Okanga Sisters Launch in Ezza Polling Units to Support Chief Dr. Philip Agbese’s Grassroots Vision in Ijigban Ward

Ijigban Ward, Ado LGA – In a bold step that reflects the saying “politics begins at home,” the Okanga Sisters under the Ijigban Ward Branch have extended their reach to all three polling units within the Ezza community — namely Amaka, Odumoke, and Ojaba-Ije. This grassroots expansion reinforces their dedication to community involvement, cultural awareness, and strong political participation.

The move is also a clear expression of loyalty to the grassroots-driven philosophy of Chief Dr. Philip Agbese, a servant-leader whose vision has inspired many across Enone and beyond. Plans are underway for the official inauguration of the new Okanga Sisters branches on Tuesday, a moment anticipated to further energize the local political atmosphere.

Politics is Personal: Taking the Message to the People

Politics doesn’t happen in isolation — it starts with families, neighborhoods, and local communities. This belief continues to shape the Okanga Movement’s strategy, as its members focus on reaching the people where they are, speaking their language, and addressing their realities.

By bringing the movement to Amaka, Odumoke, and Ojaba-Ije, the Okanga Sisters are doing more than expanding a structure — they are strengthening the bond between the people and those who seek to serve them genuinely. The message is clear: true leadership is felt first at the grassroots.

The Role of the Okanga Sisters in Community Mobilization

The Okanga Sisters are a vibrant and values-driven arm of the broader Okanga Movement. Their mission centers around mobilizing families, educating voters, and promoting civic responsibility — all while preserving the unique traditions of the Ijigban people.

Their expansion into the Ezza polling units not only widens the reach of the movement but also reaffirms their commitment to raising awareness on key political and cultural matters. By focusing on inclusion, the Okanga Sisters are creating space for women and young people to contribute meaningfully to community growth and leadership.

Cultural Relevance Meets Political Purpose

There is a natural connection between the people of Ijigban Ward and the Okanga Movement. The movement isn’t an outside force; it’s deeply rooted in local customs, values, and language. That connection is what makes this expansion into Ezza so seamless.

As one community leader put it, “Our people know Okanga, and Okanga understands our way of life.” This mutual understanding allows the movement to engage meaningfully with residents while also promoting the servant-leadership ideals championed by Chief Dr. Philip Agbese.

Anticipation Builds Ahead of the Inauguration

The upcoming inauguration of the Okanga Sisters in Ezza’s three polling units is more than a ceremonial gathering. It represents a defining moment for community participation, unity, and forward-thinking organization. Expected attendees include elders, youth leaders, political allies, and cultural advocates, all of whom share a common desire: to see development driven by the people themselves.

The Tuesday event is expected to mark a turning point for Okanga’s influence in the ward and energize discussions on responsible governance and collective progress.

Empowering Communities, Strengthening Democracy

The inclusion of Amaka, Odumoke, and Ojaba-Ije in the Okanga Movement’s growing structure is a positive sign of things to come. It shows that communities are ready to take ownership of their future and that movements like Okanga, built on cultural awareness and grassroots energy, are paving the way.

With the strong backing of Chief Dr. Philip Agbese and the dedication of the people, Ijigban Ward is positioning itself not only as a participant in politics but as a driver of meaningful change.

Indeed, the bond is unbreakable — the people believe in Okanga, and Okanga believes in them.

Peter Obi Pays Visit to Alabi Quadri After Prison Release, Makes New Assurance

0

During the 2023 Nigerian presidential campaign, Alabi Quadri, a supporter of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, visited with Obi.
After she bravely stood in front of Peter Obi’s campaign van during the general elections in 2023, Quadri became a national hero.
In 2025, the teen reportedly rose to fame once more as word broke that he had been wrongfully imprisoned at Kirikiri Prison on charges of armed robbery and felony.

When Obi revealed his existing circumstances, he instructed Inibehe Effiong, a lawyer, to investigate his case.

The Apapa Magistrate Court, Court 9, located at the Sikiru Adagun Courthouse in Lagos’ Orege, Ajegunle, acquitted and released Quadri on Thursday as a result of the legal intervention.
When he was released, the young youngster said he wanted to go back to school.

On Friday, Peter Obi revealed that he had met with the boy and will see to it that his want to go back to school was realized.

The former governor of Anambra State remarked that everyone who should be held liable for Quadri’s unlawful incarceration must be held accountable, while also expressing gratitude to everyone who helped secure the young boy’s release.

The young child whose tale touched us all, Quadri Yusuf Alabi, was the person I got to meet today. After a period of unfair and unlawful imprisonment, he is now free. I am extremely appreciative of the attorneys, lead by @InibeheEffiong, who battled for his release, as well as @DeleFarotimi and Ms. Hassana Nurudeen, whose unwavering support was crucial in ensuring the young man received justice.

One thing was quite evident while I listened to Quadri today: his relentless drive to learn. I will see to it that he receives his education because, in spite of everything that has happened to him, his one goal is to go back to school and finish his degree.

In addition to being inspirational, his tenacity is a call to action, and I’m determined to make sure he has the education he deserves and wants.

Additionally, we can’t end with his release. Those who unlawfully imprisoned him must answer for their actions. We cannot afford to overlook such criminal activity as we work to create a Nigeria where justice and integrity are the norm.

“I express my gratitude to the attorneys and all those who stood and persisted in their pursuit of justice.

In a statement posted on his 𝕏 account, Peter Obi stated, “Education, freedom, the rule of law, equity and justice, and the care and protection of the less privileged among us will stand as the foundation of our democracy.”

Honoring Heritage: Prince John Ali Oriri Engages Communities in Preparation for the Installation of the Okanga Sisters

0

In a powerful demonstration of cultural preservation and grassroots leadership, Prince John Ali Oriri, Vice Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, embarked on a significant tour across communities including Odumoke, Ojaba’ije, and Anmeka. His mission was clear: to engage stakeholders and mobilize efforts toward the successful installation of the Okanga sisters under the Ijigban ward.

This initiative marks a defining moment for the people of Ado LGA and the broader Okanga Movement Worldwide, as it affirms a collective return to roots, values, and tradition — with the Okanga sisters at the center of this cultural revival.

The Okanga Sisters: Pillars of Tradition and Cultural Identity

The Okanga sisters are more than symbolic figures; they are living embodiments of ancestral legacy and traditional authority. Their role in the Ijigban ward is both spiritual and communal — serving as custodians of wisdom, harmony, and continuity. For generations, the Okanga sisters have represented a sacred lineage, entrusted with guiding the community through the lens of tradition, morality, and cultural pride.

Their installation is not merely ceremonial — it is a reaffirmation of identity for the Ijigban people and a rekindling of indigenous values in a time when modernization often threatens to overshadow them.

The sisters embody unity, resilience, and leadership — a trio of virtues essential to the social fabric of Ado and its surrounding communities.

A Visit Rooted in Purpose and Respect

Prince John Ali Oriri’s recent visit to Odumoke, Ojaba’ije, and Anmeka was carried out with humility and intent. It wasn’t just about logistics or protocol; it was about listening. Listening to the elders, to the custodians of tradition, and to the voices of the community — especially women and youth — who recognize the deep significance of the Okanga sisters in today’s cultural narrative.

During his visit, Prince Oriri engaged in open dialogue with traditional leaders, spiritual heads, and residents, seeking their guidance and endorsement in ensuring that the installation process is handled with the reverence it deserves.

Key Focus Areas of the Visit

  1. Cultural Significance and Sensitization
At the heart of Prince Oriri’s outreach was an emphasis on the cultural essence of the Okanga sisters. He reiterated the need for the community to embrace the installation not just as a ritual, but as a moment of pride, unity, and revival. His words echoed a call for every son and daughter of Ijigban to support and participate in the occasion.

  2. Community Engagement and Ownership
Prince Oriri made it clear that this is not a government-imposed initiative but one that must be owned by the people. By engaging with local voices, the planning process reflects inclusivity, authenticity, and collective responsibility. It also ensures that the ceremony resonates deeply with the cultural conscience of the people.

  3. Logistical and Traditional Preparedness
Practical steps were discussed to prepare for the installation — from selecting an appropriate venue to coordinating guests, preparing traditional attire, ensuring adequate security, and upholding every customary rite. Prince Oriri committed to supporting the community in these preparations while respecting their lead in all cultural decisions.

  4. Preservation of Traditional Rites
Perhaps the most critical point of the visit was the reaffirmation that no traditional step shall be skipped. The Okanga sisters’ installation must strictly follow the ancestral path — from invocation rites to blessings by the elders and communal feasts. Each ritual is a thread in the fabric of identity, and missing one would unravel the integrity of the entire process.

Symbol of Commitment and Legacy

Prince John Ali Oriri’s leadership style, grounded in humility and cultural consciousness, has drawn widespread admiration. By prioritizing this visit and placing the Okanga sisters at the forefront, he has demonstrated a unique understanding of the delicate balance between political leadership and cultural stewardship.

His actions have rekindled hope among cultural advocates and have energized members of the Okanga Movement Worldwide, who see in this moment a long-awaited opportunity to restore the honor of their tradition.

Looking Ahead

As plans for the installation ceremony continue to unfold, the momentum around the Okanga sisters grows stronger. Community members are preparing with joy and pride, not only for the event itself but for the cultural awakening it represents. The Okanga sisters, once again, are becoming beacons of strength, resilience, and unity.

Their presence, soon to be formally installed and celebrated, will serve as a guiding light for generations to come.

Beware of Wike, He’s a Bulldozer – Fayose Tells PDP Governors

0

On Friday, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose referred to Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, as a bulldozer that the Governors’ Forum, PDP, and Peoples Democratic Party must use with caution.

If the PDP governors and Wike cannot come to an agreement, Fayose cautioned, the party might not have a presidential candidate in 2027.

In an interview with Politics Today on Channels TV, Fayose cautioned PDP governors and party officials against ignoring Wike’s recent warning.

“To further the party’s interests, the governors and the party leadership should find common ground with Wike,” the former governor said.

He remarked: “I want to quickly warn you that this Wike you are seeing is like a bulldozer, which you need to control or steer clear of.” You should be aware of an issue when someone says, “I’ll be at your house at a certain time,” and then he shows there.

According to the Wike fragments I saw before, “I’m warning now, I have said my own now.” We need to fix this issue by finding common ground before turmoil [erupts] because you can’t build something on nothing.

If the Supreme Court rules that Anyanwu is the National Secretary, then all prior rulings are null and void from the beginning. Where will this end? Who will submit a nominee to INEC? Who is unable to serve alone, Anyanwu or the National Chairman?

“We need to proceed with caution, to be honest—I haven’t met Wike in a long time—but proceed with caution. If you don’t believe me now, you’ll remember what Fayose told you when it comes back to haunt you.

“With all due respect to Buhari, what are you saying? I informed Nigerians in this way that he would ruin this country, and they all yelled at me to let him run his government, which he has done and left you hurt.

“A Wike says that if you disregard the Supreme Court’s ruling, then whatever occurs, then so be it. However, I want the governors to work with him to advance the party; if not, I want to think that the PDP would not have a candidate. It becomes an issue if you give in to Wike’s manipulation.

Gunmen Attack Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family Home in Kogi State

In a recent development raising concerns over personal security in Nigeria, unknown gunmen attacked the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Kogi State.

The assault took place in the early hours of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the senator’s residence in Obeiba-Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area. According to reports, the attackers, armed with cutlasses and firearms, stormed the house at around 1:00 a.m., damaging property and shattering windows before fleeing the scene.

This was revealed by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, April 17. Makama stated that the senator’s Chief Security Officer, Yakubu Ovanja, filed a formal report with the police.

“Following a distress alert, a team of security operatives from Okehi Division swiftly mobilized to the scene. While no casualties were reported and no arrests have been made, the premises were documented and preliminary investigations have commenced,” Makama reported.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown. However, police authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway to uncover the reasons and track down the perpetrators.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has not made any official comment on the matter as of the time this report was filed.

This incident comes amid rising security concerns across the country, particularly involving political figures and their families.

Hon. Philip Agbese Distributes Easter Rice Across Enone Constituency Amid Security Challenges

0

By John Unogwu Oche

In celebration of Easter, Hon. Chief Dr. Philip Agbese, Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, has launched a widespread rice distribution initiative for women across the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency (commonly referred to as Enone) in Benue State. This gesture of goodwill aims to bring relief and festive cheer to thousands of households amid ongoing security and economic challenges.

Easter Rice Initiative for Enone Constituency

Easter, a season that symbolizes sacrifice, renewal, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is often marked by acts of charity and kindness. In keeping with the spirit of the season, Hon. Agbese organized the rice distribution program to support families, particularly women, during this sacred time.

Initially planned to take place in Otukpo, the distribution exercise was relocated due to growing security concerns in Benue South. As a safety precaution, Hon. Agbese’s team opted for a decentralized approach, ensuring rice bags are delivered directly to all 35 Council Wards and two additional community divisions—carved from Ado and Ogbadibo Local Government Areas.

Empowering Women Through Community Leadership

To ensure transparency and effective delivery, the distribution is being handled by the Okanga Sisters—a non-partisan women’s group with chapters in all 35 wards of the constituency, plus two additional chapters: Ojigo 1 and Ojigo 2, and a dedicated chapter for the Izzi community in Ado LGA.

Hon. Agbese emphasized the decision to engage women leaders, stating that:

“Women are at the heart of every household. Their commitment to family welfare makes them the most capable hands to ensure equitable distribution of this Easter support.”

This new model aims to avoid past bottlenecks where such interventions often benefited only a limited number of people.

A Message of Hope and Unity

In his Easter message to the people of Enone, Hon. Agbese—fondly known as The Enone Servant—extended his warmest wishes, encouraging the community to remain united in faith, even in the face of economic and security adversity.

“This Easter, let us remember the love and sacrifice of Christ. Let us reflect that same love within our communities by supporting one another,” he said.

He further reiterated his commitment to grassroots development and people-centered representation.

Community Response

The rice distribution has been met with widespread appreciation across the constituency. Many beneficiaries have lauded Hon. Agbese for what they describe as a “timely and thoughtful intervention” during a season of reflection and renewal.

As the security situation in Benue remains a concern, this initiative serves not only as a humanitarian gesture but also as a morale booster for communities navigating difficult times.

Hon. Philip Agbese’s Easter rice initiative goes beyond charity—it reinforces his ongoing dedication to grassroots empowerment and community resilience. In a time of uncertainty, acts like these remind constituents of the strength found in unity, faith, and leadership that listens.

Ex-APC Chairman Quits, Says ‘I Refuse To Be A Political Prisoner’

0

Barrister Ben Nwoye, former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, has resigned from the party, citing serious internal conflicts and leadership breakdown as grounds for his departure.
Nwoye, a former Federal Commissioner at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) representing the South East, made the revelation during a press briefing at Enugu’s De Sheriff Hotel.
Nwoye, who was key in the establishment of the APC, expressed regret in the party’s loss of unity and coherence, referring to the APC’s symbol, the broom, which he described as “loosened and permanently scattered.”

He chastised the APC’s leadership in the South East for prioritizing “vindictive politics” over growth and inclusivity.
He claims that the regional leadership has been more concerned with silencing dissenting voices and political opponents than with growing the party’s influence.

He also highlighted ongoing factional disagreements within the APC in Enugu, disclosing that two competing factions are vying for dominance, with one supported by a judicial declaration and the other defying it openly.

Nwoye charged the national leadership with ignoring the situation and failing to respond to repeated requests for reconciliation from party elders, stating that faithful party members who disagreed with the central leadership were treated as “prisoners of political war.”

“I have engaged in extensive consultations with my grassroots followers, and I have come to the conclusion that it is time to move on,” Nwoye stated. She added, “I refuse to be a political prisoner.”

Nwoye went on to criticize the marginalization of other major APC personalities in the South East, including former Labour Minister Senator Chris Ngige of Anambra and Dr. Ikechi Emenike of Abia.

He stated that these people, despite their important contributions to the party’s development, had been ignored.

Nwoye’s departure is a major blow for the APC in Enugu, raising new questions about the party’s stability and internal democracy in the South East.

Galadima Knocks Ganduje, Says He Has No Political Clout

0

Engr. Buba Galadima, a prominent stakeholder in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has dismissed the political relevance of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, claiming that the former Kano State governor has no political value and owes his current position solely to President Bola Tinubu.

Galadima made the remarks in response to reports that the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was considering a return to the APC.

In an interview with the Guardian, he accused Ganduje of using the NNPP and Kwankwaso’s name to remain in the public spotlight.

“I’m hearing this from you. So, if we go to the APC, would Nigerians hear this from Ganduje? Even because of him, nobody wants to go to APC,” Galadima told The Guardian.

He also attacked the APC national chairman, stating, “Only Tinubu can make a Ganduje chairman of a party. “How can Ganduje be the chairman of anything?”

Galadima criticized the APC leadership as disoriented and attempting to remain relevant by circulating misleading information about the NNPP and its members.

“They’re the ones that keep us in the news because they’re confused. “Everything is coming apart across the country,” he remarked.

“These are the same folks that use social media and propaganda to disparage us in the NNPP. If they are not alleging Kwankwaso is working for President Tinubu, they would spread rumors that he is heading to France to lobby Mr. President.

He categorically refuted any talks or plans of Kwankwaso or the NNPP returning to the APC, saying, “There is nothing like that. “I can tell you for a fact.”

Galadima also criticized the APC’s fixation on the 2027 elections, claiming that only leaders who have failed their constituents resort to politicking midway through their tenure.

“Only political failures talk about the next election in the middle of their terms,” he said, emphasizing that the NNPP is still focused on providing responsible and responsive governance.

His statements were in response to Ganduje’s earlier remarks at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, in which the chairman stated that Kwankwaso was expected to return to the ruling party following the collapse of the NNPP after the 2023 elections.

NSCDC Arrests Seven and Seizes 7 Illegal Oil Dumps in Abuja

0

In Jahi/Katampe, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, seven people have been taken into custody by the CG Special Intelligence Squad, or CG SIS, on suspicion of running seven illicit oil dumps.

In a statement, National Public Relations Officer CSC Afolabi Babawale of the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja said that this was in accordance with the directive of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to conduct a vigorous campaign against oil thieves throughout the federation.

According to CG SIS Commander AS Dandaura, who conducted a thorough questioning with him, the operation that resulted in the arrests was a well-planned raid in response to a reliable intelligence report that certain suspected vandals were illegally refining petroleum products.

After receiving the intelligence, my team and I acted quickly, discovering five of the seven illicit oil dumps that were busted.

During the sting operations, the following suspects were taken into custody: Bello (M) 33 years, Anas Usman (M) 33 years, Jonathan Onekutu (M) 45 years, Uchenna Kelechi (M) 44 years, Chukwuma Solomon (M) 37 years, Monday Israel (M) 34 years, and Akande Olusola (M) 48 years aged.

The items listed below were recovered from the crime scene as exhibits: There was a white truck with registration number GYA-777XA that had three compartments and was fully loaded with 45,000 liters of AGO; a Mercedes Benz Short Peddler Truck 1202 model with registration number FST-425XB; four (4) Short Peddler Trucks with registration numbers RSH-197ZAN and SR-27YW; and two more that were not clearly marked with their registration numbers; A white-colored DAF CF KSF-161XQ; MAN Diesel Short Truck KWL-241XA; Volkswagen Bus RBC-140XF; red and white-colored DAF CF Short Peddler Truck with Reg. No. RBC-431XG; two (2) counting machines; Toyota Matrix (blue) with Reg. No. KWL-644ZY; two (2) Toyota Corolla cars with Reg. Nos. AWE-717AA and ABJ-893BE; roughly 25 locally constructed metal tanks; various hose sizes; more than 50 calibrated rubber surface tanks; two (2) Volkswagen Faragon buses with built-in tanks; container shelter; Mikano generator; two metal funnels; numerous plastic buckets; and Short Peddler Tankers without heads.

In an attempt to prevent others, Commandant Dandaura, the head of CG SIS, made a suggestion that the NSCDC would use its Legal Department to approach a court with the necessary authority and that due diligence would be followed throughout the investigation and prosecution process.

Adebayo: Peter Obi to Join Social Democratic Party (SDP)

0

Adewole Adebayo, a former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, revealed that Peter Obi will join his party prior to the 2027 election.
According to reports, Adebayo stated that the flood of powerful opposition politicians joining the SDP did not bother him.
The previous candidate for president stated in an interview with the Daily Independent that he was told the former Labour Party candidate would be joining the SDP.

“Getting his party’s ticket depends on his party members,” he said when asked if the influx of powerful opposition politicians will not hinder his ability to win.

“The SDP guys are responsible for getting the ticket. I am known to them. We’re welcoming other people to join my party. I welcome them with much activity, as you can see. The only small problem we have with some of them is that we need to change their culture. You will need to acclimate to a setting with rules if you have never been in one where rules are respected. Some of them are involved in clandestine Boy Scout activities. That’s what we’re working on. They are welcome to join the party, though.

Their arrival, in our opinion, will make the party stronger. The fact that you indicated Nasir El-Rufai, Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and other individuals are coming doesn’t bother me in the least. Indeed, I was informed that Governor Peter Obi would also be attending. A large crowd is expected. We greet them. “There isn’t a problem,” he stated.

Speaking further, he clarified that Obi’s people had been in communication with his party regarding the former governor of Anambra State joining the SDP.

If Obi and Atiku Abubakar join, Adebayo said, they have to follow the party’s guidelines.

He emphasized the need for transparency in order to defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“We don’t know until someone joins, but supposedly Peter Obi is joining. We’re having conversations with his folks, and I’m welcoming everyone. As we did in our 2022 convention, they must abide by the rules when they arrive, allowing one person to emerge openly, without dishonesty or illegal activity. We can provide Nigerians with a viable alternative if they embrace our culture and get over their fear of cheating or bribery to win. “We’ll take care of Nigerians from the first day, defeat the APC, and retire President Tinubu,” he continued.
