Breaking: Over 20 Bandits Storm Abuja Community, Kidnap Five, Including Family Members

Five residents, including a whole family, were abducted during Sunday night’s attack on the Chikakore neighborhood in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by no less than twenty armed robbers.

According to police sources on Monday, the attackers broke into the homes of their victims, including Adesiyan Akinropo, a Southwesterner, at approximately 11 p.m. in the Health Center extension axis in Chikakore.

“The man (Akinropo), his wife, and their visitor’s son were abducted. Another neighbor was then taken by the bandits, bringing the total number of victims to five.

“A woman was also hurt on the head by the criminals using the gun’s butt. She had to be sent to the hospital right away since she was bleeding heavily. Later, Byzahin division police officers arrived on the scene, but the attackers had already fled,” the source revealed.

It was discovered that a meeting to discuss the event had been set for Monday between the police officers and the community leaders.

According to one of the residents, the cops arrived one and a half hours after the incident.

“In Chikakore, the bandits have started attacking again. Here in this community, we require a police division. Although a five-bedroom apartment and land have already been constructed to house the cops, no deployment has taken place as of yet.

“In the Sunday incident, the policemen came one and a half hours after the bandits had escaped with their victims,” she said.

Our reporter’s attempts to contact the FCT police command for comment were unsuccessful since Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, did not return our calls.

In early January, bandits who had escaped from Katsina State’s Kankara Local Government Area set up explosives in the Chikakore village, which is only five kilometers from Kuchibuyi.

Police say at least two people were killed in the unfortunate explosion at an Islamic school in Kuchibuyi, in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

Police Apprehend Two Suspects Over Kidnap of Ex-AIG Odumosu’s Wife

The wife of a former Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu, Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, was abducted, and two additional suspects were detained by Lagos State Police Command operations on Friday.

Agbojule Smart, 27, and Keleke Michael, 30, are the suspects.

According to a statement released at Force Headquarters in Abuja, they were taken into custody by members of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad and the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.

N2.25 million, 11 live cartridges, and two locally made guns were found among the suspects, according to a statement published on the Nigeria Police Force’s X account.
The Lagos State CP Special Squad has arrested two suspects, Agbojule Smart’m’, 27, and Keleke Michael’m’, 30 years old, in response to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, ordering them to pursue the fugitives in relation to the abduction of Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General, AIG Hakeem Odumosu.

Early this morning, Friday, January 24, 2025, the suspects were apprehended as they were leaving Lagos State. They admitted to their crime during questioning, and they were part of a four-person group, two of whom had already been eliminated.

The statement stated, in part, that “two million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N2,250,000), which was part of the requested ransom, two locally fabricated rifles, and eleven live cartridges were recovered from the suspects upon their arrest.”

The release also stated that Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun praised the agents “for their bravery in capturing these criminals and urges them to uphold this high level of proficiency in combating crime in all its forms.”

Folashade Odumosu, the wife of the retired AIG, was kidnapped last Thursday at the entrance to her home in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The abductors dragged the former AIG’s wife out of her Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and drove her through a marsh to an unidentified location.

According to reports, members of the Nigeria Police Force saved Mrs. Odumosu. On Wednesday, she was free again.

It was learned that the operation that saved the retired AIG’s wife was headed by Lanre Ogunlowo, the commissioner of police for Ogun State. It was said that during the operation, some of the kidnappers were neutralized.

In an X post on Saturday, Dada Olusegun, Tinubu’s social media assistant, stated that more than 100,000 goods had been purchased to empower young people nationwide.

“The reform aims to connect youth not only through training but also by connecting them directly to the market space and private sector, whereby acquired skills are translated into viable job opportunities,” he wrote.

In support of this, more than 100,000 items have been purchased to empower young people across.

The minister further stated that N32.7 billion has been allocated by President Tinubu to conduct the National Social Investment Program in 2025.

“Cooperative clusters will provide low-interest loans of N300,000 to N400,000 to Nigerians.

Through the development or expansion of small companies, the project seeks to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable Nigerians, especially women and young people.

“All Nigerians who have had to endure continuous economic reforms as the administration works to realize the #RenewedHope Agenda will reap rewards in 2025.”
