign governments known as NATO Allies, and they use NATO to discuss political and security concerns and reach decisions as a group.

The money that a national government (apart from regional, local, and municipal governments) spends on defense is done so expressly to support its armed forces, as well as those of its Allies or the Alliance.

Our fact-checkers looked into the NATO Alliance report that was taken from its official website in order to confirm the assertion of the proportion that they send to the alliance. As of January 2025, it was found that the payment parameters for NATO allies have been jointly agreed upon since 2014 and are still set at 2% of the annual GDP of all member countries.

THE CHOICE
The assertion that NATO nations spend 2% of their yearly GDP on defense is accurate, according to data from the NATO website.

Ooni’s Intervention Leads Afe Babalola to Drop Case Against Farotimi

0

Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University, which is situated in Ado, Ekiti State, has consented to abandon the defamation lawsuits he filed against lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.

Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, and other prominent traditional leaders in the South-West intervened after this.

In an Ekiti State police commissioner’s plea, Babalola claimed that Farotimi had defamed him in a book he wrote. Farotimi was detained by the police in Lagos State and taken to Ekiti State, where he was charged in two courts. He was ultimately held for weeks by the courts.

After the monarchs intervened at midnight on Sunday, January 26, Babalola stated before ABUAD in the early hours of Monday, January 27, that he had consented to drop the lawsuits.

The senior attorney promised to order his attorneys to drop the lawsuit.

The Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, the Ajero of Ijero Ekiti, the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, the Oloye of Oye Ekiti, and the Alaaye of Efon Ekiti were among the monarchs who accompanied Ooni to the gathering that Babalola held.

Babalola claimed to have emphasized the value of the Yoruba traditional institution throughout the conference.

“They have appealed to me regarding a criminal charge involving someone who claimed that I was corrupt; the monarchs are here,” Babalola added.

The nonagenarian claimed that he rejected all previous requests for him to drop the cases from the courts because he felt terrible that Farotimi had accused him of using bribes to win all of his cases.

Babalola claimed that other well-known Nigerians, such as former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Catholic Bishop Mathew Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese, and Oba Adejugbe, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, had contacted him to withdraw the prosecution against Farotimi.

He said that his decision to drop the lawsuits was finally influenced by the intervention of Oba Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, and other powerful Yoruba kings.

Babalola claimed that although Farotimi’s book included personal attacks on a number of judges, including those on the Supreme Court, he was especially troubled by the criticisms due to his lowly origins.

He clarified that he was driven by a desire to use his resources for the good of others rather than by a desire for wealth or other forms of personal gain. Babalola claimed that he would not profit from Farotimi’s incarceration or his pursuit of damages because he found joy in donating.

Speaking for the Yoruba monarchs, the Ooni asked Babalola to drop the legal action, telling him that “nobody can tarnish your name.” Your name is more valuable than gold and silver, and you have stood up for it by stating that no one should make fun of it.

Babalola’s important contributions to the advancement of Yoruba, Nigeria, and the world were recognized by Ogunwusi.

Since some of our elders in Yorubaland and even outside of Yorubaland have spoken, we are using our race while working with the traditional institution. You’ve been heard enough, and too much. Your name is still there. The esteemed traditional leader declared, “We have handled the situation in our own manner; we have taken the necessary action.”

According to reports, Farotimi was given N30 million bail by a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Friday, December 20.

Abayomi Adeosun, the court’s judge, granted him bail with two sureties who must be law-abiding citizens and the court seizing the defendant’s foreign passport.

Farotimi was prohibited from speaking to the media while the case was pending as part of the bail requirement.

Famous for his opposition to violations of human rights and support of justice, Farotimi was detained when Babalola filed a petition.
According to Babalola’s book, “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System,” the accused defamed him.

Abuja: Gospel Singer Denies Allegations of Killing Corps Member in Court

Despite having previously confessed to the murder of Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Abuja, GOSPEL singer Timilehin Ajayi has entered a not guilty plea.

Ajayi, 32, was charged with culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Penal Code, which carries a death sentence, and was arraigned at the Nasarawa State High Court on January 17.

Ajayi was sent to the Lafia Correctional Facility by the court pending additional hearings.
On January 12, while carrying Adaidu’s severed head in a plastic bag in New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Ajayi was taken into custody.

According to reports, he killed the girl at his home and, apparently motivated by jealousy over allegations of infidelity, dismembered her body into almost fifty parts, according to police investigations.
Ajayi admitted to the crime during his parade at the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters, saying he killed Adaidu while she was there out of jealousy and suspicions of infidelity.

He acknowledged mutilating her body with a knife and machete and putting the pieces in plastic bags.

We don’t always have each other, so I killed her. It was not my intention. That day it happened, and it happened. She was cheating, so it’s not like I had the plan in mind.

However, Ajayi entered a not guilty plea at his court appearance on Monday, January 27, which infuriated the public and led to calls for justice from Adaidu’s family and advocacy groups.

Enone’s Future: How Okanga’s ICT Empowerment Is Reshaping Communities

0

In an increasingly interconnected world, the importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) cannot be overstated. Okanga’s ICT initiative, a transformative project introduced in his manifesto, promises to break down geographical barriers and bring the global village closer to reality. Over the past year, this visionary project has already impacted over 300 people from Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo Local Governments, empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a digital world. But what exactly is the significance of this initiative, and how is it shaping the future of these communities?

ICT has become an indispensable tool for personal and professional development, and in today’s world, it is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian communication theorist, famously said, “The medium is the message.” His words encapsulate the profound impact that ICT has on modern society. The way we communicate, access information, and interact with others has been revolutionized by technology. In this context, Okanga’s ICT revolution is not just a matter of upgrading infrastructure but reshaping the very fabric of society in Enone.

At the core of this initiative is the empowerment of local communities through ICT education. By offering ICT skills training, Okanga’s programme equips constituents with essential digital skills, including basic computer literacy, internet usage, and software applications. These skills are crucial for participating in the modern economy, opening doors to a wealth of opportunities that were previously inaccessible.

Digital literacy has become a fundamental requirement for success in today’s world. It enables individuals to access essential information, engage with others across vast distances, and unlock new opportunities. Through Okanga’s ICT initiative, constituents are gaining the skills needed to navigate the digital realm confidently. Whether it is accessing information on health, education, or agriculture, constituents now have the tools to enhance their quality of life and make informed decisions.

Beyond personal empowerment, ICT is a powerful tool for economic growth. Okanga’s project is designed to foster entrepreneurship by providing constituents with access to online training, mentorship, and incubation programmes. With the skills acquired through these initiatives, individuals are able to create new businesses, explore untapped markets, and generate job opportunities within their communities. This focus on digital entrepreneurship is key to driving economic development and combating poverty, inequality, and unemployment.

The economic benefits of ICT empowerment extend far beyond the local level. By harnessing the potential of digital tools, constituents can tap into the global digital economy, gaining access to new markets and building global networks. This will not only stimulate local economies but also raise the profile of Enone on the world stage.

Another critical aspect of Okanga’s ICT initiative is its potential to drive civic engagement and enhance governance. ICT platforms enable constituents to actively participate in the democratic process, providing channels through which they can engage with policymakers, report issues, and track development projects. Through social media, mobile apps, and online forums, citizens can demand accountability, report corruption, and ensure that their voices are heard. This level of civic engagement can strengthen democracy, improve transparency, and enhance the overall effectiveness of governance.

Moreover, Okanga’s ICT revolution is contributing to the creation of a more informed and engaged society. By providing access to online educational resources, constituents are able to continue their learning journey and stay updated on important issues. With ICT, even remote communities can access vital information on healthcare, agriculture, and other sectors, thereby improving their livelihoods and enhancing overall well-being.

The far-reaching effects of this initiative also include the integration of cutting-edge technologies like nanotechnology and artificial intelligence (AI). ICT empowerment programmes can introduce constituents to these advanced technologies, which hold immense potential for solving challenges in areas like healthcare, energy, and agriculture. By leveraging AI, for instance, communities can develop intelligent systems that analyze data, predict trends, and provide valuable insights for decision-making. Similarly, nanotechnology can be used to create innovative solutions for pressing issues, further boosting the region’s development.

As Okanga’s ICT revolution continues to unfold, it is clear that this initiative has the power to transform Enone into a thriving global village. The digital divide is slowly being bridged, and more and more people are gaining the skills necessary to succeed in the digital age. The vision behind this project is one of continuity and progress, encapsulated in the motto, “Okanga 12 Disciples: Continuity and Progress,” and the mission, “4+4=8,” which reflects a commitment to sustainable development and long-term growth.

Through Okanga’s ICT initiative, Enone is poised to become a beacon of digital empowerment, where individuals are not only consumers of technology but also creators and innovators. The project serves as a reminder that when ICT is leveraged strategically, it can catalyze positive change, enhance livelihoods, and pave the way for a brighter, more connected future.

As the project gains momentum, Enone is steadily advancing toward becoming a global village, where geographical boundaries no longer limit opportunity. The ripple effect of Okanga’s ICT revolution will continue to spread, ensuring that every constituent has the tools and resources needed to succeed in the digital world. This initiative is not just about technology; it’s about creating a society where knowledge is accessible, opportunities are abundant, and progress is inevitable. Furthermore, through platforms like The Nigerian News Group, the impact of this revolution is being shared with a wider audience, amplifying the success stories of Enone’s transformation and inspiring other regions to follow suit.

Nigerian Military Takes Down 70 Terrorists in Borno Operation

0

According to the Defense Headquarters, 70 terrorists and their leaders were killed by Operation Hadin Kai forces during a clearance operation at the Timbuktu Triangle, a terrorist enclave in Borno.

In a statement released on Sunday, Edward Buba, the head of Defense Media Operations, stated that the military had begun a three-pronged assault on January 16 with the goal of eliminating the terrorist within the triangle.

Major-general Mr. Buba said that during the clearance operations, the troops documented multiple contacts with terrorists, leading to the deaths of nearly 70 of them, including three prominent commanders.

He claims that Talha, a Terrorist Special Forces Commander; Malam Umar, a Terrorist Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, a Terrorist Brigade Commander, were among the terrorist commanders eliminated.

To prevent soldiers from advancing and attacking, the terrorists used Person Bourne Improvised Explosive Devices (suicide bombers), Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Devices (suicide bombers in explosive vehicles), and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during the operations.

“Multiple terrorist attempts were thwarted by troops who were already familiar with the terrorist tactics, including shooting down the terrorists’ amateur drones,” he claimed.

However, Mr. Buba declared that 22 soldiers lost their lives as a result of the operations, while numerous others were injured.

Because of this, the media is prohibited from releasing the names of troop victims in order to provide their next of kin official notice.

“Overall, the operation is still going on, and the public will be informed of any new developments as they happen,” he continued.

CISLAC Condemns Attack on Kano Anti-Graft Chair, Urges IGP to Stand Against Political Pressure

0

The recent arrest and subsequent release of Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, PCACC, by Inspector General of Police, IGP, Monitoring Unit, has been denounced by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center, or CISLAC.

CISLAC characterized the episode as a blatant instance of “corruption fighting back” in a statement issued by its executive director, Auwal Musa-Rafsanjani. The group cautioned that such incidents weaken public trust and damage Nigeria’s collective anti-corruption efforts.

The circumstances of Rimingado’s detention were challenged by Mr. Rafsanjani, who pointed out that they seem to be related to the commission’s current investigations into a high-profile case involving assets purportedly tied to a well-known national figure within the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

According to reports, Mr. Rimingado was arrested on Friday night after properties thought to represent the profits of crime were seized.

The Kano Anti-Graft Agency conducted the investigation and prosecution of the former Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural Supply Company in compliance with a court judgment and its enabling law.

Later that evening, Mr. Rimingado was freed on bail; nevertheless, he was requested to appear at Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday for additional interrogation.

The Inspector General of Police must not permit desperate politicians to exploit his position to thwart anti-corruption initiatives or protect influential people from justifiable inquiries, Mr. Rafsanjani declared.

“Actions like these undermine public trust in the impartiality of state institutions and damage the police force’s reputation.”

He went on to say that such meddling undermines President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s professed commitment to accountability and openness and harms Nigeria’s reputation internationally, especially in the eyes of investors and the international community.

In order to guarantee that justice is served and Nigeria’s anti-corruption system is maintained, CISLAC emphasized in its conclusion that political meddling in law enforcement must be opposed.

Tax Reforms: Pro-Tinubu Group Lauds Faleke’s Support For President In NASS

0

James Faleke, the chairman of the House Committee on Finance and the representative for the Ikeja Federal Constituency, has received praise from the Tinubu Reforms Advocates (TRA) for his support of President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills.

The group claimed that Faleke’s work has been crucial in influencing the discussion surrounding the tax reform bills, which seek to modernize Nigeria’s systems for tax administration and collection, in a statement signed by its president, Gideon Unazi.

Faleke has taken the time to address concerns and promote a deeper understanding of the proposed legislation by educating his colleagues about the bills, Unazi acknowledged.

Faleke’s dedication to the President’s tax bills, he continued, went beyond simple support because he took proactive measures to guarantee their passage.

Unazi claims that Faleke led the charge to ensure that the members of the Finance Committee, which he chairs, were fully informed about the bill’s provisions so they could make wise decisions.

Furthermore, he claimed that Faleke conducted a great deal of lobbying, contacting and resolving the concerns of the vast majority of members nationwide, ultimately gaining a sizable amount of support for the executive bills.

Unazi stated that a wide coalition of lawmakers now support the bill because of his unwavering efforts.

Unazi pointed out that Faleke has continuously used his legislative authority to advance President Tinubu’s reforms and principles, making him one of his most dependable and devoted supporters.

The group claims that his lifelong study and spread of the Tinubu gospel is the foundation of his commitment to President Tinubu’s vision.

Faleke’s support for the bills, according to Unazi, demonstrates his dedication to President Tinubu’s vision and his commitment to Nigeria’s development.

“The Tinubu Reforms Advocates commend Rt. Hon. James Faleke, the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and the lawmaker representing the Ikeja Federal Constituency, for his steadfast support of President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bill,” Unazi stated.

“Faleke has shown himself to be a trustworthy ally of President Tinubu, using his position to support the tax reform bill. It is admirable that he has recently engaged with lawmakers from all six geopolitical zones, indicating his dedication to the President’s vision.

Faleke, one of President Tinubu’s most dependable and devoted supporters, has continuously used his legislative authority to advance the president’s reforms and principles.

He spent time addressing concerns and promoting a deeper comprehension of the proposed legislation by educating his colleagues about the bills. Faleke has played a significant role in influencing the discourse surrounding the tax reform bill.

His lifelong study and spread of the Tinubu gospel is the foundation of his commitment to President Tinubu’s vision. In fact, the introduction of President Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bill generated a lot of discussion throughout Nigeria, and many people hailed it as a revolutionary step toward reviving the economy.
