Inauguration of 7-man judicial panel illegal, Aliyu Gusau, Zamfara PDP Legal Adviser

0

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has decried the establishment of a seven-man judicial panel to investigate the state’s Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, as an abuse of the court order.

Barrister Bashir Abubakar Masama, the state PDP Legal Adviser, said it was the height of incompetence for the state House of Assembly to write to the state chief judge requesting the formation of a judicial panel while the case was still pending in the Federal High Court in Abuja.

“Until the case is resolved, the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that everyone maintain the status quo, and we have written to the state chief judge.”
“The House forgot that the panel would invite the Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau to defend himself before it would conclude its assignment,” he added.

Barrister Masama noted that the same House of Assembly initiated the 7-man judicial panel and the House could not wait for the panel to finish its investigation and submit its report before boasting that no court order can stop it from impeaching the Deputy Governor.

“This signifies that the State House of Assembly is not following due process in their activities.”

He said that all PDP leaders in the state have deserted the state for the fear of being killed mercilessly by the ruling APC thugs in the state, saying the only member of PDP left in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Salisu Zurmi has escaped from the state and nobody knows his whereabouts.

Under the bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan highway, cops spotted the suspect in full police camouflage uniform.

On Saturday, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police, said that the suspect’s actions piqued the patrol team’s interest, and they stopped to question him.

“As soon as the patrol car came to a halt, the suspect bolted. After that, he was pursued and apprehended.
“On interrogation, he confessed being a dismissed policeman, but using the uniform to extort unsuspecting members of the public,” Oyeyemi said.

Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, has urged the police in Ebonyi State to release Mr Chika Nwoba, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) State Publicity Secretary, who was arrested in January.

Saraki expressed his disappointment in a statement released by his media office over the weekend, saying that a citizen was arrested on the flimsy charge of “circulating false information” and detained for more than a month without a fair hearing.

While describing the arrest carried out by the state security group called Ebubeagwu before the intervention of the police as “an assault on the country’s democracy”, the former Senate President stated that a situation where a citizen was suddenly seized and beaten to a stupor before being detained in the police station for several weeks does not speak well for the nation’s democracy.

“The remand in police cell of Mr Nwoba, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ebonyi State, is of great concern for me as a person who loves Nigeria and above all as someone who loves justice. It is really disappointing that injustice has transcended every facet of our country.

“The gentleman deserves the right to fair hearing under the law. He has been controversially remanded for more than a month after being arrested under a situation which started like he was being kidnapped. Since then, he has been prevented from meeting any member of his family. Any way, my sympathy goes out to his wife and kids who must be going through a tough time at the moment.

“Mr Nwoba is a dutiful member of our great party, PDP, and he is paying the price of speaking truth to power. Without any doubt, this is another concerted effort to silence the opposition and undermine democracy.

“This act of injustice being promoted and foisted by those in power in Ebonyi State, is nothing but an assault on our democracy and our collective freedom as citizens of this country because an injury to one is an injury to all. This is a time for every well meaning Nigerian and most especially the leaders of our party, the PDP, to stand up and stand with one of our own.

“We all need to save our nation from the misfortune wreaked by injustice and miscarriage of Justice. It is important to note that the case is presently in a Magistrate court and we sincerely hope justice will be dispensed promptly and without any delay”, Saraki stated

Uche Nwosu: HURIWA takes PSC to court over church invasion

The Police Service Commission has appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja in relation to the armed policemen’s invasion of St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Owerri, Imo State.

Remember that on Sunday, December 26, 2021, masked gunmen stormed the church, with reports claiming that they were kidnappers who whisked Uche Nwosu, a former governorship aspirant in the state, away.

They had fired sporadically in the church during service while removing Nwosu, and the police later clarified the situation, saying they had carried out the arrest, which many saw as a kidnapping attempt.
Although Nwosu was subsequently moved to Abuja by the policemen and later released, the police are yet to explain why Nwosu, who is the son-in-law to former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, was arrested in a Gestapo style.

And in a suit filed before the court by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA sought an order of mandamus compelling the respondent – the Police Service Commission – to probe the church invasion and the attempted kidnap of Nwosu.

The human rights advocacy group also sought “an order of mandamus compelling the PSC to investigate the shootings inside and around the church premises.

“An order to tender before this court and case also the applicant with a certified true copy of the findings and or result of the said investigations.”

The group also wants an order to prosecute, discipline and or punish any of its employee(s) who is found culpable.

Some of the grounds relied upon by HURIWA to sought the reliefs include,

“That the police officers acted without regards to innocent citizens, children, worshippers in the church premises as the shot recklessly into the influence of some drugs or alcohol.”

“That the PSC is clothed with the powers to amongst other thing dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over persons who are police officers except the inspector general of police..”

Before resolving to go to court, HURIWA’s demand for the arrest and prosecution of all culpable police officers had proved abortive.

Edo’s governor, Godwin Obaseki, says his administration is prepared to combat the state’s growing Internet fraud problem.

The governor said the Internet fraudsters, also known as Yahoo Yahoo boys, must be very bright to carry out such illegal activities, speaking at a state education town hall meeting on Friday.

The government, according to Obaseki, must assist fraudsters in reorienting their thinking toward positive endeavors.

“I’m worried.” The issues of cyber fraud and Yahoo culture are significant. “I’m requesting that everyone send as much information as possible to my office,” Obaseki said.
“On Monday, I am going to see the chairman of EFCC. I am not condemning those involved. There must be a reason why that culture has become so prolific in Edo state. We must find the root cause and address them as we did in the days of trafficking.

“Let’s see how we can correct it because these children must be very brilliant. The kind of things they do, how they hack into other people’s accounts. How do we re-direct that thinking into something more positive?”

Reno Omokri, a former Presidential aide, has urged Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola to reveal the secret behind the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) National Leader Bola Tinubu’s wealth.

Omokri was reacting to Aregbesola’s candidate, Moshood Adeoti, losing his (Aregbesola) ward to his political rival, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, in the APC primary election for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State.

According to Omokri, a social activist, if the minister does not act to stifle Tinubu’s political ambitions, the former Lagos State Governor and Oyetola may frustrate him after President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Omokri urged Buhari’s Minister to expose the real age and other secrets Tinubu, a 2023 presidential candidate, may have been keeping from Nigerians.

He said, “See how you have been disgraced by Tinubu and Oyetola in Osun. Now is the time for you to expose your godfather, Tinubu. Tell the world his real name, his genuine age, and the secret behind his stupendous wealth. You know those secrets. Now, spill the beans! Because if you remain silent now, Oyetola and Tinubu will only grow politically stronger.

“And when Buhari goes in 2023, you will be naked with nobody to protect you. Imagine how miserable your life will be with Tinubu in Aso Rock and Oyetola in Osogbo.

“You see what I am doing to Buhari as #BuhariTormentor? Multiply that by a factor of ten. That is what they will do to you. So, better talk now, or be silenced after 2023.”

2023: It’s Disgraceful That Old Bullion Van Politicians Refuse To Leave The Stage For Youths— Bakare, Pastor

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has decried the refusal of old Nigerians to step down from the political stage in favor of the youths.

Bakare blamed the country’s problems on “moneybags and bullion van politicians,” whom he accused of wanting to be in power at the expense of the younger generation.

The attitude of older Nigerian politicians, he said, who have refused to give the youth a chance in leadership positions, is a shame.

On Saturday, the Pastor spoke at the launch of “Footsteps of a Rebel,” an autobiography written by the Babanla Adinni of Egbaland, Chief Tayo Sowunmi, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, to commemorate his 80th birthday.
While delivering a speech tagged ‘Worthy Nation Building Legacies By The Older Generation of Nigerians’, Bakare called for inter-generational re-integration between older and younger generations.

This, according to Bakare, is part of efforts to rebuild the Nigerian nation.

He maintained that, “It is a shame that while younger generations are taking over leadership in other countries, older generation refuses to leave the stage in Nigeria.”

He condemned the alleged sidestepping of the youth, saying this has hampered the development of Nigeria.

“The nation’s development has suffered because of the marginalisation of the youth and the progressives who abandoned politics,” Bakare said.

While calling for generational reintegration from the households, the Ogun indigene called for the embracing of cultural values to foster nation building.

He also suggested mentoring and leadership development for the younger generation.

Ebonyi PDP Guber Aspirant Faults Ayodele’s Prophecy in 2023

Hon. Chris Usulor, a leading gubernatorial aspirant in Ebonyi State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, took a swipe at the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, over an alleged false prophecy over the weekend.

Usulor and three (3) other governorship aspirants in Ebonyi are said to have been predicted to fail in 2023 by Primate Elijah Ayodele.

Usulor, a third-term member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and a senatorial aspirant from the Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, had expressed interest in running for governor in the 2023 general election.

Chief Chris Usulor tasked the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ayodele, to be sure of the names he saw in his prophecy and denied being among the people he saw.

Usulor said: “Our attention has been drawn to Primate Ayodele’s prophecy. The name of our aspirant is Hon Chris Usulor and not Uzulor as Primate Ayodele saw in his prophecy.

“When God ministers to his true and chosen prophets, the prophecy is always clear without any ambiguities or confusion and God is not a God of attention seeker.

“True men of God are judged and respected by their past proven prophecy records. Hon Chris Usulor candidacy is divine as exemplified by the number of respected clergymen that are supporting him, coupled with an overwhelming support by the people of Ebonyi state.

“The second commandment states” thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain” and the 9th commandment says” thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbour.”

“Hon Chris Usulor is ready and focused to answer the clarion call of Ebonyi people who are aiding him to lead them as their governor come 2023.

“We advise Primate Ayodele not to fall victim to desperate political contenders in the state, who might have offered him money knowing fully well, they don’t stand any chance with Hon Chris Usulor” , the statement noted.

Investigation revealed that the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ayodele had in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, stated that the politicians mentioned should not waste money on election campaigns because God has not anointed them to lead the state.

According to Ayodele: “some politicians who will not be governors of their states in 2023, despite having ambitions to succeed their governors.
