On Thursday, Festus Keyamo SAN, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, welcomed His Excellency Mehmet Poroy, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nigeria, into the Minister’s office in Abuja. Poroy was joined by a high-level team on an official courtesy visit.
Mr. Akin Carkci, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Abuja, Mr. Muzaffer Hakan Tok, Head of Political Office, and Mr. Amadou Ndongo Thiam, Country Manager of ASELSAN Nigeria, were among the Turkish delegation.
Tunde Moshood, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s Special Advisor on Media and Communications, signed the statement that included these points.

at his speech, newly appointed Ambassador Poroy conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Honourable Minister for his steadfast support of Turkish Airlines in Nigeria, especially at the time of labor unrest involving some fired employees. In tackling delicate aviation issues, the ambassador praised the Minister’s professionalism, equity, and liberal approach, which he claimed shows Nigeria’s dedication to promoting international collaboration and respect for one another.
After a successful celebration of the Republic of Turkey’s 102nd anniversary, Ambassador Poroy stated that this visit is his first official engagement since returning to Nigeria. He reiterated his nation’s pleasure in its long-standing alliance with Nigeria, saying that Turkey is still dedicated to enhancing commercial and diplomatic relations, especially in the fields of technology and aviation.

In order to encourage commerce, investment, and people-to-people interaction between the two countries, the Ambassador emphasized recent initiatives started by the Turkish Embassy, such as the quick and easy issuing of tourist and business visas for Nigerians.
Speaking on air connectivity, Ambassador Poroy revealed that Turkish Airlines presently operates 12 weekly flights to Nigeria, including 7 to Lagos and 5 to Abuja. He asked the Minister to support an increase in frequency in order to accommodate the growing demand from passengers.
Additionally, he presented ASELSAN, a prominent Turkish defense and technology firm acknowledged as Europe’s radar center of excellence. ASELSAN offers both Early Warning Radar Systems (EWRS) and Air Surveillance Radar (AIR) solutions intended to provide complete coverage of national airspace, as well as high-tech radar systems that satisfy NATO and MIL-STD specifications. He clarified that the technologies can be used for both military and civilian purposes and that satellite communications infrastructure allows for remote operation.
In order to conduct an on-site inspection of ASELSAN’s radar facilities, Ambassador Poroy invited the Honourable Minister to visit Turkey in January 2026. During the visit, the Minister would have the chance to meet with his Turkish counterpart in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in aviation and aerospace technology.
In response, he expressed gratitude to Turkey for its ongoing cooperation and investment in Nigeria’s aviation industry while extending a cordial welcome to the Turkish ambassador and his team. He praised Turkish Airlines for upholding excellent operating standards and reassured the envoy that the Ministry was prepared to back the airline’s request for more frequent flights.
In addition, the Minister accepted the invitation to travel to Turkey in January 2026, highlighting the significance of technological cooperation in radar development and airspace surveillance as Nigeria pushes its program for aviation modernization.
He expressed hope that the revived alliance with Turkey will lead to new opportunities for collaboration, improve air connectivity, and make a substantial contribution to both economic growth and national security.

Eze Cautions Tinubu, Advises Against Treating Trump’s Threat Lightly

0

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), has called on President Bola Tinubu to act decisively to combat banditry and terrorism in the nation.

Eze was responding to President Donald Trump of the United States’ classification of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

In a statement, Eze advised Tinubu to exercise prudence and refrain from joining Trump’s problems, noting that the US is aware of what is happening in Nigeria.

“This is not a statement we should take for granted unless we are claiming ignorance of the consequences we may face as a country should Trump walk out his threat,” Eze stated.

“President Tinubu and his errand boys should approach Trump’s statement with all the gravity it merits, rather than viewing it as a gutter statement.

Given that Nigeria’s democracy has flourished for more than 26 years without interruption, Trump’s advice to Tinubu to “stop the killings of Christians in your country now or we will come in and do it for you” indicates that the US government has the interests of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart.

For heaven’s sake, how could a sensible person attempt to politicize an innocuous suggestion or perceive Trump’s remarks as divisive, careless, or anti-Islamic?

“These bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, and others are our mutual foes. They are engaging in a variety of covert and horrible crimes against humanity, including killing, maiming, and damaging properties, farmlands, and cattle.

“Therefore, I urge the Tinubu administration to look inward with a view to adhering to Trump’s statement, rather than unleash his attack dogs, fifth columnists, paper tigers, and propagandists on Trump.”

Despite growing international worries over reported Christian killings in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu said on Friday that Nigeria would not be frightened by outside pressure.

Days after US President Donald Trump warned potential military action over what he called “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, Tinubu announced his stance in a message posted on his verified 𝕏 account.

According to reports, Tinubu declared that Nigeria would not be intimidated or driven into fear and that the nation would continue to interact with the world community with confidence.

On Wednesday, President Trump asserted that Christians in Nigeria were under existential threat and threatened to step in if the Nigerian government did not take action.

He insisted that Washington would “completely wipe out” Islamic terrorists responsible for the claimed killings and said he had instructed the US Department of War to prepare alternatives for airstrikes or forces on the ground.

Nigeria was previously categorized by Trump as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to claims of widespread persecution.

Check out the statement’s complete content below:

“We confront obstacles head-on and are unwavering in our will to interact with allies and advance Nigeria’s interests diplomatically. With steadfast composure, clarity, and a clear sense of purpose, we are boldly establishing our position on the international scene.

“We will not back down in the face of terrorism, a problem Nigeria has fought for nearly 20 years. We shall triumph over terrorism and declare victory in this conflict. We shall never compromise on the non-negotiable principle of security. We will win if we have unflinching bravery and a strong dedication to the rule of law.

“Nigeria is one cohesive family.” Together, we rise, advance, and choose resolve over hopelessness. Our worries are little compared to the strength and resilience of our future.

“We have an enormous task ahead of us, but we are even more determined. In order to create a thriving and inclusive Nigeria, we will keep building on the progress we have made in reform.

“We are determined to eradicate criminals from our society, and we will do all in our power to do so. As we step up our efforts to combat terrorism, we implore our partners to stand with us. We’ve come a long way in the last two years, and we’re going to completely eradicate this menace.

“We will prevail with bravery and the rule of law.”

“Nigeria will continue to be a steadfast advocate for stability and a trustworthy ally and partner to its friends. As we bolster economic growth and security, we also welcome the cooperation and support of our friends, partners, and allies.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to the courageous men and women of our armed forces and intelligence community who serve boldly, battle alongside one another, and occasionally pay the ultimate price, regardless of tribe or religion. Our strength in the battle against terrorism is your dedication.

Lagos Lawmaker Defends Tinubu, Says Trump’s Threats Against Nigeria Are Misguided

0

Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a politician from Lagos, has criticized US President Donald Trump’s new strong stance against Nigeria, arguing that the Bola Tinubu administration should receive praise, support, and international cooperation rather than threats.

In reaction to Trump’s condemnation and warning of potential U.S. military intervention over claimed persecution of Christians in Nigeria, Adedeji, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, made this statement accessible on Friday, November 7.

The legislator contended that President Tinubu has taken strong action to address the nation’s security issues and has a thorough understanding of them.

“President Bola Tinubu, as a father, is not happy that bandits, terrorists, or whatever name they have, have tried to downplay the gains of this administration,” he said. For this reason, he gave the recently constituted service chiefs instructions to put an end to the nation’s insecurity. The current government will never give in to terrorists or those who support them.

He insisted that the President’s recent changes to the military leadership demonstrate his dedication to stabilizing the country and reestablishing security in unstable areas.

According to Adedeji, Nigeria has made significant economic development in the past two years, drawing recognition and investment from around the world.

“Different data have shown inflation dropping for the first time in years,” he continued, citing macroeconomic factors that point to a recovery. The administration has revitalized stagnant industries and drawn multibillion-dollar investments. Economic indicators keep demonstrating that the government is headed in the right direction.

The legislator also pointed out that subnational governments now have more budgetary ability and the value of the naira has improved.

He stated, “State governments are at ease for the first time because they now have a level of economic power.”

Adedeji urged the US to work with Nigeria instead of escalating hostilities.

“Global cooperation from the United States and other countries in the interest of our people is what Nigeria deserves right now. The congressman emphasized, “Let our youth and citizens continue to be patient and trust in the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

In an effort to combat terrorism, Adedeji urged Nigerians to keep backing the military and security services.

“We need to motivate our new service chiefs to meet expectations and make sure they put an end to the country’s insurgents.” Knowing that the outcome would best suit our desires, let’s support the government’s enormous efforts,” he continued.

Party Stands Firm: PDP to Hold National Convention in Ibadan November 15–16

0

A portion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that the party’s National Convention, scheduled on November 15–16, will proceed as scheduled.

The stance was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday through the party’s official 𝕏 account.

The PDP is prepared to nominate a new National Working Committee (NWC) and finalize its strategies in front of Nigeria’s pivotal general elections in 2027, the statement continued.

In the 2027 elections, the party promised to run against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and seize power democratically.

Eight days remain until the historic Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Elective Convention on November 15–16, 2025. As Nigeria’s leading opposition force prepares for a victorious comeback in 2027, the party is working nonstop to elect a dynamic new National Working Committee (NWC) and strengthen its unbreakable unity.

Over 3,000 delegates from Nigeria’s 36 states as well as the Federal Capital Territory will attend the historic #Ibadan2025 event, which will take place at the completely renovated Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The statement stated, “This two-day spectacle is more than a leadership transition—it’s a bold declaration of renewal, reconciliation, and resilience, positioning the PDP to dismantle the All Progressives Congress (APC) grip on power and restore hope to millions of Nigerians weary of economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failures.”

On the basis of a ruling by Justice A. L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, the PDP declared that it would proceed with the convention despite the party’s splits and ongoing crises.

Recall that just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the convention to be put on hold, the court had authorized the convention to proceed.

“On November 4, 2025, the Oyo State High Court, led by Justice A. L. Akintola, issued a resounding interim order that cleared the way for the convention and required the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to oversee the proceedings in accordance with all applicable electoral laws.”

This crucial decision quickly overturned previous attempts to sabotage the event, upholding the PDP’s internal democracy and constitutional rights.

“The National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, has confirmed smooth preparations: aspirant screenings are finished, delegate accreditation is moving forward, and logistics—including improved security, cutting-edge facilities, and virtual streaming for nationwide engagement—are locked in,” the PDP continued.

Wike’s Camp Dissolves Wabara-Led PDP BoT Amid Deepening Party Crisis

0

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) internal strife took a sharp turn on Friday when the group supporting Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike declared the dissolution of the party’s Board of Trustees, which was headed by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara.

According to reports, the statement was made during a meeting in Wike’s Life Camp residence in Abuja, when Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammad, the factional Acting National Chairman, established a new BoT.

Muhammad stated that the dissolution was required to restore the party’s moral direction and constitutional order before the gathering entered a closed session.

He insisted that Wabara’s continuing leadership was “untenable” due to his reported suspension by the Abia State PDP for anti-party activities, accusing the Wabara-led BoT of losing the “moral balance expected of that noble institution.”

“The Board, which was supposed to serve as our party’s moral compass, became ineffectual and divided. He remarked, “That leadership’s credibility was seriously called into question, and it became impossible to maintain its role in national advisory matters.”

At the conclusion of the conference, the newly reorganized BoT is anticipated to be announced.

Additionally, Muhammad accused Ambassador Umar Damagum, the suspended National Chairman, of undermining internal discipline.

He claimed that Damagum chose “convenience over the rule of law” by shielding people who flagrantly disregarded the party’s constitution.

“Any political party loses the very soul that keeps it together when it starts to disrespect its own laws and constitution. “This was the terrible reality we had to deal with,” he said.

He said that the recent Federal High Court decision had made it possible for the party to reorganize the BoT and commended three party members who sought judicial intervention to “save the PDP from itself.”

“The court ruling was a reminder that no institution is greater than the law; it was not an attack on the PDP,” he declared.

“The New BoT Signifies Rebirth” Wike’s Camp Muhammad called the recently formed board a “symbol of rebirth,” claiming that its members were selected on the basis of honesty, justice, and dedication to party principles rather than allegiance to a particular group.

“This is a sacred trust; it is not a reward for loyalty,” he continued. Your actions must instill faith in our shared future, your voices must be unified, and your counsel must be grounded in justice.

He claimed that the party’s downfall started when it abandoned its zoning concept in advance of the 2015 elections, putting self-interest ahead of justice.

In an effort to regain public trust, the factional chairman pledged that the PDP will now place a higher priority on openness, judicial compliance, and internal democracy.

“We will rebuild this party with transparency,” Muhammad stated. We shall uphold the rule of law and court rulings. Our congresses shall be held fairly and honorably. We shall rebuild public confidence and restore the PDP to its position as Nigeria’s moral voice.

Muhammad emphasized that the days of using “internal affairs” to cover up impunity were over.

“Internal affairs must continue to operate under constitutional order,” he declared. Party autonomy does not equate to lawlessness. We have to change or risk becoming irrelevant.

Muhammad called for reform and unity, urging party members to take advantage of the opportunity to bring the PDP back to life.

“Let history record that men and women of goodwill rose to pull the PDP back when it stood at the edge of the precipice,” he continued. By working together, we can mend our party and make the PDP the real prospect for Nigeria’s democratic future.

Abia Governor Alex Otti Raises Corps Members’ Allowance to N50,000 per Month

0

A comprehensive upward revision of monthly allowances for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state has been authorized by Abia State Governor Alex Otti, raising the payment from ₦4,000 to ₦50,000.

According to reports, his Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha, made the announcement on Friday, November 7.

According to Ukoha, the increase is the first significant change in 27 years and fits with Governor Otti’s larger plan to boost youth empowerment and enhance Abia’s public sector capability.

The statement states that a base monthly allowance of ₦20,000 will henceforth be given to all corps members working in Abia.

Apart from this base salary:

Corps members assigned to state government facilities would receive an additional ₦10,000.
Members of the teaching and medical corps would get an extra ₦30,000, making their total monthly allowance ₦50,000.
According to the announcement, “all corps members serving in Abia State will now earn a base monthly allowance of ₦20,000 in addition to the Federal Government’s increased monthly NYSC allowance of ₦77,000.”

The discriminatory payments were implemented “to motivate interested corps members, thereby bridging the human capacity gap created by decades of neglect and attrition in both sectors,” the statement continued.

Ukoha clarified that the increase shows Otti’s dedication to workforce development and compliments the Federal Government’s new ₦77,000 allowance.

“This represents the first significant change in 27 years, demonstrating Governor Otti’s dedication to workforce development and youth empowerment in Abia,” he stated.

Citing several advancements at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Bende Local Government Area, the CPS claims that the state government has continuously assisted corps members. Despite being a federal facility, the statement noted a number of initiatives at the NYSC camp.

Among them are:

Renovation of campgrounds and hostels
Enhancement of internal roads
Power infrastructure installation
Providing necessary facilities to improve camp operations
According to Ukoha, “the governor believes that every institution or infrastructure within Abia, whether federal or state-owned, deserves attention because it is Abians who benefit most.”

Additionally, the CPS highlighted that Governor Otti recently expanded the Consolidated Health Salary Structure to local government employees, bringing their pay into line with federal requirements.

He went on to say that the health and education sectors, which are referred to as “pillars of institutional capacity and human capital development,” presently get roughly 35% of the state’s budget.

According to Ukoha, the changes are intended to make national service more fulfilling and motivate young professionals to support Abia’s development.

The statement went on, “Governor Otti’s most recent action sends a clear message: Abia State is serious about empowering youth, rewarding excellence, and building a future where service is truly valued.”

According to reports, Abia is currently among the states that provide corps members with the largest monthly stipends as a result of the rise.

This news site remembers that Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri recently declared his administration’s dedication to the welfare of corps members by raising their monthly payment from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.

“As a government, we are dedicated to enhancing corps members’ well-being. This increase is consistent with our pledge to establish a welcoming and encouraging environment for you,” Fintiri stated at the time.

However, the state now ranks close to the top of the country in terms of benefit packages for corps members because to Abia’s new allowance.

Nnamdi Kanu Finally Submits Defence As Court Moves Registry To Courtroom

0

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), followed the Federal High Court of Abuja’s order on Friday to submit his defense in the terrorist charges the Federal Government had brought against him.

After Kanu claimed that he was not being given the chance to properly file his documents, Justice James Omotosho ordered the temporary relocation of the court’s registry inside his courtroom.

Kanu started filing his defense procedures in the courtroom after receiving the order.

Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), the prosecuting attorney, informed the court that he was prepared to accept the documents in person in the courtroom and reply as needed.

The court put the case on hold for an hour because the defense documents were still being submitted at the time this report was filed.

The IPOB leader insisted that the Federal Government provide him the precise terrorist statute he allegedly violated before he could begin his defense till Friday.

It was previously stated that Kanu’s family claimed that Department of State Services (DSS) employees were purposefully impeding his attempts to be ready for his Friday terrorism trial.

The family cautioned in a statement signed by Prince Emmanuel Kanu on Thursday that the IPOB leader might not be able to attend in court because of what they called a systematic denial of his constitutional rights.

The DSS was accused by the family of preventing Kanu from seeing his attorneys, relatives, and important witnesses who were essential to his defense.

“The DSS has made it almost impossible for Mazi Kanu to have proper access to his lawyers, family members, and key witnesses,” they claim.

President Tinubu Okays New Federal University Of Science, Technology In Epe

The Federal University of Science and Technology, located in Epe, Lagos State, has been approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ending a seven-year ban on the formation of new postsecondary institutions.

During Thursday’s plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio publicly declared the approval, confirming that the President had signed the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe (Establishment) Bill, 2025 into law.

“I am pleased to declare that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe (Establishment) Bill, 2025,” Akpabio said.

He claimed that the President had already received the authenticated version of the bill from the Senate and returned two certified copies with his signature, completing the legal procedure for the founding of the institution.

Akpabio congratulated the residents of Epe and Lagos State on the advancement, saying, “By this assent, the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe has officially come to stay.”

Additionally, he commended the President for his ongoing investments in the field of education, characterizing the move as an example of his “commitment to expanding access to quality, specialized higher education across the country.”

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, the bill’s author, clarified that the new organization would concentrate on scientific and technological fields essential to the advancement of the country. These include computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, mechanical, electrical, computer, and civil engineering—all of which are essential to Nigeria’s digital transformation and knowledge economy.

However, the permission came only a few months after President Tinubu’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved a seven-year moratorium on the creation of new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in August.

Israel Condemns Ongoing Killings In Nigeria, Calls For Peace

0

Michael Freeman, the Israeli ambassador to Nigeria, has denounced the country’s ongoing killings, emphasizing that attacks on the Muslim and Christian communities have left “wounds that must be healed” in order for the nation to achieve lasting peace.

According to reports, Freeman made this statement on Thursday in Abuja during a session titled “Co-existence and Dialogue among Abrahamic Faiths,” emphasizing that peace must be established locally rather than solely through diplomatic or governmental means.

Nigeria has seen terrible hardships, such as assaults on the Muslim and Christian populations. Every tragedy leaves wounds that need to be healed, he stated.

“Peace starts in neighborhoods, schools, places of worship, and our hearts; it doesn’t start in government buildings or international gatherings.”

As the only viable route to harmony and stability in heterogeneous cultures, Freeman clarified that true coexistence involves empathy, communication, and respect for one another.

“Co-existence signifies the presence of respect, empathy, and shared purpose; it cannot be mistaken for the mere absence of conflict,” he stated.

“It is about recognizing that diversity can be a source of strength, choosing dialogue over hatred, and building bridges rather than walls.”

The event, according to the ambassador, could not have come at a better moment, given that profound divisions and animosity are currently plaguing many regions of the world.

Freeman went on to say that Israel is a nation where interfaith harmony is not viewed as a goal but rather as a way of life.

“Jews, Muslims, and Christians live, work, and study side by side every day,” he stated.

“Doctors treat every patient equally in our hospitals; students from all backgrounds learn together in our universities; and voices from every community help shape the future of our country in our parliament.”

He continued by saying that although Israel’s concept of coexistence is flawed, it is genuine and valued. He expressed optimism that the Abraham Accords would be expanded to include additional countries in the “circle of peace and prosperity.”

Freeman also emphasized the necessity of deepening ties between Israel and Nigeria, especially in the fields of innovation, agriculture, education, and security, emphasizing that the alliance must be based on respect and common principles.

Rabbi Israel Uzan, Archbishop Peter Ogunmuyiwa, Imam Kabir Muhammad, Rabbi Menachem Chitrik, Dr. Duke Akamisoko, and Imam Muhammad Ashafa were among the Islamic, Christian, and Jewish dignitaries reportedly present at the occasion.

Together, the leaders urged young involvement, revitalized grassroots leadership, and a common interfaith vision that fosters harmony and understanding across Nigeria’s many groups.
