“He will enhance the economy,” the statement said in part.
“From 1999 to 2015, he stood out among other opposition groups. It’s worth noting that as governor of LAGOS state amid the collapse of AD throughout the southwest in 2003, he managed to stay in power.

“Bola Tinubu was a key figure in the formation of modern-day Nigeria’s progressives. His influence, along with that of many others, resulted in the creation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Nigeria’s current leading political party.
“In the race for the presidency in 2023, some of us have chosen to remain with him and support him.” It is absolutely up to us to choose him.

16 Malian Soldiers Killed In Separate Attacks – Army
The army announced late Tuesday that twin assaults in Mali this week killed 16 troops and injured 18 others, in the latest bloodshed in the Sahel state.
Four troops were killed and 17 were wounded in separate assaults in the northeast and center of the conflict-torn nation on Monday, according to the statement.
According to the army, 37 “terrorists” were killed in the raid, and weapons and explosives were taken.
One of Monday’s assaults, on a military station in northern Mali, was claimed by the Islamic State.
“The mujahideen gained complete possession of the military facility and set it on fire,” the organization claimed in a statement confirmed by SITE Intelligence, which tracks jihadist activity across the globe.

NNPC report First Lady urges IAEA to change cancer narrative in Nigeria, Africa
Aisha Buhari, the First Lady of Nigeria, has encouraged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to alter the narrative on cancer in Nigeria and Africa.
Mr Aliyu Abdullahi, Buhari’s Special Assistant on Media, made the announcement in a statement.
Buhari made the statement while receiving a group from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Abuja, headed by Prof. Yusuf Ahmed, Chairman of the Nigerian Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).
She praised the International Atomic Energy Agency for starting the ‘Rays of Hope’ project.
The project was created to expand cancer patients’ access to radiation in low- and middle-income nations, which have the highest cancer rates and the lowest rates of cancer screening, diagnosis, therapy, and treatment.
“I am especially pleased with the visit since my work in cancer awareness has allowed me to see holes in the area.”
“As a result, I urge the IAEA to do more to prevent cancer-related deaths in Africa.”

“Cancer therapy advocacy is vital because most patients who can afford it move overseas to get it, while the majority of patients who cannot afford it stay with little or no management care,” she added.
The first lady expressed hope that ‘Rays of Hope’ would shift the narrative around cancer in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
“My foundation has done a lot in the field of healthcare delivery via medical outreaches throughout Nigeria in partnership with several development partners, and I would want to leave a lasting legacy in that respect,” she said.
As a result, she pledged to assist the IAEA in its cancer awareness efforts.
Prof. Yusuf Ahmed, Chairman of the NAEC, informed the first lady that the IAEA, which is cooperating with his commission, was at the White House to brief her on the Agency’s efforts in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy.
According to Ahmed, they excelled in nuclear medicine and gave assistance to nations in accomplishing their nuclear science and technology agendas.
He said that the Agency was aware of the Aisha Buhari Foundation’s achievements in the field of health advocacy in Nigeria.

According to Abdurrazak, cancer sickness imposes the largest burden on low- and middle-income nations, with more than 19 million new cases and 10 million fatalities in 2020. Low- and middle-income countries account for more than 70% of cancer deaths.
He said that the organization has been assisting several nations in developing and strengthening safe, secure, and effective radiation medical capabilities in terms of radiotherapy, radiology, and nuclear medicine for over 60 years.
As a result, the IAEA director asked the first lady to utilize her position as President of African First Ladies to continue her campaign against cancer, particularly in the areas of investment and government collaboration.
He also pleaded with the first lady to help in the bureaucratic snarls that plague the importation of cancer equipment in Nigeria.
Breaking: Alleged IPOB spy, Glory Okolie, released from prison
After more than four months in custody, Glory Okolie has been released from prison.
According to the reports that Okolie was accused of terrorism and being a member of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). She was detained and held in a cell by the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) unit of the Nigeria Police Force for more than 150 days.
Activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, who is involved in Okolie’s case, broke the news of the 21-year-old’s release via his official social media handles on Wednesday morning.
“Freedom at last. More than four months in custody, Glory Okolie has been released from prison custody.
“Glory okolie was accused of terrorism and being member of IPOB by IGP IRT headed then by Abba Kyari. Congratulations to us,” Gwamnishu wrote.
Okolie in the case filed at the FCT high court is asking the court to mandate Nigerian authorities to pay her the sum of N100,000,000,000.00 (One hundred billion Naira) as general and punitive damages separately ‘for infringing on her rights’.
According to a court document sighted by this newspaper, Okolie went missing on June 13, 2021, while running an errand in Imo state, “and never returned home on that day”.
The document reads in part: “That from the 17th June 2021, the family members started making all frantic search of the 1st applicant in hospitals, churches, and mosques, all to no avail.

“That the family members, in search of the 1st applicant actually approached the Owerri command of Nigeria Police Force, who charged the uncle of the 1st applicant, the sum of N50,000,00 to track vide telephone tracking the last known address of the 1st applicant.
“That the phone tracking above showed that the 1st applicant was detained by the respondent IGP IRT officers at their Owerri Tiger base unit of the respondent, and when the uncle approached this office, the respondent Owerri Tiger base unit denied.”

PDP heading for ‘death’ if it ‘wishes something worse than #EndSARS’ for Nigeria – Presidency
According to the Presidency, the largest opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is solely interested in destabilizing the nation in order to reclaim power.
Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, announced this in an Abuja statement on Tuesday.
He made the accusations in response to a recent PDP statement addressing the State Security Service’s (SSS) warning that certain people were plotting to foment chaos in the nation by using the energy issue as a pretext.
If the energy problem is not handled promptly, the opposition party fears that it may spark a mass movement worse than the 2020 #EndSARS rally against police abuse.
Mr Adesina, on the other hand, advised the PDP that instead of plotting and encouraging “agitation worse than October 2020 EndSARS,” as it (the PDP) may well be thinking, the PDP should fight for national peace and cohesion, if it ever understands such a notion.

“A PDP presidential candidate has warned that the party would perish by 2023 unless it wins the country’s top office.” And perish it would, since the party wants nothing worse for the nation than EndSARS.”
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has made it clear that it is primarily interested in destabilizing the nation in the hopes of regaining power in the future.
“Our party fears that the situation is getting to a boiling point and can trigger a nationwide agitation that might be worse than the October 2020 EndSARS if not addressed immediately,” the PDP said in a statement issued less than 24 hours after the Department of State Services (DSS) raised alarm about sinister plots by some elements to cause disorder in the country using the energy crisis as a smokescreen.
Which patriotic political party or group ever threatens chaos, social turmoil, and disorderliness in their nation, unless it is still stinging from having its nose ripped from the honeypot, like the PDP did in 2015?
However, we would like to remind the now dormant opposition party that Nigerians booted it out seven years ago, and those same Nigerians have not forgotten the hardships they faced at a time when the country was awash in cash: no power, no infrastructure, insurgents ran riot across the country, and our collective patrimony was looted blind. Those same Nigerians are not ready for another PDP misrule, either now or in the foreseeable future.
Rather than plotting and encouraging “agitation worse than October 2020 EndSARS,” as it may well be imagining, the PDP should fight for national peace and cohesiveness, if it ever comprehends such a notion.
Murder, mayhem, widespread devastation, and even cannibalism were all associated with EndSARS. PDP now desires for Nigeria’s demise.

Abiodun: We’ll resurrect Ogun BOI’s matching fund to help agro-allied industry grow.
Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, has said that his government would reactivate the OGSG-Bank of Industry Matching Fund in order to empower and mobilize micro, small, and medium-scale businesses in the state.
Abiodun revealed this at his office after being named the first Grand Patron of the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA).
According to the governor, his government would re-strategize with the Bank of Industry for the benefit of businesses in the state, especially those in the agro-allied sector.

The governor also said that his government will continue to build highways connecting the state to neighboring states, revealing that the continuing agro cargo airport and the Agbara-Atan-Lusada road would be finished by the year’s end.
“We will continue to build highways that link us to neighboring states, as we have done with the Ijebu-Ode-Epe road, the Abeokuta-Siun Interchange route, and the Agbara-Atan-Lusada road, all of which are expected to be finished by September this year.” “Let me promise you that our International Agro Cargo Airport will be operational by September 2022 or earlier,” Abiodun added.
