Gov. Seyi Makinde congratulates Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on the occasion of his 58th birthday

On the occasion of his 58th birthday, Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, congratulated his Enugu State counterpart, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Ugwuanyi, according to Governor Makinde, is a bridge-builder and a detribalized patriot who believes strongly in the Nigeria project.

Makinde was cited in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa, as asking to God to give Governor Ugwuanyi additional years to serve his people and mankind at large.
According to Makinde, the governor of Enugu State, like his fellow PDP colleagues, has shown that there is still hope for Nigeria, and it is vital to honor him by praying for a long life and more grace.

“On the occasion of his 58th birthday, I honor my brother, Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.”

Four people killed as gunmen attack Uzodinma’s hometown police station

Gunmen have stormed the Omuma Divisional Police Headquarters in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, which is the home town of the state’s governor, Hope Uzodinma, only 24 hours after the Umuguma Divisional Police Headquarters in Owerri West LGA was attacked.

On Saturday, gunmen assaulted Prof George Obiozor, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, at his country residence in Awo-Omanma, Oru East LGA.

On arriving at the Omuma Divisional Police Headquarters, the assailants were said to have engaged police officers in a gunfight.
Four of the assailants were killed, according to state police spokesman Micheal Abattam, after police officers and Department of Security Service agents engaged the terrorists in a fire fight.

“From the neutralized bandits, five undetonated Improvised Explosive Devices of various sizes, as well as charms, were seized on the scene.” The devices have been brought into custody by the Police Bomb Unit for explosion.

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended Okeke Adolphus Anayochukwu, a 52-year-old father of four, with black liquid cocaine (NAIA).

Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, stated in a statement on Sunday that this was the first time anything like this had occurred.
According to Babafemi, Okeke, who claimed to be a businessman, was apprehended with 20.75 kilos of black liquid cocaine upon his arrival at the Abuja airport aboard a Qatar Airways aircraft from Sao Paulo, Brazil, through Doha, Qatar, to Abuja on Tuesday, March 15th.

He said the liquid was found during a check of his two suitcases, which were crammed with six smaller bags containing 32 mascara tubes that tested positive for cocaine.

Bandits planted explosives in a Niger community- Sani Bello

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has revealed that the state’s fugitive terror groups, Ali Kawaje, Yello Jambros, Kachalla Halilu, and Bello Turji, had set explosives in Galadima-Kogo, Shiroro Local Government Area, including the current ones discovered by security forces.

Governor Bello, who made the announcement while visiting the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp at Central Primary School Gwada, Shiroro LG, said that police bomb-detecting specialists are working tirelessly to explode the freshly found explosives.

The Governor described the actions of informants who primarily contributed to terror group exploits as “extremely regrettable,” and stated that with the arrest of many of them by security officers in recent weeks, the IDPs will soon be able to return to their homes and begin a new life.

Governor Bello added that in addition to arming vigilante groups, additional conventional security personnel have been sent to Niger state, and new techniques for dealing with the security situation have been implemented.

In the meanwhile, Governor Bello has urged the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Power to begin compensating communities affected by the current Zungeru Hydro Dam project as soon as possible.

Governor Bello also paid a visit to Aliyu Umar Gurumana, the District Head of Galadima-Kogo, who informed the Governor that they wanted to return to their ancestral homes to prepare for the next agricultural season as the rainy season approached.

NCPC Boss Says Sustainability Is A Huge Challenge In Leadership

Rev. Dr Yakubu Pam, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), has stated that one of the most difficult challenges in leadership is sustainability.

This was stated by Rev. Pam while hosting the Jos Divisional Indigenous Cultural Organization (JODICO) at his office at the NCPC corporate headquarters in Abuja.

“I thank you all for the effort to come to visit me not for your personal gain but for the progress of the people you serve,” he said, acknowledging the elders of JODICO’s visit.

He, on the other hand, urged the elders to remain firm in their various leadership roles.

“The role of a leader is a difficult one,” he says, “because you can be weak and strong at the same time.”

“The people are always there to put the leader in check and force him to rise to his feet,” he added.

The NCPC Scribe explained that their visit was worthwhile because they were there to figure out how to resurrect JODICO.

He assured them that he would do everything in his power to restore the JODICO tribes.
The Executive Secretary also urged JODICO’s elders to keep the founding fathers’ vision alive, saying that “the people’s vision should be checked, pursued, and focused to achieve it.”

In his address, Hon. Aminu Zang, the leader of the delegation from the Jos Divisional Indigenous Cultural Organization (JODICO), revealed that the elders paying the courtesy visit were carefully selected elders over the age of 70, and that they were in the Commission to celebrate their joy at the appointment of one of their own as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission.

“Knowing the Executive Secretary’s pedigree and humble nature, his appointment is well deserved,” he says. “The visit may appear late, but it’s better late than never,” he says, and the delegation has come to identify with him.

The Executive Secretary, according to Hon. Zang, is a “true man of the People” and a leader who “leads in the right direction.” He also praised the Commission for its grandeur, saying, “God doesn’t make mistakes; he looked at your track record and elevated you to this position.”

One of the delegation’s members, Hon. Gini Umar, explained that JODICA is made up of six Plateau State local governments that have banded together as one.

He pleaded with the Executive Secretary to assist in reuniting JODICO, noting that they had been separated for some time.

He also urged the Executive Secretary to champion JODICO’s cause in the Northern Zone without personal gain.

The bodies of 17 migrants attempting to reach Europe were discovered off Tunisia’s northeast coast on Saturday, according to the civil defense.

The bodies washed up between Friday and Saturday off Cape Bon, a peninsula on the Sicilian strait, according to spokesman Moez Triaa.

According to a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, Access Bank Plc will pay a total dividend of N35. 545 billion to shareholders in the 2021 financial year, translating to N1 for every 50 kobo share.

After paying an interim dividend of N0.30, Access Bank will now pay a final dividend of N.70 per share.

The bank will pay a total dividend of N30.25 billion in 2020, while it will pay a final dividend of N14.22 billion in 2019, equating to 40k per share.

In 2021, the financial institution made N972 billion in revenue, up 51% from the previous year.

Dividends are subject to withholding tax, which must be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the register of members on April 19.

According to the notice, the shareholder register will close on April 20.

“Shareholders who have not yet completed their e-dividend registration should download the Registrar’s E-Dividend Mandate Activation Form,” it stated.

Thousands of supporters of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello besieged major streets in Bauchi on Saturday to rally support for his presidential bid in 2023.

According to Our Reporter, supporters began their rally at the Multi-purpose indoor sports hall, then marched through Kobi Street, Emir Drive, Central Market, and finally to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa tomb.

For a few hours, there was heavy traffic, but it subsided once they arrived at the tomb of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The supporters sang and danced as they marched, carrying banners, posters, and other items with various inscriptions announcing the governor of Kogi State’s presidential ambitions and pledging their support.

At the tomb of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Moh’d Jamiu, thanked the crowd for showing support for his Principal’s presidential ambitions, describing him as a “very young politician” who has excelled where many older politicians have failed in the country.

“Yahaya Bello is a young man who has the interests of the country’s youth at heart; he has been supporting the youths and women, and in sha Allah, as President of Nigeria, he will do even more for the youths and women.”

“Yahaya Bello will make the best of Nigeria in 2023, continuing and improving on all of the good programs and policies of President Muhammadu Buhari’s APC administration,” he said.

He urged all supporters of all political parties who have not yet received their voter cards to do so as soon as possible now that INEC is conducting continuous voter registration because, according to him, that is the only weapon they need to vote for Yahaya Bello, the ruling All Progressives Congress’ presidential candidate (APC).

He warned them against engaging in any political thuggery that would tarnish Yahaya Bello’s good name and integrity, emphasizing that their President in 2023 despises violence and thuggery, and that they should avoid such acts.

The crowd then proceeded to the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu’s palace, where Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff delivered a message to the Emir seeking the Emir’s royal blessings on his presidential ambitions in 2023.

He promised that Yahaya Bello’s presidency of Nigeria will accord traditional rulers their due respect, dignity, and status as fathers of all, as he has done in Kogi state for the past seven years.
