The State Executive Council met in length on Friday under the direction of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, where important state policies were examined and new implementation guidelines were given to ministries and agencies.
At the Government House in Osogbo, the conference, which lasted late into the night, evaluated progress in several sectors and took note of what the governor called “a very high job performance rating” from the populace.

Priorities include the Ilesa dualization, the Ile-Ife flyover, the Oke Fia/Lameco flyovers, and the Iwo dualization. The governor promised that ongoing road and infrastructure projects will be completed on time.

Regarding the recently enacted State Electricity Market law, Adeleke instructed the Energy Commissioner to create an implementation strategy and approach the National Electricity Regulatory Commission for support.

The Governor assigned the Ministry of Science and Innovation the responsibility of expediting the implementation of the State ICT and Tech Innovation policies and creating a plan for the implementation of blockchain and artificial intelligence.

The Imole Wifi Initiative’s launch was praised, but he encouraged the government to portray Osun as a tech-driven state.

The Statewide Youth Agropreneurship Project, which was started in Oriade, must be immediately implemented in other local government areas, according to Adeleke’s directive.

Regarding sports, he urged tighter cooperation with the House of Assembly and demanded immediate work on measures creating the Osun Sports Commission, the Police Trust Fund, and the Osun Sports Development Fund.

ALGON members were instructed by Adeleke to draft developmental documents that were in line with the state agenda in order to address the local government dilemma. To spearhead the endeavor, he assigned the Ministry of Budget and the Chief of Staff.

Additionally, he mandated an evaluation of the Imole Youth Corps to guarantee the scheme’s objectives are delivered with excellence.

Osun’s progress in combating climate change was also praised by the governor, who said that other states, the federal government, and foreign donor organizations were taking notice of the program.

“The ultimate objective is to secure funding and donor support from multiple willing organizations,” he stated.

Adeleke emphasized that before the election season, it is imperative to collect reliable governance data from all sectors.

Data and statistics on our performance in the many state economic areas are needed as the election season draws near. The creation of our governance data ought to begin. Modern best practices must guide the statistics agency’s operations,” he stated.

The council authorized the promotion of minor chiefs to Part II Chiefs, established a powerful committee to address the lack of personnel in health and education, and confirmed Prince Adeleke Saheed Adeyemi’s appointment as the Olokusa of Okusa in Egbedore Local Government following lengthy discussions.

The approval of the governor’s speech as council resolutions marked the official end of the meeting.

Tonye Cole, the former All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Rivers State, has attacked Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, for his affiliation with the ruling APC although claiming to be a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program on Friday, Cole stated that Wike shouldn’t mislead people about his political affiliation.

Do you think he’s PDP or APC? To the best of our knowledge, he is PDP.

“We can’t keep confusing Rivers State voters and Nigerians because it is dangerous for democracy to be in one party and control another party, and we are trying to create a one-party state that is a mixture that nobody is clear about,” he stated.

It was noted that Wike ran against his party’s Northern-born candidate, Atiku Abubakar, when campaigning for the presidency in 2023, urging him to relocate to the South.

Following that, President Bola Tinubu nominated the former governor of Rivers State as a minister.

He has endorsed the president’s ambition for a second term in many forums.

In the August 30 local government election in Rivers, the APC was said to have won 20 of the 23 council seats.

In Obio/Akpo, where Wike chaired the council for two terms in 1999 before becoming a governor from 2015 to 2023, the PDP were victorious in three councils.

According to African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu, opposition leaders have effectively outmanoeuvred President Bola Tinubu’s administration with their political strategies ahead of the general elections in 2027. These leaders include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi.
Speaking on Friday’s Sunrise program on Channels Television, Momodu asserted that the opposition coalition’s strength had shocked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which was attempting to undermine parties by inciting internal strife.

He said that the APC’s decision to make Tinubu a consensus candidate in 2027 was a response to their concerns about a strong opposition.

He claimed that in order to destabilize parties like the Labour Party, PDP, and NNPP, government officials purposefully formed factions within them.

Momodu revealed that the organizers of the ADC foresaw these strategies and acted proactively to protect the party’s organization against outside intervention.

The media tycoon also disclosed that the opposition purposefully tricked the ruling party into believing they were siding with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or another new platform before revealing the ADC as their focal point.

He commended ADC leaders for their tenacity, calling them “several steps ahead” of efforts to undermine the alliance.

“The ruling party is clearly nervous,” he remarked. In 2027 in particular, the ruling party does not want any serious challenge. They want a single candidate, but they don’t care too much about the governors and the others.

“The president and commander in chief are the one individual that all political parties should support, if at all feasible. When the news emerged yesterday that these men were headed to court, I wasn’t shocked.

“We are all aware of what is happening. If someone feels wronged, there is nothing wrong with them going to court. Fortunately, they should have been aware that the ADC conveners put in a great deal of effort behind the scenes to get us to where we are today.

“They were slow. They were aware that the government agents would try to impose their will, as they have done in the past with Labour, the PDP, and the NNPP, causing divisions everywhere.

However, you must honor the leaders and gentlemen who worked on ADC. They attempted to tighten every screw because they are highly skilled individuals and well-known politicians. It came as a surprise.

“You could see they were doing abracadabra over time, and everybody assumed they were going to SDP. When Nasir El-Rufai announced his intention to join SDP, everyone said, ‘Oh, it’s obvious that the opposition or the coalition will join SDP. Then we hear about ADA about a week or so before ADC. “Oh yes, we are going to use cutlass and everything,” somebody were saying. Then ADC appeared out of nowhere.

Therefore, I wasn’t surprised. I wasn’t surprised. In actuality, the genuine stakeholders, who ought to be aware of everything meant to irritate ADC, are already far ahead of that annoyance.

It is unfortunate. It is regrettable that after everything we endured during the military era, a civilian government would not want democracy to thrive. There have been many sacrifices made for this democracy, and we will never know when a few individuals may want to take it over for their own gain, which is exactly what is taking place right now.

“As you can see, PDP has been unable to advance. Furthermore, I do not even claim that the PDP is currently in a state of immobility. It’s even reversing direction. Anytime they believe they have figured out a solution, one man will take the stage, sabotage it, and publicly brag that they can utilize INEC and the courts.

Now that INEC has failed and the attempt to utilize it has failed, the courts will be the next to collapse. I also hope that the judiciary will have the courage to do so. There is nothing to fear. In order to know that their children, grandkids, and other unborn people would live in Nigeria, those in the judiciary should live for their legacy. Therefore, if you destroy Nigeria, consider all of the people who have destroyed Nigeria in the past. Where are they now?

Therefore, I will only make one request to the judiciary: resist their pressure and temptation.

John Chuma Nwosu, the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) candidate for governor of Anambra State, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for regularly re-establishing the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), which is led by David Mark.
In an interview with reporters, he denied allegations that the election official was only following a script to set up ADC for judicial ruin.

Conspiracy theories have no place in the exercise of democratic rights and obligations, he claimed.

The swift acknowledgement of the ADC’s national leadership, according to Nwosu, was a significant democratic gesture for Anambra voters. He emphasized that the development was a welcome relief during a period when the public was looking for a reliable option.

“Recall that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was the alternative, and the Anambra people enthusiastically embraced the party,” he said.

“Now, twenty-four years later, the same APGA has grown drunk on power and has begun disparaging the populace.

However, God has recollected the state as the nation’s light. Also, INEC has shown fairness and patriotism by regularizing ADC’s leadership.

“So I can tell you that the coalition of opposition politicians who are patriotic would come together in Anambra to start the national rescue journey.”

“An ulterior motive does not exist. ADC has been established; the commission has completed its duties and all required paperwork has been completed.

“Instead of the dilapidated platforms that have been defrauding the public, voters now have a reliable substitute.

With ample space, the people of Anambra would be able to exercise their right to vote on November 8 and choose a servant leader rather than a haughty miscreant or opportunist.

All political parties will be compelled to run campaigns centered on subjects that the public finds important as a result of INEC’s actions.

Ahead of the 2027 election, Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has accused certain politicians of trying to use former President Goodluck Jonathan against Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate.
According to reports, Tanko disclosed this in an interview with Daily Trust, saying that the two leaders’ meeting on Thursday was not unexpected.

Although Tanko acknowledged both Jonathan and Peter Obi are serious candidates, the Obidients would rather the former president resign in favor of the former Anambra State governor.

“They have been friends for a long time,” he stated. The purpose of the gathering was for them to get together and talk about ways to save Nigeria.

Although they are both serious candidates, we would prefer it if Jonathan continued to be the statesman for whom he is known. He is respected, has done his best as president, and now is the moment for him to stand behind his brother.

“Keep in mind that Obi supported Jonathan throughout his presidency and was a member of his economic management team. Now is Jonathan’s moment to stand with Obi.

We are aware that some politicians are attempting to use Jonathan against Peter Obi, but we are adamant that their efforts will fail. For the sake of equity, many Nigerians think the South should be given the opportunity to elect the country’s future president. Peter Obi is the best applicant.

“It is only common sense for Obi to step down for him,” claimed one of Jonathan’s aides, who also revealed that the topic of conversation on Thursday was 2027. Achieving the ideal balance is crucial, and Obi can persuade his group of this.
