The message stated that the change was made to make sure that all preparations were made and that a number of innovations and improvements were made to make the test one of the greatest in history.

It stated that the rescheduling was also necessary to make room for the exercise’s expanded number of testing locations.

The main UTME will begin on April 25, 2025, while the mock UTME, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, will now take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

“The board acknowledges the necessity for creative solutions to maximize the simulated exercise’s intended purpose in accordance with international best practices and current research on examination procedures in our region.

Following a search on a Ponzi scheme academy in Abuja on Monday, 133 individuals were taken into custody by EFCC agents.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, confirmed the operation in a statement on Monday.

According to Oyewale, the suspects were captured at the Compensation Layout in Gwagwalada, Abuja, following the acquisition of useful information regarding the operations of the academy.

“Q University, often called Q-Net, was an academy that enticed young Nigerians with the promise of unattainable earnings.

Under the motto “Special Training for New Generation Billionaire,” the recruits received training on how to further recruit others.

By completing a “Independent Representative Application Form” featuring marketing slogans like “I’m a Champion,” “I’m Unstoppable,” and “I’m Infinity,” the suspects joined the scam.

‘Not True?’ – Femi Lazarus Replies Timi Dakolo on $150 Charge for School of Ministry

Singer Timi Dakolo criticized popular cleric Femi Lazarus for asking $150 for his school of ministry. Lazarus has responded.
Conflict reportedly arose between the two due to their divergent opinions on whether gospel singers ought to charge for their performances at church functions and festivals.
In a widely shared video, Pastor Lazarus criticized gospel artists who seek payment for their services, saying that they should put their faith in God’s supply above their own financial gain.

He maintained that rather than merely performing, gospel artists are ministers of the gospel.
Dakolo responded by strongly disagreeing with Pastor Lazarus’ viewpoint and charging that pastors force gospel singers to perform for free when they have other financial commitments.

Speaking again, Dakolo accused Lazarus in a recent post of charging $150 for pupils to attend his ministry school, which offers Christian instruction.

In apparent contradiction to his position on the fees for gospel singers, Dakolo brought up the fact that Lazarus charges for his school of ministry.

When asked about the cost by a netizen named Deeemaths, he responded, “But you charge $150 for your school of ministry? Could you just clarify it, sir? I mistook that for ministry.

Lazarus said simply, “Yes, it is a school.”

His answer suggests that the instruction and training his ministry school offers are worthy of payment.

‘Wike Led Us Into This Crisis Yet Faces No Consequence’ – Alban Nwapa

Alban Unoma Nwapa, a popular Nigerian artist, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for excluding the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the sentence imposed on Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and House of Assembly members.

The political situation in Rivers State reportedly prompted Tinubu to declare a state of emergency and suspend Fubara for six months.
Nwapa told journalists in Abuja that Tinubu should have brought Wike to order instead of declaring a state of emergency.

Nwapa, who ruled the airwaves with his distinct style of music from the late 1990s to the 2000s, said that Tinubu lacked the constitutional authority to remove Fubara and his deputy.
He also emphasized the financial ramifications of proclaiming a state of emergency, claiming that it wastes government money.

According to the musician, Tinubu’s actions set a poor precedent for Nigeria’s democracy.

He stated, “And to think that this man, Fubara, was democratically chosen by the people while the other person is only a minister, with no electoral worth in his own state of roughly 2 million eligible voters or more!

“And the most frustrating thing is that he has not been made to share in the punishment meted out to Fubara.

“In reality, no one has mentioned his name. His name was not mentioned by the Supreme Court, the Senate, the President, or anybody else! It’s terribly sad.

“Oh, my response is simple: the President should’ve called Wike to order rather than declaring a State of Emergency on Rivers.

“Calling Wike to order would’ve been the reasonable thing to do because he is the reason we got ourselves into this problem in the first place! The declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers has completely devastated the state’s democratic framework. It has mocked the entire democratic process.

“You suspended both the governor and his deputy, even though you lacked the constitutional authority to do so.

“Will the State House of Assembly also stop functioning for the next six months? Come on, this is crazy. Imposing a state of emergency is costly and inefficient.

“Of course, the money belongs to the taxpayers! So, calling Wike to order is far less expensive than making the foolish decision to declare a state of emergency. But, putting aside the financial implications, the severe harm it has caused to Rivers state’s democratic structure is what is most devastating. It is irritating. They will need a long time to recover from this setback.

“It’s like setting a dangerous precedent because now all other governors should expect anything to happen to them at any time.

“One morning, the President can simply wake up and decide he no longer likes the face of a specific governor, and then suspend him from office!” Is that the type of country we live in now?

And this National Assembly, na wa! It’s insane how people vote with their voices! Yes, I know they do a lot of odd stuff, but this one really shocked me. I was shaken.

“We know they do a lot of unthinkable things, but this voice vote to determine two-thirds is daylight robbery.”

“It stunned and startled me that they had the nerve to do this. A state with millions of eligible voters, and they do this?

“Then they didn’t care if there were any consequences to their actions. The aspect that confuses me is the voice voting; how can you decide two-thirds using voice voting? “This is insane.

halted For the purpose of removing Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen from the Nigerian Bar, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has formally petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee.
According to the petition, Senator Imasuen was previously disbarred from the New York Bar for significant crimes like as fraud, misuse of client funds, and non-cooperation with disciplinary authorities. The accusations are based on claims of professional misconduct.
On May 10, 2010, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department, reportedly permanently disbarred Senator Imasuen, according to the petition.

After a customer named Daphne Slyfield filed a formal complaint accusing Imasuen of embezzling legal fees, this action was taken. His U.S. law license was revoked after the court found him guilty of several violating professional behavior standards.

Senator Imasuen allegedly continued to practice law in Nigeria after being disbarred in the United States, posing as a lawyer and entering politics, according to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In addition to serving as the senator for the Edo South Senatorial District, Imasuen was elevated to the position of Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, which requires the highest honor.

Professor Joseph Ayodele, Vice-Chancellor, spoke at a press briefing on Monday ahead of the institution’s 29th convocation ceremony, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining discipline among staff and students.
He emphasized that the university will not accept any type of misbehavior.

“The University, under my direction, has lifted the bar for staff and student discipline to an exceptional standard. Our administration despises all forms of misconduct, and those who engaged in acts of indiscipline have been suitably sanctioned in accordance with the University’s policies,” he remarked.

The VC detailed the disciplinary penalties, revealing that three staff members were fired for abandoning their duty stations, one for sexual misconduct, and three others were restricted from holding leadership roles for three years.

In addition, nine employees had their appointments canceled, while 21 received warnings for other offenses.

In preparation for the convocation celebration on Saturday, March 29, 2025, Professor Ayodele revealed that 200 of the 16,446 graduates from the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic sessions will receive first-class honours.

A breakdown of bachelor’s degree classifications indicated that 5,406 students achieved second-class upper division, 9,076 received second-class lower division, 1,295 received third-class degrees, and four graduated with a pass.

The institution will also confer 162 PhDs, 242 master’s degrees, and 61 postgraduate diplomas.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for boosting the institution’s monthly subvention from ₦260 million to ₦410 million. This step has considerably helped clear pending staff pay and allowances.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended senator from Kogi Central, has refuted reports that she apologized to the Nigerian Senate leadership for the acts that resulted in her suspension.

On Monday, March 24, Akpoti-Uduaghan released a statement in which he called the reports deceptive and untrue.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said she never apologized to the Senate or to anyone about the subject, saying she stands firmly by her comments and conduct about the matter that resulted in her suspension.

“The rumors that I have apologized to the Senate and retracted my position are totally false,” she stated. I have not apologized to the Senate or anybody else for this subject, and I stand firmly by what I have said and done.
She went on to call the allegations regrettable, adding that certain people are out to mislead the public and misrepresent the facts.

Akpoti-Uduaghan pointed out that the difficulties she is currently facing are about maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy, not about herself.
“As these publications and rumors do not reflect my stance, I implore the public to ignore them. I’m still dedicated to justice, truth, and the people I represent.

“This is about the integrity of our democracy, not just about myself. False narratives will not scare me or coerce me into submission,” she continued.

Obasanjo Criticizes Africa’s Democracy: “Courts No Longer Guarantee Justice”

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed alarm about the health of democracy in Africa, claiming that because of its disconnection from the ideals and realities of the continent, democracy is not only failing but is dying.
At the 60th birthday celebration of former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha in Abuja, Obasanjo bemoaned the fact that African leaders now “grab everything illegally and corruptly” and advise the populace to “go to court,” even though he is aware that justice is still elusive.
In addition to calling for a system based on African traditions rather than a faulty adaptation of Western liberal democracy, the former president emphasized that true democracy should benefit everyone, not just a select few.

“If you are discussing the failure of African democracy, then the continent’s democracy has failed. Why has it not succeeded? Considering that it is not Africa in both context and content. He declared, “It has nothing to do with our culture, our way of life, our values, or our beliefs.”

He questioned the African definition of democracy further, pointing out that African civilizations had their own systems of government that worked well for their citizens prior to colonial control.

According to Obasanjo, “Are we discussing democracy or Western liberal democracy? We should keep in mind that, prior to colonial authority and power, Africa had a system of governance that catered to the demands of its citizens when we discuss democracy. Whatever you want to call it, I think it’s democracy. For what exactly is democracy? Government of, by, and for the people is how American President Abraham Lincoln described it.

A democracy is supposed to be a form of governance that serves the needs of all citizens, not just a select few or a subsection of the population. But today, what do we have? The Greek democracy, which brought people together and gave them a voice in decisions that affected everyone, has, in my opinion, been replaced by representative democracy, which has not done enough to accommodate everyone.

Obasanjo bemoaned how the existing democratic system denies the common people access to justice while enabling politicians to get rich through corruption.

“Today, we have democracy, which is the rule of a small number of people over a big number of people who fail to have access to the necessities of life. Democracy will not last like that.

“I am, because I am able to acquire.” What kind of democracy does it bring for you to seize everything; then, corruptly and criminally, you say, “Go to court.” when you are aware that justice is unattainable, even in the legal system.

“Democracy is dying, not failing, and if we want to keep it alive, we must examine democracy in the context and within the boundaries of Africa.” The democracy that will deliver is the one that we will have in Africa, and I hope that we will reach that point,” he said.

BREAKING: Land Dispute: Abuja Community Residents Abandon Homes After Soldiers’ Threats

According to information obtained, the army invaded the neighborhood on Sunday night and threatened to execute anyone who did not leave their houses within a day.

In an attempt to take land from native inhabitants, Nigerian Army soldiers are said to have invaded Tunga Maje in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory.

It was discovered that the army had invaded the neighborhood on Sunday night and threatened to execute anyone who did not leave their houses within a day.

Residents were seen hastily collecting their possessions in multiple recordings that were recorded out of concern that the military would destroy their homes.

According to a person with knowledge of the matter, “The Army is claiming their land.” They arrived yesterday and requested that they leave this morning in order to fence their property.

The entire community, according to one of the impacted residents in the videos, is terrified of the situation.

“You can see people taking things away, including their clothes and food,” he said. Last night, none of us were able to sleep. We were confronted by the Nigerian military, who threatened to destroy all of our homes and bothered us with a quit notice.

“It began last week. We believed it to be a prank. However, they arrived this morning and started threatening to shoot us if we didn’t pack up our belongings. Now, everyone in the town is in danger. Even before the FCT was established, these houses had been around for donkey years.

“We are now forced to leave our houses. Where are we going? Through the local council, our senator, members of the House of Representatives, and even the president’s office, we have brought this situation to the attention of the administration. Why does the Nigerian military disregard the law? We’re homeless now. There is nowhere for anyone to remain. Watch our women get stuck. Where are we going today?

Claims of land ownership, court cases, and community demonstrations have all been features of the long-running and divisive land dispute between the Nigerian Army and the Tunga Maje community in the Federal Capital Territory.

Causes of the Conflict

The issue dates back to at least 2009 when the Nigerian Army declared sovereignty over land in Tunga Maje, stating it had been given to them for military use.

Conversely, the indigenous population, who have occupied the area for generations, believe that the land is their ancestral home and that they own genuine rights to it. They believe that the Army’s claims lack legal foundation and that no formal allocation was made to the military.

Tensions have increased over time, resulting in multiple conflicts between the military and the people.

Residents demonstrated against eviction orders allegedly given by the Nigerian Army at the National Assembly compound in 2016.

They emphasized that awaiting the resolution of legal proceedings, the Army was prohibited from acting further on the area by an existing court order. The Army allegedly carried on with their operations in spite of this, which sparked more discontent.

When Hamza Haruna Usman, a community member, was killed and others were injured during a confrontation between soldiers and Tunga Maje people in 2019, the situation worsened.

Road blockades and increased tensions resulted from the altercation, which happened during a demonstration against the Army’s purported annexation of their territory.

Tunga Maje’s native population has continuously opposed what they see as the Army’s unlawful intrusion.

They demonstrated against the military’s operations in December 2022, claiming that they had destroyed farmlands, demolished homes, and intimidated locals.

When the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) stepped in, Dalhatu Musa Ezekiel, the FCT Commissioner for the PCC at the time, pointed out that the Army had no formal land allocation and emphasized that then-President Muhammadu Buhari had previously ordered the military to leave the area.

The Present Situation

The conflict has not been settled despite numerous interventions and court cases. The Tunga Maje community firmly protects its ancestral rights, but the Nigerian Army persists in claiming the territory.
