Campaign Against Bayo Ojulari Is a Calculated Attempt to Destabilize Reforms – Aduwo

0

The foul propaganda, targeted harassment, and cowardly whispering campaign of slander being planned against Mr. Ojulari, the recently appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), have been strongly denounced by the Center for Convention on Democratic Integrity (CCDI).

“It has become clear that some disgruntled elements, many of whom have long fed fat on the systemic rot within the oil and gas sector, are deeply unsettled by Mr. Ojulari’s bold commitment to sanitize the NNPCL,” the non-governmental organization (NGO) said in a statement released Monday by its President in Lagos, Comrade Olufemi Aduwo.

Desperate to thwart the ongoing changes, these disloyal forces have turned to deceptive techniques, disinformation, and nasty insinuations in an effort to undermine public trust and foment division within the Presidency.

“Let it be stated without equivocation: Mr. Ojulari did not ascend to this office through intrigue or favoritism, but through proven competence, moral clarity, and an unwavering record of service,” the statement reads in sections.

His initial actions have already suggested a return to operational transparency, fiscal restraint, and the recovery of national resources from long-standing cartels and oil thieves.

We are aware that these adversaries of the country are now trying to trap security forces, deceive political players, and contaminate public areas after their illegal pipelines and privileges collapsed. The future of Nigeria’s independent energy is being attacked, not just a man.

“We urge all patriotic institutions, including His Excellency President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Advisor, to remain steadfast. The success of Mr. Ojulari is the prosperity of Nigeria. To betray him is to undermine the national survival and reform mandate. It is unacceptable for saboteurs posing as nationalists to hold Nigeria hostage.

Don’t Fool the North with One-Term Claims – Reuben Abati Warns Politicians

Reuben Abati, a Nigerian journalist, has stated that the idea of a one-term government advocated by Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi and other opposition coalition members will be useless.
According to reports, Abati said this on Monday, August 4, 2025, during an appearance on the Arise TV morning show.

According to the media personality, any politician who promises a single term is demonstrating desperation since it will not work.

The former presidential adviser believes Northerners who are already dissatisfied with a Yoruba president will reject the idea of an Igbo president because Nigeria’s civil conflict has not ended.

He stated, “Any politician who comes to you and says he would only serve one term is desperate. It won’t work. All of this spiel about serving food, carrying dishes, and acting boyish at parties that could have been better arranged by event organizers is a symptom of desperation. It does not work. It’ll never work.

“The second difficulty is that you stated that the North will support this one-term strategy. No! The North will not because the civil conflict in this country has never been resolved. I don’t believe that Northerners who are already dissatisfied with a Yoruba president will suddenly embrace the notion of an Igbo president. There are contradictions in our country that have not been resolved.”

Yilwatda Has Longstanding Leadership Track Record – Oshiomhole Asserts

Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of the state, is the senator from the Edo North Senatorial District who represents it in the National Assembly. He discusses a number of topics in this interview, including the rise of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman and the professor’s remarkable leadership abilities. Joy Anibogu provides

What do you think of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda becoming the new national chairman of the APC, considering that you were formerly the party’s national chairman?

It’s really exciting, in my opinion. As a former labor leader, I must first remind you that forced labor is prohibited by Nigerian labor law. Consequently, my close buddy, a former coworker, a former Kano State governor, and later the chairman of the APC, was forced to step down for personal reasons. A vacuum is also impossible. Additionally, I make an effort to be considerate of the sentiments of our party members and the Nigerian people due to the framework of our political system. In some cultures, the deputy chairman takes over in the event that the chairman departs. In fact, an ideal political system ought to be like that. But, since that position is restricted to a specific region of the nation, you must make sure that, in the event that one chairman departs, the variety of the political leadership is maintained. You try to find a person from that side to replace it. And doing so entails going above and beyond the typical requirement for a deputy to act while the substantive official is away. Abdullahi Ganduje, a former Kano State governor, resigned, creating the vacancy. Additionally, it was critical that the position be filled. People would say that Borno State has both the national chairman of the party and the vice president if it wasn’t filled right away. And before you realize it, it’s turning into a significant problem. Therefore, I believe that the party took the initiative to schedule an urgent meeting of the National Executive Council. Then he said, “Look, we need to fill this vacancy and do a lot of behind-the-scenes consultation to say, okay, we must see the vacancy, who, where does it come from, and how do we ensure the balance, taking into account all the geopolitical sensitivities in Nigeria.” In reality, however, people campaign before the ballots are cast in the best of democracies. The ones you see on TV and the ones you never see on TV are examples of those campaigns. That’s what you saw as the result. The fact that everyone is clapping and no one is yelling indicates that a thorough task needs to be completed. Then, the young man is ready for the position.

Is Yilwatda likely to be a lapdog for President Tinubu, as some have indicated, or do you think he has the kind of mettle and backbone to handle the turbulence of APC politics and the larger Nigerian political scene?

That is inaccurate. I’m not sure if anything you say about me is flattering. However, the issue is that the APC was unintentionally starting to create the impression that it was customary to serve as a governor, even if you were not in office, before becoming the party’s chairman. When we had the first convention, John Odigie Oyegun had only been a governor for two years. After Oyegun’s four-year tenure, I had also been a governor, and I entered through a convention before becoming the chairman. It just so happened that the first founding chairman, who laid a very solid foundation in very complex, complicated circumstances, was Bisi Akande, a former governor of Osun State. The celebration was then superficial. I was removed in the same way, and then another chairman—who was also a sitting governor—was appointed as a caretaker from Yobe State. Another former governor, Abdullahi, was then forced to resign when President Tinubu took office, and Ganduje took over—another former governor. In my opinion, it was crucial to reassure party members that there is no post that requires you to be a former governor, even for the sake of appearances. This gentleman’s selection, in my opinion, has effectively conveyed that point.

Regarding your layback, it is too soon to tell because you cannot get to know someone until you give them the car key. Looks can be deceiving. I mean, if you look at me, I appear really tiny. For me, how could you use the words that you do? Nobody can be bullied by me. I am quite little. I have a special experience. To cut right to the chase, though, I think the man is creating his own special experience. First and foremost, it is crucial that party members are informed that no position is designated for individuals who have held particular positions in the past. It is crucial that each party member believes they have the potential to lead the party as its national chairman or general CEO. I believe it was about two or three weeks from the time the previous chairman retired voluntarily and the time we had to have a new chairman in his place because there could not be a void. He might not have realized this was a possibility until a week ago. Perhaps for the first time, as the party’s top man, the president reminded us that the party is the one that creates the government by saying, “The national chairman of the party,” which I believe was intentional.

And now he’s seated next the nation’s most important citizen. That is undoubtedly a significant elevation. And you need time to get used to that. He is then invited to give a speech a few minutes later. He obviously did not prepare for this election, in contrast to me, who had to campaign, convince people to run against me, and so on. I have therefore, in a way, confronted the prospect that I could win the election. He lacked that. When I saw two people here, I said, “I hope it’s just a set-up,” just as you would be contacting me right now. I’m not sure what the problems are if you want me to argue with these gentlemen. As a result, I believe that the first is true—a national is a level-headed individual. Additionally, the gathering does require a patient person. Not only does he have the patience to listen, but people should feel comfortable to speak with him like they would with any other party leader because he is not a former governor. Not feeling, ah, that was a former governor. It has advantages of its own, I believe. If you ask me, I believe what I observed was his humility. It’s not a lazy one. Remember that he’s a professor. Since he had to earn a PhD in order to become a professor, he has not only lectured but also tutored and mentored younger people. He is so supported by his lineage. Therefore, he is not a new leader. In academics, he has taken the lead.

Not Wealth, Not Power: Femi Otedola Opens Up on the Moment He Truly Felt Happy”

0

Billionaire’ F’emi Otedola in a telephone interview, was asked by the radio presenter, “Sir what can you remember made you a happy man in life?”

Femi said: “I have gone through four stages of happiness in life and finally I understood the meaning of true happiness.

The first stage was to accumulate wealth and means. But at this stage I did not get the happiness I wanted.

Then came the second stage of collecting valuables and items. But I realized that the effect of this thing is also temporary and the lustre of valuable things does not last long.

Then came the third stage of getting big projects. That was when I was holding 95% of diesel supply in Nigeria and Africa. I was also the largest vessel owner in Africa and Asia. But even here I did not get the happiness I had imagined.

The fourth stage was the time a friend of mine asked me to buy wheelchair for some disabled children. Just about 200 kids.

At the friend’s request, I immediately bought the wheelchairs. But the friend insisted that I go with him and hand over the wheelchairs to the children. I got ready and went with him.

There I gave these wheel chairs to these children with my own hands. I saw the strange glow of happiness on the faces of these children. I saw them all sitting on the wheelchairs, moving around and having fun.

It was as if they had arrived at a picnic spot where they are sharing a jackpot wining.

I felt real joy inside me. When I decided to leave one of the kids grabbed my legs. I tried to free my legs gently but the child stared at my face and held my legs tightly.

I bent down and asked the child: Do you need something else? The answer this child gave me not only made me happy but also changed my attitude to life completely.

This child said: “I want to remember your face so that when I meet you in heaven, I will be able to recognize you and thank you once again.

The Kogi State Working Committee, SWC, of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has suspended Honourable Leke Abejide, a member representing Yagba Federal Constituency and previous Gubernatorial candidate of the Party, as well as his Deputy, Dr. Idris Omede, and three other party members in Kogi.

In a news conference conducted on Monday in Lokoja, the party’s Secretary, John Adaji Udale, stated that the SWC members made the decision after extensive deliberation over the repeated and purposeful acts and activities of some members and party officials who disagree with the party.

The Secretary stated that after reviewing their activities, particularly in recent times, particularly as displayed in Harris Hotel Abuja, where some members flagrantly usurped the power of the party’s leadership and engaged in anti-party activities, SWC was compelled to take necessary action against the members listed below in order to uphold the integrity of the party’s Constitution.

Dr. Idris Omede, a previous Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon Johnson Tayo, Lukman Usman Adedayo, and Olabode Kayode have all been suspended alongside Hon. Leke Abejide.

Ibadan North Bye-Election: Odidiomo Pledges Full Support for PDP’s Oyekunle

0

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, also known as Odidiomo, the member of the House of Representatives for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo state, has declared his full support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, also known as “Don,” ahead of the August 16 bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat.

Olajide, the head of the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, said in a statement released by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Tolu Mustapha, that the PDP candidate is a dynamic and seasoned politician who can provide high-quality representation for the residents of Oyo State’s Ibadan North federal constituency.

At a strategic stakeholders’ meeting, Olajide urged party members and constituency residents to support Oyekunle, emphasizing that continuity of purposeful representation must not be interrupted, while presenting campaign materials donated by the two-term PDP lawmaker in support of the by-election.

Hon. Don has been tried and trusted, he remarked. He has served the people of Oyo State as a former member of the House of Assembly and most recently, as Deputy Chief of Staff to the executive Governor of Oyo state. Most significantly, he supports Governor Seyi Makinde’s aim for rapid growth and is knowledgeable about the terrain and governance. All of us must help him.

A win for Oyekunle would solidify the PDP’s hold on Ibadanland and bolster the state’s representation in the National Assembly, Olajide said in the statement, emphasizing the need of cooperation between the two adjacent federal constituencies.

He said the late occupant of the seat, Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), served diligently before his sudden demise and deserves to be succeeded by a candidate who will sustain quality representation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled the by-election for August 16, 2025, after Hon. Akinremi passed away in July 2024. The seat has remained vacant since then and political parties are intensifying efforts to win the strategic constituency.

Peter Obi: ‘ADC Is Putting Us Our Toes But The Numbers Are Not Looking Good For Them’ – Keyamo

0

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC), however Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, acknowledged that the ADC will not win much of the 2027 election.
According to reports, Keyamo stated this in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program, when he also criticized Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, for not being able to reach the north and win votes like Bola Tinubu, the current president.
Keyamo stated that Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), have established political structures in the north, unlike the ADC.

While listing the three factors he felt worked in favour of Peter Obi in 2023, Keyamo noted that the attempt to make the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate a deputy to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, would collapse the factors.

He said, “They are going nowhere in terms of demography.

“I like what is happening; they are putting us on our toes; it is going to make us work harder, but the numbers are not looking good for them.

“This so-called ADC, in 2027, what they are working on is to bring Peter Obi and Atiku (Abubakar) together to join those numbers and beat our over eight million votes.

“Let me tell you why it is wrong. If you make Peter Obi the deputy to Atiku, three demographic factors delivered Peter Obi in 2023, but the three will collapse.

“The other candidates were Muslims, and so there was only one Christian candidate, and the Christians went to one candidate.

“The South-East felt cheated, so the South-East went to one point because of the Igbo man.

“And the third demography: the Obidients, young Nigerians who felt they were angry, they wanted a younger person and all of that because the other candidates were older than him (Obi).

“If you put Peter Obi this time as president, he cannot penetrate the north. We have our structures in the north. We have governors and our structures in the north.”

Stop the Talk, Fund the Programmes – Falana Tells Tinubu to Back Words with N5 Trillion for Social Investment

0

Femi Falana, a well-known human rights attorney, has urged President Bola Tinubu to increase funding for the National Social Investment Programs in order to reduce poverty in Nigeria.
Falana said in a statement on Sunday that the federal government’s funding for projects that might not directly affect residents’ well-being is far greater than the amount the government spends on meeting the social requirements of the populace.
According to reports, the lawyer’s remarks came as President Tinubu recently advised governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to make sure they put in a lot of effort to bring about development at the local level.
He warned that Nigerians were dissatisfied with the pace of governance and the tangible benefits of democracy.

Speaking at the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC at the State House Centre, he called on the governors to “wet the grass more” for greater impact in communities across Nigeria.

However, Falana submitted that President Tinubu needs to do more than just issue instructions to the Governors. He called on the federal government to instead demonstrate leadership by fully funding existing welfare programmes.

“Instead of begging state governments to ‘wet ground more’, President Bola Tinubu is urged to ensure that the National Social Investment Programme Agency Act is adopted and enacted into law by the 36 state governments,” he stated.

The senior lawyer stressed that rather than allocating billions for state house renovations, governments at all levels should focus on implementing impactful social policies to alleviate suffering among the masses.

He criticized the allocation of ₦32.7 billion to the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) in 2025, which is expected to cater for more than 100 million people, while ₦39 billion was reportedly spent on the renovation of the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

“A government that recently claimed to have spent the sum of ₦39 billion for the renovation of the International Conference Centre at Abuja at the Federal Capital Territory cannot justify the allocation of ₦32.7 billion to fund the National Social Investment Programmes for 2025 to support the 133 million people that are said to be multi-dimensionally poor in the country,” he argued.

He questioned the credibility of a system where lawmakers receive massive monthly emoluments—₦21 million for senators and ₦15 million for members of the House of Representatives—while key social programmes are grossly underfunded.

Citing the recent approval of ₦3.5 trillion by the Federal Executive Council for roads, airports, and other infrastructure, Falana submitted that not less than ₦5 trillion must be allocated to the National Social Investment Programme if the government is serious about making the benefits trickle down to the grassroots.

“Therefore, the Federal Executive Council should, as a matter of urgency, approve not less than ₦5 trillion to fund the National Social Investment Programme,” he said.

He added that the management of such a fund should not be left solely in the hands of government officials, but should involve elected representatives of trade unions and credible civil society organisations to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

REBUTTAL: BAYO OJULARI CLARIFIES RESIGNATION, DISMISSES “ABDUCTION” CLAIMS AS FICTION

0

Bayo Ojulari.
Contrary to the sensational and wildly inaccurate report by Peoples Gazette alleging that the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Bayo Ojulari, was “abducted and forced to resign” by security officials, we categorically state that the story is nothing more than a poorly scripted work of fiction, better suited for a Nollywood thriller than credible journalism.

Unlike the Gazette’s dramatic tale of midnight kidnappings and shadowy coups, Mr. Ojulari voluntarily tendered his resignation after due consultations with higher authorities in Abuja. His decision followed the recent official trip to Kigali for an oil and gas conference—a legitimate business engagement aimed at advancing Nigeria’s energy sector interests.

“I was neither arrested nor strong-armed into resigning,” Mr. Ojulari clarified with amusement. “In fact, the only ‘pressure’ I faced was from my own conscience and commitment to accountability after the unnecessary controversy stirred around the Kigali trip. My resignation was a personal decision, submitted through the appropriate channels—not at gunpoint in some spy movie scenario.”

The report’s claim that EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede and DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi orchestrated an illegal “coup” to remove him is not only baseless but laughable. “If I were to be ‘forced out,’ it certainly wouldn’t be in silence—I’d have at least negotiated for a better headline!” Ojulari joked.

As for the bizarre insinuations about British-Nigerian businesswoman Olatimbo Ayinde, Mr. Ojulari maintains that he has no personal or professional dealings with her and finds it curious that her name keeps appearing in unrelated matters. “I’ve spent decades in the oil and gas industry, building a reputation on transparency and expertise—not gossip columns,” he stated firmly.

While Peoples Gazette may thrive on conspiracy theories and clickbait, the truth remains simple: Mr. Ojulari resigned honorably, the NNPCL continues its operations uninterrupted, and Nigeria’s energy sector remains focused on progress—not palace intrigue.

We urge the public to disregard this fictional account and instead rely on verified statements from official channels. After all, in the words of Mr. Ojulari: “If I were going to stage a dramatic exit, I’d at least make sure it came with a soundtrack and better lighting.”
