Breaking: Senator Abdullahi Adamu emerges APC Chairman

Senator Abdullahi Adamu was elected the All Progressives Congress (APCnew )’s National Chairman during the party’s convention in Abuja.

On Saturday, Adamu was chosen uncontested at the APC Convention at Abuja’s Eagles Square.

Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State declared Adamu as the new APC chairman after he was supported by party members.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s consensus candidate has been Adamu. As a result, his election as chairman of the convention came as no surprise.

Six candidates for the party’s chairperson had already stepped down, allowing Adamu to emerge as a consensus candidate.

Sens. Tanko Al-Makura, George Akume, Abdulaziz Yari, Sani Musa Muhammed, Etsu Muhammed, and Malam Saliu Mustapha are the members of the committee.
In a letter to the Chairman, APC Election Sub-Committee, written by one of the candidates, Sen. George Akume, and made accessible to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja, the aspirants said that they had opted to stand aside for Adamu out of respect for the president.

“May I kindly refer to President Muhammad Buhari’s request to our great party’s chairmanship hopefuls to agree to a consensus solution whereby our comrade Sen. Abdullahi Adamu is named our consensus candidate for the chairperson post,” the letter continues.

Also, Nasarawa State Governor Abudulahi Sule intimated that President Buhari had urged the party to come up with a consensus candidate in order to guarantee a calm and rancour-free convention.

President Buhari’s request for a consensus candidate prompted the decision, according to Sule, chairman of the APC National Convention Sub-Committee on Media and Publicity.

He said that if a consensus candidate emerges, the party’s leadership may return money paid by hopefuls for the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

One year later, soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) recovered the wreckage of the Nigerian Air Force’s Alpha Jet, which went missing while executing an operation in the notorious jungle.

The Nigerian Army revealed this on Saturday on its verified Facebook account, while providing an update on the forces’ recent success in overrunning insurgents’ Camp Zairo in the Sambisa Forest.

On March 31, 2021, the NAF Alpha-Jet went missing after losing touch with the radar during an interdiction operation.

“Troops of Operation Desert Sanity on clearing patrol in Sambisa Forest, Borno, have recovered the wreckage of a crashed Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that fell off the radar on March 31, 2021 with two crew members,” the Facebook post states.

Further exploitation as well as clearing activities to clean up the region were also continuing, according to the report.

“In continuation of current clearing operations, gallant soldiers of Operation Desert Sanity conducted additional exploration surrounding Ukuba/Camp Zairo in Sambisa Forest today and located BokoHaram/ISWAP IED production workshops,” it stated.

Our Team Delivered On The Assignment Given Us, Buni Tells Buhari

Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, has said that his team achieved the targeted goal.

On the occasion of the national convention, when a new set of national officials was chosen, he made the statement in his valedictory address in Eagles Square on Saturday night.

The APC CECPC was established in June 2020 after the National Working Committee, headed by former Edo State Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was disbanded by the party’s National Executive Committee.

The 12-man committee was tasked with reconciling disgruntled chieftains and organizing a national convention.
The national convention, which was scheduled to take place over the weekend, was postponed twice.

Governor Buni, who congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and his Progressive Governors Forum colleagues, said his team was able to bring governors from the major opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party, into the governing party and secure enduring peace in split state chapters.

Apart from the troubleshooting endeavor, Governor Buni stated his staff registered party supporters, bringing the total number of members to 41 million.

“Upon taking office, the committee launched a real and all-inclusive reconciliation process to provide everyone a genuine feeling of belonging, confidence, and trust in the party’s common ownership,” he stated. To begin, we went to several key stakeholders to engage them in addressing the party’s issues and other lingering problems. While some of these trips were made public, others were done behind closed doors and without the attention of the media. Similarly, we paid a visit to other unhappy chieftains, who openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the committee. We spoke openly with one another, putting party objectives ahead of personal interests.

“I am pleased to report that such candid dialogues instilled fresh hope in the hearts of the aggrieved, such that those who had previously left the party returned, while others who were about leaving never did.”

“However, once we got started on the job, we learned that the challenges on the ground significantly surpassed our estimates of how long it would take to fix the party’s massive problems.” As a result, the original six-month deadline was woefully insufficient, impossible, and impractical, necessitating the need for a further extension. Fortunately, with each expansion, we were able to bring in new ideals and great improvements to the party.

“After reconciling significant stakeholders, members, and organizations, the committee began the membership registration and revalidation process, which is one of the CECPC’s tasks, to determine the party’s numerical strength for appropriate planning and mobilization.]”

“Through the bottom-up strategy, we were able to offer our new members with the option to register as legal members of APC with equal rights, benefits, and opportunities, as well as return control of the party to the members.”

“I am pleased to report that the membership registration and revalidation exercise resulted in over 41 million members registering using the information on their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and passport-size pictures. This exceptional rise in membership from 11 million registered members to over 41 million registered members gives the party an additional edge in landslide victory in Nigerian elections.

“Mr President, distinguished members, ladies and gentlemen, the APC has created history with an unprecedented record of high-powered defections into the party during the Caretaker Committee. Three serving governors, His Excellency Engr. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Dr. Ben Ayade of Cross River State, and Alhaji Bello Mutawalle of Zamfara State, defected from the PDP to the APC, along with millions of their followers.

‘I am happy to add that the party’s fortunes were further enriched by the defection of former Speakers of the House of Representatives, former PDP national chairman, member PDP Board of Trustees, several Distinguished Senators and Honourable members of the House of Representatives and state assemblies, and several other heavyweights cutting across all the country’s geo-political zones.”

Governor Buni said the governors of Ebonyi and Cross Rivers States, Ben Ayade, and his Zamfara counterpart, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, should not be bothered by the court’s decision to sack the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, in an apparent reference to the court’s decision to sack the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi.

“Let me reassure those of you whose defections are being questioned in court that you have nothing to worry about since your defections were legal. By the grace of God, you will prevail in the upper courts at the conclusion of these proceedings. Your sensible choice to join the APC, along with the millions of your fans, will not go unnoticed.”

Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Governor of Kebbi State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, praised the party’s stakeholders for holding the national convention ahead of the presidential convention.

APC: Anxiety As Rumours Of Governors Possibly Dumping Consensus Pact

0

There was considerable concern at Eagle Square, the location of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national conference, when delegates heard rumors that certain governors could attempt to undo the consensual accord struck on the national chairmanship.

Certain speculated Saturday evening that the long delay in the event’s start was due to some governors’ threats to abandon the agreement on Senator Abdulahi Adamu as the consensus candidate for the job and instead instruct their state delegates to vote for someone else.

There was also talk that some were considering staging a walkout similar to the Peoples Democratic Party’s experience in 2014. (PDP).

Some speculated that President Buhari was failed to depart the presidential house more than three hours after he was due to arrive at the site because he was attempting to silence any opposition before travelling to the event.
Delegates, party supporters, and observers were still waiting for the President’s arrival at the time of this report, while being entertained by artists from all around the nation.

On Saturday, Nigerian security officers deployed to Eagle Square in Abuja for the current All Progressives Congress, APC, National Convention rebuffed efforts by hoodlums to disrupt the electoral process.

The hoodlums who were observed bringing sticks to the conference site were stopped by police officers and other security services.

Some of the hoodlums who pushed their way into the location where the conference is presently taking place were detained and transferred to Force Headquarters, according to sources.

As police used tear gas to disperse the hoodlums, several journalists were forced to flee the area.

DSP Josephine Adeh, the Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence in a discussion with DAILY POST, and said normality was quickly restored.

The PPRO responded to the officers’ deployment of teargas by saying that the teargas was required to calm the scene and prevent any assaults on the delegates who had traveled from all across the nation.

“Dispersal maneuvers are important at such an event with a certain significant level of crowd,” she said, “or else even the delegates would not have a method and a place to fulfill their duties.”

“All I can tell is that there is intense monitoring in place, and the police have been gathering any evidence that may be used to hurt individuals.”

FAAN speaks on attack by bandits at Kaduna airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released further information on the armed assault on the Kaduna airport on Saturday, confirming that one of its employees was slain by the attackers.

Security officers thwarted an assault by a “group of bandits” on the Runway 05 axis, according to the agency.

Normalcy has already been restored at the airport, according to the report, and security officers have recovered two motorcycles that the criminals had abandoned.

Amina Salami, the airport manager, had previously confirmed the incident, stating that gunmen broke over the perimeter fence from a neighboring woodland about 1 p.m.

She said that the terrorists shot a security guard patrolling the runway before troops, lured by the sound of gunfire, reacted.

The attack caused a flight to Lagos to be delayed.

The event was also verified by the Kaduna State administration. Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i praised the security forces for their quick reaction to the assault and for repelling the assailants, and expressed condolences to the victim’s family, according to Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

A reinforcement team from the Nigerian Defence Academy was on the ground, according to FAAN, to guarantee the safety and security of airport staff and users.

“The Authority takes this occasion to express its condolences to the victim’s family and friends,” Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, Ag.General Manager, Corporate Affairs, said in a statement.

For years, deadly bands known to the authorities as bandits have operated in North-western Nigeria, abducting and murdering thousands of people. The robbers’ assault on Kaduna airport looks to be one of their most audacious.

Employment: Buhari Tasks Universities To Develop New Curriculum

0

On Saturday in Abuja, Buhari spoke at the 11th Convocation of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

He emphasized the need of reiterating that the nation’s educational program promotes entrepreneurial education.

“It is heartening to see that the National Institutions Commission is nearing completion of a thorough evaluation of all programs in our universities’ curriculum, with a focus on entrepreneurship.” This, as we all know, is a driver of increased production and, among other things, a decrease in the figure,” he remarked.

Buhari, who was represented by Acting Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education David Gende, said that the federal government has established an enabling environment to assist the effort via different initiatives.

“In this connection, the national strategy on education has allowed for lifetime learning that transcends all boundaries via open and distant learning,” he said, indicating that his government is determined to providing education accessible to everyone through open distance learning.

“We hope that our graduates will take advantage of these possibilities to participate in all of the programs that have been established.” “I applaud NOUN’s administration and governing council for ensuring that government money allocated to the institution are used wisely in creating world-class facilities, as shown on campus,” he stated.

NOUN’s Pro-Chancellor, Emeritus Prof. Peter Okebukola, praised the president for signing the National Open University Amendment Act in his remarks.

“Mr. President’s solitary move did not only raise the legal status and quality of NOUN’s distribution system,” he stated. Approximately 1,500 of NOUN’s legal graduates are enrolled in the Nigeria Law School, and reports reaching us suggest that our students are doing quite well.”

This, without a doubt, dispels the public’s misconception that open and distance education is inferior to traditional face-to-face university education.

“Unfortunately, the age-old prejudice against qualified NOUN graduates participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) continues, but I am delighted to tell Mr. President that negotiations to rectify the situation are ongoing,” he stated.

Prof Olufumi Peters, Vice Chancellor, said that a total of 22,250 graduating students completed the stipulated exams and were therefore deemed worthy in character and learning to obtain their degrees in diverse subjects.

“A total of 16,679 students are graduating at the undergraduate level,” he said, “with 69 students in the First-Class Division, 4,327 students in the 2nd Class Upper Division, 9,499 students in the Second Class Lower Division, 2,700 students in the Third Class Division, and 84 students with pass degrees.”

He claims that the world economy is in a state of collapse, and that this gives new graduates fear rather than optimism, pleasure, or confidence.

“I am of the firm and belief that those who have the advantage of the training that you have acquired will make it in the new normal,” the VC said, encouraging the graduates not to despair. Although the conditions may be difficult, I urge you to stay focused since you have been given the tools and information you need to succeed.”

Azman Airlines Issues a Statement Regarding Today’s Events At The Kaduna State Airport

Amaechi urges fans, “Give me money, not a presidential seat.”

While dismissing the thought of running for president in 2023, Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, requested supporters to give him money rather than the presidency.

Remember that a group called Amaechi Vanguard in the United States of America/Canada pushed the All Progressives Congress to nominate Amaechi as the party’s consensus presidential candidate for 2023, according to The PUNCH.

In the same vein, Governor Nasir El-Rufai said that he would only run for president in 2023 if President Muhammadu Buhari persisted, either as a presidential candidate or as a running partner for Amaechi.

In response to these events, Amaechi said that he merely needed money to exist, not the presidency.

“The folks who want me to run for president in 2023 should simply give me the money,” he remarked on Arise TV. To stay alive, I need money.”
According to sources, Amaechi’s presidential campaign posters were spotted multiple times in Eagle Square in Abuja, where the All Progressive Congress’s National Convention was held.

Other posters were seen, including those of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State, and David Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State.
