The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) staff is thrilled with the recent reversal of a new permanent secretary who was allegedly posted to the administration.

The majority of senior staff members have praised President Bola Tinubu for listening to their grievances.

The FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, was also commended for his prompt involvement that resulted to the posting’s reversal, which they claimed was “uncalled for, unlawful, and inimical to the powers of the President who has already approved creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission.”

In an interview with some media in Abuja over the weekend, the employees operating under the auspices of the League of Retired and Serving FCTA Directors said this.

The President and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory were praised for their unwavering commitment to enacting comprehensive reforms that would realign the Administration, enhance employee morale, augment productivity, and guarantee efficient public service delivery.

In a few short months, the two “have been able to achieve so much in human, institutional, and physical development of the nation’s capital,” according to League Chairman Lukeman Oramosele, who spoke on behalf of the staff.

He emphasized that ever since the present minister took office, all project sites that had previously been abandoned were teeming with construction activity.

Oramosele gave voice to optimism for a better Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria, stating: “It is clear that we are in for good times and better days, not just as staff members who are serving or have retired, but also as contractors handling Federal Government or FCTA projects in the FCT are happy because they are working and paying nonstop.”

“Despite the challenges, there is hope throughout the entire country because the ship’s captain is guiding it away from the storms and into calm waters, and we can see and feel hope.”

Remember that the Federation’s Head of Civil Service recently assigned Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the new Permanent Secretary, to the FCTA?

She was supposed to succeed Olusade Adesola, the Permanent Secretary in position at the moment, who is scheduled to retire on May 29, 2024.

The President’s recent approval of the FCT Civil Service Commission’s creation, which does not include the position, appears to have been the reason for the rejection protest that the FCT Administration officials conducted shortly after her assignment was made public.

The League of Retired and Serving FCTA Directors serves as a forum for senior FCTA employees and their retired colleagues to exchange ideas and how to enhance service delivery.

The Kano State gubernatorial election ruling from the Supreme Court has been examined, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party declared that it is working to forge a solid path that will bring its members together and embrace newcomers.

It was recalled that the Supreme Court upheld Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf’s election victory on Friday.

A group of Justices headed by Inyang Okoro unanimously restored his earlier triumph from the March 2023 election, which had been invalidated by the two lower courts.

The governor was first dismissed from office due to claims of irregularities during the contentious March 2023 election, but the Supreme Court overturned the concurrent rulings of the two lower courts.

The party expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and commitment to Kano State and the APC family in a communiqué signed by Mallam Muhammad Garba, Chief of Staff to the APC National Chairman.

The party praised his dedication to the advancement and growth of the party throughout the nation and the state.

The stakeholders’ meeting decided to maintain the doors of the APC in Kano open to hundreds of new members who are eager to join, according to Mallam Muhammad Garba, speaking on behalf of the party.

He went on to say that because of the party’s good leadership and its promises, the party is actively looking to recruit new members on both an individual and group basis.

As Garba pointed out, the meeting also decided to call a large-scale stakeholders’ gathering in Kano to plan ways to further strengthen the party’s unity for better development.

He stated, “The meeting also called on the party’s members to maintain composure and await the outcome of the expanded stakeholders meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024. It also appreciated the party’s members for their maturity, support, and patience during the legal battle.”

Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhajj Alhassan Yaryasa has warned Governor Abba Yusuf against dissolving the state’s new emirates.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero replaced Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano during the emirates’ establishment by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Following the 2023 governorship election, former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, a political godfather to Governor Abba Yusuf, promised to reverse Ganduje’s decision and restore the Kano Emirate to its original structure.

The Tinubu Campaign Organisation for Kano South Coordinator, Alhajj Yaryasa, advised Governor Yusuf not to dismantle the emirates.

He emphasized the need for state peace by arguing that such a move could cause emirate unrest and resistance.

Yaryasa worried about external influences pressuring the governor to cause conflict between the government and emirate communities.

Advising Governor Yusuf to put state interests before personal and political ones.

The governor’s popularity could suffer if the emirates are dissolved, Yaryasa warned.

That traditional rulers are not political appointees and should only be removed for serious crimes, he said.

Yaryasa asked top state elders to advise the governor against tampering with the new emirates.

In order to preserve the sanctity of traditional institutions, he also supported legislation that would prevent politicians from meddling in their affairs.

The governor should be advised by state elders not to bow to pressure from the new emirates because it will harm the state.

“A law should prevent politicians, especially governors and other elected officials, from meddling in traditional American institutions.

APC leader told Punch, “Politicians should respect traditional institutions, otherwise it will be rendered useless in the eyes of society.”

Salihu Lukman, the former director general of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to restore the functioning of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently in power.

On Friday’s episode of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, Lukman—the APC’s immediate vice chairman—announced this.

After Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore left their positions as the party’s national chairman and secretary, respectively, in July of last year, he added, the APC needed to be forced to function.

“I expect President Asiwaju to address the fundamental issue of making sure our party’s structures are operating properly,” he stated.

“After fighting to remove Senator Iyiola Omisore and Abdullahi Adamu from the party leadership, I am frustrated because it’s not about getting them out; it’s about making the right decisions to make sure these structures work so that anybody who comes should be able to work based on the party constitution.”

Approximately two years following the breakup of the National Working Committee (NWC), which was led by Adams Oshiomhole, Adamu assumed the position of APC national chairman in March 2022.

Adamu served as the state’s governor of Nasarawa from May 1999 to May 2007. Additionally, from May 2011 to April 2022, she served as the senator for Nasarawa West in the National Assembly.

Prior to the APC presidential primary in June 2022, Adamu declared former Senate President Ahmad Lawan the party’s consensus nominee. However, a group of northern governors vehemently disagreed, preferring former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu ultimately defeated Lawan, then-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, and other APC power brokers to become the party’s nominee. The presidential election of February 25, 2023 would be won by the former governor of Lagos.

Adamu and Omisore were forced to leave the ruling party two months after Tinubu took office as president of Nigeria due to a series of issues.

Lukman remarked, “We had to fight to get Asiwaju to win the ticket,” in reference to the APC’s current performance. It shouldn’t be business as usual now that you have won the ticket.

For example, if the real federalism report by the Malam Nasir El-Rufai-led Committee was produced under former President Buhari—I am a member of that committee. The task was carried out honestly, without even debating the views of influential individuals. Instead, the objective was to gather public opinion, weigh it, and encourage people to start considering their options. We then presented those possibilities, including draft legislation bills.

“I argued about this in several of my writings,” he remarked in response to a question about why the report was not put into action. The APC’s conservative wing frequently gets its way. Their advanced abilities enable them to prevent the completion of tasks they find objectionable. I am frustrated in part because of the APC since they are everywhere. I anticipated that the APC would hold a lot of debates. Without meetings, there would be no debates; instead, candidates would have to plot to gain positions and run for office even in the absence of elections. In a democracy like that, progress is impossible.

Although there have been significantly less instances of electoral manipulation than there were in 2015, according to Lukman, “where there are gaps is our democracy’s capacity to produce leaders that are accountable to citizens.” responsibility in terms of attending to public needs and serving as a spokesperson for public interests. This has a large void in it.

It also reflects, in my opinion, how we prioritize the entire system and institution that should guide governance following elections. And the political party is that establishment.

This is because, as of right now, none of our parties—including the APC—are operating, and the National Executive Committee, which is meant to meet quarterly, hasn’t met since August.

Similar to the Board of Trustees, the National Advisory Council has not met since 2013. Not one National Advisory Council meeting, either. The National Caucus is a framework that should be advisory and can meet even once a week, but it doesn’t.

“Though they should have a constitution, we have established organizations like the women’s and youth wings, but nothing has been done as of yet,” he stated.

Siminalayi Fubara, the state governor of Rivers State, has received a call from Tony Okocha, the chairman of the APC’s Caretaker Committee, urging her to hold local government elections in accordance with the constitution.

Okocha made the request while speaking to reporters during the Inter Party Advisory Committee’s (IPAC) visit to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) on Thursday. He pointed out that the current LGA chairmen’s terms are about to expire in a few months.

According to him, the APC is prepared to run in the LGA elections.

“I felt that I should also take this opportunity to call on the Rivers State Government to add to the calls that we have made for an election to be conducted,” stated Okocha. “This is because the constitution permits an election to be held following a specific amount of time.”

“And in a few months, the current council members’ terms will come to an end. Naturally, procedures must be followed because the law stipulates that parties must have a reasonable amount of time to notify one another about the impending election.

We would also like to take this opportunity to inform the governor that things are not going as usual.

The usage of caretaker arrangements in local governments has actually been declared by the Supreme Court to be an anomaly.

We will not be boycotting elections this time around; it was a mistake that was made in the past and it won’t happen again.
