Guinness World Record: Canada-Based Nigerian Delivers Longest Leadership Lesson

0

In Calgary, Canada, Peter Adeleke, a Nigerian-born author and leadership coach, taught for 28 hours and 45 minutes, thereby setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest leadership course.

The previous record of 24 hours was to be surpassed by Adeleke, who started the marathon lecture in August with a target of 30 to 48 hours.

He declared in an Instagram post on Monday that he was now a title holder after the Guinness World Records had accepted his attempt.

We are happy to notify you that your application for the longest leadership lesson was accepted, and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder! This is a partial screenshot of the GWR confirmation email.

On its official website, GWR verified the record, saying, “On August 30, 2025, Peter Adeleke (Canada) in Calgary, Canada, achieved the longest leadership lesson, which is 28 hours and 45 minutes.”

“Peter is an accomplished leadership specialist, speaker, and writer. He set out to break the leadership narrative by setting a record in the field.

“He aspires to elevate the standard for leadership development and ignite discourse regarding transformational leadership.”

In addition, Adeleke celebrated the milestone by posting on Instagram, “It’s official! He trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can break a steel bow. Praise be to the Lord for my strength, which teaches my mouth to speak, my hands to fight, and my fingers to war.

The announcement that I now hold the Guinness World Record for the Longest Leadership Lesson in history is an honor and a source of great humility.

It was grace, resiliency, and the steadfast support of an amazing team that made this journey possible, not strength. All honor belongs to God alone.

He went on to clarify why he didn’t meet his original 48-hour target on his website, writing, “I had originally set out to teach for 48 hours, but I completed the feat in 28 hours instead.”

In leadership and in life, I’ve discovered that success isn’t necessarily about meeting your exact goals. It’s about challenging yourself, finding your actual boundaries, and making a significant difference in the process.

“Have I broken the record? Indeed, I did, and it’s now verified and official! What was most important was breaking the previous record of 24 hours, which I did by giving a 28-hour leadership lesson.

Adeleke’s accomplishment places her among an increasing number of Nigerians who possess a Guinness World Record.

Obasanjo Declares: I Could Have Secured a Third Term if I Wanted

Long-standing claims that former President Olusegun Obasanjo previously attempted to serve more than the two terms allowed by the constitution have been refuted.

Recall that Obasanjo was Nigeria’s leader from 1999 to 2007.

Speaking Wednesday at the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation’s Democracy Dialogue in Accra, Ghana, Obasanjo claimed that neither living nor deceased Nigerians could provide proof that he had ever advocated for a third term.

“I think I’m not a fool,” he said. I know how to approach it if I wanted it, or at least someone thought I did. I contacted him and told him I wanted the third term, but no Nigerian, living or dead, will claim that. Nothing.

If he had been sincere in his pursuit of a third term, the former president contended, he could have achieved debt relief for Nigeria, which he described as a much more challenging accomplishment.

As he put it, “I keep telling them that, look, if I wanted to get debt relief, which is more difficult than getting a third term and I got it, I would have gotten a third term too.”

Regarded as one of the most significant accomplishments of Obasanjo’s government, Nigeria obtained a $18 billion debt relief deal from the Paris Club in 2005.

Leaders who believe they are indispensable should be avoided, Obasanjo added, calling such an attitude a “sin against God.”

According to some, no one else will be there until they are. They will go so far as to claim that they have no other partners. That, in my opinion, is a sin against God since, should God take you away—which He may do at any time—someone else will come along and they might perform better or worse,” Obasanjo stated.

The older statesman, who is 87 years old, emphasized that young, energetic, and dynamic leaders are the most effective.

“I am aware that when you are youthful, ideal, energetic, and dynamic, you perform at your best. He said, “You don’t have the best when you are kuje kuje,” or weak or sickly.

Obasanjo’s remarks were said to coincide with continuing discussions about tight-lipped politicians and constitutional manipulation to prolong presidential mandates throughout Africa.

Two students were allegedly killed during the signing-out ceremony for Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. The event apparently descended into violence.

According to reports, the purpose of the signing-out was to indicate that the students had successfully finished their final exam paper.
According to reports, the killings took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at a well-known hotel where the party was held, when competing fraternity organizations who were also celebrating got into a fight.

Members of the Black Axe Movement and Eiye, two cult organizations, were reported to have fired multiple bullets into the air during the altercation.

The incident apparently deteriorated after a rival cult member’s Mercedes Benz was hit and damaged by a gun fired into the air.

Moses Yamu, the Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, verified the event and said one person was murdered when reached.

Colleagues of the member whose car was destroyed grew furious, claiming that the shot was intentionally directed at them, according to a witness who only gave his name as Omoruwa.

He claimed that despite the other group’s insistence that there was nobody in the car, the incident resulted in a conflict between Eiye and the Black Axe Movement, or Aye.

It was also discovered that as the altercation grew more heated, one of the members’ colleagues, whose car was damaged, fatally ran over a rival cult member with a car. In the mayhem that followed, another person was apparently shot dead.

Two Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) employees were abducted in Benue State, and their captors are want N10 million from each of them in exchange for their release.

Officers David Shiaondo Iorwuese and Oliver Orasuur were apprehended a few days ago along the Katsina-Ala–Ukum Road.

The kidnappers had been in touch with the family to demand the ransom money, according to family members.

In response to the incident, the NIS called for immediate action, widespread support, and concerted attempts to guarantee the officers’ safe release, describing the kidnapping as a “critical moment for the Service.”

This most recent kidnapping is reminiscent of one that occurred in May when Simon Agbo, another Immigration official, was kidnapped by gunmen from his residence in Makurdi, the state capital.

According to a family member, the assailants abruptly showed up and shot him multiple times before removing him.

Wike: ‘Tambuwal and Atiku Are Consistent Betrayers’

Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have come under fire from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a recent interview, Tambuwal reportedly stated that he was more devoted to Atiku than to Wike, even if the two were buddies.

Tambuwal maintained that rather than friendship, governing principles informed his decisions.

“I would rather support Atiku than Nyesom Wike when it comes to leadership of this country and leadership of the people,” he stated.

In reaction, Wike said that Tambuwal and Atiku are both persistent traitors during his appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program on Thursday night.

He asserts that “there’s no way Tambuwal would go without Atiku, knowing full well their antecedents,” demonstrating his commitment to Atiku.

“This is an opportunity to talk about Aminu Tambuwal, but I have never come out on national television to do so,” he continued.

It is impossible to discuss friendship and leadership at the same time without mentioning the individual.

Atiku and Tambuwal. These are betrayers who have been continuously inconsistent. Similar birds congregate in flocks. Given their history, Tambuwal would never be able to function without Atiku.

Wike on Rivers State Emergency: ‘We Would Have Taken Action If We Opposed Lifting It’

According to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Rivers State is now completely at peace and all parties involved are prepared to cooperate.
He promised that while certain individuals who stand to gain from the turmoil that shook Rivers State are opposed to peace returning, other interested parties have decided to let peace rule the oil-rich state.

In Rivers State, Wike stated that he is totally in favor of the peace process and the full restoration of democracy. He also pointed out that he could have taken one or two actions to keep the state of emergency that President Bola Tinubu had imposed in the state in place.

Wike reportedly made the submission in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory disclosed that he had a conversation with Governor Siminalayi Fubara following President Tinubu’s lifting of the emergency rule in Rivers State, and that peace had now completely returned.

To God’s glory, we all got together and decided how to proceed, and as I talk to you, the peace has returned. Despite all odds, peace has restored as of yesterday, according to the Governor I spoke with.

“As I talk to you, I spoke with Governor (Fubara) yesterday. He informed me he was going this morning after I informed him I was leaving that evening to return.

Therefore, I may say that peace has returned by God’s mercy. And see what the Assembly did today to set the tone: you can see that we are prepared for the state’s interest and that there is peace. Now let’s proceed.

According to what I saw on TV today, some people are born crisis builders who believe that they can only get an advantage during a crisis. He stated, “We would have taken one or two actions to guarantee that this state of emergency remains in place if we don’t want it to be lifted.”

Rivers Governor Wike Speaks on His Heart Attack in London

Reports that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, had a heart attack while visiting London have been denied.
Wike stated that his primary reason for traveling overseas was to rest for the flag-off of the Arterial Road N1 project on Thursday, which will connect Wuye District to Ring Road II in Abuja.

Wike was reportedly hospitalized in London after suffering a heart attack, according to recent reports. Political circles were alarmed by the allegations because of his pivotal position in the current events in Rivers and the FCT.

However, Wike took the opportunity to reassure Abuja citizens that he will fulfill the administration’s infrastructure renovation plan.

“I have never had time to travel since I took this appointment as minister, so I said, let me go on holiday,” the former governor of Rivers State stated.

“I always bring files and CofOs when I travel, so this time I promised not to bring any files.

Because one must survive before you can satisfy everyone, let the world fall apart if it does. They have been waiting for you, you know, for this work we are performing.

“On the day you drop, they’ll announce someone else the next day, so you need to make sure you take a break and unwind while working.

“All right, let me go,” I said, and before I knew it, I had heard that they had a heart attack and were ill. They will continue to experience heart attacks thanks to God.

“I hope to sign their condolences, I pray.” I hope to write a letter soon apologizing for loving him, but encouraging him to know that God is the one who gives and God is the one who has taken.

“You can see the state of our nation; we use everything to forward our political agenda. We are all glad to read it on social media, but how can someone sit down and write all kinds of things? I don’t know if the individual saw me or if the hospital saw me.

In this nation, people post on social media that the president is a criminal and that nothing will be done about it. You are fortunate and will remain fortunate to have a president who upholds the rule of law.

In order to bolster his administration, Governor Hyacinth Alia has requested and been granted permission by the Benue State House of Assembly to name ten more Special Advisers.

Just a few days after Governor Alia announced a new group of important appointments to statutory boards and strategic offices, the new permission has allowed him to expand his team even more.

According to reports, in the next few days, the governor is anticipated to reveal the identities of the new Special Advisers.

Goodluck Jonathan Warns Against Government Interference in Judiciary, Says It Scares Investors

“Judicial independence is essential to creating a stable and reliable business environment,” he said Wednesday at the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation’s Democracy Dialogue in Accra, Ghana.

No investor, Jonathan emphasized, would put money into an economy when the judiciary is tainted and controlled by politics.

Everyone is impacted by it. No businessman, for instance, would bring his money to invest in a nation with a compromised court, where a government official might order judges to render a particular verdict. Because it is a huge risk, no individual brings his money to invest in that economy,” he remarked.

In order to ensure Nigeria’s future, Jonathan continued, its leaders must maintain justice and equity regardless of their own political or personal agendas.

“No matter how difficult it is, we must work to do what is right if we are to create a country for our children and grandchildren,” he stated.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Abia State has declared that former president Goodluck Jonathan must adhere to due process prior to running for president in 2027.

Jonathan’s right to run was acknowledged by the party, which also said that the PDP is an inclusive platform where qualified members can freely aim for any office in line with party policies and the Nigerian Constitution.

The party’s Abia State chairman, Abraham Amah, told Punch on Tuesday that a free and fair election would be used to choose the party’s presidential candidate.

But according to him, Jonathan has not yet properly presented his manifesto to the party.

“The People’s Democratic Party’s Abia State Chapter has been interested in rumors and questions about whether former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan would be interested in running for our great party’s presidential ticket in the upcoming general elections,” he stated. Jonathan is entitled to argue.

It will be decided by a free, fair, transparent, and democratic presidential convention of the People’s Democratic Party. Personal inclinations, wishful thinking, or one-sided support from any one party member, organization, or structure are not the issue.

Being a renowned party leader and former president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is entitled under the constitution to run for the party’s ticket if he so chooses.

“The PDP continues to be an inclusive and open platform where all eligible members are free to pursue any office in compliance with the Nigerian Constitution and party guidelines.”

Additionally, he stated, “We are aware that some influential interest groups within the PDP strongly believe that Dr. Jonathan is eminently qualified to give the party a strong and competitive representation at the national level.”

Amah stated that while these viewpoints are taken into consideration, the convention’s delegates have the final say.

Engagements with the Abia PDP are still open. Former President Jonathan has not yet formally presented his vision, agenda, or policy direction to the Abia PDP. However, we think there is still time for him or any other candidate to get in touch with our chapter and ask for help.

We invite all candidates to apply. The Abia PDP stays impartial until all candidates have had a chance to present their plans and the convention makes a decision. We invite all prospective presidential candidates to formally introduce themselves, their platforms, and their plans for Nigeria.

Within the Abia PDP, as well as throughout the nation, the party is closely observing political developments. In accordance with our members’ and stakeholders’ interests, we will formally announce our stance when the time is right,” Amah stated.

Textile Union Workers in Edo NLC Slam Indefinite Suspension on Executives

0

After its state chairman resigned from the state NLC Caretaker Committee, which is chaired by Prof. Lewis Monday Igbafen, the Edo State chapter of the National Union of Textile and Garment Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), led by Comrade Ochei Mike Onyebuchi, has been placed on indefinite leave.

After the zonal exco meeting in Benin City, the Union’s Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Emeka Nkwoala, informed reporters of the suspension and said the Oche-led exco was fired for defaming the union.

After the former exco was dissolved due to various reasons, Comrade Nkwoala remembered that Comrade Joe Ajaero, the national president of the NLC, had sought NUTGTWN to propose a member to join the caretaker committee, which was led by Prof. Monday Igbafen and was tasked with guiding the union’s operations.

Comrade Oche, who was properly consulted prior to nomination, joyfully accepted membership in the five-member committee and was sworn in, according to the deputy general secretary. The union was, however, mortified when word leaked out last weekend about Ochei’s abrupt resignation.

He stated: “On Monday, September 15, 2025, we learned of his resignation through social media, claiming that he was forced to accept the offer. He resigned without notifying the union. Given that he was contacted and advised on the extent of the task prior to his candidacy, which he voluntarily accepted, he should have informed the union of his desire to quit.

He claimed that the national organization of NUTGTWN, the affiliate union of former NLC president Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who was a staunch unionist in his prime, believed Comrade Ochei brought the union into disrepute because, despite being duly consulted and agreeing to serve on the committee before its inauguration, he brought it into disrepute.

He said, “The Edo State members of NUTGTWN pleaded during the meeting that they will write an apology letter to the national body and beg not to be dissolved but instead accepted to be suspended till further notice.”

According to Comrade Nkwoala, the suspended state chairman acknowledged that he resigned from the committee because of pressure and a strong conviction that the committee was hostile to the Edo State Government, but he denied giving an interview to any media outlet during the meeting.

Using the media, he argued that Ochei and his exco’s actions had repercussions because they obtained his consent before to his nomination but neglected to contact the union before his resignation.

“He [Comrade Ochei] has brought the union to disrepute,” Comrade Nkwoala underlined. During its Zoom meeting on Monday, September 15, 2025, the National Administrative Council decided to abolish the union’s Edo State branch.

As of right now, our union in Edo has suspended the state executive led by Ochei Mike Onyebuchi till further notice. Together with the other state chairmen of our zone in Benin City, we came to that conclusion.

This conclusion coincides with the union’s national Administrative Council’s resolution. They are therefore unable to represent the union in Edo or Nigeria in any manner.
