President Bola Tinubu claims that his administration is committed to bringing Nigeria to the “promised land” and is inspired by the National Assembly’s backing during the past 19 months.

In Lagos on Wednesday, the president gave a speech to the National Assembly’s leadership, past principal officers, and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“Everything we do has Nigerians at its core. Our purpose is to serve.

We have set out on a journey of transformation for all of us. It’s for our future. It is intended for the next generation. Your dedication will pay off for the unborn children.

The president remarked, “Your dedication to value addition and fostering the spirit of can do and must do is for all of us together.”

The president acknowledged the parliamentarians’ encouragement and promised to put in more effort, embrace intellectual curiosity, and make brave choices for the advancement of the country.

“In Yoruba, we have a saying that only a brave dog will catch the animal in the bush,” he continued.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio reassured Mr. Tinubu that the National Assembly was fully behind his government and praised him for his bravery and dedication to reform.

“You are not alone on this path to healing, change, and rebuilding the country.

He declared, “The National Assembly is with you and will support you.”

Mr. Akpabio emphasized the Tinubu administration’s promising economic future, pointing to successes like Nigeria’s Eurobond’s oversubscription, increased ease of doing business, and rising trust among international investors.

“We applaud your audacious reforms and respect our men in uniform. Because to your leadership, investors are still interested in Nigeria, and we will keep grinning as the advantages become apparent,” he continued.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, praised the president for his support and regard for the National Assembly.

He claimed that a number of important members of the administration had previously served in the National Assembly, including the president, vice president, president’s wife, chief of staff, secretary to the federation’s government, and multiple ministries.

“To God be the glory, Mr. President, the National Assembly is more united today than ever before. The National Assembly should count itself fortunate.”

“There is nothing we have ever asked for in the National Assembly that you have not complied with, so the National Assembly is more fulfilled than ever before.”

In 2025, Afam Osigwe, the president of the Nigerian Bar Association, plans to step up his efforts to uphold human rights and the rule of law.

This was said by Mr. Osigwe in his Wednesday New Year’s greeting to Nigerian attorneys.

He claims that while he is in charge, the NBA will lead the charge in promoting adherence to human rights and the rule of law. He also plans to collaborate with security organizations to promote a more fair and just society.

He encouraged attorneys to promote cooperation, communication, and respect for one another, pointing out that the Nigerian Bar’s strength is its unity.

“It is a privilege to welcome each and every one of you to a new period of boundless potential, introspection, thankfulness, and redoubled resolve as we proudly enter the year 2025.

Additionally, this year will be characterized by heightened support for human rights and the rule of law. We will continue to be in the forefront of ensuring that citizens’ rights are respected and holding authorities accountable.

In order to promote a more just and equal society, the NBA president said, “We will work tirelessly to address issues such as police brutality, unlawful detentions, and other human rights abuses while partnering with stakeholders.”

Mr. Osigwe also repeatedly emphasized the importance of cooperation among bar members, pointing out that the NBA’s strength is its members’ solidarity.

“I encourage every NBA member to cultivate cooperation, communication, and respect for one another as we embark on the tasks ahead; together, we can overcome the challenges facing our profession and nation,” he continued.

“Let us remain a ray of hope, moral character, and fortitude for Nigeria.” I’d like to extend an invitation to everyone to join me in welcoming 2025 with bravery, tenacity, and a common future vision.

Nigerians have been cautioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, to refrain from corrupt activities in 2025 and to continue to be steadfast in their anti-corruption efforts.

Ola Olukoyede, the commission’s head, issued this warning on Tuesday, stating that fighting financial and economic crimes requires cooperation from all citizens.

In his New Year’s address to the populace, the head of the EFCC emphasized that combating corruption was essential to raising everyone’s standard of living in Nigeria and developing the country’s economy.

The chair of the anti-graft agency advised people to take advantage of the chances the New Year presents to renew their commitment to the principles of openness, responsibility, and honesty.

“By supporting anti-corruption activities, we may bring about any change and development we desire for our country.

“We have new opportunities in the new year to reaffirm our commitment to the principles of accountability, transparency, and probity.

He asserted that our commitment to honesty and responsible behavior is the only thing that can propel the economy to new heights and enhance our lives.

Olukoyede promised that the officers would not give up on pursuing justice and reassured Nigerians that the EFCC was on track to surpass its accomplishments in 2024.

“Our work is a national calling rather than just a job. We are aware of this and will always do everything in our power to advance the country.

In 2025, more corruption towers will be brought down. We have a clear focus and are fully committed,” he continued.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, claimed that when President Bola Tinubu took over from him last year, the economy was in a coma.

During his Monday constituency briefing and empowerment, Senator Akpabio, who represents the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial district, revealed this in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

He stated that the president was committed to improving the economy and affecting Nigerians’ lives regardless of their party, ethnicity, or religion.
“President Tinubu faced extremely difficult circumstances on the ground, and no one was envious of him. He stated that he was committed to changing the situation, so let’s support him in doing so,” he remarked.

“We are confident that we will ultimately advance the nation. Give him some time, and he will take us to our El Dorado. He has already done it in Lagos and will do it again in Nigeria.
