Oyo State Residents’ Registration Programme begins on Monday

0

The pilot phase of the Oyo State Residents’ Registration Programme will begin on Monday, August 9, 2021, according to Mr. Bayo Akande, Special Assistant (ICT) to Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to a statement, the program will begin with commercial transportation workers (Okada, tricycle, Micra, and bus drivers) in various Ibadan locations.

“Once the pilot phase is successfully completed, we intend to expand to other sectors across the state’s entire Local Government Areas,” the statement read.

One of the advantages of starting with the transportation sector, according to the report, is that it will allow Oyo State to address the security concerns that are common in the sector.

Officials involved in the registration will issue ID cards to all Okada and tricycle riders, as well as reflective jackets customized with each rider’s unique registration number, according to the statement.

“As of August 6th, 2021, the first enumerator training has begun.

“OYRTMA officers and MIC staff serve as supervisors for the trainees.

“The project’s consultants will walk them through the process of registering individuals on the platform.

“After registration is completed, the OYRTMA officers will act as enforcers of the project for their sector.

“We have worked with the Amotekun Commandant to ensure that officers from the Amotekun Corps will be present at each registration point for security reasons.

“For the pilot phase, the location of each of these registration points will be shared accordingly.”

“Access to government incentives, health and vehicle insurance, among other things, are some of the benefits of the scheme.

“These advantages are incalculable, particularly in terms of health and security.”

Ward Congress: APC group urges Buni’s c’mtt to stop Osun’s “dangerous trend.”

0

The dust has yet to settle on the All Progressives Congress (APCtumultuous )’s Ward Congress in the state of Osun.

The Progressive Coalition Against Injustice (PCAI), a group within the party, called on Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), to avert a dangerous and self-destructive trend within the party, on Friday.

According to the group, the Osun APC has built a winning and stable legacy that has brought exceptional development and politics to the people for over ten years.

The Progressive APC group said in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Mr Jide Alabi, that it was aware that the recent ward congress in Osun would not be fair and transparent because of the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, who added that the latter’s ambition and relationship would prevent him from doing the right thing expected of an umpire.

The group claimed that Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, tainted the process.

The group questioned why Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was so friendly to politicians, especially those from the opposition PDP in the ruling party, and said the current situation requires immediate attention from national leaders.

“Our great party’s leadership is urged to take a quick look at the situation in order to avoid a dangerous and self-destructive trend. As a result, our regional and national leaders have been warned to halt this trend before it becomes gravely irreversible for the state and country.”

“We knew there was no way the APC Ward Congresses Committee in Osun, headed by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, could have been fair from the time he was appointed,” the statement reads. This is because we have it on good authority that Senator Iyiola Omisore, who has previously hijacked the PDP and SDP, nominated Elegbeleye.

“While leaders from far and wide urged Elegbeleye to at least be fair and recognize all stakeholders in the Ward Congress consensus arrangements, he turned a deaf ear to serve his masters, claiming that he screened over 8000 aspirants in just three hours.

“Why is Oyetola collaborating with the worst elements of our political climate to promote a divisive and toxic agenda?

“Governor Oyetola is doing everything he can to sabotage the legacy by dividing the party and, worst of all, bringing criminal PDP elements to the forefront of our party.

“This has serious implications for our party’s electoral prospects in the coming elections. Governor Oyetola is disenfranchising the party’s grassroots, denying them access to the party’s Direct Primaries and corrupting our people with PDP criminals.”

Breaking: Northern youths demand that BBNaija be banned

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has urged the Nigerian government to prohibit the broadcast of the reality television show Big Brother Naija, also known as BBNaija.

BBNaija, according to AYCF National President Yerima Shettima, encourages immorality and sexual indulgence, and thus should be banned in Nigeria.

On Friday, Shettima spoke with the Daily Post, describing the reality show as a disaster that Nigeria should reject.

“It’s a calamity in my opinion; I’ve never believed in BBNaija and still don’t believe it’s right because the show is immoral. This type of show should be discouraged.

“I have repeatedly stated that this show promotes immorality, and that the Nigerian government should please prohibit it from airing in our country.

“You see, a lot of people watch to see immorality acts, those sex things displaying their nakedness, and they’ve made it look like a blue film (X-rated film), so that has to stop.

“I implore true patriots to join hands and draw the government’s attention to the implications of this program, which must be discouraged,” he said.

BBNaija housemates have been caught on camera having sex or engaging in other forms of sexual activity over the years.

However, many have argued that viewers have the option of watching or not watching the show.

Nigerians, according to Babangida, believe the country should remain united because they value peace.

“It is always good to agitate,” Babangida says, “but there is this belief that this country should be one.”

“When they make a fuss, they find that it is not well received because Nigerians generally do not believe in anything that disturbs their tranquility. They’re not going to do it.

“If you look back, if you take a place like Baga in the north-east, the Igbo, Yoruba man travelled up to Baga for trading, he lived very comfortably, he lived very well with the people around there,” says the author.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has recently been at the forefront of the Biafra agitation, while Sunday Adeyemo, aka Igboho, has been advocating for Yoruba Nation.

Buhari orders police to arrest Nigerian protesters in London; demonstrators refuse to back down and label Buhari a terrorist.

President Muhammadu Buhari is said to have dispatched police officers to London in order to prevent Nigerian protesters from converging in front of the Nigeria House in Trafalgar Square.

Some peaceful protesters demanding Buhari’s return to Nigeria were challenged by British police on Thursday evening, according to a video obtained by SaharaReporters.

Buhari is receiving medical treatment in London.

The Nigerian President stayed behind after attending the Global Education Summit on Financing the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025 to see his doctors, despite resident doctors in his country going on strike.

The Nigerian protesters were seen speaking with the police officers, who appeared to persuade them to stop protesting there.

More police officers were also seen arriving in police vans, while a Nigerian woman could be heard screaming without fear, demanding that the President return to Nigeria and put an end to the killings in the West African country.

“The cameras are on,” a police officer was overheard saying. “Someone was sticking out last night, you just got lucky,” he said when asked if he enforces the law, adding, “I am without fear or favor.”

“They are killing in our country, they are killing our people, Buhari is here with Boris Johnson, and I am surprised that the Prime Minister will condone such, condoning corruption and murder, it is terrible,” one of the female protesters said.

”They are murdering people in our country. Let him simply resign; enough with the killings in Nigeria; where is that done, and he has the audacity to come to this country for medical treatment. Our story is that he keeps stealing our money and murdering people. We will not back down because President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria is a terrorist; we are not breaking the law; it is our civic right, and we will exercise it.

”Buhari is a serial killer. Nigeria has no single healthcare system, Buhari has been in power for more than six years, he continues to borrow, the economy is deteriorating, and inflation is rising. Our naira is worthless. They kidnap children and murder innocent people.”

“There’s a criminal named Buhari here,” a male protester said, “and what we’d like to do is get him back to where he came from.”

“That’s a big gun,” he said when he saw an officer. He wasn’t on the door because I didn’t put him there. I’m surprised you’ve returned. Wow, more (police officers) are on their way! “This is a serious situation.”

“Day 8 of Buhari Watch, we are here in front of Nigerian House here in Central London, Trafalgar Square, where our president is still missing, yes the police have come and gone, they know we are not doing anything illegal, this is the right of citizens to protest, they were here to protect us,” a male protester said after the police left. Yes, the cops were there to keep us safe.

“Buhari, your administration has been the worst in Nigerian history; that is the only award we can bestow on you, and your administration will not be allowed to get away with the crimes you have committed while in office. The innocent blood you spill on a daily basis will continue to scream for justice.

“You are a complete disgrace, Buhari. Leave now; no one wants you to stay; the people you surround yourself with are only interested in themselves; they will be judged; they will turn their backs on you; they will not honor a thief; no one is on your side; you are a kidnapper, a terrorist.

“If you are not hiding in London, where are you?” Buhari, you are a wicked President; resign now and release Sowore, who has been imprisoned for over two years. Nnamdi Kanu should be released. Now is the time to release Sunday Igboho! Now is the time to free all political prisoners! Now is the time to release all freedom fighters! Kidnappers, terrorists, and Boko Haram must all be pursued. Return to your starting point. Return to the Sambisa forest. Now is the time for revolution!”

Allow your husbands to suck your breasts, says the Chief Nurse to expectant mothers

0

A Chief Nursing Sister, Roseline Oladimeji, has advised pregnant women to let their husbands suck their breasts.

This, according to the expert, will help them prepare for breastfeeding after delivery.

Oladimeji spoke at a Festac Town, Lagos, event commemorating the 2021 World Breastfeeding Week, which was organized by Amuwo Odofin Maternal and Child Centre.

“Let your husband suck your breasts while you’re pregnant. It will help the nipples to be out and make it easier for your baby to latch on, in addition to bonding,” she said.

Her advice to women, according to NAN, is to rub vaseline on their nipples before going to bed. Oladimeji claims that this softens them.

According to the Chief Nurse, proper breast preparation during pregnancy prevents lactation problems after delivery.

Colostrum, the first form of milk produced after birth, contains nutrients that help boost the baby’s immunity, she explained.

Some foods, herbs, and medications, according to Oladimeji, can harm babies through breast milk.

She warned that taking palmwine to help with lactation could cause alcohol to enter the baby’s system while breastfeeding.

Mothers should also ignore advice from people who aren’t medical professionals, according to the expert.
