In order to guarantee success in the November Anambra State gubernatorial election, Labour Party candidates have allowed for a consensus candidacy.
Both George Moghalu and John Nwosu, who hail from Nnewi town in the state’s Nnewi North Local Government Area, are vying for the Labour Party’s ticket in the election to depose Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
On New Year’s Day, Moghalu told a news conference that if he and Nwosu cannot agree on a single candidate, it will limit the opportunities for Nnewi people and result in a waste of resources for both of them.

In reality, Nwosu is my in-law, but he’s also my brother and friend. We have a positive personal relationship and nothing is set in stone. Additionally, some of our relatives are also active in the town’s politics. In order to avoid wasting time and resources, I wouldn’t rule out the prospect of us getting together and talking.

“To make the Nnewi dream a reality, we must cooperate. Meeting is not impossible; politics is about human dynamics, so I don’t mind at all. In fact, the party constitution allows for it, so we can talk to make sure everything goes smoothly,” he remarked.

According to the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority’s (NIWA) immediate past managing director, the party’s triumph was what mattered.

We are collaborating on this because it is crucial that the Labour Party become the state’s administration.

“There is still plenty of time, so we will definitely meet. We were together in Onitsha yesterday, and we might yet come together and talk before the primary election,” he said.

Moghalu said he will provide the state with excellent leadership and criticized Governor Soludo’s leadership practices.

Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, has said that no force can stop President Bola Tinubu from winning the 2027 presidential election.
Zazzaga said in a statement released in Abuja on Friday, January 3, 2025, that he is confident Nigerians will vote in favor of Tinubu for a second term in government in 2027 since by then, his programs should have improved the country.
According to reports, Zazzaga, who is also a member of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council, made these remarks in response to remarks made by Kano State New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa.

Tinubu was recently warned by Dungurawa to expect loss if he decides to run for a second term in 2027.

Dungurawa asserted at a news conference in Kano on Thursday, January 2, 2025, that Tinubu’s policies, which are seen as harmful to the people, would cause Nigerians to vote him out in 2027.

“Just get ready for defeat in the next general elections with these severe anti-masses policies and your stance on them,” he warned. Dungurawa threatened Tinubu, saying that NNPP national leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would defeat him in 2027. “You either change them or we Nigerians together will change you,” Dungurawa said.

“It is only a question of time, but we will make sure that Tinubu leaves in 2027 and Kwankwaso, a true democrat, takes over, given these issues and many more that the APC government created.”

In 2027, Tinubu won’t be stopped by magic.
In reaction to the NNPP leader’s comments, Zazzaga underlined that Tinubu’s APC is guaranteed to retain the presidency in 2027.

Zazzaga claimed that Tinubu’s “courageous measures,” such as the removal of the gasoline subsidy and the floating of the Naira, were necessary steps to move the country in the right direction.

He stated that Tinubu should be commended for taking actions that, in his opinion, earlier administrations were hesitant to take and that he was confident Nigerians will soon benefit from these policies.

“Tinubu will not lose the 2027 presidential election due to magic. The APC government led by President Bola Tinubu will undoubtedly serve a second term in office. This is not because of the incumbency factor, but rather because the President is doing well and Nigerians would value his accomplishments by 2027.

“President Tinubu’s initiatives, like eliminating subsidies and floating the Naira, are essential measures that had to be implemented for the benefit of the nation.

“President Tinubu deserves praise for his bravery in making the choices that were essential to the nation’s existence because earlier administrations did not act appropriately.

“By the time the next elections roll around, Nigeria’s economy will have completely shifted back on the path of sustainable growth, leaving Nigerians with no option but to elect President Tinubu for a second term. The benefits of eliminating the subsidy and floating the Naira are already being felt.”

With the recent strengthening of the Naira in the foreign currency market, an improvement in the amount of oil produced, and an increase in foreign reserves, among other things, President Tinubu’s economic measures are already having the anticipated effect. Scarcity has already been eradicated by President Tinubu’s petroleum sector reforms, and we anticipate that Nigerians would eventually see additional price reductions for petroleum goods, which would reverse the nation’s inflation.

Zazzaga stated, “I think all Nigerians should support President Bola Tinubu’s administration to improve the situation in the country, and he deserves a second term to midwife these reforms, which are already bearing fruit.”

Tinubu is leading Nigeria in the right direction, as seen by his policies.
According to the APC leader, Tinubu’s proposed tax reforms, which he described as “pro-poor,” will benefit the general public and encourage the expansion of small businesses.

Zazzaga further underlined that the North-Central APC Forum had given Tinubu favorable grades in a number of categories, including infrastructure, the economy, security, appointments, and more, after assessing the performance of his administration and expressing support for his reelection.

“A review of President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives demonstrates that he is leading the nation in the right direction and must have the backing of all Nigerians to see it through to completion.

“The North-Central APC Forum assessed the Federal Government’s programs and initiatives, and it is clear that President Bola Tinubu has provided the North-Central with more possibilities than any previous president since Nigeria’s current democratic regime.

“The Tinubu administration has brought more infrastructure projects to the North-Central than any other president.

Insecurity in the North-Central region is much lower than it was during earlier regimes. Due to insecurity, it was previously challenging for our people, who are primarily farmers, to get to their farms.

However, Zazzaga continued, “the people can now go to farms to cultivate and harvest their crops because of the leadership provided by Mr. President, who has given marching orders to the Armed Forces and other security agencies.”

He emphasized that the North-Central APC Forum will campaign for Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, just as it did in the 2023 election.

As part of his New Year’s engagements, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, paid former President Olusegun Obasanjo a courtesy call.

Obi’s visit follows his meetings with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja and General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, the former military president of Niger State, in Minna.

On social media site X on Friday, Obi posted pictures from the meeting and thanked Obasanjo for the chance to talk about national issues.

“I traveled from Abuja to Lagos yesterday to visit His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, a father figure, leader, and former president of Nigeria, to wish him a happy new year and also to deliberate on issues of national concern,” he wrote.

Obi commended Obasanjo’s wise counsel and kind direction, pointing out that the former president is still one of the leaders that helped Nigeria flourish.

“He still contributes his wise voice to addressing the numerous issues confronting our country,” Obi stated.

Obasanjo presided over Nigeria as its president from 1999 to 2007 after serving as its head of state from 1976 to 1979.

President Bola Tinubu has been threatened by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to reevaluate some of his policies or face losing the support of Nigerians in the 2027 election.

Hashim Dungurawa, the party’s chairman, referred to the policies of the Tinubu administration as anti-people and urged the Nigerian government to make sure that measures that would lessen the suffering of the populace be put into place.

Dungurawa also urged Tinubu to stop enacting policies that go against the wishes of the people, saying that Nigerians have endured unspeakable suffering since the president took office on May 29, 2023.

“Get ready to lose in the next general elections with these harsh, anti-people policies and your refusal to change your mind,” he urged. We Nigerians will either change you or you will change them.

“On May 29, 2023, President Tinubu started implementing anti-people policies from the podium.”
These practices have persisted unabatedly, as if Nigerians had angered him. It’s just a matter of time until we make sure Tinubu is voted out in 2027 because of these problems and many more brought on by the APC government,” he stated.

In order to defeat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party in the general election of 2027, Salihu Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman, North West, of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has urged Nigerians to take action.

According to Lukman’s statement released on Thursday, Nigerians must concentrate on creating a political party that operates effectively and adheres to its own set of norms if they hope to accomplish this.

The APC, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, and all other currently registered political parties in the nation must be clearly distinct from such a functional political party, he emphasized.

“The Nigerian people may once again fail to meet their expectations for free, fair, and credible elections,” he stated. “This should focus on effectively structuring a political party so that internal competition can produce party leaders at all levels.

There needs to be a change in the way that potential candidates are forced to run by party leaders, who then declare them the winners.

“It simply means maintaining the status quo once the process of forming a new party fails to ensure internal competition and use it to produce leaders of the party.”

Nigerians have been reassured by former Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Minister Betta Edu that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigeria will be refined in the next year.

In a New Year’s statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate the start of 2025, she made this claim.

According to Edu, 2025 would be a year of transformation for Nigeria, opening up countless opportunities where hard effort leads to affluence for everybody.

She urged Nigerians to see the New Year as a new beginning that would bring their goals and dreams to life and fulfill the promises of “our renewed hopes.”

“2025 looms large above us like an unwritten chapter in a novel. We must write optimism and hope into it because we think the New Year presents us with a fresh start that will enable us to realize our goals and dreams.

“I am confident that the difficulties and struggles of 2024 will be fully resolved in 2025. President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda will be optimized this year, she stated.

“2025 holds immense promise for our dear country,” Edu continued. As present economic difficulties give way to a vista of hope and prosperity blossoms, this is a year when Nigerians will take control of their bright destiny.

She exhorted Nigerians to hold fast to their love for their nation and have faith in the current government’s ability to lift Nigeria out of its economic woes.

“Mr. President has good intentions, but they need time to show results. The Nigerian effort has my support. Nothing will ever alter the fact that I have always given Nigeria and Nigerians my all.

“I strongly encourage Nigerians to face the future with self-assurance and a profound sense that our difficult times as a country are coming to an end,” Edu continued.
