Sunday Igboho: Pastor Giwa tells Benin Republic President 48 hours to free Yoruba agitator

0

Pastor Adewale Giwa, Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, has urged President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic to free Yoruba warrior Sunday Adeyemo, also known as “Igboho,” within 48 hours.

Igboho is presently being held at a prison facility in Benin Republic, according to the DAILY POST.

On July 1, 2021, personnel from the Department of State Services, DSS, raided the pro-Yoruba self-determination activist’s house in Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, resulting to the arrest of twelve of his aides, although Igboho escaped capture.

Igboho was caught with his wife in Cotonou, Benin Republic, on July 16, 2021, while traveling to Germany, and has been detained since since.

Yomi Aliyyu, one of his attorneys, had raised the alarm last week that Igboho need immediate medical care.

Igboho, he claims, has been diagnosed with renal and lung disease.

Giwa urged President Talon not to let himself to be exploited by greedy Nigerian politicians to tarnish the country’s image in a speech to his church members on the State of the Nation on Sunday.

“Let me issue a warning to the President of the Republic of Benin to free Sunday Igboho within 48 hours.” He should avoid being compared to the biblical Judas Iscariot.

“Be forewarned, and let the young guy free as soon as possible.” Giwa said, “Sunday Igboho should not be treated like a criminal.”

Furthermore, the angry preacher chastised the National Assembly for sinking Nigeria further into debt.

“This is the worst National Assembly since 1999,” he remarked. They approve whatever President Muhammadu Buhari delivers to them, regardless of how the Nigerian people feel.

“They say “Yes sir” to whatever President Buhari says without questioning or seeking Nigerians’ input.

“This is just a rubber stamp assemblage that just depicts itself and pockets,” says the narrator.

Drivers should take a break after every four hours of driving: FRSC

A road safety expert has offered advice on how to protect drivers from fatigue and other dangerous driving behaviors.
To avoid fatigue, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) advises drivers to take a 15-minute break after every four hours of driving.

During a sensitization talk at The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Festac Town, Lagos on Sunday, Sikiru Aduloju, Assistant Corps Commander, Apapa Command, gave the advice.

He believes that driver fatigue can lead to accidents because tired drivers are more likely to make poor decisions.

He also advised drivers to avoid other factors that could lead to accidents, such as talking about sensitive topics on the phone or with a passenger while driving.

“We should not take calls while driving because even good news can cause destabilizing reactions,” he said.

Mr Aduloju warned against a condition he called “Road Accident Immunity Deception Syndrome” (RAIDS).

RAIDS, he claims, is a situation in which drivers are aware that their vehicles are defective but continue to drive them because they have prayed.

“Boarding a vehicle whose driver is completely inebriated or under the influence of drugs just because you prayed is dangerous,” he said.

He urged people to drive cautiously, especially during the “ember” months, which he described as a time when there are a lot of activities and movements.

Mr. Aduloju emphasized the importance of drivers considering others while driving.

“Good defensive drivers take into account other drivers’ actions and inactions.”

“Please don’t go too fast; think about the distance rather than the time,” he advised.

The All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State has named Alhaji Babayo Misau, the candidate of Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, as its Chairman.

Following a consensus process that began on Saturday, October 16 and ended on Sunday, October 17, he and 35 other executives were announced in the early hours of Sunday.

Jibrin Sam, the chairman of the state Congress Committee, said the officials were chosen by delegates and stakeholders of the party.

In an interview with journalists on Saturday evening, Sam stated that the results of the Congress would not be announced until Monday.

He explained that this was done to allow stakeholders to consult with one another and come up with a consensus candidate.

However, around 1.00 a.m. on Sunday, he announced that Misau had been chosen by consensus.

The committee was tasked by the party’s National Secretariat to hold a free and fair congress in the state, according to Sam.
“We gave stakeholders of each local government area and their zones the opportunity to elect state executives without rancor,” he said.

“As a result, we affirm the elected officials in accordance with the party’s guidelines and policies.”

During the election process, he explained, the committee did not interfere with stakeholders’ decisions.

The party, he said, was committed to bringing in leaders who could work tirelessly to depose the state’s Peoples Democratic Party-led government.

He claimed that the APC owned Bauchi State and that the party would reclaim it in 2023.

He praised the stakeholders and party loyalists, however, for remaining calm during the Congress.

“We will begin at the bottom and work our way to the top.”

“We’ll use the next local government elections to let the people of Kwara know we’re back,” he said.

Hon John Akwarashi, the chairman of the election committee from the PDP national headquarters in Abuja, expressed delight that the Kwara PDP had chosen the consensus option.

“It is clear that the majority of party members have chosen their officers,” he said.

“From what we have seen, it is clear that the choice of consensus is the overwhelming choice of the party members,” said Malam Shehu Abdulkadir, who led INEC’s delegation to the congress.

Dennis Otiotio is the new chairman of the Bayelsa APC

Bayelsa Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Dennis Otiotio, is a political associate of Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva (APC).

Yusuf Adejo, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DSP) and Chairman of the state congress planning committee, revealed this when he announced the congress results in Yenogoa on Saturday.

According to Adejo, Otiotio received 582 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Mr Dan Igrubia, who received eight votes.
During the congress, Mr Ebipadei Fekoweimo was also elected as the state APC Secretary, according to him.

Adejo stated that the winners were determined after a fair election and urged party supporters in the state to continue to support the party.

In his acceptance speech, Otiotio promised to reposition the Bayelsa APC to ensure victory in the general election of 2023.

“The people of Bayelsa yearn for good governance, which the APC is known for,” he said. “We will do everything we can to ensure that the party is re-positioned in the state to take its rightful place.”

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders in the state kept an eye on the congress.

Ubani threatened to sue the FG over the government’s requirement that civil servants be vaccinated.

0
Dr. Monday Ubani, a lawyer, has stated that if the federal government enforces the directive on mandatory vaccination for civil servants in the country, he will not hesitate to take them to court.
Ubani is the Chairman of the NBA-SPIDEL (Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law).
He recalled that Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation/Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Covid-19, had announced last week that all civil servants in Nigeria must show proof of vaccination or present a negative Covid-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to their various offices within Nigeria and Missions abroad, with effect from December 1, 2021.
Ubani described the directive as insensitive, claiming that it violated existing labor terms as well as civil servants’ fundamental rights to privacy, life, movement, religious belief and faith, and liberty.

“Any directive on mandatory vaccination is immature, unnecessary, unacceptable, and should be completely rejected,” Ubani says.
The directive’s punishment of denial of access to office is a clear breach of the contractual terms of employment, as well as a restriction on the freedom of movement and liberty guaranteed by Chapter 4 of the 1999 constitution, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights.
“When these civil servants were hired, mandatory vaccinations and the consequences of non-compliance were not part of their contract terms.”
This new policy is an affront to good working relationships and goes against international labor standards.
Any attempt by the Federal Government to continue with this illegal policy will be met with a strong legal challenge.”

According to Ubani, in the absence of substantive legislation making Covid-19 vaccination mandatory, such a policy directive, which would invariably deprive people of their guaranteed rights, is illogical, unlawful, and null and void.
Ubani also insisted that the best policy for the country is for citizens not to be allowed to relax their guard in the face of the pandemic’s prevention measures.
“Because the government has failed to persuade the citizens on the issue of health, safety, and bodily harm of this vaccination, they are advised to abandon their current policy, which is at odds with the citizens’ bodily integrity,” he said.
They should instead use persuasion techniques to persuade citizens of the benefits of the vaccines, but most importantly, they should pursue free education, free health policies, and other social welfare policies and make them mandatory for citizens, which will earn the government praise.”

The Emir was held captive for 32 days before being released.
