2027 Elections: PDP Dissolves Cross River Congress, Installs Caretaker Leadership

0

The establishment of a Caretaker Committee to manage the party’s operations in the state has been approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has declared the Cross River State Congress invalid.

This was said in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday by Debo Ologunagba, the party’s national publicity secretary.

According to Ologunagba, the decision was made in accordance with the party’s 2017 amendments to the constitution.

He claims that even though the PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, wrote a separate letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission on September 25 informing them of the postponement of the congresses in Cross River, Plateau, and Kebbi States, National Chairman Umar Damagum said that the Cross River congress would go ahead as scheduled on September 27.

Ologunagba explained that although some people gathered in Calabar on Saturday, the state did not have a congress.

As the State Executive Committee of the Cross River State Chapter was elected four years ago, its term ended, and the NWC took the step of forming a Caretaker Committee in the state, the party’s spokesman noted.

As of Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, the Caretaker Committee will oversee the Party’s operations in Cross River State for a maximum of three months, or until a new State Executive Committee is chosen in the state.

Bassey Joseph (Acting Secretary) and Bassey Eko Ewa (Chairman) are the members of the Cross River State PDP Caretaker Committee. Other members include Godswill Obindim, Edem Ekong, Raymond Abo, Moses Bisuakefe, Agabi Dominic Oko, Walter Nandi Esom, Ekpo Asuquo, Ankot Cohbom, Ofana Raphael Odo, Lynne Bassey, Etim Okon, Agabi Dominic Oko, Victor Erig Takon, and Udie Mike.

In order to advance the Party, the NWC calls on all leaders, important stakeholders, and hordes of members in Cross River State to stay together and keep cooperating, the statement read.

Court Hands Death Sentence to Former Minister for Corruption

0

Tang Renjian, the former agricultural minister of China, was convicted of bribery and corruption and given a two-year reprieve before being executed.
The People’s Court of Changchun in Jilin Province reportedly handed down the decision on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The court claimed that between 2007 and 2024, Tang, the former governor of Gansu, took cash and property bribes totaling over $38 million.

According to the ruling, Tang’s conduct seriously harmed both the people and the state.

He apologized, acknowledged the crime, and gave back a portion of the illicit gains.

The court suspended his execution for two years as a result of his actions, in accordance with the capital sentence rules of China’s criminal code.

If the 63-year-old politician behaves well during the respite time, his punishment under the suspended sentence arrangement could be changed to either a fixed jail term or life in prison.

As part of President Xi Jinping’s anti-corruption campaign, which continues to target public officials nationwide who are suspected of wrongdoing, Tang’s conviction joins an increasing number of high-ranking officials who have been penalized.

Chaos as LP Factional Chairman, Julius Abure, Attacked in Benin Airport

0

After Julius Abure, the LP’s factional national chairman, was physically assaulted at the Benin Airport in Edo State on Friday, the party’s conflict took a violent turn.
Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Abure-led group, said in a statement that the event happened when Abure was being harassed by a woman who went by the name of Precious Oruche, also called Mama P, as she boarded a Max Air aircraft from Abuja to Benin.

Ifoh reportedly said that Oruche challenged Abure in the boarding line at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, which is where the altercation started.

Ifoh claimed that even after flight attendants intervened to calm her down, she persisted in the attack during the journey.

After arriving at Benin Airport, the scene apparently intensified as Oruche allegedly tried to lunge at Abure once more before being escorted away by security personnel and turned over to the police.

According to the LP spokesperson, Oruche, who is a content producer and a member of a “known political family,” also boasted in one of her online videos that she was untouchable because of her contacts in the police hierarchy.

“You have killed Labour Party and you are the reason why Obi is no longer in the Labour Party,” she allegedly said, vowing to keep attacking Abure and other party officials, according to Ifoh.

Described as a “suicidal aggression” against the party’s leadership, Ifoh condemned the act.

He went on to say, “The Labour Party’s leadership is really disturbed by this cyberbullying and the effects this political agent’s actions have had on the party. We are urging the Inspector General of Police to look into this attack on the Labour Party leadership, and specifically on Barrister Julius Abure, in detail.

He emphasized that the attack was an intentional attempt by anti-democratic forces to undermine the party and asked members to maintain composure while the authorities dealt with the situation.

Dangote Refinery Faces Crude, Gas Supply Halt as PENGASSAN Orders Shutdown

0

Following the dismissal of more than 800 employees who joined the union, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members to immediately stop supplying gas and crude oil to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Lumumba Okugbawa, the union’s general secretary, signed a directive on Saturday stating that the refinery’s “illegitimate and provocative action” against its members prompted the shutdown.

Addressed to branch chairmen nationwide, the letter urged members to take firm action against the facility that produces 650,000 barrels per day.

“As you are aware, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery management has disengaged our members in response to the exercise of their constitutional right to be unionized,” the union said.

Instead of interacting with us in a meaningful way to make amends, they have gone farther on a mission of disinformation and propaganda to defend this illegitimacy.

As a result of these, you are instructed to immediately turn off NGIC’s gas supply. All of the refinery’s crude oil supply valves ought to be closed. The loading process for the ship that is going there needs to end right away.

The Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) branch was particularly instructed by Okugbawa to make sure that the refinery’s gas supply was immediately cut off, and all branch chairmen were instructed to report compliance progress as soon as possible.

“Injury to one, injury to all,” the letter continued.

Less than twenty-four hours have passed since Dangote Refinery acknowledged that it had fired a few employees for alleged sabotage, but denied that the action was related to unionization.

However, PENGASSAN maintains that more than 800 Nigerian workers were singled out soon after they willingly joined the organization, accusing management of unfair labor practices and union-busting.

APC Threatens Disciplinary Action Over Internal Rift in Jigawa Ahead of 2027

0

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Jigawa State branch has threatened to punish any member who is found to be disrespecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi or compromising party unity.

Alhaji Nasiru Dahiru Jahun, the State Deputy Chairman, revealed this while leading a state delegation that included the State Executive Committee members and party chairmen from all 27 local government districts as a sign of allegiance to the governor.

Speaking at the Government House, Alhaji Jahun stated that they were there to reaffirm their allegiance to Governor Namadi, who he described as the APC’s acknowledged leader in Jigawa State.

He said that Governor Namadi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continue to have the support of the state’s party leadership, which supports them both for a second term in 2027.

The Governor Namadi administration was also praised by the party leaders for what they called “wonderful transformation and unprecedented achievements within just two years,” characterizing them as landmark in Jigawa’s development.

Jahun further warned that any member whose acts betray unity or disrespect the state leadership would be sanctioned by the party without hesitation.

“Our devotion to the governor is similar to that of the humorous figure ‘Maha’ to his teacher; we will do anything Malam says and follow him wherever he leads us,” he remarked.

In response, Governor Namadi informed the APC leadership that his administration would continue to work with the party and thanked them for their solidarity.

In his interactions with party members throughout the state, he reaffirmed his dedication to equity.

The governor added that the APC’s state and federal governments are committed to implementing developmental projects and people-oriented policies.

But the long-simmering conflict within the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Jigawa State has recently taken a new turn as factions loyal to incumbent Governor Umar Namadi and former Governor and Minister of Defense Muhammad Badaru Abubakar have publicly clashed, with their supporters exchanging harsh words in recent days.

The state’s ruling party’s unity is in jeopardy as the dispute, which had been subtly growing since the change of power in 2023, is now unfolding into a public altercation.

If the problem is not handled wisely, some think it may make the APC less dominant in Jigawa before the 2027 elections.

Governor Namadi and former Governor Badaru, however, have not directly addressed the matter in a statement.

My People Are Living in Perpetual Fear – Senator Ndume Raises Alarm

0

To protect Kirawa and other nearby areas that border the Cameroun Republic and the Gwoza local government area, Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has urged military officials to send troops.
Following Friday’s Boko Haram attack along the Kirawa-Pulka route at approximately 3 p.m., which resulted in the death of one Civilian Joint Task Force (Name withheld) and numerous injuries to drivers and passengers, he made this plea.

In response to the event that occurred in his district, Ndume bemoaned the lack of a military presence in Kirawa on Saturday morning. He also mentioned that the few tenacious hunters, vigilantes, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force are always overburdened with the task of protecting the area.

“It was very discouraging to hear that some armed Boko Haram terrorists ambushed drivers and passengers along Kirawa-Pulka road yesterday,” he said. A few members of the Civilian Joint Task Force escorted the victims because there was no military escort available because Camerounian forces stationed in Kirawa were dislodged last month.

Many people are still missing as I write this, and regrettably, one of our Brave Civilian Joint Task Force members was murdered during the gunfight in the ambush. The incident resulted in the burning of at least six vehicles, including three lorries, a bus, and two Golf Volkswagen Saloons.

The families of the fallen Civilian Joint Task Force members have my condolences. As we offer prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and the safety of the unaccounted-for, may his soul rest in peace.

“Let me also urge the military authorities to send troops, even if it is just a platoon, to protect Kirawa and its citizens, as my people are now constantly afraid after Camerounian troops based there were driven out last month.”

I Was Just Playing Around, I Can’t Sleep With 100 Men in 24 Hours – Mandy Kiss Backtracks

0

In a video posted to her Instagram page, the outspoken personality reportedly claimed that the revelation was merely a ploy to resurrect her online reputation.

She clarified that she had the idea because she wanted to draw more attention to her idle social media profile and increase participation.

She claims that the action was not intended to carry out the contentious act but rather to attract followers and possible sponsors in order to generate revenue.

Mandy Kiss stated that she is incapable of carrying out such an act and that she never intended to complete the challenge.

In addition, she warned Nigerians not to take the statement too seriously, citing her lack of resources and legal counsel as well as her fear of legal issues.

She stated: “Me Oh, I was kidding! Get arrested, huh? What’s in my account? I can’t afford a lawyer, sef. I’m not even able to write a statement. Me. I had recently gotten a cruise. I simply wanted to see if I was still relevant. I decided to see if I could get some engagement on my page so I could get some advertisements to complete and earn some money because everything on it was dry. I can’t sleep with a hundred men. Oh, please, Nigerians. Prison is the last thing I want! I’m going to die if I sleep with 100 guys! Oh, please!

“Shame on All of You” – Israel’s Netanyahu Attacks UNGA Leaders on Palestine Issue

0

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) was filled with jeers on Friday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized nations that had just voted to recognize Palestine as a state.
During his speech, Netanyahu reportedly denounced nations that have chosen to accept Palestinian independence, calling their actions “shameful, sheer madness, and insane.”

Such measures, he contended, would only give terrorism more confidence worldwide.

However, his remarks caused some audience members to disagree, leading to a walkout by several of the delegates. The protest went on until a UN representative had to request silence before the Israeli prime minister could continue.

According to Netanyahu, acknowledging Palestinian statehood would be equivalent to supporting terrorism against Jews and innocent people everywhere.

After Hamas’ October 7 attack, Netanyahu likened the quest for Palestinian statehood to the offer made to al Qaeda for a state close to New York City following the September 11 attacks.

Israel would not permit countries to “shove a terror state” down their throats, Netanyahu declared.

“Terrorism against Jews and innocent people worldwide will be encouraged by your shameful choice. It will be a disgrace to all of you.

Intolerant zealots who carried out and encouraged the Sabbath massacre are receiving the ultimate reward as a result of your actions.

“It would be equivalent to giving al Qaeda a state one mile from New York City after September 11 if the Palestinians were granted a state one mile from Jerusalem after October 7.”

Because you lack the will to confront hostile media and antisemitic mobs calling for Israel’s blood, he declared, “We will not commit national suicide.”

World leaders are being influenced by “biased media, radical Islamist constituencies, and anti-Semitic mobs,” the Israeli prime minister continued, denouncing the war in Gaza.

‘Alia Can’t Stooping Low to Abduct Someone’ – Benue Gov’s Spokesperson Responds to VDM

0

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Principal Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilization, Atu Terver, has responded to a claim made against him by social media activist and critic Martin Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, VDM.

A car dealer allegedly vanished following a N1.2 billion transaction with the Benue Government, according to a video that VDM shared on his Facebook page on Friday.

The critic claims that the Benue government failed to pay the suspected missing dealer N1.2 billion for nine automobiles.

“To the executive governor of Benue State, the car dealer for whom your government owes 1.2 billion naira for nine vehicles that your government seized appears to have vanished.”

He informed me during our most recent conversation that he had been summoned to a meeting in an Abuja hotel by one of your cabinet members.

“Please release him if you are holding him, Rev. Fr. Alia. On his Facebook site, VDM posted a video that went viral with the question, “What is his crime?”

The governor cannot “stoop as low as abducting someone,” according to Atu, also known as Krayzeetee, who refuted the abduction implication in a comment beneath the article.

Many people won’t agree with me because, as he remarked, “a lot of things here don’t actually add up but it’s dragging a governor.”

“You mentioned that he was called by a cabinet member, but who is that cabinet member? And what about the number he called?

You mentioned the previous day that other government officials were urging him to make a payment without naming anyone.

You should learn a lot from Ahmed Isah of the Berekete family, in my opinion. He would have tried to get in touch with the governor if this situation had been brought to his attention, but he didn’t. You’ll be fine as long as it generates traffic and a lot of comments criticizing the governor.

“As a devout man, Governor Alia is incapable of descending to the level of kidnapping someone. Always get in touch with both parties before taking action in the pursuit of justice.

Just let me give you some advice. If you have followers, you are not God.
