A Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has ordered the remand of one Dennis Chimezie on suspicion of stealing a set of twins and selling them for N3.5 million.

Dennis Chimieze was arraigned in court on a two-count felony charge of child trafficking, but pleaded not guilty.

The suspect, a resident of Igwuruta town in Rivers state’s Ikwere Local Government Area, allegedly conspired with others, who are now at large, to steal and sell the set of twins.

However, before being sentenced to prison, the suspect told the court that he was not involved in the twins’ adoption process.

Before he was asked to take custody of the three-day-old children until they return to the country in December 2021, he claims that his wife’s sister and her husband, who live overseas, had already concluded all discussions about the adoption.

Rita Ogugwo, the trial Magistrate, inquired as to the whereabouts of the twins.

The Investigating Police Officer, IPO, in charge of the case at the SCID, ASP Satumari Gabriel, informed her that they had died.

Chidinma Maduka is said to have started the process of adopting the twins.

Following the applications made by the Prosecutor and Counsel to the accused, the Magistrate ordered that the Director of Koko Homes at No. 11 Eagle Island and her staff, as well as a staff of Imo State Correctional Service, Chidinma Maduka and one Favour Onyekachi, appear in court on the next adjourned date.

According to Akwarandu, his client is a “victim of circumstance” because he was only carrying out an order from her “sister in law who is based abroad.”

The Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress APC has again postponed its scheduled congresses and national convention indefinitely.

This notice was contained in a letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and signed by National Chairman, Mai Mala Buni and Secretary, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, on Tuesday July 6th. The party leadership said that it has reschedules its congresses and national convention to a later date that will be communicated to the commission.

“We refer to our letter reference number APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/021/20 dated 10th June, 2021 on the above subject and wish to inform the commission that the party has rescheduled its Congresses and National Convention to a later date which will be communicated to you,” the letter read in parts.

”This serves as a formal notification pursuant to the provisions of section 85 of the Electoral Act (2010) as amended.” it added.

The Buni caretaker committee came into power after former National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole was ousted via a court ruling and the National Working Committee of the party subsequently dissolved by the National Executive Council under the influence of President Muhammadu Buhari in June 2020.

The caretaker committee which had initial six-month tenure to conduct a fresh national convention to elect new party leaders has had its tenure extended twice.

Lawal Gumau’s wife, Hajia Amina Jauro, has been accused of housing property fraud in Abuja, according to several documents.

Mrs. Amina, who married and became the Congress member of her husband’s party in 2019, was alleged to have defrauded many applicants who sought to live in her leased home.
Documents show that Amina, masquerading as the owner of the house, issued a tenancy agreement to new tenants.

We acquired the new tenant tenancy agreements and payments slip that Hajia Amina created for the tenants.

As of this report, it was unclear how much the other victims paid.

A concerned resident had warned the owner, Madam Ndokwa Ofili, who stays in Garki, Abuja, that the Senator’s wife was suspected of fraud.

Good morning, madam; there is a claim on your property in Gwarinpa, Abuja. Reach out to the appointee of the property. Before paying the woman who is claiming ownership, the concerned tenant wanted to make sure that she was the property owner.

The bubble burst when they wrote to the Senator’s wife to renew her rent, but did not send the letter.

He sent two copies of the “Notice for Rent Renewal”: one dated March 2, 2021, and another on March 22, 2021.

Your lease for the four-bedroom duplex and three rooms en suite Boys Quarters, which runs from February 25, 2020, to February 24, 2021, expired on February 24, the day of the anniversary.

Therefore, we kindly ask you to renew your rent, which will extend from February 25, 2021 to February 24, 2022, to the amount of N3,500,000 per annum.” Furthermore, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that rent must be paid in advance, as the law states,” the letter reads.

April 30, 2021, is the deadline for payment but the Senator’s wife had not fulfilled this obligation, necessitating a court notice.

Our client has received your letter dated March 2, 2021, on the above subject matter, and accepts your apology. Since she hasn’t been around, she received the letter, which was forwarded to her.

Our client intends to renew her rent and challenge your client to give her a little more time to renew her rent. To further indulge her, she assures your client that the rent will be paid on or before April 30, 2021.

The tenants, Hajia Amina, are confused and are currently battling to get their rents back, but so far, they have not been able to locate the Senator’s wife.
