0

Lagos State’s Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area is in sorrow after the passing of Musibau Asafa, its executive chairman.
Bodunrin Ayodele, the deceased’s chief press secretary, reportedly announced in a statement on Saturday that Asafa passed away following a protracted sickness fight.

Ayodele, who did not reveal the chairman’s passing date, stated that his principle passed away in spite of the efforts of medical experts.

The announcement said, “Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area is in sorrow after Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa, its Executive Chairman, passed away.

After a protracted illness, Prince Asafa, a well-respected statesman, leader, and devoted public servant, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the people he served.

A close relative claims that Prince Asafa’s death was verified following a protracted disease fight. He passed away despite the best efforts of medical personnel, leaving his friends, family, and coworkers in shock and sorrow.

As word of his departure spreads, well-wishers, local authorities, and government representatives who had the honor of working with him are anticipated to offer their sympathies and tributes. A dedication to bettering the lives of his residents characterized Prince Asafa’s leadership, and his contributions to the local government will be sorely regretted.

Many will be saddened by the loss of a devoted servant to Oto-Awori LCDA. I hope his legacy endures and that his family finds comfort in the recollections of his life and devotion.

Abdul-Hamed Salawu, the Executive Chairman of the Somolu Local Government Area, sent his condolences to Oto-Awori LCDA on Saturday via the Somolu LGA social media accounts for the chairman’s passing.

“The people of Oto-Awori LCDA and the APC family have received the condolences of the Executive, Legislature, Management, and the people of Somolu Local Government from Abdul-Hammed Salawu, the executive chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA, over the tragic death of Prince Musbau Adekunle Asafa, the executive chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA,” the post stated.

Presidency Reacts to Report of New Honours List Featuring Aisha Yesufu

The publication was rejected by the Presidency, which asserted that Aisha Yesufu, a fervent supporter of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, received a national honor from President Bola Tinubu.
Temitope Ajaiyi, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, reportedly called the revelation about the alleged honor “fake news” in a post via X on Friday.
According to Tinubu’s aide, the Presidency has not released any new honor rolls that differ from those revealed in President Tinubu’s speech to the National Assembly’s joint session on Thursday.

He wrote: “The Leadership newspaper’s story about a viral list of national honors that includes Aisha Yesufu’s and other people’s names is fake news.” It is best to disregard. In contrast to the honors list presented by President Tinubu to the National Assembly’s joint session yesterday, the Presidency has not released any new ones.
On Friday, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, stated his support for President Bola Tinubu, claiming that he is the only visionary leader who can revive the country’s faltering economy.

Along with assuring Nigerians that the once pervasive sabotage of national infrastructure has now been much reduced, the former Niger Delta warlord asserted that a major victory has been achieved in the fight against oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the resource-rich region.

During a press briefing held by the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement in Abuja to celebrate Democracy Day, Tompolo reportedly said, through Edgar Biu, the Technical Adviser to the Presidential Amnesty Program, that the President has shown through his reforms that he has the will and vision to see his projects through to completion.

Akpabio Slams Opposition: You Won’t Unite As Long As You Keep Lying

The opposition has been instructed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio to unite prior to the 2027 election.
If the opposition continued to criticize every aspect of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he warned, they would not be able to unite.
Speaking at the nation’s capital, Abuja, Akpabio attended the commissioning of the recently built Left-Hand Service Carriageway.

Ayo Fayose (Ekiti) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), two former governors, were among the PDP chieftains who attended the occasion.

Tinubu’s statement was cited by the Senate president in his Democracy Day speech prior to a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
“The president stated that he does not want Nigeria to be a one-party state,” Akpabio added. His prayer is for the opposition to organize their homes.

To ensure that no one accuses anyone of attempting to suppress the opposition, strive to get your houses together before the next election.

But I wouldn’t do that if you expected me to handle your problems and put it together in my capacity as Senate president and the president’s representative.

The president stated that he wants you to unite, but he would not assist you in doing so if you are unable to do so. It’s political.

Additionally, you will never be able to unite as long as you keep lying every day. Furthermore, when you criticize everything. Your country is not doing well. What was Nigeria like in 1960? How did Abuja look three years ago?

Sowore: ‘I Could Have Taken Legal Action As Tinubu Overlooked Me For Award’

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for 2023, has stated that he would have taken legal action against President Bola Tinubu if he had received a National Award.
According to Naija News, the president on Thursday revealed the official list of 102 honorees for the 2025 Democracy Day National Honours, which includes both living and deceased Nigerians who have contributed to the country’s democratic journey.
Some Nigerians, however, were disappointed that Dele Momodu and Sowore, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were not included on the list of awardees.

In a statement on his official Facebook page on Friday, the lawmaker and activist stated that he would have declined the prize.
Sowore stated that he would not only reject the verdict but also sue Tinubu for slander.

His words were this: “If I were mistakenly included by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his ‘National Award’ list, I would not only reject and denounce the award but also take definitive legal action for defamation.”

In other news, Sowore has referred to the current coalition discussions as empty, lacking intellectual depth and purpose.

According to reports, Sowore’s statements come amid rising political realignment as many actors prepare for the next presidential contest.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential contender for 2023, and Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, have led the opposition front.

However, in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sowore warned Nigerians that present coalition efforts lack strategy and philosophy, and will simply boost President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid rather than challenging it.

PDP Crisis: Saraki Responds As Tinubu Mocks Opposition Parties In Speech

President Abubakar Bukola Saraki, a former Senate President, has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s comments regarding the ongoing turmoil between the opposition parties.
State governors from the opposition parties of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) have reportedly defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the general elections in 2027.
According to President Tinubu’s June 12 Democracy Day speech on Thursday, he was happy to see the opposition parties “in disarray.”

Organizing your home should be your top priority, in my opinion. “Neither will I help you do so,” the Nigerian leader said.

President Tinubu has also denied the claim that his administration is enforcing a one-party system by enticing opposition figures to join the All Progressives Congress, which is currently in power.

After the Democracy Day event at the National Assembly, Saraki addressed media and acknowledged that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently in disarray in response to Tinubu’s remarks.

He exhorted opposition parties and party members to organize appropriately.

“I think we have to believe him,” said Saraki. He was quite successful in expressing his opposition to one-party control, after all. We must believe him when he expresses support for a multi-party system. All of us agree as a result.

We are reaching out to people and asking them to join us because of this. There is no longer any pressure on those who say they are under it. All of us support multi-party, and since he said he would not help, we will try to organize our own homes again.

Tompolo-Led Movement Launches Door-to-Door Drive, Promises 10 Million Votes for Tinubu

The PBAT Door-2-Door Movement, a socio-political group that supports President Bola Tinubu, has pledged to mobilize 10 million votes to ensure his re-election in 2027.

On Wednesday, during a Democracy Day event in Abuja, Sunday Adekanbi, the group’s protem national coordinator, encouraged Nigerians to join the campaign to maintain progress.
Adekanbi claimed that in two years, President Tinubu has established Nigeria as a global economic powerhouse and a model of democratic governance.

His words: “In just two years, President Tinubu has showed unprecedented vision, boldness, and resolve, establishing Nigeria as a worldwide economic powerhouse and a model of democratic governance.

“His ambitious reforms and revolutionary policies have built a strong foundation for long-term growth, prosperity, and togetherness. We admire his unwavering commitment to bringing the benefits of democracy to every Nigerian, regardless of geography, religion, or socioeconomic status.”

Adekanbi said the group, led by its grand patron, Government Ekpemupolo — also known as Tompolo — will launch a grassroots effort to rally support across the country.

He stated, “High Chief Tompolo will lead a nationwide campaign to engage political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and citizens ward by ward, street by street, and house by house to ensure that President Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria is understood and embraced.”

“His leadership will galvanise support across regions, uniting Nigerians behind a leader who has proven his capacity to deliver.”

He stated that Tompolo’s mobilisation efforts would support Tinubu’s reform agenda, refute misinformation, and showcase Renewed Hope successes.

Adekanbi described the initiative as community-based activism and promised to create “a robust support network” for the president’s re-election.

“We pledge to mobilize 10 million votes for his re-election in 2027, guaranteeing that his transformative agenda resonates with every Nigerian.

“We encourage all Nigerians to join us in this campaign to ensure a brighter future under President Tinubu’s leadership. “We will work together to build a prosperous, united, and globally respected Nigeria,” he stated.

Tinubu: Dickson Stood For The Truth While Many Politicians Became Sycophants – Timi Frank

Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has praised Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, for denouncing the anti-democratic policies of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Shortly after President Tinubu’s State of the Nation Address to a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, Dickson was said to have criticized the current administration’s anti-democratic stance, particularly with regard to Rivers State.
Dickson chastised Tinubu for failing to bring up the state of emergency he declared in Rivers State, the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the suspension of every member of the State House of Assembly from March 2025.

Frank praised Dickson in a statement released on Friday for his bravery and patriotism in pointing out the absurdity of the executive and legislative branches celebrating Democracy Day with much pomp when a state in the nation is ruled by the military.
He hailed Dickson as a hero and a modern-day champion of democracy in the nation for his valiant resistance against Tinubu’s imposed democratic aberration in Rivers State.

He said Dickson’s moral position in denouncing Tinubu’s administration’s undemocratic inclinations will live on in the memory of future generations.

Frank bemoaned the fact that Tinubu’s administration and the APC embrace authoritarianism, impunity, and one-party control over democracy and the rule of law.

“Senator Dickson played the role of a true opposition by speaking the minds of ordinary Nigerians,” he remarked. He made me proud as an Ijaw son in addition to being a Nigerian citizen.

As a Bayelsan, he has made me proud. As a son from the Niger Delta, he has made me proud, and by speaking up against those who are undermining our democracy and the nation, he has made the entire nation proud.

“He bravely came out to speak the truth at a time when so many Nigerian politicians who cut across party lines have turned into political cowards and sycophants.”

He will be remembered by future generations for his morally upright position denouncing the Tinubu administration’s undemocratic inclinations.

“History will never forget him because he was the only one who faced the reality and the actual state of our democracy at a time when Nigerians looked to leaders, particularly those in government, to speak the truth.

Dickson’s actions are comparable to those of lawmakers in other democracies, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and even South Africa, when they confront the president with the reality and expectations of the populace. Although it may appear that he is by himself, we want him to know that the Nigerian people are behind him.

“Nigeria and the world are with him, and we are encouraging him to do more by being fearless as usual, even if his colleagues across party lines may not support him because he is cowardly in his attempt to save our democracy.”

Frank went on to claim that other National Assembly members knew Tinubu’s speech was heavily skewed toward propaganda and lies during the joint session, but they nevertheless praised the president out of sycophancy.

He went on to say, “We are aware that there may be plans to suspend Dickson for his actions, similar to what the Senate did to other senators who have previously stood up for the truth, but let him not be alarmed because God and Nigerians will defend him.”

He would be better off siding with God and the majority than with the demonic and wicked authorities who are trying to sabotage Nigeria’s democracy.

“It is disheartening that the Senate’s minority caucus has been completely undermined, as the minority leader should have taken Dickson’s action if there had been a robust opposition.”

‘The System Is Crumbling, Nigerians Are Just Hanging On’ – Kate Henshaw Decries

Actress Kate Henshaw of Nollywood has questioned the country’s continuous democratic rule’s applicability if it doesn’t meet the requirements of its people.
In an interview on Channels Television’s special Democracy Day show on Thursday, the movie actor reportedly claimed that the nation’s democratic experience has not had a significant influence on the lives of common people.

Nigerians are fighting to survive in increasingly difficult socioeconomic circumstances, Kate Henshaw bemoaned the decline of the middle class, the deterioration of public facilities, and the increase of poverty.

Henshaw asked Nigerians to continue holding people in power accountable in spite of the harsh reality.

“People are not feeling the effects of our democracy,” she remarked. Unbroken democracy has been in place for a while, but how does that affect others? That trickle-down effect—what is it? In what ways does it affect the lives of the average Nigerian?

There is no middle class, and we must stop deceiving ourselves. There is no security, people live in poverty, and healthcare is in ruins.

Nigerians are clinging to their lives as everything around them collapses.

“It is impossible to win the fight for what matters in a day. We cannot remain silent. We must always ensure that the government is held responsible.

“The people must have justice, equity, and security for their lives and property.”

The actress went on to explain that she didn’t want to participate in the customary words of celebration for Democracy Day because she had nothing to say and nothing had come to pass.

She went on, “I would have tweeted ‘Happy Democracy Day,’ but I had nothing to say. It’s simply this sense of something fading away that hasn’t really materialized.

“But I continue to hope that we will have a nation for our kids to grow up in—something they can build upon.”

‘You Walked Into Order And Brought Chaos’ – LP Chieftain Slams Peter Obi

0

Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, a former presidential candidate and Labour Party (LP) chieftain, has accused Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential contender, of being to blame for the party’s current problem.
In a statement released on Thursday, he accused the former Anambra governor of blaming everyone but himself.
He mentioned the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which he said Obi did not form but abandoned after reaping the party’s benefits.

The LP chairman stated that Peter Obi was solely responsible for the party’s predicament.

He said that all of the party’s dirty agreements were done to advance Obi’s political career.

The statement says, “My attention has been attracted to several comments and videos in which Mr. Peter Obi continues to blame everyone but himself for the Labour Party’s developing predicament. Obi appears to be pointing fingers everywhere except the man in the mirror, blaming the present president, party leadership, and even external factors.

“This is both upsetting and dishonest. It’s absurd that a man who takes pride in competence, ability, and output – the Labour Party’s basic goal — is now a symbol of division, confusion, and underperformance.

“I recently viewed a video in which he blamed the president for the party’s difficulties. In another, he blamed the party’s leadership. There is no end to the blame game.

“Let’s be honest: Mr. Peter Obi is the only individual who can be held accountable for the Labour Party’s downward slide.

“When Obi joined the Labour Party in 2022, it was fully united. The house was clean and orderly. However, since his arrival, turmoil has wracked the party from top to bottom. The center couldn’t hold anymore.

“This split was a major contributor to our loss in the 2023 general election. A house divided against itself will not stand.

“How can a man who claims to want to rule a complex country like Nigeria fail to manage a small political party?

“To all Obi supporters, I beg you to consider this: If Peter Obi cannot overcome party-level disputes, how will he handle inter-state conflicts, economic restructuring, security instability, and national reconciliation?

“Don’t forget, Obi did not create APGA, the platform that provided him with his first opportunity. He abandoned it when he could have transformed it into a national party, like Nnamdi Azikiwe did with the NCNC and Awolowo with the UPN. Compare this to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who transformed a provincial party into a national behemoth that currently dominates Nigeria.

“Instead of strengthening the APGA, Obi went to the PDP for another political meal, then to the Labour Party for a third – always searching for the simplest path, not the one that requires true leadership and sacrifice.

“After the 2023 elections, instead of returning to rebuild the Labour Party and unify dissatisfied members, he distanced himself even more from Barr. Julius Abure, the very guy he employed throughout the campaign. Now that the party is over, he blames Abure for the mess, forgetting that he walked into a spotless house and screwed it up.

“Let me be clear: I am not a fan of Julius Abure, but the dubious dealings under investigation were done to advance Obi’s political ambitions. Leadership necessitates devotion, accountability, and the will to lead, especially during difficult circumstances.

‘Forget National Honor, Wear Betrayal Badge’ – Atiku’s Aide Attacks Onanuga

0

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Frank Shaibu, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, for praising his principal over the national honors since he helped solidify democracy and fight to have the June 12 election results revoked.
Reacting to Onanuga’s 𝕏 post, Shaibu reportedly reminded him of his opposition to military rule and his ability to speak truth to authority.
Atiku’s aide pointed out that Onanuga has chosen to back a government whose policies mirror the oppression he once opposed, rather than continuing on the honorable road of speaking up for the people.

Shaibu says Onanuga spins propaganda for a government that rules with impunity, trivializes the pain of Nigerians, and mocks their anguish.

Onanuga initially supported the battle for democracy, but he has subsequently switched sides, according to Atiku’s assistant.

“Dear Bayo, Through TheNews and Tempo, you might have participated in the media resistance during the June 12 conflict. You spoke out against military oppression. History once set out a place for you among the democratic defenders because of this. However, you no longer follow that honorable path.

You now speak for a government whose policies mirror the identical oppression you previously opposed, rather than the people. You support policies that make poverty worse, justify ineptitude, and make dictatorship possible. You manufacture propaganda for a regime that rules with impunity, make fun of Nigerians’ pain, and justify their misery. June 12 was not about that.

Thus, I would like to know if you are deserving of being recognized as a June 12 hero.

June 12 was a moral revolt, not just a date. Patriots’ sacrifices, the people’s will, and their refusal to submit to authoritarianism were all at stake. Its principles must be upheld by those who are worthy of wearing it, not only during the conflict but also after it is over and truth becomes inconvenient.

Is it possible for a man who today supports oppression to be considered an oppressor? Can someone who justifies evil be honored on the altar of justice?

“To reward you with a CON under the June 12 banner is to desecrate the memory of Alfred Rewane, Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, Kudirat Abiola, and the millions who longed for a better Nigeria.” Bayo, you may have been on one side of the battle in the start, but now you’re on the other.

“Honor is about where you stand when it counts most, not just where you stood in the past. And you’re standing against the people today, not with them. Instead of a national award, you ought to wear a badge of betrayal.
