“Sex Can’t Replace Talent” – Kunle Afod Speaks on Nollywood Casting Scandals

0

As romantic attempts happen in other professions, Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has argued that the allegations of sexual exploitation in the industry are not unique to it.
In a recent interview with Nollywood on Radio, the director reportedly stated that success in Nollywood is ultimately determined by skill.
According to the 51-year-old actor, it would be a waste of time to sell one’s body without any talent.

The actor asserts that although “people can use what they have to get what they want,” skill is crucial in the field.

“One thing I tell people is to bring out those who claimed to have raped them in the industry,” he stated.

“We are grownups. Consent is expressed. They’ll probably ask you out if you go to school. Doctors may ask you out if you are a nurse. Patients may extend an invitation to date. You agree, if you like.

“Bankers are searching for targets. You accept a man’s invitation to go out if you like him. Moreover, you achieve your goal. It is identical. It’s not their issue.

“I have 21 players if I were a coach. And I’ll use 11. I could probably have 14 talented players. You will use what you have if you desire what you want.

The girls always say that. To achieve your goals, make use of what you already have. Not every girl.

However, let me tell you the truth. Your skill will always be superior. You are wasting your time if you sell your body because you are not good.

“Because they won’t take advantage of you. However, if you are excellent and you are adamant about avoiding lying on anyone’s bed. You will still be there because of that talent.

“Let each person have their own funds and make their own films. That’s how it is. Production is possible for anybody. That’s Nigerian fashion. It is possible for everyone to make motion pictures. Anyone can. You have the ability to.

Kwam1 Drags Kollington: ‘I Was There for You, But You Weren’t There for Me’

Renowned Nigerian artist Kwam1, whose real name is Wasiu Ayinde, has criticized his mentor and senior colleague Ayinla Kollington for failing to return his benevolent gift.

Recall that Kwam1’s mother passed away on January 18, 2025, and was buried that same day in accordance with Islamic customs.

Kwam1, however, vented his rage in an interview with Agbaletu Radio’s On Air Personality, OAP Bamidele Adeyanju, recounting how he supported Kollington after his mother passed away and took care of all the money.
He expressed his displeasure and charged Kollington of giving him a poor return.

“I’m very angry with Alhaji Kollington for not reaching out and offering condolences when I lost my mother,” Kwam1 stated. He and I worked together to bury his mother. I encouraged him to give his mother a respectable funeral. I was in charge of all the finances and brought a number of dignitaries, including governors, to the funeral.

“Look at how he reimbursed me. After everything I did for him, what might have happened? When my mom died, he was in Nigeria, healthy and happy, and the only reason he could give was that I didn’t answer his call. Shouldn’t I feel angry?

Finance Minister: Forensic Audit of NNPCL is in Progress

0

According to Wale Edun, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, a forensic audit is presently being conducted on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
This program is a component of larger federal initiatives to improve accountability and transparency in important national organizations.
Edun revealed the government is doing a thorough reconciliation of its financial records while speaking at the Nigeria Investment Forum in Washington, D.C. Making sure NNPCL boosts its contribution to Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves through enhanced oil revenue generation is at the heart of this operation.

The finance minister emphasized that the audit will provide insight into past financial dealings and establish the scope of NNPCL’s financial commitments, particularly those associated with the now-defunct fuel subsidy scheme.
Edun said, “An NNPC audit is in progress regarding NNPC arrears, so that we can truly comprehend what has transpired in the past.”

Although President Bola Tinubu announced the end of the gasoline subsidy regime on May 29, 2023, he clarified that the removal process was gradual. He mentioned that NNPCL took on a portion of the financial load throughout the transition.

As everyone knows, the termination of the fuel subsidy was announced on May 29, 2023, but it took some time to really happen, therefore there are currently some reconciliation operations underway. Meanwhile, a portion of that load was transferred to NNPC from the government’s budget,” he clarified.

Edun asserts that the national oil corporation has filed “legitimate claims” for arrears stemming from the delay in the elimination of subsidies. He did, however, stress the necessity of a thorough analysis to verify the veracity of their assertions.

There are two sides to it. A reconciliation is under progress,” he continued.

Looking ahead, Edun gave the NNPCL a clear mandate: increase crude oil production and produce more Federation Account revenue in dollars.

“NNPC needs to present the Federation with more oil output, more revenue, and more money in the form of dollars. That is their mandate and task. And they’ll deliver, I believe,” he said.

Real Madrid’s Injury Woes: Two Key Players Out Ahead of Copa del Rey Final with Barcelona

Due to injuries, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba will not play in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

At the half of their 1-0 victory over Getafe on Thursday, Alaba was substituted out.

He was replaced, incidentally, by Camavinga, who was unable to complete the game.

Camavinga will not be playing this season after suffering “a complete tear of his left adductor tendon,” according to Madrid’s latest confirmation.

With his team playing strong rivals Barcelona this weekend, Ancelotti is facing the possibility of losing his job due to this new double injury setback.

He already lacks Kylian Mbappe, forward, and defenders Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao, and Dani Carvajal.

“Camavinga has to be seen [on Thursday], but he and Alaba are having muscle issues, so it’s hard for them to be there on Saturday,” he stated.

Since obtaining the three points was the goal, I’m not angry. It’s true that we need greater efficacy up front and more solidity at the back. Indeed, the only other option at left back for Saturday is Fran García.

‘Coalition You’re Cobbling With El-Rufai, Babachir, Others Has Disintegrated’ – Presidency Mocks Atiku

0

According to the president, Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has a dismal political future.
According to reports, the statement was made by Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, in response to Ifeanyi Okowa, the PDP’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Earlier, after the PDP governors disassociated themselves from Atiku’s coalition plan and the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) reaffirmed their allegiance to President Bola Tinubu, Tinubu’s assistant, Tunde Rahman, implied in a post via X that the strategy is doomed to fail.
“For the coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, things are really getting dangerous and the future looks so bleak,” he said. The former CPC wing, which he also relies on, has expressed support for President Tinubu after the PDP Governors cleared their hands of any such coalition arrangement.

He had his biggest shocker to date today. Former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his running mate for the 2023 election, and Okowa’s successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, abandoned the sinking PDP ship, boarded the APC aircraft, and presumably switched to the PBAT side. In fact, the process of tallying the number of PDP governors who have switched to the APC has started.

Isn’t the Atiku coalition already dead? The hints of a fantastic Saturday will appear from Friday, as my people say.

In response, Onanuga called Atiku a bitter loser and emphasized that his alliance with Northern politicians and Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, had fallen apart.

Atiku’s political future appears gloomy, he claimed. The coalition that he, Babachir, El Rufai, and the newcomer Baba-Ahmed were scheming to form has fallen apart.

Potential supporters are ignoring his leprous bunch, including erstwhile running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and former CPC members. Once more, Atiku is a failure.

IPAC Proposes 74 Reserved Seats for Women in National Assembly Ahead of 2027 Elections

In light of the next general elections in 2027, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has redoubled its efforts to increase the presence of women in Nigerian politics through legislative action.
The council is pushing for the enactment of a crucial bill that would constitutionally reserve 74 seats in the National Assembly for women only.
The suggestion was at the center of talks at a two-day empowerment conference called “Breaking the Barriers and Shaping Positive Attitudes Towards Inclusive Politics in Nigeria” that took place in Abuja.

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and IPAC’s Directorate of Women Affairs collaborated to organize the event, which included well-known figures advocating for political gender equality.
During the event, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the National Chairman of IPAC, emphasized the council’s dedication to inclusive governance. In its effort to get the law approved by the National Assembly and the President, he reiterated that IPAC will not back down.

As a result, IPAC restates its demand that the National Assembly enact the bill reserving special seats for women in parliament. To promote more female involvement in politics, the measure aims to allocate 74 seats to women, according to Dr. Dantalle.

IPAC announced that it has established three specialized directorates devoted to women, youth, and persons with disabilities in order to institutionalize its inclusive approach. It is anticipated that these directorates would be essential in changing the dynamics of political parties and guaranteeing fair representation at all levels, from the local to the federal.

Dantalle emphasized that structural injustices that have prevented women from actively participating in politics for a long time must be eradicated. These obstacles consist of ingrained cultural prejudices, economic marginalization, and unequal educational opportunities.

He emphasized, “Women’s active political participation is essential to attaining inclusivity, equality, equity, and sustainable development in any democratic society.”

As part of his broader lobbying, Dantalle emphasized the significance of passing the Electoral Offenses Commission bill and cited its need to support accountable and clean elections.

In order to prosecute electoral criminals and their sponsors, the Council also calls on the National Assembly to enact the Electoral Offenses Commission bill.

IPAC suggested merging Nigeria’s election days into a single-day voting paradigm as part of a larger electoral reform. Dantalle argued that a single election day would simplify operations and save money, citing successful precedents from the US, Ghana, and Sierra Leone.

Dantalle said, “A one-day election will minimize disruption, cut costs, and solve logistical issues.”

Pauline Tallen, the previous minister of women’s affairs, presented a more extreme strategy for accelerating gender parity in the meantime. She demanded that political parties amend their constitutions to ensure that women hold at least 50% of all positions that are elected and appointed.

“I suggest that all political parties immediately alter their constitutions to provide for special seats for women as one option. Parties must to require women to hold at least 50% of appointments and elective seats, she stated.

Additionally, Tallen advocated for the implementation of the “Zebra Policy,” a gender-based nomination process that switches between male and female candidates on party platforms. She maintained that political parties must support social reform in addition to being leaders.

She went on to say that political parties must take the initiative to remove cultural and religious conventions that prevent women from participating in politics because they are essential to governance and policy direction.

Tallen made a direct reference to Nigeria’s First Couple as she wrapped up her remarks.

“The push for gender inclusion should be spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu.” Tallen pleaded with Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu to take advantage of her position to support the mainstreaming of women in Nigerian politics.

Tallen bemoaned Nigeria’s dismal record for female political representation worldwide. She pointed out that the nation lags well behind countries like Rwanda, where women hold 64% of the legislature, with only 4.2% of seats in the National Assembly currently occupied by women.

Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, needs to lead the way in eradicating gender prejudice in politics and mainstreaming gender equality, she stated.

Tinubu Blackmailing PDP Governors, Pressuring Them to Defect to APC – Timi Frank

According to Timi Frank, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy national publicity secretary, President Bola Tinubu is threatening and blackmailing five PDP governors to switch to the ruling party.
Frank reportedly announced this in a statement on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
According to him, Tinubu is also threatening to declare a state of emergency in their states in order to deal with governors who do not agree with him.

Timi Frank emphasized that the next election should not be about the North or the South, but rather about who would handle the numerous issues facing the nation, and cautioned leaders in the north and south not to fall for Tinubu’s antics to seize power in 2027.
He said: “He has escalated the intensity by threatening, blackmailing, and coercing at least five Southern PDP governors to defect to the APC along with their National Assembly members.”

Because Tinubu sees the 2027 election as a contest between himself and the North, he is making a valiant effort to win over the South by deceit and manipulation. He has already forgotten that the North aided him in gaining power in 2023.

Instead of a “Northern candidate or Southern candidate” or “Northern President or Southern President,” Nigerians need a president who would help their country improve.

The nation is already overburdened with racial differences. As a result, we cannot afford to have a president who pits one area against another in order to further his own agenda.

As a Southerner named Timi Frank, I don’t think a president who is divided and tribalistic is a good idea. I have faith that a leader will emerge who will bring Nigeria together instead of dividing it.

“I urge all Northerners who are still in favor of Tinubu to reconsider their decision. The North, which allegedly “assisted” Tinubu in gaining power in 2023, is currently suffering the most, and they should be aware of this.

“It is a reality that Tinubu has severely neglected the north in appointments and other infrastructure development programs, putting his own and his tribe’s interests ahead of anything else.

The North ought to awaken for this reason. They should know this route Tinubu is going in terms of 2027 politics, is not the best for Nigeria. They should rise and speak with one voice in 2027.

“I want the Northern leaders to know that should Tinubu find his way back to power in 2027, the North will suffer untold neglect as
Tinubu and the APC don’t have their genuine interest at heart.

“As we speak, at least five opposition governors are expected to defect to the APC—not because they like Tinubu, but rather as a result of intense political pressure, intimidation, and blackmail.” Those governors who choose to stay have been forced to sign pledges promising to turn over their states to Tinubu or risk losing their chances of winning a second term in office.

‘Let Us Wait And See’ – Arewa Forum Warns Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the National Publicity Secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has voiced worries over PDP governors defecting to the APC, arguing that it represents a step toward dictatorship in Nigeria.
He said in an interview with the Daily Sun that he is not shocked by the numerous defections and that Nigeria is progressively becoming more dictatorial.
“I am not really surprised about the development, though of course it is at the level of speculation,” Muhammad-Baba said. The governor of Delta has deserted. However, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal told us two days ago that he is still a PDP governor. Let’s wait and see what occurs.

It’s not shocking. We have been advancing towards tyranny not only in the process of government but also in the structure of political parties. Remember that the PDP has been stifling since the election in 2023. There are disagreements within the party, and some members have sided with the APC. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for example, stated that although he is a member of the PDP, he obviously identifies more with the APC than the APC members do.

Muhammad-Baba noted, “The government is marshalling all resources at its disposal towards the election,” highlighting the mounting urgency for the 2027 polls. With the promise of automatic tickets, it is forcing or influencing governors and other political figures to back the government and some lawmakers to rejoin the APC.

“If only they will be allowed to have their way, which is increasingly looking remote,” he said, while emphasizing that the people should determine the conclusion. Therefore, in my opinion, we should wait and see. What haven’t we seen yet? It’s happening right now and might keep happening. This political development is depressing.

No Hajj for Pregnant Women in 2025, Says Lagos Government

Citing health and safety concerns, the Lagos State Government has formally prohibited pregnant women from taking part in this year’s Hajj trip.

Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, Commissioner for Home Affairs, made the statement in Badagry on Wednesday. He emphasized that pregnant women’s health is at serious risk due to the demanding nature of the journey.

Layode pointed out that the state’s action is in line with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s (NAHCON) order, which forbids State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards from registering expectant mothers for the pilgrimage.

While discussing the pilgrimage preparations, such as the opening of medical clinics in Makkah and Madinah and the issuance of Yellow Cards to different states, Professor Abubakar Yagawal, NAHCON’s Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services (PRSILS), reaffirmed the policy in support of the directive.

“The Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs is also acting on the directive of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has emphasized the need to ensure that only medically fit individuals are cleared for the pilgrimage,” Layode continued.

“Those who are traveling to Makkah will start to travel by May,” stated Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina, during the First Family of Lagos State and Ministry of Home Affairs Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Please make sure you’re doing well. Do not travel for the 2025 Hajj if you are sick; instead, remain in Nigeria and offer prayers.

“It is extremely risky and delicate for pregnant women to perform the Hajj exercise,” the Commissioner for Home Affairs stated.

The procedures are thorough. An expecting lady shouldn’t go through the Tawaf, Safa, or Marwah from Medina to Makkah. Because they were born in Saudi Arabia, it has nothing to do with style or naming a child after a prophet.

The commissioner disclosed that some women had tried to conceal their pregnancies in order to participate in the pilgrimage in the past, with some reportedly submitting their husbands’ urine for medical examination.

The state government has implemented sophisticated medical screening procedures to stop these dishonest practices, such as stationing mobile diagnostic vans at select screening locations that are capable of detecting tuberculosis and pregnancy.

Tinubu’s aide boasts: ‘A 2023 presidential candidate set to join APC’

According to Daniel Bwala, a presidential advisor, nearly every member of the opposition parties would eventually join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

When Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, the presidential adviser said he was thrilled.

Bwala also said that a past presidential contender would join the APC in the 2023 election.

“Almost all opposition members are coming, including a former vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election,” he said.

Bwala also called the alliance supported by Nasir El-Rufai and Atiku Abubakar a “coalition of confusing confusion.”

There are just two political parties in Nigeria, he pointed out.

“A coalition of perplexing confusion; Una has yet to see anything,” he remarked. Another past presidential contender is getting more interested in running for president in 2023.

“On X,” he said, “there are only two political parties in Nigeria: APC and others.”
