Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has announced a cooperation with IHS Towers that will alter Nigeria’s technology landscape.

The collaboration announces the formation of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Learning Community, a bold effort that will transform the country’s approach to technical education and talent development.

In a message posted on social media this morning, the minister stated that the government would train three million technical talent over the next four years.

The minister stated that he would employ a 1-10-100 methodology. This entails teaching 1% of the three million people in three months, then 10% over a set length of time, and finally 100%.

The 3MTT Learning Community will reach all 36 states as well as Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
IHS Towers, a significant player in the telecommunications business, is providing a whopping N1 billion to this unique effort.

UNRWA, the UN organization that helps Palestine refugees, will run out of fuel in three days, Director-General Philippe Lazzarini warned on Sunday, endangering humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

“Water, operational hospitals, and bakeries won’t exist without fuel. Aid cannot get to people who are in dire need without fuel. Humanitarian aid cannot exist without electricity.

“No fuel will further strangle Gaza’s people, women, and children,” he declared in a statement.

With almost two million residents, UNRWA is the biggest humanitarian organization in the Gaza Strip.

Following the outbreak of the most recent conflicts on October 7, more than a million people have been forced to flee, with more than half of them taking refuge in its facilities.

“Without fuel, we will fail the people of Gaza whose needs are growing by the hour, under our watch,” Lazzarini said, stressing that “this cannot and should not happen.”

He urged all parties and those in positions of authority to permit fuel supplies into Gaza right once and to make sure that they are strictly utilized in order to keep humanitarian efforts from failing.

Even though he applauded the first humanitarian convoy’s arrival in Gaza on Saturday, Lazzarini emphasized the need for ongoing help and said it was “far from enough.”

On Sunday, UNRWA also released its most recent status report, which showed that 17 more staff members had been injured and that the total number of staff deaths since the violence started was 29.

Half of those slain were teachers, according to a UNRWA post on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

The study also showed that there had been close to 180 injuries and 12 fatalities among the displaced persons taking refuge at UNRWA schools.

The Nigerian Customs Service and the family of the officer slain on Saturday in Geidam by suspected Boko Haram militants have received condolences from Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Through his spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, the governor made a statement on Sunday in which he referred to the attack on the Customs facility and the officer’s death as regrettable and tragic.

“It is regrettable that this awful occurrence strikes us during a period of comparatively calm weather around the state.

“There is no doubt that our brave security personnel have kept a close eye on things to ensure the safety of people and property throughout the state.

But this regrettable incident serves as a reminder for us all to exercise caution and not let the serenity we enjoy fool us or fool us with unexpected events.

“The Yobe State government and people extend their condolences and sympathy to the Nigeria Customs Service, the Controller General, and the family of the slain officer,” added Buni.

He gave his word that his government would remain committed to working with security personnel to enhance the overall relative peace that the State currently enjoys.

Buni prayed for the late officer’s ultimate peace and his family’s strength to endure the irreversible loss.

The governor urged the residents of the state to always give the authorities and security services timely and helpful information on dubious individuals and movements in their neighborhoods.

The All Progressives Congress, which is in power, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win when the Supreme Court considers cases contesting his election victory today.

The Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party are contesting Tinubu’s win in the presidential election on February 25.

The opposition parties had already been defeated when they initially contested Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Court.

Disappointed with the PEPC’s decision, the parties—Atiku Abubakar, the PDP, and Peter Obi, the LP—as well as their nominees went to the Supreme Court, whose hearing is scheduled for today.

APC Director of Publicity Bala Ibrahim predicted that the opposition would lose once more in a statement made on Sunday in advance of today’s hearing.

“I know the justices of the Supreme Court are just, and we are expecting justice,” he remarked. They will evaluate each case based on its merits. Consequently, we have hope that justice will be served, just as it was in the past (tribunal judgement).

“A just and equitable decision is what we anticipate, nothing more. I have faith in Nigeria’s legal system, whatever the situation may be. Justice will be served, and I take solace in the knowledge that everyone involved, winners or losers, shall act honorably.

As a party, however, the APC is certain that the Supreme Court will rule in a just manner.

But the PDP voiced hope that Tinubu would be removed from office and Atiku declared the winner by the Supreme Court.

In a statement released on Sunday, Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary for the PDP, stated, “The world and Nigerians alike look to the Supreme Court for justice, believing that it will uphold the law and apply the express provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) Constitution, the Electoral Act, 2022, and INEC Guidelines and Regulations in order to deliver substantial justice in the matter.

The sincere hope held by Nigerians and supporters of democracy worldwide is that the Supreme Court will utilize this case to solidly uphold the adage that the court is the last resort for the average person.

Nigerians are therefore hopeful that the Supreme Court would apply the law and the facts of the case to give significant justice.

The Allied Peoples Movement, meanwhile, said that Tinubu’s running partner was not duly chosen and petitioned the Supreme Court to declare the election invalid.

The party claims that the placeholder proposed by President Ibrahim Masari was not changed in the 14 days allowed by Section 33 of the Electoral Act.

The APM added that it was incorrect for the tribunal to rule that Tinubu and Kashim Shettima’s nomination and sponsorship were APC internal matters.
