Explosive Cargo: NDLEA Intercepts Vehicle Transporting 942 Devices to Zamfara

0

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents successfully stopped a commercial vehicle carrying 942 explosives in a sack last Saturday while on a routine patrol along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway. The vehicle was traveling from Nasarawa to Zamfara State.
According to sources, the agency’s spokeswoman, Femi Babafemi, acknowledged the development in a statement.

According to the agency, a 30-year-old suspect was taken into custody in relation to this event.

The NDLEA stated that they found the explosives during the May 3rd patrol and detained the culprit, Nura Sani Muhammad (also called Nura Hariji).

The agency also reported the capture of illegal narcotics in Lagos and Port Harcourt valued at over N3.4 billion.

On April 29, NDLEA officers and other security personnel conducted a joint inspection of a watch-listed container at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers State, and recovered 2 million pills of tafrodol 225mg and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup. Additionally, 1,500,000 pills of a controlled opioid were discovered in the Alaba-Rago neighborhood of Ojo, Lagos.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers state, and Lagos state, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) operations have seized at least three million five hundred thousand (3,500,000) opioid pills and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup, totaling more than three billion, four hundred and twenty-eight million naira (N3,428,000,000.00).

Two million 225 mg tafrodol pills and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup were the main items seized on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, when NDLEA officers, Customs Service officers, and other security personnel jointly inspected a watch-listed container at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers state.

“On Tuesday, April 29, 1,500,000 pills of a controlled opioid were found in Lagos, from a suspect named Olarenwaju Wahab in the Alaba-Rago neighborhood of Ojo. The consignment’s origin was identified as Q104B Road 25, Victoria Garden City, Lekki, which is the home of an Obinna Kenneth, who is currently at large.”

The statement further disclosed that 42 bundles of Canadian Loud, a very strong cannabis strain concealed in food tins, were intercepted by officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja during a British Airways trip from Canada.

According to the announcement, three people were arrested between April 30 and May 3, including the beneficiary, Monsurat Ewawunmi Lawson.

On May 2, Babafemi reported another incident at the Lagos airport: Bobby Morris Osa, a businessman, was arrested for trying to board a trip to Italy with over 8,000 tramadol pills.

In a similar vein, the statement stated that on April 28, 104 grams of tramadol and skunk concealed in bottles of body cream were seized by NDLEA officials, who stopped an effort to transport drugs to Iraq via a courier service.

Among other accomplishments was the 52-year-old Managing Director of Ovidaq International Ltd. being apprehended in relation to the July 2024 importation of over 2.6 million tramadol pills through the Apapa port.

The discovery of 51 wraps of Canadian Loud was another outcome of a search of his Lekki home.

The 52-year-old Dominic Chiegozie Obijiaku, Managing Director of Ovidaq International Ltd., was arrested by NDLEA agents on Saturday, April 26, after a ten-month investigation. The NDLEA had been investigating the importation of 2,616,060 tramadol 225mg pills, which they had intercepted at Apapa seaport in Lagos on July 28, 2024. During a follow-up procedure at his Lekki home, 51 wraps of Canadian Loud weighing 34 grams were found, according to the statement.

As a result of the agency’s significant arrests in the states of Kano, Edo, Anambra, and Niger, hundreds of thousands of opioid tablets, codeine syrup bottles, pentazocine injection ampoules, and cannabis were seized from all suspects.

Uzodimma to South East: Embrace APC to Connect with Central Power

Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has called on politicians in the South East to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Uzodimma reportedly stated that the South East could only fully benefit from the federal government if it joined the ruling party.
At Saturday’s APC South East Leaders’ Consultative Meeting in Enugu, he made this statement. In order to win over every region, he urged the party leaders to band together and work together.

Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State; Chief Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives; Anyim Pius Anyim, the former president of the Senate; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; and Chief Uche Nnaji, the minister of innovation, science, and technology, were among those present at the meeting.

The fact that current governors in other geopolitical zones are now joining the APC must have caught your attention. The Southeast will be extremely near to the corridors of power by joining the APC, which is in command of the central government in Nigeria and other subnational governments, he stated.
The APC Governors Forum Chairman stated that the party and its South East stakeholders were dedicated to furthering the region’s interests.

The goals of the productive interaction were to strengthen party institutions, increase unity, and match our grassroots mobilization with our overarching political goals.

“We intentionally uphold the progressive principles of our party while making sure the South East maintains a strong link with the national government. This relationship is crucial for our region’s socioeconomic development and goes beyond politics.

Our region now holds important roles in national leadership, demonstrating the tangible results of our modest efforts thus far. We believe there will be even more chances in the future. The development of the South East continues to be our ultimate objective,” he continued.

I Will Switch to SDP If Obi Joins Party – Onyema

0

A prominent Labour Party chieftain in Enugu State, Chief Ogochukwu Onyema, has indicated he may leave the Labour Party if former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, defects to the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

Chief Onyema, a former senatorial aspirant under the PDP, described the SDP as an “emerging party” with a strong internal constitution—one that discourages its members from engaging in endless court battles. He made the remarks during a media interview in Enugu.

In his words, “If Obi moves to the SDP, I will follow him.” The statement has sparked new speculation about potential realignments within Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Chief Onyema also took time to commend Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for what he called “proactive and strategic leadership.” He praised the governor’s project choices and leadership style, calling him a man of vision and futuristic thinking.

“Each time I see his choice of projects, I smile within myself. This is a proactive man, a man of strategic thinking,” Onyema said.

He also recalled his decision to leave the PDP despite being part of the team that secured electoral victory for Governor Mbah. Onyema stressed that he turned down political appointments to chart what he called his own course.

Though he remained tight-lipped about any specific ambitions for 2027, he acknowledged past disappointments within the PDP, having contested unsuccessfully three times for both House of Representatives and Senate seats.

As Nigeria inches closer to another election cycle, political maneuverings like this may signal bigger shifts on the horizon.

‘Laughable Allegations’ – Soludo Fires Back at Ozigbo

0

The accusations brought against him by Valentine Ozigbo, a candidate for governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC), have been denied by Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State.
According to Ozigbo, Soludo was afraid that he would be the party’s nominee in the upcoming election on November 8, 2025.
If Soludo were asked to swear on a Bible, he said, it would be proof that the governor was supporting Nicholas Ukachukwu in an attempt to undermine the APC.

Nevertheless, Christian Aburime, Soludo’s principal press secretary, told The Cable that the accusation was a product of Ozigbo’s mind.

“That is laughable,” he continued. In Ozigbo’s mind, it is a fantasy. Ozigbo ought to confront Ukachukwu and stop involving Soludo in their issues. The governor is not associated with the APC; rather, he is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA. Delivering democracy’s benefits to the populace is his main goal. Leave him out of APC politics, Ozigbo.

Since the primary election, Ozigbo has sued the APC in the federal high court in Awka, the capital of Anambra state.

The lawsuit, which names Ukachukwu, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants, aims to force the party to acknowledge Ozigbo as the legitimate candidate and to void Ukachukwu’s nomination.

South-South PDP Chair: Okowa, Oborevwori Will Return Like Uduaghan

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still in existence in Delta State, according to Emma Ogidi, the chairman of the party’s caretaker committee for South South.
According to reports, Ogidi claims that the departure of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has not diminished the party’s numbers or prospects.
“The PDP gave Delta State all its development,” Ogidi said in an interview with Vanguard.

PDP is still active in Delta State; there is no denying that our membership has declined, but the party is still active in the state.

Following the announcement that I had been assigned, I had a lot of calls from folks who said they were staying put. This zeal is still there in PDP.

Do you know why? The PDP has been successful because it has been the driving force behind the growth in Delta State throughout the years. We all come from diverse backgrounds, therefore those that joined the APC had their own motivations. People wonder what’s going on. However, there are reasons why some of us chose to stay behind.

The PDP’s achievements in Delta State are one factor. All of Delta State’s current developments are the result of PDP. Because the PDP created the majority of the hundrednaires, thousands of people, and millions you see now, some of us are still dedicated to giving back to Delta State.

“PDP ought to be appreciative of Deltans for their support.” This is my firm opinion, and I beg Deltans to see that the PDP in Delta State still has chance,” he stated.

The former commissioner, who represented Delta State on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), went on to say that the APC had nothing to offer.

Like former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, he emphasized, Governor Oborevwori and Okowa might return to the PDP.

“The PDP is in charge of Delta State. I know what former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan said when he returned from his visit to the APC, as you may remember. He claimed that when he visited, nothing was there. You see, the reality is that now is not the time to start answering every question. This is a time to reflect.

“Those of us who are still in the PDP are evaluating our situation. We will report to Abuja, our national headquarters, as you are aware, this is a chapter,” he continued.

NCAA Flags Air Peace for Frequent Delays and Cancellations

Air Peace was summoned by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday because to the ongoing cancellations and delays of flights.

Air Peace was instructed by DGCA Capt. Chris Najomo to enhance its domestic operations and reduce operations to the number of aircraft in its fleet in order to alleviate the situation.

The accusation was given by the DGCA to some airline management personnel during a meeting in Abuja.
The airline personnel stated that they were working around the clock to address their issues, even though they acknowledged that they had certain difficulties that are common in the sector.

Operators must adhere to the rules and international best practices, Najomo said, adding that the NCAA will continue to support the airlines.

He issued a warning, saying that in order to guarantee compliance, the NCAA was stepping up its oversight of flight operations on all airlines.

Natasha Tried to Bribe Me with N200m to Frame Akpabio for Organ Harvesting – US-Based Activist Alleges

Professor Mgbeke, a US-based activist, has provided forensic investigation proof of phone conversations she had with suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to a number of international institutions.
In a Facebook live broadcast Thursday night, Dr. Duru published snippets of these discussions, claiming they clarified the reasons for Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, according to The Nation.
The activist made phone logs and communications public, which went against Natasha’s earlier claim that they had never spoken before.

In addition, Duru said that Natasha had given her ₦200 million in exchange for accusing Akpabio of organ harvesting and linked him to the death of a young girl a few years prior. According to reports, this was proposed after her attempts to investigate the claims of sexual harassment against Akpabio failed.
Before abruptly accusing Akpabio, Duru questioned Natasha’s years-long quiet and called for an inquiry by the Nigeria Police Force, the IPU, and international security organizations. She referred to the ongoing Umoren murder case and pressed Natasha to clarify her knowledge of the occurrence.

Duru accused Natasha of having no concrete proof of harassment against Akpabio throughout the one-hour live session, characterizing her actions as a conscious attempt to destroy men.

Duru provided further information to support her assertions, such as call logs and messages from Natasha.

“There is no indication of organ harvesting, and there is also no sexual harassment of any kind. I told Natasha that you have shamed us Nigerians and that you are a compulsive liar. You want to make Nigerians’ issues worse? She said that they were G and H, or “Gullible and Hungry.” “I said,” Duru said.

She went on: “I gave her advice to reconcile with the Senate members, but she insisted that they intended to overthrow the Yoruba government, even though I wasn’t sure what she meant by that.” A lawyer who speaks carelessly, Natasha lacks moral principles, humility, and is not teachable. If things don’t go her way, she doesn’t care. Natasha considers you her adversary if you disagree with her. Her purpose is to destroy men. Our men, our sons, and our girls who blindly follow her cannot be destroyed by her. Duru went on to say, “She even called Dr. Oby Ezekwesili a useful idiot.”

As part of a larger plan to overthrow what she called the “Yoruba government,” Natasha said that she wanted to pressure the Senate President to resign. Duru called on the Nigerian police to look into Natasha’s unfounded accusations.

Regarding Umoren’s passing, Duru added, “Umoren passed away in 2021, and an autopsy verified there was no organ harvesting involved.”

The activist urged Natasha to provide further details about her knowledge or involvement in the crime, adding that she had previously notified international organizations about her claims.

Biafra Agitator Simon Ekpa Will Soon Face Extradition – FG Witness

The self-proclaimed Biafra Prime Minister Simon Ekpa will shortly be extradited from Finland to Nigeria, according to a prosecuting witness on Friday.

Ekpa will be extradited to stand prosecution for support of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, according to a Federal Government witness.

Chief Kanu Agabi, Kanu’s lead attorney, cross-examined the witness, who was only named as “AAA” and a Department of State Services (DSS) employee, in the Federal High Court in Abuja, which was presided over by Justice James Omotosho.

The crew that arrested Kanu on October 15, 2015, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Lagos included the witness.

He said that Ekpa was already under custody and that extradition processes were underway because of his support for IPOB and his involvement in “inciting violence.”

Additionally, the witness attested that when Kanu was arrested in 2015, no guns or other violent instruments were discovered in his hands.

The woman discovered in Kanu’s hotel room was not regarded as a suspect, he added, because it was proven that she had met the defendant on social media.

The witness stated that the woman was found not guilty.

After the proceedings, the trial was postponed by Justice Omotosho to May 6, 7, and 8, 2025.

Currently, the IPOB leader is on trial for terrorism-related offenses.
