An effort to maintain colonialism in Nigeria, according to the National Democratic Coalition, a pro-democracy organisation, was made in the Wednesday British Broadcasting Corporation report on President Bola Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University.
The BBC was quickly losing its reputation for ethics and journalism in light of its alleged “attempt to launder the image of President Tinubu,” it noted. It was surprising that the British media outlet had decided to take part in this “image-laundering project, despite irrefutable evidence pointing to the authenticity of the allegations.”

The academic certificates that President Bola Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2023 presidential election from Chicago State University were not forged, according to a report released by the BBC Disinformation Team on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, NADECO made the following statement: “It is our solemn duty to shed light on deceit and manipulation, even when it is carried out by influential figures, in a world where integrity and honesty are increasingly becoming rare commodities.” Today, we remain unwavering in our opposition to the British Broadcasting Corporation’s most recent careless propaganda stunt, which appears to be an attempt to repair President Bola Tinubu’s damaged reputation.
We have seen a persistent effort in recent times to restore President Bola Tinubu’s reputation, which has been severely damaged by the controversy surrounding the CSU certificate forgery. Not surprisingly, the BBC’s Disinformation Team is behind this latest attempt at image laundering. It depresses to witness such mischievous and biassed reporting from an organisation that the public has long trusted.
We are astounded by the BBC’s intention and thought process behind this hatchet job, not by the attempt to harm President Tinubu’s reputation, given that he recently employed a new group of media aides for same purposes. First of all, we find it incomprehensible that the BBC would show such flagrant disrespect for information that is generally known. Under oath, the registrar of CSU categorically declared that the certificate Tinubu submitted to INEC was not legitimate and had not been issued by the university, hinting strongly at forgery. However, the BBC has decided to embellish the narrative in order to mislead the astute Nigerian populace.
It’s not surprising, once more, that Tinubu recently hired a new group of media assistants in an attempt to repair his public image after realising the harm the Chicago State University certificate forgery scandal had done to his reputation. Substantial evidence supports the veracity of the allegations, but what is really shocking is how much the BBC has decided to participate in this image-laundering scheme.
Maybe the old colonial mouthpiece is at work, or perhaps there is something that Tinubu’s money cannot buy?
What would the BBC term it if the registrar of the CSU, testifying under oath, declared categorically that the certificate Tinubu submitted to INEC is not from their university and is definitely a forgery? Most astonishingly, the BBC decided to broadcast its version of events with the express purpose of misleading the well-read Nigerian populace.

He identified as female on his admissions paperwork.
He utilised a female social security number belonging to another person.

The BBC’s apparent failure to fact-check these obvious inconsistencies before presenting its report to the Nigerian people, it continued, “is what truly confounds and perplexes NADECO USA, knowingly and maliciously doing a disservice to journalism and to the very people they are meant to inform.”
Additionally, it has been evident that the BBC is unwilling to look into the possibility that Tinubu and his allies rigged the Nigerian general elections or that he was involved in a drug case in the United States. It seems that the BBC is more likely to twist existing information, even though the world expects them to provide unbiased, investigative journalism. Because Nigerians already know the truth, the BBC’s biassed reporting erodes their already diminishing credibility and betrays their confidence.
Nigerians and people around the world who value journalism that is honest and truthful are beginning to see less value and trust in the British Broadcasting Corporation. The unfortunate people of Nigeria are unable to put up with the obnoxiousness of a mouthpiece for British colonialism or the colonial haughtiness demonstrated by such unsubstantiated and false narratives.
“With reckless disregard for the truth and a betrayal of the Nigerian people, NADECO USA strongly condemns the BBC’s media report. We demand that the BBC stop engaging in these activities going forward.”
