Reacting in a post on his Twitter handle, Special Counsel to Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor challenged Igbo politicians to fight against injustice in the region rather than engaging in talks about election.
He tweeted, “Dear #Ndigbo, especially the POLITICIANS: Why are you talking about 2023 Elections & not the rising violence & injustice in Southeast? Plus the militarization of SE? Who will vote for you? The thousands that are either in jail or dead? #MNK.”

Breaking: Governor Fayemi of APC rejects consensus agreement, claiming that Buhari’s candidates would fight it out
Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has denied endorsing candidates nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Convention.
The appointment of the APC’s new National Working Committee (NWC) has caused a schism within the governing party.
Kayode Fayemi is a Nigerian actress.
According to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as National Chairman of the party caused a schism within the party.
However, as part of the effort to resolve this, Buhari met with governors in Aso Rock on Wednesday, after which a resolution was apparently achieved.
When the issue of Adamu’s support was broached, a governor from the North West said that he had no objections. He also said that the national secretary problem had been settled.
While confirming the governor’s remark, a senior source claimed the governors aligned themselves with President Buhari’s stance on Adamu at the villa meeting.
“They agreed with the president’s stance on Adamu as national chairman, while all other posts were already authorized by the president before,” the source added.
Atiku Bagudu, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State, told media after the meeting that a ceasefire had been established to fill the NWC slots by agreement.
He said that the PGF was in favour of President Buhari’s chairmanship nominee, but declined to identify the candidate.
Fayemi, however, denied backing candidates backed by the president during a high-level policy conversation organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) on Thursday.
APC tells PDP’s Adeleke: You’ll meet your waterloo in Osun
The comment attributed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, urging Osun to reject Oyetola’s normalization of poverty was termed as useless political innuendo by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
After seeing what the Adegboyega Oyetola government had done, the Osun APC Director of Publicity, Research, and Strategy, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi, said in a statement acquired by the party that the Osun public was smarter.

The APC challenged Adeleke to participate in study work in the nooks and crannies of Osun on developmental initiatives and programmes being implemented by the State governor, while predicting that the PDP will meet its waterloo in the State’s gubernatorial election on July 16.
The Osun APC advised him to begin his investigation in his hometown of Ede and inform the rest of the world about how Oyetola’s efforts have helped Edeland greatly.
“For the love of God, we have no idea who is pushing Ademola to become governor of Osun.” In a state like Osun, he lacks the knowledge and qualities of a governor. After all, he aspired to be a Nollywood performer, and he could have done better.
“We predicted a few months ago that when Governor Oyetola had been in office for two years, the people of Osun, including opposition members, would actually beg him to stay on after his first term.” As a result, the residents of Abere would choose Oyetola over Ademola.
“What the PDP has created in Osun is a disgrace to Nigerian democracy. Ademola is unfit to lead the administration since he has nothing to offer the state’s citizens.

“The citizens of Osun know better than Ademola believes, and they will surprise him again in the July 16 gubernatorial election with a severe defeat that his dance talent will not be able to prevent,” Oyatomi said.
My Achievements Will Speak For Me For My Re-Election – Oyetola
Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state has stated that his accomplishments in many areas in the state during his more than three years in office will speak for him and assure his re-election in the 2022 gubernatorial election on July 16, 2022.
This was said by Oyetola at an interaction event with the State Barbers Association on Wednesday at Orita Elelede in the state’s Olorunda Local Government Area.
Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the governor’s Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, said the governor has placed smiles on the faces of the people in the state with the few resources at his disposal.
Oyetola, who thanked the people of the state for their unwavering support for his government from its inception, warned them not to allow greedy politicians to undo the state’s monumental achievements.
The governor stated that he would never be sidetracked by political maneuverings and would instead focus on providing high-quality services to the people, adding that God’s will would be done via the people’s support, which had been the cornerstone of his administration.
Oyetola, who stated that he would spare no effort in accelerating the speed of good governance that his government had implemented for the masses, emphasized that the people remained behind him and that he would be re-elected in the next election.
He said that his administration has dedicated the previous three and a half years to human development and capacity building through empowering adolescents via different programmes.
The governor said that he had also implemented many social intervention programs for disadvantaged populations, as well as timely salary and pension payments.
Other major industries, such as agriculture, mining, and tourism, are being promoted, according to him, to provide a significant boost to the state’s economic index.

Oyetola also claimed that his government had enhanced people’s social well-being by revitalizing general hospitals and over 300 primary health centers out of the state’s 332.
He stated that a 120-bed ward and physicians’ quarters were built at the state Specialist Hospital in Asubiaro, in addition to the implementation of a health insurance program to provide people with quality and inexpensive health care.
In terms of infrastructure development, the governor claimed that his government had rebuilt road networks in all nine of the state’s Federal Constituencies.
The completed N2.1 billion Olaiya flyover, which was built to alleviate traffic congestion in the area, would also help limit the outgrowth of the present administration’s effort toward sustainable industrialization, according to Oyetola.
The governor stated that he has no doubt that the people of the state, who have been supportive of him, would campaign for his re-election to ensure continuity.
Mr. Sunday Obafemi, the association’s president, praised the governor for his people-oriented programs and policies, which are having a beneficial impact on the people.
The governor’s accomplishments in the areas of health, infrastructure, social intervention, and empowerment, according to Obafemi, are laudable.
He also thanked the governor for creating an enabling and welcoming atmosphere for the association’s members to function in.

“We have a lot of boost in the sectors of our business because of a series of government initiatives,” he added.
“We’ve never had it so nice in our lives.” That is why, as an association, we are throwing our support behind him for re-election, so that the good times may continue.”
48 hours to convention: APC in last minute rush for consensus, as aspirants defy Buhari
Since the founding of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2013, the party has never had more than one candidate for National Chairman at a convention.
Former Governor of Osun State Bisi Akande served as a temporary governor after the merger, while Tom Ikimi declined to attend the 2014 convention that produced John Oyegun. Later, Ikimi called the 2014 conference a “sham.”
The party made sure Adams Oshiomhole was a consensus candidate in his situation.
Despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s demand that the party field a consensus candidate, 2022 has proved to be an exception.
Despite the fact that the office of National Chairman is designated to the North-Central, several candidates from beyond the area have resisted the system. Former governors of Zamfara and Borno, Abdulaziz Yari and Alimodu Sherrif, have refused to follow the President’s orders or the zoning agreement.
Mr. Yari remarked on Tuesday night, while lobbying members of the House of Representatives on behalf of the APC, that since Buhari, with his 12 million votes, will not be on the ballot next year, the party needs a strong leader. He bragged that the Northwest received 35% of the party’s total vote.

Similarly, North-Central candidates George Akume, Tanko Almakura, Sani Musa, Abdulahi Adamu, Saliu Mustapha, and Muhammed Etsu have all refused to resign for anybody.
While the Governors are said to have nominated Senator Abdulahi Adamu, a former Governor of Nasarawa, as a consensus choice, the candidate’s age has been a problem.
“Do you know how much we have spent so far, then you will bring one octogenarian to preside over a party,” a source in Salihu Mustapha’s camp stated yesterday when the contender visited the National Assembly on Wednesday. That’s not going to work.”
“With the convention only two days away, I ask you to come together and sort out all the remaining party positions so that within the next 24 hours, we can arrive at a unity list that we can present to the convention,” President Buhari said at a meeting with governors on Wednesday night.
“Finally, all people who have purchased interest forms and have been dropped should have their money reimbursed as soon as possible.”
“Ticket money is least, you know how long some of the candidates had opened campaign offices in Abuja?” the source added when called again. Paying employees and arranging logistics for consultations. This last-minute scramble will not succeed.”
Despite this, according to Abubakar Bagudu, the governor of Kebbi State, the President appears to be optimistic about finding a consensus candidate.

“We all informed Mr. President on that today, and we all expressed our support for Mr. President’s endorsement of the candidate for the party’s National Chairman,” he added.
It’s unclear how much power the President wields over the party.
It will be noted that when the President “purportedly dismissed” Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, called the President’s bluff.
After Buni refused to resign and INEC refused to recognize Sani Bello, President Buhari was forced to amend his position.
Sanwo-Olu officially Launches Lagos Ride Taxi Scheme
Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, today formally launched the Lagos Ride Taxi Scheme, which includes 1000 GS3 and GA4 Sport Utility Vehicles.
This is in response to Mr. Governor’s declaration in March 2021, when the new e-hailing cab program was unveiled to enhance Lagos State’s multi-modal transportation network.

Security incorporated dashboard cameras in each car for real-time activity monitoring, as well as a panic button connected to a central command center that may be utilized by either party within the car in the event of an assault or emergency.
Zelensky urges Biden not to sanction Abramovich in Russia-Ukraine conflict
According to the Mirror, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has encouraged US President Joe Biden not to impose penalties on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich because he may be a beneficial conduit in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Due of his suspected links to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the UK government has placed stringent penalties on Abramovich, including the seizure of Chelsea.
However, following a call from Zelensky after his conversation with Ukraine’s president on a range of measures, including plans for the Russian billionaire, Biden has resisted temptation to target Abramovich.
In contrast to the US, Abramovich has responded to a request from Zelensky’s advisers to assist broker peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, a situation that has resulted in the UK government seizing his British properties, including Chelsea.

The White House is said to have convinced the US Treasury Department not to go forward with preparations to target Abramovich and his enterprises, according to the article.

Woman Killed And Burnt For Demandind Her Father’s Inheritance In Ebonyi
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) denounced the brutal death of an Ebonyi woman who wanted her portion of her father’s property yesterday.
Nnenaya Onu, a 35-year-old single woman, was reportedly murdered and burned alive by her assailants, with no record of their (assailants) capture in the State after the occurrence.
In Onicha Igboeze Community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, she was allegedly tortured, stripped nude, dismembered, and burned alive.
According to the inquiry, the girl was slain beside her late father’s house, since her only sibling perished in the town under suspicious circumstances a few years earlier.
Mr. Christopher Onyekachi Okorie, State Coordinator, National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, confirmed the occurrence and added:

“She was brutally killed, her limb severed and her things piled on top of her as she was burned beyond recognition.”
“It all happened behind her father’s house in Onicha Igbeze, Ebonyi State’s Onicha Local Government Area.
“Her old suffering mother accuses her relatives of the crime since they (the aforementioned Cousins) threatened her life countless times before she was slain, mutilated, and burned.
“Her assailants prevented anybody in the hamlet from speaking about the incident or even posting a photo of her burned body on social media or in any other way.”
“Her destitute mother is desperate for justice but lacks the financial means to fund police investigations and arrests.”
According to Vanguard, the child was slain when her mother left the village to meet Juliet, her daughter, in Abakaliki.
The State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, speaking on the phone with Vanguard, said he had sent a petition to the Ebonyi State Police Command about the event and had yet to get a response.
“According to the deceased’s sister, the event occurred on December 23, 2021, and nothing has been done since then to bring the victim justice.”

EFCCreleases Obiano on bail, international passport seizes
Willie Obiano, the former governor of Anambra State, was freed on administrative bail on Wednesday evening by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Last Saturday, the EFCC refused to release Obiano on administrative bail, but on Monday, it overturned its judgment and granted him bail with strict terms.
Obiano was detained by the EFCC after failing to satisfy some of the requirements, while his friends and colleagues worked to gain his release.
Obiano eventually satisfied the requirements on Wednesday evening, and he was released to family members.
His international passport, however, was apparently taken to prevent him from fleeing the country.
He will also be required to attend to the anti-graft agency’s office on a regular basis for additional questioning.

On his way to the United States, Obiano was detained hours after handing over to his successor, Chukwuma Soludo, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
He was then moved to the commission’s offices, where he was interrogated for days on allegations of misuse of N5 billion in Sure-P funds, N37 billion in cash security votes, and contract inflation.
FG Determined To Put End To Crude Oil Theft – Sylva
The federal government says it is committed to halting the economic damage caused by illicit refineries, pipeline vandalism, and crude oil theft throughout the country.
Chief Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, stated this on Wednesday in Bonny Island, Rivers, while speaking to officers from the 146 Battalion and other security agencies involved in the battle against oil theft.
With the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, and Group Managing Director, NNPC, Malam Mele Kyari, among other dignitaries, Sylva went on an evaluation trip of various illicit mining sites in the Niger Delta area stream.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the illicit operations to cease and had requested an evaluation of the damage caused by the criminals’ actions.
“You are here on a mission,” Sylva told the commanders of the 146 Battalion. “I applaud you for all the outstanding job you have done, our nation depends on this asset to exist, oil and gas is one of the country’s primary sustaining assets.”
“Unfortunately, there has been a great deal of instability surrounding oil installations and pipelines, which cannot be tolerated any longer.” Mr. President has ordered that this be put to an end.
“As courageous officers, you have come to defend these facilities; from now on, we will work closely with you to guarantee that no output is lost.”
“You have done so well so far,” the Minister said, “but there is still ground to cover, so let us all work together and protect these national assets for the good of all.” The Minister added that the final solution to the problem required three elements: community involvement, government security, and operating companies.
“We are here to reclaim this business for the country because the country has lost so much from the operations of these criminals and the government can no longer afford these activities,” Sylva said, determined to put an end to instability in the industry.
Maj.-Gen.Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff, also spoke out, stating that the evaluation was required due to the economic losses in the oil and gas industry.
Irabor stated that the economic losses were enormous, and that the country’s economy was presently bleeding.

Our goal, according to the CDS, is to look at the value chain inside the oil and gas industry and apprehend the genuine criminals as well as those who help them.
