To thrive, the Nigerian creative industry requires ongoing sponsorship, funding, and support.

The minister made the remarks after seeing Wole Soyinka’s play “Death and the King’s Horsemen” at the TERRA KULTURE in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

“After agriculture, the creative industry employs the largest number of people, particularly young people and women. Donations and sponsorships are needed to support the creative industries. Without the sponsors, this production would not have been possible, so we must all work together to help grow the industry,” the Minister stated.

Alhaji Mohammed, in response to Wole Soyinka’s play “Death and the King’s Horsemen,” described Nigerians as “people with cultures even before they were colonized by the White man.”

He stated, “We need to be proud of our roots and culture.”

Mohammed praised the play, saying that the play itself, the death, and the King’s Horsemen all depicted different interpretations and understandings.

Another takeaway from the play, he said, was leadership.

“You can’t take advantage of a situation while refusing to bear its burden,” the minister said.

Bolanle Austen Peters, the Artistic Director of Terra Kulture, stated that the creative industry tells stories that are relevant to society.

“Life imitates art, and art imitates life.” It’s great to have lighthearted plays or films, but we also need to be able to use art as a catalyst for social change. That is exactly what we do here. We tell important stories, particularly folklore.

“We’ve done ‘Olurinbi,’ ‘Moremi,’ and a story on Fela and his wives,” says the producer. The list could go on and on.

“The goal is to keep bringing stories to the forefront that our forefathers created and from which they taught their children values,” she said.

According to Peters, there is a widespread appreciation for African arts, culture, and music.

“People are starting to realize that Nigeria has a civilization that is likely older than what western countries have been selling for so long.” “It’s unfortunate that colonialism halted our development, but interestingly, many of us are realizing how beautiful and important it is for our children to be grounded in their heritage,” she concluded.

Oluwole Oke, a member of the House of Representatives, has urged aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State to put down their swords and unite to ensure that the party wins the state’s upcoming governorship election.

Oke, who is a member of the National Assembly for Osun State’s Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, has urged Senator Francis Fadahunsi, the state’s only PDP senator, to rise to the occasion and unite the party’s various factions in the interest of all stakeholders.
Oke also said that with his current position, Fadahunsi should automatically be the party’s leader in the state, according to a statement he issued on Monday titled, “Allow peace, unity in Osun PDP.”

Senator Ademola Adeleke, who was the PDP’s candidate in the state’s last governorship election, should have been the adopted candidate for this year’s election, according to tradition and convention.

“In the interest of our great party, the PDP, I am appealing to all feuding factions in Osun State to sheathe their swords and embrace peace, so that the party’s bright chances and resounding goodwill will not be squandered in the forthcoming governorship election,” Oke, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, said.

“Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, as the party’s only senator from Osun State, is the state’s leader, while Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the party’s erstwhile gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election, ought to have been adopted, unless he declined.”

The lawmaker stated that there was no better time than now for all party leaders, stalwarts, and stakeholders to come together and avert “the looming disaster that is about to consume the party due to selfish interests of some members, which must not happen.”

While noting Fadahunsi’s vantage position in Ijesaland as a means of uniting the party, Oke urged the senator to use his weight, position, and office to genuinely reconcile all factions.

According to the lawmaker, if all of the PDP’s disgruntled members can work out their differences, the party will win future elections.
According to Oke, all aggrieved members who had pending court cases against the PDP should withdraw them immediately in the interest of peaceful reconciliation as the first step toward permanent peace.

“If the PDP wins the upcoming governorship election in the state, every party faithful stands to reap bountifully; the Ife/Ijesa zone may even clinch the party’s deputy governorship ticket,” he added.

Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, says that the Red and Blue line rail projects will be done in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The governor told journalists that the projects at Ikeja, Yaba, Ebute Metta, and Marina stations would be done on time.

Part of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s intermodal transportation system is the Red and Blue line rails. They help cut down on gridlock and make sure that different parts of the state are connected.

It will be done when the 37-mile Red Line Rail Project is done. The 27.5-mile Blue Line Rail Project will go from Okokomaiko to Marina.

He was pleased with the speed of work at the rail stations because the contractors were on time. He hoped that they would finish the work on the Blue and Red lines on time so that businesses could start later this year.

“Our promise on the blue and red lines is still on track.” We think that by coming to check on them every three months, we will be able to see the trains on the tracks by the end of this year.

That is our promise, and we will start to keep an eye on and check on ourselves.

“It is a very important project that we are very proud of.” In the name of the government, I want to give a big thank you to all of our contractors because they are very dedicated.

“They have told us that no matter what, they will finish all of the projects on time and on budget,” the governor said.

He said he would step up the supervision and monitoring of the projects every three months to speed up their completion.

Three or four months ago, we went on a tour like this one. We said that we would do it every three or four months so that we could see how far the constructions were going.

“We’ve all seen that the construction is going on as planned,” I say. Even though today isn’t a working day, all of the contractors are still on the job site and working.

He also said that the state government plans to move the market near the Yaba train station. The government is talking to people who live near the station about how to move the traders to a new place.

Ikeja, Yaba, Ebute-Metta, and Marina were all visited by Mr. Sanwo-Olu on Monday. There had been a lot of progress on the construction of the four stations since the September 25, 2021, visit.

NAN says that the Ikeja Station, which will be the main iconic station for the red line project, was built on the foundation level in September. The project is now at the second floor level, and the third floor, which is the last floor, is still to be built.

The road work in Ikeja, as well as the work on the overpass from Obafemi Awolowo to the Agege Motor Road, is also going on.

Three months ago, the contractor was digging at the Yaba site. They are now decking the second floor, in line with the contractor’s order, to make sure that they meet the deadline and the timelines set out in that order, as well.

The Ebute-Metta Station is way ahead of schedule because the contractor has finished the station’s body. The governor’s entourage was able to walk into the station without any trouble.

Improvements have also been made at Marina Station. The beams that will be used to build the station have already been made and kept in a safe place.
