The Silverbird Group partnered with Geely Motors as the official car sponsor of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, which was proudly brought to Nigeria by Mikano International.

The purpose of the motorcade was to show the MBGN contestants, who were chosen from across Nigeria, around the host city of Lagos, as well as to give the ladies and their Silverbird crew a firsthand look at Geely’s high-tech vehicles. The twenty-one-car convoy set out on a tour of Lagos’ suburbs, departing from Geely Nigeria’s flagship showroom on Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island, and stopping at important locations such as Silverbird’s (MBGN’s organizers) headquarters on Ahmadu Bello Way and the Eko Hotel and Suites (the venue for the crowning event) on Adetokunbo Ademola, Victoria Island. Following a successful motorcade parade, the Geely-Mikano team treated the MBGN contestants to a day of music, games, and fun at Moist Beach Club on Victoria Island. The beach event was attended by celebrities from the entertainment industry and friends of the Geely-Mikano family, including Don Jazzy, Ayra Starr, comedian Sydney Talker, Guy Murray Bruce, President Silverbird Group, and others. The girls were divided into four teams, each representing a feature of a Geely car: safety, hi-tech, power, and design, and they participated in a volleyball tournament as part of their team activities.

Miss Abuja, Oluchi Madubuike, a certified nursing practitioner, was crowned the MBGN 2021 and also the holder of the title of Miss World Nigeria 2021 on the 18th of September at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, capping off the two days of fun. “There is a serious problem brewing at the Adamawa APC,” a source familiar with the situation added, “which, if not resolved quickly, may cost the party the governorship again, as it did in 2019.”

“Remember that the party lost the governorship election in 2019 to incumbent and member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Ahmadu Fintiri, over the same power struggle between Mrs Buhari, Bindow, Binani, and other opponents in the quest to have her brother become governor.

“In a similar vein, state security chiefs were threatened with dismissal if they did not help Modi achieve his goal.”

It was also revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, was the first victim of the threat, as he was said to have insisted on fully supervising the Yola South congresses.

As a result, Senator Binani’s candidate defeated the First Lady’s candidate.

Enraged by the turn of events, Aisha was said to have ordered the CP to be transferred out of Adamawa right away.

Mr Mohammed Ahmed Barde, a new CP, had since taken his place.

“As things stand today, all heads of federal agencies in the state whose line of duty involves supervising party congresses are living in fear of the unknown if they try to work against the First Lady’s brother’s interests,” another party official said.

According to sources, the quartet in Abuja changed the majority of the names from the ward and local government congresses that were sent to the APC national secretariat, resulting in a slew of lawsuits challenging the changes.

“I will not repeat the mistake of 2019, where we allowed Governor Bindow to have total control of the party to the detriment of many of us,” Aisha, who is not hiding her deep involvement in the ongoing manipulation, was quoted as saying.

According to sources, Aisha vowed that she could not afford to leave the office with her husband in 2023 without a member of her family taking over Adamawa State to ensure their political relevance in the years ahead.

“If this is allowed to happen, the APC will once again be the big loser in 2023, just as it was in 2019. They can only help the PDP and governor Fintiri win re-election in 2023 if they keep going in the same direction “, according to a senior party official.

In addition, the current manipulation in Adamawa is taking place at a time when the general sentiment in the state is that the governorship seat should be rotated to another zone outside of Adamawa Central in order to ensure fairness and a sense of belonging to all of the former Gongola State’s geopolitical zones.

Despite the fact that the First Lady believes the Central Zone has yet to produce a governor and that it will do so in 2023, APC stakeholders oppose her position, claiming that her zone has produced the Secretary to the Government of the Federation since 2015.

“Additionally, because Aisha is the First Lady of the Federation and hails from the Central Zone, the zone has had its fair share of power and should hand off the governorship seat to another zone in 2023,” the source added.

Similarly, the Northern Senatorial Zone had produced a governor six times in a row, and the feeling is that the zone had reaped sufficient benefits.

Another party source added, “Such fairness can never be achieved if congresses are manipulated against the wishes and aspirations of the people.”

“This is what happened during the local government congresses. While the election of party officials in Yola-South, Sen. Binani’s and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu’s home local government, was held at the party’s state secretariat in Jimeta amid heavy security operatives as opposed to the Yola South party secretariat, Sen. Bindow and Sen Abbo had no idea where the Mubi North and Mubi South congresses took place until now.”

When contacted on the phone, the First Lady’s spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, who said he was in New York, declined to comment, simply saying, “Please, I have nothing to comment on that story.”

Dr. Timothy Olawale, NECA D-G is dead

Dr Timothy Olawale, the Director-General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), has died.

Olawale died on Friday, Oct. 1 in an Abuja hospital, according to the NECA Secretariat in a statement released in Lagos on Saturday.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr Timothy Olawale, our Director-General, who passed away on October 1, 2021 in an Abuja hospital.

“We pray the good Lord to grant his family and us all the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the statement said.

The statement went on to say that the organization was in contact with the family and that more information would be released as soon as possible.

According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), the late Dr Olawale was confirmed as the substantive Director-General of NECA in January 2019 after serving in an acting capacity for six months.

Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, has approved the appointment of AIG Danlami Yar’adua, rtd as Director-General of the newly formed State Safety and Road Traffic Authority.

The governor has also approved the appointment of Sanusi Hayatu Sabuwa as the Secretary of the Authority, according to a press release signed by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, Director Press to the Secretary of the State Government, and made available to newsmen in Katsina.

Multinational Joint Taskforce Launched Course on Integrated Operations

Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim, Force Commander, FC, Multinational Joint Taskforce, says the fight against terrorism necessitates a global approach.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders in order to isolate and clear terrorists from the Lake Chad Basin area.

Major General Ibrahim stated this while declaring the Joint Integrated Operations Planning Course open in N’Djamena, Chad, according to a statement released by Colonel Mohammed Dole, Chief of Military Public Information, HQ MNJTF, N’DJAMENA CHAD, who emphasized the importance of restoring security and stability in the region.

During the briefings, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Commission, praised the MNJTF leadership’s efforts and urged them to continue to improve the stability of the Lake Chad Basin Region.

General Khalifah stated that they would be provided with equipment and other necessary materials in order to improve field surveillance and tactical maneuvering.

He also reminded them that operations are the true test of a troop’s fighting spirit and that it necessitates good training and physical abilities.

This was stated by General Khalifah as he continued his familiarization and operational tour of troop locations at the forwarding Operating Base, Mallam FATORI, and Headquarters 5 Brigade in Damasak, both in Sector 3.

Alex Iwobi, a Super Eagles midfielder, will miss Nigeria’s two-leg World Cup qualifiers against the Central Africa Republic in Qatar in 2022.

The 24-year-old is one of Gernot Rohr’s five midfielders named for the games on October 7 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and three days later in Douala, Cameroon.

The Everton star will not travel down for the game, according to Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr, due to a minor injury.

Injuries forced Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, and Kingsley Michael to miss the games against the Central Africa Republic.

“Iwobi will not be available for the game due to a minor issue,” Rohr explained.

Terem Moffi, a forward from Lorient, has been called up to replace Iwobi for the games.

Everton manager Rafa Benitez also revealed that the Nigerian is a major doubt for Saturday’s Premier League match against Manchester United due to a minor problem.’

The Toffees will be without Seamus Coleman, Fabian Delph, Richarlison, Andre Gomes, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the game, according to Benitez, who also stated that the quartet is improving “little by little” as they prepare to return to competitive action.

“Alex (Iwobi) has a little problem and I don’t know if he will be available for today (Saturday),” Benitez said at his pre-match press conference at USM Finch Farm on Friday.

Abdul Reveals Nigeria Weightlifting Federation’s Plans

Dr Ibrahim Abdul, the newly elected President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), has outlined his plans for the development of the sport over the next four years.

On Friday, Dr Abdul told reporters that the Federation would prioritize the welfare of athletes and coaches (officials and referees).

“The NWF will collaborate with military and paramilitary organizations to create employment opportunities for weightlifters,” he said.

“The new board wants to build on the efforts and achievements of the late Yahaya Mohammed, the former President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation,” Abdul said. The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation won the most medals for the country at the 2019 African Games in Morocco. The current board of directors hopes to break the African Games record and compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

“The board also wants to concentrate on addressing the Federation’s equipment deficit.

“We want to work with the military and paramilitary organizations to help weightlifters find work, and the board will take the issue of anti-doping very seriously.”

Governors in Nigeria have been urged by prominent clerics, religious leaders, and eminent sons and daughters of the Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State to adopt the strategy used by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in combating insecurity in his state for the country as a whole.

This call came during a special prayer for the nation and a symposium against insecurity convened by religious leaders in Ilorin, Nigeria’s ancient capital.

The theme of the conference was “Rise Against Insecurity in Nigeria” (RAIN).
The prayer for the country, according to Dr. Mohammed Gambari of the University of Ilorin’s Department of Religious Studies, was part of the activities commemorating the country’s independence.

He stated that the fight could not be left solely in the hands of state governments or the federal government and that everyone must work together to free Nigeria from the grip of “aliens who have turned into blood-sucking demons.”

“Together, we must make Nigeria better for our unborn generations to live quality lives,” he adds.
“In this regard, we, sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate, want to single out the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for the strategy of involving all indigenes in the fight against insecurity, keeping youths busy with worthwhile jobs, and making the task of securing the state everybody’s business,” the Ilorin sons and daughters said. Other governors, particularly those in the north, should follow in his footsteps.

“We can play politics, but when it comes to the security of lives and property, we must rally behind those who are getting it right and learn from them so that we can improve our domains rather than engage in acts of sabotage.

Because Kogi State was created from the old Kwara State, we can proudly say that Bello is one of our beloved sons with whom we take great pride. Despite the fact that the state is bordered by ten states, there has been relative peace since the assumption of this young governor, calm enough to make it the safest state in the north, if not Nigeria.”

Dr. Hadi Mashood Atanda, Director, Academic Planning, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, who spoke as a guest speaker, said that a leader like Gov. Bello should be given a chance to lead the country in 2023.
He claimed that in his current position, he had demonstrated his ability to lead Nigeria effectively.
He said it was no longer in anyone’s interest to stand by and watch as the blood was spilled on a daily basis in the name of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of crime and criminality that had almost become the norm in Nigeria.

The religious leaders urged all Ilorin descendants, Kwarans, and Nigerians to unite against insecurity in the country and make criminals’ lives unbearable.
“In the interest of all Nigerians, we also call on politicians and governments at all levels to refrain from politicizing the issue of insecurity,” they added.

Chief Adebayo Salami, a top Nollywood actor and Ilorin native, spoke at the event and agreed with everything that had been said, adding that the program was necessary at this time due to rising insecurity.
He urged everyone to take up the fight against insecurity as a personal mission.
Imam Sulaiman Al-Gambari, the Imam Gambari of Ilorin, led the nation’s prayer.
