NCAA Flags Air Peace for Frequent Delays and Cancellations

0

Air Peace was summoned by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday because to the ongoing cancellations and delays of flights.

Air Peace was instructed by DGCA Capt. Chris Najomo to enhance its domestic operations and reduce operations to the number of aircraft in its fleet in order to alleviate the situation.

The accusation was given by the DGCA to some airline management personnel during a meeting in Abuja.
The airline personnel stated that they were working around the clock to address their issues, even though they acknowledged that they had certain difficulties that are common in the sector.

Operators must adhere to the rules and international best practices, Najomo said, adding that the NCAA will continue to support the airlines.

He issued a warning, saying that in order to guarantee compliance, the NCAA was stepping up its oversight of flight operations on all airlines.

Natasha Tried to Bribe Me with N200m to Frame Akpabio for Organ Harvesting – US-Based Activist Alleges

Professor Mgbeke, a US-based activist, has provided forensic investigation proof of phone conversations she had with suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to a number of international institutions.
In a Facebook live broadcast Thursday night, Dr. Duru published snippets of these discussions, claiming they clarified the reasons for Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, according to The Nation.
The activist made phone logs and communications public, which went against Natasha’s earlier claim that they had never spoken before.

In addition, Duru said that Natasha had given her ₦200 million in exchange for accusing Akpabio of organ harvesting and linked him to the death of a young girl a few years prior. According to reports, this was proposed after her attempts to investigate the claims of sexual harassment against Akpabio failed.
Before abruptly accusing Akpabio, Duru questioned Natasha’s years-long quiet and called for an inquiry by the Nigeria Police Force, the IPU, and international security organizations. She referred to the ongoing Umoren murder case and pressed Natasha to clarify her knowledge of the occurrence.

Duru accused Natasha of having no concrete proof of harassment against Akpabio throughout the one-hour live session, characterizing her actions as a conscious attempt to destroy men.

Duru provided further information to support her assertions, such as call logs and messages from Natasha.

“There is no indication of organ harvesting, and there is also no sexual harassment of any kind. I told Natasha that you have shamed us Nigerians and that you are a compulsive liar. You want to make Nigerians’ issues worse? She said that they were G and H, or “Gullible and Hungry.” “I said,” Duru said.

She went on: “I gave her advice to reconcile with the Senate members, but she insisted that they intended to overthrow the Yoruba government, even though I wasn’t sure what she meant by that.” A lawyer who speaks carelessly, Natasha lacks moral principles, humility, and is not teachable. If things don’t go her way, she doesn’t care. Natasha considers you her adversary if you disagree with her. Her purpose is to destroy men. Our men, our sons, and our girls who blindly follow her cannot be destroyed by her. Duru went on to say, “She even called Dr. Oby Ezekwesili a useful idiot.”

As part of a larger plan to overthrow what she called the “Yoruba government,” Natasha said that she wanted to pressure the Senate President to resign. Duru called on the Nigerian police to look into Natasha’s unfounded accusations.

Regarding Umoren’s passing, Duru added, “Umoren passed away in 2021, and an autopsy verified there was no organ harvesting involved.”

The activist urged Natasha to provide further details about her knowledge or involvement in the crime, adding that she had previously notified international organizations about her claims.

The self-proclaimed Biafra Prime Minister Simon Ekpa will shortly be extradited from Finland to Nigeria, according to a prosecuting witness on Friday.

Ekpa will be extradited to stand prosecution for support of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, according to a Federal Government witness.

Chief Kanu Agabi, Kanu’s lead attorney, cross-examined the witness, who was only named as “AAA” and a Department of State Services (DSS) employee, in the Federal High Court in Abuja, which was presided over by Justice James Omotosho.

The crew that arrested Kanu on October 15, 2015, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Lagos included the witness.

He said that Ekpa was already under custody and that extradition processes were underway because of his support for IPOB and his involvement in “inciting violence.”

Additionally, the witness attested that when Kanu was arrested in 2015, no guns or other violent instruments were discovered in his hands.

The woman discovered in Kanu’s hotel room was not regarded as a suspect, he added, because it was proven that she had met the defendant on social media.

The witness stated that the woman was found not guilty.

After the proceedings, the trial was postponed by Justice Omotosho to May 6, 7, and 8, 2025.

Currently, the IPOB leader is on trial for terrorism-related offenses.

The investigation’s specifics are still unknown, but it has brought up important issues regarding digital asset security and intellectual property protection in a world growing more interconnected by the day. The case has already attracted attention, both inside and outside of Nigeria’s cybersecurity community, because of the seriousness of the accusations, even though authorities have not yet released an official statement.

There will likely be more information released as the investigation progresses, but tech professionals, legal authorities, and industry experts throughout Nigeria are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Sherifat Sonaike, the trial judge, delivered the verdict on Friday.

Ominikoron and others, who are still at large, were charged of planning to rape and kill Bamise.

In February 2022, Bamise boarded a BRT bus but never arrived at her destination.

The driver of the BRT she boarded was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

The driver, Ominikoron, pleaded not guilty, but was convicted and condemned to death.

Baba-Ahmed Labels Buhari Nigeria’s Worst President, Discusses Jonathan’s Administration

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the former Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Vice President Kashim Shettima, has harshly criticized the performance of former President Muhammadu Buhari, calling his term the “worst in Nigeria’s history.”
Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Thursday, Baba-Ahmed bemoaned the administration’s shortcomings and charged Buhari of putting the position before governance.
Baba-Ahmed was said to have expressed his disenchantment with the government, despite having initially backed Buhari’s ascent to office.

Although a large number of Nigerians backed Buhari over former President Goodluck Jonathan because they believed he would be able to unite the nation and fight corruption, he expressed disappointment with his leadership style.
Buhari was not a representative of the north. We saw Buhari as a better alternative because, at the time, he seemed like a better option than Goodluck Jonathan, not because he was from the north, Baba-Ahmed stated.

“We believed he would be tough on corruption and able to bring the nation together, as Jonathan was lenient toward Boko Haram, etc.,” he added. He proved to be the contrary, though.

Without holding back, Baba-Ahmed declared Buhari’s administration to be the worst in Nigerian history. He drew on his seventy years of experience to argue that Buhari’s administration neglected governance and neglected to put the needs of the impoverished first.

According to my experience, which I have as a 70-year-old, we haven’t had a government worse than Buhari’s. Baba-Ahmed said, “I haven’t seen a government that neglected the poor, governed less, or failed more at setting priorities.”

In retrospect, Baba-Ahmed said that he had great expectations for the administration after first supporting Buhari but quickly realized the President was more concerned with maintaining his office’s status than with providing effective governance.

In his campaign, I participated actively. For four years I chaired his party in my state. But after a few months in office, it became clear that he was more concerned with holding the office than with running the government.

He disclosed, “We began with private advice, then shifted to public criticism when it became evident he wouldn’t listen.”

In response to a question concerning his tenure in the Tinubu administration, Baba-Ahmed said that while he had no regrets about entering the government, he would rethink his choice in light of the leadership’s present course.

“No, I’m not sorry I entered. Yet, considering the present course, I wouldn’t repeat it. I failed to witness the passion, dedication, and fervor to rebuild a fragmented nation. More of a façade, I thought,” he said.

Despite President Bola Tinubu’s audacious pledges to eliminate subsidies and enact strict reforms after the 2023 elections, Baba-Ahmed noted that these measures lacked sufficient planning.

The expectation that Tinubu will improve the nation led Nigerians to vote for him in 2023. Although he pledged strict reforms and eliminated subsidies, he wasn’t really ready. His advisors are working feverishly to address issues as they arise. “Rhetoric and reality are very different,” Baba-Ahmed clarified.

The nation’s rising insecurity, especially in states like Niger, Plateau, and Benue, was another issue Baba-Ahmed brought up.

He criticized the administration for failing to confront the rising violence despite releasing contradictory figures that suggested violence had decreased.

There is more blood being shed now than there was two years ago; visit Niger, Plateau, and Benue. But they publish figures that say there is less violence. To whom are these numbers given? He questioned, “Are they even aware of the way Nigerians live?”

Tears Flowed After Being Mocked for Not Being Married – Funke Akindele

Nigerian box office queen Funke Akindele has described how her marriage to music executive Abdurasheed Bello, better known by his stage as JJC Skillz, ended in divorce and how she was ridiculed for not having a spouse.
During the first live episode of the “WithChude” podcast, the movie star reportedly stated that she has always known that therapy is important but has never sought help out of concern that her private life will be shared publicly.
Funke said she is a strong woman, but she turned to a therapist after crying over a video of someone making fun of her for not having a partner.

She also suggested that folks talk to others and seek therapy.

“I knew from the beginning that therapy is important, but I never gave in to it,” she remarked. I would say something like, “I don’t want anyone to hear about me.” They will go and share the main points. But I was acting strong, and I was dying in silence. They threw more at me at work, at home, from family, and in society every time I displayed strength. For many others, you serve as an inspiration. I’m a really strong individual. My God, I possess that strength. Yes, I would keep my face firmly in place. You know, the politics, the backlash, the insults, my prayer partner, everything, when Mum died away.

“I watched one particular video. They made fun of me by claiming that I was single. Ladies dancing and making fun of me. I cried. I wept uncontrollably and repeatedly. Then I reminded myself that you should talk to someone about this. You can’t keep doing this. You realize you have to speak up?

And I made contact and began talking. I was feeling better. I shared with my therapist things I couldn’t share with others. I’m better now. Therefore, I want to give you all some advice: speaking up is crucial. Yes.

Additionally, Enugu police arrived and removed the burned-out cars. The witness went on to say, “I found out that the attackers took the weapons from the officers who were killed.”

Breaking: eNaira Trademark: Court Rules in Favour of CBN, Declines Interim Ban

eNaira Payment Solutions Limited filed an interim restraining application against the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) use of the “eNaira” trademark, but the Federal High Court in Abuja denied it on Friday.

The firm filed a notice move against the CBN and others, and Justice James Omotosho rendered the decision.

Prior to the hearing and resolution of its substantive suit in Nigeria, the company requested an order of interim injunction from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office prohibiting the Central Bank of Nigeria (the first defendant) from further asserting any rights to the eNaira mark in the United States or any other foreign jurisdiction, including in relation to goods.
The Legal Conflict

Jonathan Kenneth Adoke, the CEO of E-Naira Payment Solutions Limited, petitioned the court for an order compelling the CBN to immediately stop communicating or interacting with the USPTO or any other foreign authority about the eNaira trademark while the Nigerian court decides the suit.

In addition, the company asked for:

“An order of interim injunction directing the Central Bank of Nigeria to notify the United States Patent and Trademark Office of the ongoing litigation concerning the Nigerian eNaira trademark and its subjudice status, while the substantive suit is being heard and decided.”

The plaintiff also requested a temporary injunction, which would require the USPTO, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, or any other appropriate U.S. authority to stop any further actions or decisions pertaining to the eNaira mark until the Nigerian lawsuit was resolved.

The firm further requested that the court order the CBN to stop any further attempts to stop its registration of the eNaira name or trademark in any country and to abstain from representing the word “eNaira” as a Nigerian sovereign asset or legal tender in any jurisdiction.

The plaintiff asserted that he was the legitimate owner of the eNaira brand and that the trademark registry had approved his application for registration.

The legal team at CBN responded by stating that since the Federal Republic of Nigeria introduced the eNaira as a digital currency, it is a national asset and cannot be owned by a private company.

The Judge’s Remark
Justice Omotosho declared in his decision on the interim motion that he would weigh the “balance of convenience” in accordance with applicable laws.

“The balance of convenience refers to which party would suffer more harm if the application were granted or refused,” he clarified.
The judge pointed out that the CBN had previously written to the U.S. Trademark Office, claiming that the eNaira is a Nigerian national asset.
“The CBN’s action is preservatory,” he stated.

He added that granting the temporary application would have a major negative impact on Nigeria’s economy and might seriously harm the nation’s interests.
The judge came to the conclusion that the plaintiff’s application would damage Nigeria’s economy and reputation globally.
“The court decided today that if this application is approved, the CBN would be put in an irreversible position,” he continued.

The judge decided that the plaintiff’s application was unsuccessful.

He decided that the application was denied for lack of merit since the plaintiff had not made a strong argument.
The court then postponed the hearing of the substantive suit until June 26.

More Details
In an attempt to promote financial inclusion, Nigeria introduced the eNaira, its central bank digital currency, in October 2021.

Additionally, it was anticipated that the digital naira would support the CBN’s cashless program.
