The Federal Government has added 45 more aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force in the previous six months, according to Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.

This discovery was revealed by Abubakar on Tuesday in Katsina.

In the state that has been rocked by bandit activity, Abubakar travelled to the North-West theatre of operations to spend Christmas and have lunch with frontline troops from the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji and 213 Forward Operating Base.

The Chief of Air Staff listed the military aircraft in his telegram as one Beechcraft 360, two T129 attack helicopters, 62 multifunctional aircraft, and four diamond aircraft.

Twelve AH10 attack helicopters, twenty-four M346 attack aircraft, and two Kasa 295 medium airlift surveillance aircraft are among the other planned acquisitions, he said.

He said that all of the purchases show how deeply committed the Federal Government is to provide the Nigerian Air Force with the necessary tools for safe training operations and to handle security threats to the country.

He prayed for the rest of the dead warriors who have given their all in the protection of their nation and praised the recent efforts made by the armed forces to conduct successful operations in the area.

“We will persist in supplying the troops with all the essential logistics and assistance to guarantee the triumph of their operations,” stated Abubakar.

President Godswill Akpabio of the Senate has promised that the National Assembly will back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

During the Christmas service at the Methodist Cathedral of Unity in Abuja, Akpabio made the promise to the congregation.

Reiterating that President Tinubu was capable of handling matters, he urged Nigerians to continue their prayers for the president.

“Nigeria is in good hands, and I implore Nigerians to keep praying to Mr. President for God’s wisdom to lead the nation’s affairs.

He predicted that “the nation would soon emerge stronger, with all citizens enjoying the benefits of democracy.”

Six illicit oil refining installations in Opu Arugbana, Degema Local Government Area, Rivers, were destroyed on December 23 by the Air Component of Operation Delta Safe, according to the Nigerian Air Force, or NAF.

The NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, made this announcement on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Gabkwet, the aerial attacks were a continuation of the operations to eradicate oil thieves and vandals of oil pipelines from the Niger Delta region.

He said that the unlawful sites were seen concentrated around 80 metres around a point about 6 nautical miles south of Opu Arugbana.

He claimed that after the six locations were verified as operational, permission was secured to demolish them in order to deter criminal activity.

“Air operations against criminals continue unabated in the Niger Delta and other parts of the country despite the festive season.”

The Air Component Commanders’ achievements in every theatre of operations have been praised by Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.

Abubakar charged them not to stop until criminal activity was reduced to the bare minimum. Abubakar, who is now in Katsina to honour military, spent Christmas Day with troops in the Northeast.

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by Senator David Jimkuta, who represents the Taraba South senatorial constituency, to declare a state of emergency regarding security in the Takum and Ussa local government councils of the state.

He feels that if the appeal is followed, it will solve the senseless killings that have been occurring in local government councils.

In Wukari Council on Tuesday, Jimkuta—who also serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Warfare and Poverty Alleviation—made the announcement while taking questions from the media.

Declaring a state of emergency, according to him, will allow farmers to reconstruct their livelihoods on their farms in the face of an unparalleled threat to the food security of the region.

The senator warned that if the killings in the two local councils were not stopped, they will spread to other areas of the state. He also revealed that over 700 people have died in these councils in just three months.

He lamented the threat and added that the banditry in the region had left more than fifty communities in Takum and Ussa in disarray.

He urged cooperation between the residents and security services in their attempts to find the bandits and kidnappers who have been terrorising the area and called for them to act decisively.

Residents of the two councils were said to have been living in constant fear as a result of the bandits’ unrelenting murders.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, stated that Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a firm believer in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

At this point, Akpabio called Ganduje a brilliant politician and an excellent organiser.

As he wished Ganduje a happy 74th birthday, he made the comment.

He emphasised that after becoming the helm of the APC, the former governor of Kano was able to bring back harmony and reason in a statement released by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.
