Wike Declares To Contest For President, Vows To Tackle Insecurity
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has announced his desire to run for President of Nigeria on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, promising to confront insecurity straight on.
On Sunday, he announced his intention in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, while addressing with national delegates of the party at Government House in Makurdi.
Wike, who also urged the party’s delegates not to sell their votes but to consider him for the job, subsequently spoke to reporters, saying that security will be his first concern.
He also urged residents of Benue State to support him in the upcoming party primaries.
“Today, you can’t speak about security anyplace in this nation,” he says, “and without security, you can’t talk about governance.” “When you take the oath of office, you must protect lives and property, and if you can’t protect lives and property, you can’t talk about governance.”

“Most of these folks caused us (the PDP) lose the election in 2015,” Wike said.

“As governor, I’ve done well; I can walk anyplace with my shoulders up, and how many of them have challenged this (APC) government?”

Convention: APC will lead Nigeria to manifest destiny, says Osinbajo
The All Progressives Congress, according to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), will continue to build a Nigeria that all citizens can be proud of.

President Muhammadu Buhari was present at the swearing-in of the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) newly-formed national working committee (NWC) on Sunday (APC).
The event took place in Abuja’s Eagle Square.
The APC recently held its national convention, during which officers for the party’s NWC were elected.

On Saturday night, Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, claimed that his team had met its goals.
Buni, who is also the Governor of Yobe State, revealed this in his valedictory address at the party’s national convention at Abuja’s Eagles Square.
Following the breakup of the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) on June 25, 2020, the governor was named interim chairman of the governing party.
He expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and his Progressive Governors’ Forum partners for their assistance.
Buni said that his team pulled sitting governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC and restored peace in state chapters where disagreements had been recorded.
“Upon taking office, the committee launched a real and all-inclusive reconciliation process to provide everyone a genuine feeling of belonging, confidence, and trust in the party’s common ownership,” he stated.
“First and foremost, we visited certain key stakeholders to engage them in addressing the party’s issues and other lingering concerns. While some of these trips were made public, others were done behind closed doors and without the attention of the media. Similarly, we paid a visit to other unhappy chieftains, who openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the committee. “I am pleased to report that such candid dialogues instilled fresh hope in the hearts of the aggrieved, such that those who had previously left the party returned, while others who were about leaving never did.”
“However, once we got started on the job, we learned that the challenges on the ground significantly surpassed our estimates of how long it would take to fix the party’s massive problems.” As a result, the original six-month deadline was woefully insufficient, impossible, and impractical, necessitating the need for a further extension. This exceptional rise in membership from 11 million registered members to over 41 million registered members gives the party an additional edge in landslide victory in Nigerian elections.

Three serving governors, His Excellency, Engr. Breaking: Senator Abdullahi Adamu emerges APC Chairman
Senator Abdullahi Adamu was elected the All Progressives Congress (APCnew )’s National Chairman during the party’s convention in Abuja.
On Saturday, Adamu was chosen uncontested at the APC Convention at Abuja’s Eagles Square.
Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State declared Adamu as the new APC chairman after he was supported by party members.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s consensus candidate has been Adamu. As a result, his election as chairman of the convention came as no surprise.
Six candidates for the party’s chairperson had already stepped down, allowing Adamu to emerge as a consensus candidate.
Sens. Tanko Al-Makura, George Akume, Abdulaziz Yari, Sani Musa Muhammed, Etsu Muhammed, and Malam Saliu Mustapha are the members of the committee.
In a letter to the Chairman, APC Election Sub-Committee, written by one of the candidates, Sen. George Akume, and made accessible to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja, the aspirants said that they had opted to stand aside for Adamu out of respect for the president.

Nigerian troops discover wreckage of missing Alpha Jet in Sambisa Forest
One year later, soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) recovered the wreckage of the Nigerian Air Force’s Alpha Jet, which went missing while executing an operation in the notorious jungle.
The Nigerian Army revealed this on Saturday on its verified Facebook account, while providing an update on the forces’ recent success in overrunning insurgents’ Camp Zairo in the Sambisa Forest.
On March 31, 2021, the NAF Alpha-Jet went missing after losing touch with the radar during an interdiction operation.
“Troops of Operation Desert Sanity on clearing patrol in Sambisa Forest, Borno, have recovered the wreckage of a crashed Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that fell off the radar on March 31, 2021 with two crew members,” the Facebook post states.
Further exploitation as well as clearing activities to clean up the region were also continuing, according to the report.
“In continuation of current clearing operations, gallant soldiers of Operation Desert Sanity conducted additional exploration surrounding Ukuba/Camp Zairo in Sambisa Forest today and located BokoHaram/ISWAP IED production workshops,” it stated.
