Enugu’s governor meets with Tinubu to ask for Nnamdi Kanu’s release

0

The self-declared leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is being negotiated for release by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and President Bola Tinubu.

The release of Kanu would be consistent with the President’s plan for national healing, as he stated on May 29, according to Mbah, who met privately with Tinubu on Thursday at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

According to reports, Kanu was apprehended on Kenyan soil and extradited to Nigeria, where he was charged with seven counts of terrorism, exactly two years ago.

Later, in November 2021, the IPOB leader was re-arrested on a new 15-count charge.

Mbah claimed to have discussed the potential release of the secessionist activist at the villa after a number of recent favourable court rulings regarding his prosecution.

The new governor claimed that Tinubu would release Kanu as a gesture of friendship to the region of the South-East where the IPOB leader is from.

He hoped the request would receive favourable consideration from the president.

Naturally, we also spoke about Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

“You are aware that Nnamdi Kanu’s release has been demanded by the South East as a whole. And we basically agreed with that and made a request to the President, who in his inaugural address promised the people he would promote national healing and act with compassion.

We’ve basically told him that this will serve as a sign that his administration is reaching out to the community, Mbah said.

He also revealed that he asked the federal government for help in exploring the rich mineral resources in Enugu State for the benefit of the local populace.

Mbah claimed that Enugu has a wealth of untapped resources that can be discovered with the assistance of the government.

“We’ve taken a bold approach to what the new group might be able to accomplish in the next four years in terms of expanding our economy from the current levels to $30bn. The federal government has been named as our primary partner. Collaboration and partnership are two of our core governance philosophies.

We believe that by working with the federal government, we can turn a number of dormant assets we have in Enugu into productive ones.

We have enormous mineral resources in a new group, which many people are unaware of. And these resources are just sitting there under our ground doing nothing. We therefore think that we can turn these assets into productive assets through the partnership we’re attempting to establish with the federal government, Mbah said.

He said the following when discussing enhancing security and private sector investments in the Southeast: “You know that the growth level we have proposed is one that is going to be driven by the private sector and the private sector wants the ease of doing business and one of the core indicators of the ease of doing business is security and infrastructure.

“So, we also discussed that with Mr. President. Our announcement is very forceful. In Enugu, Monday home rest has been outlawed.

“And obviously, what that means is that we will, of course, need to, you know, heighten our security, tackle the challenges that would flow from that, and, you know, basically that’s what I’ve come to do,” the speaker continued.

Upon being asked about the reason for his visit, the Governor responded, “I came and frankly I brought to the President, the warm greetings and best wishes from the government and the people of Enugu state.”

In Calabar, EFCC arrests twins, 26 others for internet fraud

0

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested identical twins Takwan Potential and Takwan Peter, as well as 26 others, in Calabar, Cross River State, for alleged internet fraud.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the suspects were apprehended after credible intelligence linked them to suspected internet-related fraud.

Takwan Emmanuel, Kelvin Onedu, Evans Edwin, David Osuji, Osang Tony, Confidence Oblech, Uche Chinedu, Gabriel Kanong, Ojong Victor, Ephraim Ikechukwu, and Shedrack Mfon were among the other 26 suspects.

Godswill Omini, Walter Opha, Godswill Iti, Moses Sha, Prince Uba, Anyi Bassey, David Disi, Peter Silas, Christian Uche, Chidindu Oforji, Kelvin Anyanwu, Anthony Ojone, Samuel Disi, Gideon Joseph, and Ezekiel Francis are also among the others.

According to preliminary investigations, some of the suspects specialized in love scams, while others engaged in fraudulent impersonation and obtaining by false pretence.

Among the items recovered were several mobile phones, laptop computers, five cars, and a wifi device.

The anti-corruption agency also stated that suspects will be charged in court soon.

Nigerian reverend criticises Mercy Chinwo for demanding 10m to perform in church

Mercy Chinwo, a well-known gospel singer, was criticized by Rev. Fr. Chinenye Oluoma, a Catholic priest serving the Abuja Archdiocese, for charging N10 million to perform in churches. Oluoma made the statement in response to Chinwo’s pricing.

When speaking during a recent service, Father Oluoma criticized gospel musicians who demand enormous payments to perform in a place of worship. While doing so, he lamented the fact that religious worship has become increasingly expensive.

In a video that quickly went viral, a cleric stated once again, using Mercy Chinwo as an illustration, that the singer requests N10 million as a performance fee from churches.

He stated, “We have made it more expensive for people to worship their gods.” How much will I offer Mercy Chinwo in compensation if I have to bring her here so that she can sing? It is estimated that the fee for having a gospel performer of Mercy Chinwo’s status perform at an event or in a church has reached N10 million at this point.

“This is the tragedy that we have turned Christianity into, that an artiste will come to a church and lead praise and worship for N10m or N5m for ten minutes,” said one of the speakers at the conference. Therefore, if that particular performer doesn’t sing “Jesus, You Love Me Too Much,” it means that God didn’t love you as much as you think He did, right?

“Some individuals questioned whether or not they should be compensated. Why did you choose not to pay them? If you absolutely have to bring them, then you should compensate them for their time because the purpose of their presence is to provide you with entertainment. Worship has been replaced by a form of entertainment.

NYSC, NPC, and UNICEF join forces to improve Nigerian birth registration

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the National Population Commission (NPC), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) with the intention of revolutionizing and improving birth registration in Nigeria. This MoU was signed by all three organizations.

According to the Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed on Wednesday is aimed at solidifying the commitment of the three organizations to collaborate and support the digitalized birth registration process in 22 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This was stated by the Director General of NYSC.

Gen. Ahmed, who spoke about the collaboration in Abuja, explained that the “partnership aims to provide a robust framework within which the parties can implement a comprehensive and efficient digitalized birth registration process across Nigeria.”

“It is an honour for the National Youth Service Corps to partner with the NPC and UNICEF on such an important endeavour,” said Ahmed.

“Our deployment of 850 corps members as coordinators and supervisors will ensure effective monitoring and supervision of the birth registration process. “Together, we will strive to achieve comprehensive data collection and availability, supporting increased birth registration coverage in our respective LGAs.”

In addition, the Chairman of NPC, Nasir Isa Kwarra, commented on the partnership by stating that the NPC, as a key partner in the project, will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of this partnership.

“We are dedicated to providing support for the recruitment of ad hoc birth registrars at the ward level and to ensuring that registration materials are made available to coordinators and supervisors.

Together, we will generate and analyze data that has been digitalized for birth registration at the LGAs and wards, which will ultimately lead to an increase in birth registration coverage.

UNICEF, for its part, has stated that it will contribute its knowledge in order to support the implementation of digitalized birth registration services in the focus states.

According to Cristian Munduate, who serves as UNICEF’s representative in Nigeria, the organization’s primary focus will be on “providing technical assistance and evidence-based interventions.”

Adebutu reacts to vote buying, money laundering allegations

0

Ladi Adebutu, the candidate for governorship in Ogun State on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has responded to the allegations of vote-buying made against him by the Federal Government by saying that he does not accept them.

It was reported that the office of the Attorney General of the Federation had initiated legal action against Adebutu and nine other individuals for the allegations of vote buying and money laundering that occurred during the 2023 elections.

Wednesday, the Media Director of Adebutu’s campaign organization, Afolabi Orekoya, released a statement in which Adebutu claimed that he had neither been invited by the police nor served any court document related to the suit. Adebutu’s statement was made public.

He referred to the lawsuit as an abuse of the court process and a plot by the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the All Progressives Congress to divert the Tribunal’s attention away from the work that it is supposed to be doing.

Adebutu also disproved the rumour that he fled the country to avoid being arrested by the police by stating that he left the country on April 25 for his routine medical check-up after the election. This was in response to the rumour that he fled the country to avoid being arrested by the police.

The following is an excerpt from the statement: “We are just seeing it also in the media and I will just want to make some points clear, Oladipupo Adebutu has not been served with any court document as regards any charges except for the media trial that we are seeing all around to mislead the public and the Tribunal. “The media trial that we are seeing all around to mislead the public and the Tribunal.”

“They (APC and Abiodun) are only trying to distract people and distract the judiciary from giving proper attention to the merit of the petition that is before them,” Abiodun said of the APC and Abiodun. They ought to give the Tribunal the opportunity to do its work, as this constitutes an abuse of the judicial system. If they do so, at the end of the day, we will be able to determine whether or not vote buying was actually carried out.

During the governorship election on March 18, Adebutu has accused the Police Force of covering up an investigation into allegations of vote buying and electoral violence made against Abiodun and the APC.

The PDP candidate also accused Abiodun and the APC of using N3 billion of state funds to induce voters and thugs to disrupt elections in several parts of the state. This accusation was made in reference to Abiodun.

Adebutu further asserted that Abiodun and APC are attempting to obstruct justice by intimidating and harassing him, and that they are using the police to do so.

The following is an excerpt from the statement that was included: “We have petitioned the Nigerian Police for the past six weeks, but we are surprised why the police have not opened up an investigation into our petition against Abiodun and the APC on the votes bought by them.”

It has been reported virtually everywhere in the media that Governor Dapo Abiodun bribed voters with money from taxpayers. Because of this, they are covering up all of the shenanigans, and they have prevented the police from doing their job.

“We are calling on the state’s Inspector General of Police to please, in the interest of the good people of Ogun State, allow this petition to see the light of day. They should not cover it up, and they should not suppress it.

“We are aware of all the steps that the Governor has been taking in order to prevent all of these investigations from being conducted.

“We are appealing to the IGP to expeditiously allow a thorough investigation into how Dapo Abiodun used approximately N3 billion of taxpayer money to buy votes in Ogun State with the assistance of One Card limited,” said the organisation.

Tinubu administration intends to implement pay-as-you-work policy for employees

0

A National Pay Policy (NPP) has been formulated by the Federal Government of Nigeria in order to put an end to arbitrary treatment of employees in the workplace and to guarantee that Nigerian workers are paid fairly.

This information was made public on Wednesday in Abuja by Ekpo Nta, who serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

In an interview with the Daily Sun, Nta stated that the policy will determine a worker’s salary based on the number of hours they spend working in the office in addition to the quality of the work they produce.

He explained: “What it entails is that whenever people are working in any country, including in your own private organization, you have a policy guiding them. This is what it means for it to be international.” For instance, if you were to receive a new appointment in the government, you would be aware that your employment there would last for either 35 years or until you reached the age of 60, whichever came first.

“Consequently, that is the kind of policy that you are going to have to implement. To be eligible for that wage, you are required to be present at your place of employment from a specified time in the morning until a specified time in the day or night, depending on whether or not you work shifts. People who work in the information industry don’t even have opening and closing times to worry about. Your compensation will be based, ultimately, on the sum total of all of these factors. Will it be a set amount each month or will it fluctuate? Will you be eligible for any additional allowances?

“Are you going to get fringe benefits, because fringe benefits don’t always come in the form of cash?” “Are you going to get fringe benefits?” Do we give you a voucher to use at the hospital, or do we provide you with transportation home on one of our staff buses? These are elements that will go into defining the pay policy for your company. How many times during the year do I need to make a payment to you? Should it be on a monthly basis? Should it take place on a weekly basis? And how many times would you like an increase to be given to you? You are aware that there is a salary increase waiting for some people after the first year.

“At what intervals should we conduct a review of your compensation? Should this have an effect on how much you get paid? Should you continue working at your current job if inflation is so high? If the answer is no, what percentages or indices should we use instead? These elements are going to come together to form a pay policy.

Aside from that, as an employer, you should be able to know your income and determine how many workers to employ before you go about recruiting new employees. When choosing an insurance plan, it is also important to consider your financial situation. If you want to hire a driver for your home, the first thing you need to do is calculate how much money you bring in each month so that you know how much you can afford to pay a driver.

“Therefore, you are free to assert that you are able to hire a driver; however, you will not be able to pay N30,000 per month. That will now serve as a standard in your family. If you want to have two drivers, you can expect two different outcomes. Either you increase your budget of income to be able to pay for two drivers, or you negotiate with the driver to come between the hours of 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. Your only other option is to hire a third driver. These are the things that you refer to as your own local policies when you’re at home.”

Fr. Mbaka reveals election 2023 prophecy, says it was so clear

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry in Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), stated that his prophecy and vision shown to him by God was so clear several months after the conclusion of the 2023 presidential election, which was won by President Bola Tinubu.

It was reported that Fr. Mbaka said this in response to those individuals who had criticised him on social media following the results of the general election in 2023.

The well-known Christian cleric, while giving a sermon at one of his church’s locations, issued a stern warning to those who have been attacking him, particularly on social media, and insisted that he would not stop speaking.

Mbaka believes that social media platforms are powerless to suppress the voice of prophecy. The religious leader made the assertion that God shows people the future in visions, and that those visions will come true.

“Please, if the gift you have is not genuine, ask God for the real one, and stop fabricating things. If the gift you have is not genuine, ask God for the real one. When there is a lot of noise on social media, then somebody begins to speak because you think that if millions of people are speaking of somebody, that means the majority will win the vote. When there is a lot of noise, then somebody begins to speak. Prophecy and vision are not the same thing at all; it is something entirely different.

“God will make the future clear to you in the form of a vision. It will become clear to you. It was extremely obvious. Even during the time of Jonathan, I advised him to heed what the Holy Spirit advised him to do, which was to get rid of the offending party if he wanted to come out on top in the election. “If you don’t get rid of him, you’re going to lose, and Buhari is going to take over,” Father Mbaka warned.

People will never comprehend Father Mbaka, and as a result, they will begin to spread nonsense on social media. I’m going to keep talking regardless of whether or not you get what I’m saying.

NNPC: Investigate missing $2.1bn, N3.1 trn in subsidy payments or face legal action, SERAP warns Tinubu.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “set up a presidential panel of enquiry to promptly probe the grim allegations that US$2.1 billion and N3.1 trillion public funds of oil revenues and budgeted as fuel subsidy payments are missing and unaccounted for between 2016 and 2019, as documented by the Auditor-General of the Federation.” SERAP’s petition can be found here.

SERAP urged him to “name and shame anyone suspected to be responsible for the alleged widespread and systemic corruption in the use of oil revenues and the management of public funds budgeted as fuel subsidy, and to ensure their effective prosecution as well as the full recovery of any proceeds of crime.” SERAP urged him to “name and shame anyone suspected to be responsible for the alleged widespread and systemic corruption in the use of oil revenues and the management of public funds budgeted as fuel subsidy.”

SERAP also urged him “to promptly, thoroughly, independently, transparently, and effectively probe all fuel subsidy paid by successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999, and to use any recovered proceeds of crime as palliatives to address the impact of any subsidy removal on poor Nigerians.” Since the return of democracy in 1999, successive governments have paid fuel subsidies. SERAP urged him “to promptly, thoroughly, independently, transparently, and effectively probe all fuel subsidy paid.”

“There is a legitimate public interest in ensuring justice and accountability for these serious allegations,” the organization stated in the letter that was dated June 3, 2023, and signed by SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare. Without holding those responsible for violations of human rights accountable, there is no hope for economic expansion or long-term viability.

SERAP stated that “your government should urgently act to follow due process of law in any policy to remove fuel subsidy, ensure that suspected perpetrators of these crimes against Nigerians are brought to justice, and full recovery of any missing public funds.” SERAP also stated that “your government should urgently act to follow due process of law in any policy to remove fuel subsidy.”

Additionally, SERAP stated that “arbitrary removal of fuel subsidy without addressing outstanding accountability issues in the alleged mismanagement of oil revenues and fuel subsidy payments would amount to punishing poverty and further impoverishing the poor while letting high-profile officials and non-state actors get away with their crimes.”

The following was part of what was written in the letter: “Any removal of fuel subsidy should not be used as a ploy to keep the poor in poverty while those who are allegedly stealing oil revenues and fuel subsidy payments keep their ill-gotten wealth.”

“There are allegations of corruption in oil revenues and payments for fuel subsidies, which leads one to believe that the less fortunate have seen very little benefit from the utilization and administration of these revenues and payments.

“Poor and socio-economically vulnerable Nigerians should not be made to continue to pay the price for the stealing of the country’s oil wealth while state and non-state actors pocket public funds. This practice should be stopped immediately.”

“It would be greatly appreciated if the suggested actions were carried out within three days of the receipt of this letter and/or its publication. If by that time we have not heard from you, SERAP will take whatever legal action is necessary to compel your government to comply with our request in order to protect the public interest.

“The proposed panel should be headed by a retired justice from either the Supreme Court or the Court of Appeal, and its members should include individuals with proven professional records, people of the highest integrity, and people who are capable of acting impartially, independently, and transparently.

“In order to address the issues that have arisen as a result of the implementation of the fuel subsidy since 1999, a comprehensive strategy that places a high priority on accountability, as well as the complete recovery of lost crude oil and public funds, is required.

According to the audited reports that were conducted between 2016 and 2019 by the Auditor General of the Federation (AGF), the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) did not make a payment into the Federation Account in the amount of N663,896,567,227.58. The Auditor General is concerned that the money might not have been accounted for.

According to reports, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was unable to account for the allocation of crude oil to refineries in 2019. Without any documentation, 107 239 436 barrels of domestic crude oil were removed from storage and transported. The Auditor General is concerned that the crude oil, which has a market value of N55,891,009,960.63, may have been stolen.

In addition, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) violated Section 162(1) of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 [as amended] by failing to transfer the amounts of N1,955,354,671,268.66 and N55,157,702,848.74 into the Federation Account during the 2019 fiscal year. The Auditor General has serious concerns that the funds have been misappropriated.

“In addition, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was unable to account for N4,572,844,962.25 worth of “domestic petrol receipts,” which resulted in a “reduction of the distributable revenue in the Federation account.” The money needs to be returned in order to satisfy the Auditor General.

“In addition, the NNPC was unable to account for 22,929.84 litres of PMS that were pumped from refineries in 2019, which had a total value of N7,056,137,180.00. The Auditor General is concerned that the PMS was possibly used for another purpose.

“In addition, the NNPC ‘illegally classified’ 239,800 barrels of crude oil with a total value of N5,498,045,220 as ‘crude oil losses.'” The Auditor General is concerned that someone may have taken the crude oil and used it for another purpose.

According to reports, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in 2019 did not transfer US$1,278,364,595.49 in revenue to the Federation Account. The NNPC subtracted the amount from the total amount of Oil and Gas Royalty that was calculated by the DPR.

“The DPR in 2019 also deducted N19,840,081.29 from payments made by contractors and consultants as’stamp duty’ payments; however, the DPR instantly paid back the money to the contractors and consultants instead of remitting it to the treasury.

In 2019, the DPR also paid a total of N137,225,973.35 to contractors and consultants for a variety of contracts and consultancies, but they did not deduct any stamp duty from these payments. The Auditor General is interested in getting the money back.

“The DPR also paid a total of N11,856,088,271.92 in salaries for 2019, but it failed to deduct a contribution of 1% Industrial Training Fund (ITF) totaling N118,560,882.72 from those salaries. The DPR in 2019 was also unsuccessful in transferring the year’s balance of US$35,738,342.95. The money needs to be recovered and then repaid, according to the Auditor General.

“Also in 2018, the DPR withdrew US$759,387,755.10 from the DPR Signature Bonus Account without providing any explanation for the withdrawal, rather than depositing the money into the Federation Account.

According to the records pertaining to subsidies, a total subsidy payment of N443,940,559,974.80 was made in 2016, despite the fact that this sum of money was not accounted for in the budget. These payments were made to settle outstanding commitments for the Petroleum Support Fund (PSF) for the year 2015.

“However, there was no payment in 2016,” the sentence begins. The only payments that were made in 2016 were delinquent payments from the years 2014 and 2015, as well as interest payments.

“The Auditor-General is concerned that the oil marketers who received the subsidy payments may not have been ‘eligible to draw from the Petroleum Support Fund because the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Authority (PPPRA) failed to provide any documentation on the payments. This is due to the fact that the PPPRA failed to provide any documentation on the subsidies.

“Payments of Interest and Foreign Exchange Differential on Subsidy totaling N39,141,210,181.74 were made from the Federation Account in 2016 to various Oil Marketers in the form of 26 separate transactions. However, no document was ever produced to support these payments.

“The NNPC made ‘zero profit’ and recorded ‘losses from its joint ventures in 2016,” according to the Financial Times. This runs counter to the expectations that should be fulfilled by joint ventures in the form of profits.

“In 2016, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in Abuja paid the sum of N14,490,000.00 for the supply of three Nissan Almera Saloon vehicles 1.5 to the Ministry, despite the fact that the Ministry did not have the appropriate documentation. In accordance with the requirements of the Financial Regulations, the purchase of the vehicles was accomplished through direct procurement rather than through competitive bidding by a minimum of three different businesses. This contract did not undergo the normal process of advertising and receiving bids.

“Despite the fact that the Bureau of Public Procurement gave the go-ahead for the vehicles to cost N12,442,500.00, the Ministry of Transportation made an overpayment to the car company in the amount of N2,047,500.00.

“SERAP urges your government to prioritize investigating these allegations and ensuring accountability for the serious crimes committed against the people of Nigeria.

The right of Nigerians to restitution, compensation, and a guarantee that the offence will not be repeated can be advanced if prompt investigations are conducted, suspected perpetrators are named and shamed, and any missing public funds are recovered.

“The provisions of Chapter 2 of the Nigerian Constitution must be conformed to, observed, and applied in accordance with Section 13 of the Constitution of Nigeria, which clearly imposes this responsibility on your government. Your government is obligated to “eradicate all instances of corrupt practices and abuse of power” according to Section 15(5) of the Constitution.

“According to the first clause of Section 16 of the Constitution, it is the responsibility of your government to’secure the maximum welfare, freedom, and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity.’ According to the additional provisions of Section 16(2), “the material resources of the nation are harnessed and distributed as best as possible to serve the common good.”

“Both the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption, to which Nigeria is a state party, obligate your government to effectively prevent and investigate the plundering of the country’s wealth and natural resources and hold public officials and non-state actors accountable for any violations.” “The United Nations Convention against Corruption and the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption”

“More specifically, article 26 of the United Nations convention mandates that your government must ensure that cases of grand corruption are met with “effective, proportionate, and dissuasive sanctions,” which can include both criminal and non-criminal sanctions.

“The more general requirement stated in article 30, paragraph 1, that sanctions must take into account the gravity of the corruption allegations is supplemented by the provisions of article 26, which states:”

NADECO writes Tinubu, requests return to Republican Constitution

0

On Tuesday, members of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) sent a letter to Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, requesting that the country adopt the Republican Constitution once again.

The Republican Constitution from 1963 is a document that ensures genuine federalism and guarantees the harmonious coexistence of the various levels of government in the country.

The letter that was signed by NADECO’s spokesman, Ayo Opadokun, read as follows: “Nigeria remains a country not a nation till date because the military had without Nigerians democratic approval truncated, illegally suspended, abrogated and replaced our negotiated independent constitution and replaced it with Unitary Constitution till date,” the letter read.

“NADECO is more than convinced that a return to the Independence/Republican Constitution will restore a responsive and responsible government at the minimum as we grapple with the business of reconstructing our country, which has been successively overran/damaged for the narrow personal interests of politicians in military uniform since January 15, 1966. This is something that NADECO is more than convinced will happen.”

“All of the numerous political, legal, and structural aberrations that the various military dictators capriciously imposed on Nigeria can then be strategically corrected over the course of time,” says one author.

“NADECO is gratified that one of its most prominent Leaders who in fact contributed significantly to the titanic democratic struggle and campaign that the organization had to embark upon on behalf of Nigerians to restore democracy to Nigeria has by divine destiny become the elected President of the country of our birth,” they stated in the letter that was signed by Ayo Opadokun. They went on to say that they were “gratified” that the letter was signed by Ayo Opadokun.

“We would like to remind you of the most important demand of our common and just struggle, which was centred on the imperative necessity of returning Nigeria to federal constitutional governance, upon which we secured our independence. We would like to remind you of this demand as we would like to remind you of the most important demand of our common and just struggle.

“Nigeria is still considered a country rather than a nation to this day because the military, without the approval of the Nigerian people through democratic processes, truncated, illegally suspended, abrogated, and replaced our negotiated, independent constitution with a unitary constitution. This action has not been reversed to this day.”

The deceptively choreographed 1979 and 1999 Constitutions of Nigeria, both of which preserved all of the grave damages that successive military governments have forcibly imposed upon Nigeria, remain the bane of Nigeria’s backwardness, stunted growth, and unacceptable level of poverty.

“NADECO is more than convinced that a return to the Independence/Republican Constitution will restore the responsive and responsible government, at the very least, as we grapple with the business of reconstructing our country, which has been successively overrunning/damaged for the narrow personal interests of politicians in military uniform since January 15, 1966. NADECO is more than convinced that a return to the Independence/Republican Constitution will restore a responsive and responsible government, at the very least. After that, all of the numerous political, legal, and structural aberrations that were capriciously imposed on Nigeria by a variety of military dictators can be methodically corrected over the course of time.

“Mr. President, you were a part of the Patriots who suffered deprivations, dehumanization, and hounding along with us as we spoke the truth to the powers that forced themselves on us. During that time, you were one of the Patriots who endured these things.

“Fortunately, your own party established the Governor El-Rufai Committee, which recommended that the APC government should immediately fulfill its promise to return Nigeria to federal constitutional governance as described in your manifesto. The committee’s recommendation was accepted by the APC government.” The only thing that we ask of you is to put your good name on the line and pledge to uphold the commitment that your political party made prior to being elected into office.

“NADECO, on behalf of the silent majority of Nigerians, expects you to make Nigeria respond to her manifest destiny of providing leadership to the black race, which is looking up towards us to take our rightful place in the global diplomatic leadership in order to demonstrate that black civilization is as consequential and important as the others for the growth and advancement of humanity. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has stated that his support for the removal of the subsidy that is paid on petroleum products is genuine, but that his support comes with the condition that the people should be able to see the condition for themselves.

Obi, who was ambushed by judicial correspondents as he attended his ongoing election petition at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) sitting at the Court of Appeal headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, stated that his support for the removal of subsidies dates back to the time of Goodluck Jonathan, during which he served as a member of the Presidential Economic Management Team. Obi was attending his election petition at the time of the ambush.

Words from him: “If you have followed me very well right from the time that I was a member of Jonathan’s economic management team, I have consistently maintained that subsidy should be removed because I view it as organized crime.

“People were just stealing the country’s resources, and I showed empirically in my statistical analysis that we are not consuming the amount of fuel that they claim we consume,” the speaker said. “We are not consuming the amount of fuel that they claim we consume.”

The former governor of Anambra State differentiated his idea of the removal of subsidies from what is happening in the country at this time by saying that they are linking him to the two options that are available to a person who is suffering from a toothache.

If you go to a dentist to have a tooth extracted because it is causing you pain, he will, according to what he said, “apply a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth so you do not feel any pain.” You won’t experience the same level of pain as you would if you pulled the tooth out forcefully because the process is different.

Because I don’t want to put myself through the discomfort of having the tooth forcibly extracted, I’m going to go along with the method recommended by the dentist and support the removal of the tooth.

“Remember that even when Jonathan wanted to get rid of it, they came up with a variety of policies like Sure-P and others to help relieve the pressure.”

“If you read my manifesto, you will see how I intended to get rid of the subsidy in a clear and concise manner. I will run the government alongside the people and demonstrate to them, using statistics and real-world examples, what we are obtaining and how we are putting it to use.

“The issue in Nigeria is that when people say, ‘Let’s go suffer, let’s go sacrifice,’ they don’t see the results of their own suffering and sacrifice,” he explained. “This is the root of the problem.”
