Actress Regina Daniels Threatens to Storm Abuja as Parents Reunite Over Brother’s Detention

0

Regina Daniels, a Nollywood actress, has verified that her parents had gotten back together to get their son Sammy West out of jail.

According to reports, her father, Jude Ojeogwu, has remained silent about her daughter’s marital crisis with Senator Ned Nwoko, but her mother, actress Rita Daniels, has been outspoken since it began.

Regina, however, stated in a Facebook post on Thursday that her parents, who split up years ago, have reconciled with “no negative ulterior motive other than their daughter’s happiness.”

The actress added that her brother is still in custody after being detained recently due to his apparent involvement in the martial crisis.

“Sammy’s detention is taking way too long, but we will get him out even if I have to march there myself and create a storm,” she declared. since I’m what they desire.

“One of the biggest back in the day but Nigeria happened” is how she described her father, a lawyer.

“I’ll go into more detail about my mother and father later. She is quite strong. They would stop at nothing to protect their kids. I adore you, parents! She said, “I really only ever wanted this.”

Trump Declares: ‘We Are Going To Do Things Nigeria Will Not Be Happy About’

0

In order to stop what he described as the targeted killing of Christians in the West African nation, US President Donald Trump has escalated his threat of military action in Nigeria, stating that he would not rule out airstrikes or ground forces.

Trump reiterated the warning in a video message on Wednesday, accusing “radical Islamists” of carrying out a “mass slaughter” of Christians and threatening to take action if the Nigerian government did not put an end to the violence. On October 31, Trump redesignated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

Trump used forthright language to detail potential US actions in the recorded speech, which was given behind a lectern wearing his official seal. He stated that the US might both withdraw aid and launch direct military action.

He stated, “If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid assistance to Nigeria.

“We are going to do things to Nigerians that Nigeria is not going to be happy about and may very well go into that now-disgraced country, guns blazing, to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

He warned that any attack would be “vicious and sweet,” urged Nigerian authorities to act quickly, and instructed the US Department of War to “prepare for possible actions.”

“I am giving the Department of War instructions to get ready for potential actions. If we launch an attack, it will be as vicious and sweet as the terrorist thugs’ attacks on our beloved Christians. He advised the Nigerian government to act quickly before it’s too late.

The US president described the problem as existential for Christians in Nigeria.

In Nigeria, Christianity is in danger of going extinct. There are thousands and thousands of Christians being murdered. “This mass murder is the fault of radical Islamists,” Trump declared, urging Congress to look into the claims right away.

He requested that House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole and Representative Riley Moore investigate the matter and provide a fast report.

“I am requesting that Congressman Riley Moore, along with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, look into this issue right away and get back to me,” he stated.

Beyond military possibilities, Trump warned of the instant suspension of US funding should the deaths persist and portrayed the administration’s stance as part of a global effort to preserve Christian communities.

“We stand ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world,” he declared. “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries.”

Bode George Blasts Court Order Halting PDP Convention, Urges CJN’s Intervention

0

Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has denounced the Federal High Court in Abuja’s October 31 ruling that put an end to the party’s planned national electoral convention, which was set for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Justice James Omotosho’s decision, according to George, is “a recipe for anarchy” since it goes against the Supreme Court’s explicit rulings that party congresses and conventions are only internal matters of political parties.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at a news conference at his Lagos office, he made this statement.

George was taken aback by Justice Omotosho’s decision to halt the PDP convention in defiance of prior court rulings.

He emphasized that issues pertaining to political party administration and the election of their officers are not justiciable, as the Supreme Court had made clear.

“A political party’s congress to elect officers of any level of its executive committees… is its internal affairs and not within the jurisdiction of courts,” George stated.

He claims that the Supreme Court has made it plain that Section 84 of the Electoral Act 2022 only permits action on matters pertaining to party primary elections.

“The internal management of the political party is the subject of a congress to elect officers.” There is no justiciability. Consequently, any dispute emerging from it cannot be heard by a court or tribunal,” he continued.

“Justice Omotosho Is Not Correct”
George maintained that the judge’s ruling went against accepted legal norms.

He declared, “Justice Omotosho is attempting to impose his personal judicial opinion into the sacred interpretation of the apex court in his judgement stopping the PDP Convention.”

The Supreme Court ruled that the judiciary had no authority to meddle in a party’s internal affairs. Therefore, it is obvious that Justice Omotosho erred in this ruling.

The PDP leader requested the National Judicial Council and Nigeria’s Chief Justice to “call the judge to order,” cautioning against rulings that could lead to political unrest.

George chastised the judge for reportedly neglecting to invite INEC representatives, who kept an eye on the PDP congresses that preceded the convention.

“INEC is not grumbling. Even INEC representatives were not called by the judge to double-check the facts. Why, therefore, is the judge grumbling? Does he care about politics? “Does he work for APC?” he asked.

He cautioned that court meddling of this kind could jeopardize Nigeria’s democratic development. “Before they set our democracy on fire, the CJN and NJC should monitor some of these judges,” he said.

George insisted that during national conventions and congresses, the PDP had continuously followed constitutional procedures since its founding in 1998.

“Courts have no right to meddle in a political party’s internal affairs when it comes to conducting its election process,” he declared.

He bemoaned the fact that the contentious ruling has already led to security personnel purportedly supporting a small faction invading the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

George cautioned that the nation is in a precarious political situation and asked all parties involved to put moderation and communication first.

Nigeria is at a pivotal point in its history. Restraint, communication, and a renewed commitment to civilized democratic behavior are what are required now, he stated.

The PDP’s dedication to stability and national unity was reiterated by him.

George said, “The PDP is still dedicated to promoting harmony, peace, and the protection of democracy.”

TRUMP: A RAMPAGING BULL IN A CHINA SHOP

0

BY
Charles Nnaebuka Ph.D

In today’s unpredictable world of global politics, few leaders are as unpredictable as United States President, Donald J. Trump. He is always on the move, stirring up trouble wherever he goes and leaving behind broken rules and confusion. Like a bull in a China Shop, Trump rushes into sensitive international issues with reckless energy, breaking alliances, twisting facts and shaping reality to suit himself. Across issues, be it trade, security or democracy, Trump’s language is elastic. One day he is a nationalist champion, the next, a reluctant globalist. One moment, he warns against foreign entanglements, the next, he threatens invasion. He flirts with isolationism but cannot resist the allure of domination.

Once again, Trump has forced his way into global debate, this time with reckless talk about invading Nigeria to “stop the killing of Christians.” His statement, spread widely by media outlets, shows a dangerous mix of false information, pride and political opportunism. It is an old trick in a new form, using the language of helping others to hide the desire for power and control. Trump’s garrulousness is not just talk but confusion disguised as conviction. Whether he is threatening Iran, insulting NATO allies or now making bold claims about Nigeria, he rushes into sensitive situations and leaves disorder behind. Every reckless statement spreads fear and twists the truth. Unfortunately for fragile regions like West Africa, such words only end up inflaming religious tensions, encourage extremists and weaken ongoing peace efforts.

There is no gainsaying the fact that Nigeria’s internal challenges are complex, far too intricate for Trump’s simplistic worldview. The country faces overlapping crises including and not limited to insecurity in parts of the country, climate-driven conflicts between farmers and herders, banditry and terrorism amid related security challenges. When critically analysed, these are not signs of systemic religious extermination but the fallout of socio-economic inequalities and governance inefficiencies spanning decades. To then flatten these realities into a false narrative of “genocide against Christians” is not only wrong but dangerous. The wrong narrative fuels division, distorts truth and has now laid the groundwork for foreign interference. Trump’s rhetoric, of “fighting genocide in Nigeria” in this instance follows a familiar pattern of weaponisation of misinformation to stir fear and mobilise support among religious and conservative blocs. It should be noted however that this is not a moral mission but a political theatre to project a saviour complex as usual. But Nigeria will not be the prop in another man’s performance.

Interestingly, it is bitterly ironic that Trump would speak of “restoring order” abroad while his own country is mired in dysfunction. As of November 2025, the United States is in the midst of its longest government shutdown in history, which began on October 1st, 2025, after Congress failed to approve funding. As it stands, over 670,000 federal employees have been furloughed while 730,000 others work without pay. Also, the Congressional Budget Office estimates losses between US $7 billion and US $14 billion to the American economy. Consequently, critical services are paralyzed, air-traffic controllers and TSA agents are unpaid, airports are facing staff shortages and millions relying on food assistance face uncertainty. So here is a US government that cannot fund its own operations, pay its workers or maintain basic functionality thus, has no moral or political standing to lecture sovereign nations about order, governance or justice. Trump’s threat about fixing Nigeria rings hollow when the United States itself is in administrative paralysis.

But let it be known that Nigeria is not a frontier waiting for a Western saviour. It is a sovereign republic of over 200 million people that is diverse, resilient and capable of addressing its own internal issues. The country’s complexities demand engagement, not intrusion, partnership, not paternalism. It is also on this note that China, one of Nigeria’s strategic partners has called on the United States to “mind its own business”, a sentiment likely to be echoed by other nations weary of America’s interventionist impulses. The world is no longer willing to accept the myth of moral superiority from a power that struggles to govern itself. Africa has long suffered from the conceit of outsiders who claim to understand her better than she understands herself. From “civilizing missions” to “humanitarian interventions,” the pattern repeats in the same manner of moral pretext concealing power politics. Trump’s threats fall squarely in that lineage.

Nigeria and indeed all of Africa must remain vigilant. The continent cannot afford a return to the era when Western powers dictated the terms of sovereignty. Global partners must speak with one voice that no nation, however powerful, has the right to invade another on the basis of manipulated narratives. The message is clear: Nigeria will not be invaded under the banner of falsehood. We will not be rescued by those who cannot rescue themselves.

The bull may rampage, but when the dust settles, history will remember not his noise, but the nations that stood firm in the face of it.

Taraba Political Forum Throws Weight Behind Governor Kefas’s Planned Switch to APC

0

The projected defection of Governor Agbu Kefas from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received strong endorsement from the Taraba State Unity, Progressive, and Reconciliation Forum.

The forum called the governor’s decision a “welcome development” in a statement released on Wednesday, pointing out that his switch to the APC demonstrates his ongoing dedication to Taraba State’s development and well-being.

“We applaud His Excellency’s choice to become a member of the APC as a move that will further our wonderful state’s advancement. The statement said, “Our party will greatly benefit from the governor’s leadership and experience.”

The forum, which was jointly signed by its secretary, Sani Tulu, and chairman, Ibrahim Waziri, urged Governor Kefas to join the APC without any restrictions that would compromise the party’s ideals.

It gave him the assurance that party members would work together to further the state’s expansion and development.

The statement went on, “We want to reassure the governor that he will be welcomed with open arms and given the necessary support to meaningfully contribute to the APC’s mission of building a better Taraba State.”

The organization also urged APC members throughout Taraba to extend a cordial welcome to the governor and his supporters, stressing that cooperation and unity are essential to building a more powerful and wealthy state.

The Taraba State Unity, Progressive and Reconciliation Forum reaffirms that it is prepared to collaborate with the governor and the leadership of the APC in order to achieve common aims and objectives. The forum declared, “We are optimistic that this development will usher in a new era of progress and development in Taraba State.”

‘I’ll Fight for My Children,’ Regina Daniels Says Amid Marriage Turmoil

0

For the first time, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has spoken out about the problems with her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, stating that she is still devoted to protecting her mother, Rita Daniels, in the face of mounting criticism on social media.

On Wednesday, Daniels posted a video on Instagram in which she talked candidly about her marriage, her mother, and her kids. The controversy began with a viral video on October 18 and progressed to accusations of drug usage and the purported arrest of her family members.

Daniels talked about her family, her challenges, and the impact recent scandals have had on her mental health in an Instagram video.

“Explain to me why I can’t sleep while everyone else can. I will not shed a tear. That is not what you do in front of a camera. This indicates that I’m resilient and not sobbing.

The actress pledged to raise her sons with or without her husband’s help and begged Nigerians to stop disparaging her mother, whom she called her “pillar and protector.”

“Hey everyone, I ask you to stop making fun of my mother. The greatest thing that has ever occurred to me is her. She is my earthly god. My mother held it down for seven years. She attempted, but you all insulted her. She advised me. My siblings cautioned me. “Everyone did,” Daniels stated.

She claimed that, despite her family’s initial opposition, she married Nwoko because she was in love.

Everyone declined. My mom told me that my brothers were fighting and smashing bottles. I even said, “Arrest me!” when I walked to the police station. She stated, “My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life.”

Daniels emphasized that she had always provided for her family even before marriage, refuting long-standing accusations that her mother coerced her into the union for financial gain.

“Stop claiming that my marriage was motivated by money, everyone. We weren’t broke, so pardon me! How much money may a man offer a mother who is already supporting the family with a child? My mother trained all of her kids through me. She said, “God used me to settle her; I was a blessing to her.”

Daniels spoke fervently for her sons, Munir (born 2020) and Khalifa (born 2022), in the same video, promising to raise and protect them despite any marital difficulties.

“I’m going to defend my kids.” She said, “With or without your help, I’ll take them, train them, and raise them.”

The actress stated that she still respects her husband despite her passionate tone.

“I still love and respect him, and I did fall in love. That’s love: respect and care. I want Mona and Khalifa’s father’s name to stay strong, which is the only reason I’m not attacking you, Ned. She responded, “But they can take mine.”

Village Head Suspended in Akwa Ibom for Alleged Involvement in Terrorism

0

Chief Monday Esu, the village head of Ikot Umo Essien, has been suspended by the Akwa Ibom State government of Governor Umo Eno due to suspected acts of terrorism and violations of public order.

According to reports, Frank Archibong, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday in Uyo.

In order to conduct a thorough inquiry into the accusations made against the troubled village chief, Archibong stated that the suspension will endure for six months.

The commissioner claims that Chief Esu was suspended as a result of reports that connected him to actions that could cause instability in the community, such as allegedly sponsoring theft and vandalism at a recently built block of stores in the Ikot Ekpenyong community market.

According to Archibong, “the accusations against the village head include acts that breach peace and security, such as alleged sponsorship of vandalism and theft of facilities at newly constructed blocks of shops at the Ikot Ekpenyong community market.”

He clarified that actions that could jeopardize law and order in rural areas could not be disregarded by the state government.

According to the statement, thugs from Ikot Umo Essien village had recently broken into the Ikot Ekpenyong community market and allegedly destroyed, vandalized, and robbed recently constructed stores.

“Mr. Nsikak Ekong, the immediate past member representing Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, facilitated the block of shops as a constituency project in February 2024,” Archibong stated.

He further said that the thieves did not stop at the stores; instead, they proceeded to demolish a VIP restroom and a Fadama-sponsored borehole on the market grounds, taking valuables such aluminum roofing sheets, doors, windows, overhead tanks, generators, and water pumps.

The commissioner said, “They also unleashed mayhem and intimidated locals, making them live in fear.”

According to Archibong, Chief Esu was the main suspect in the tragedy based on preliminary findings from the state’s investigation team.

“The main suspect in the attacks is Chief Monday Esu, the Village Head of Ikot Umo Essien, according to preliminary investigations,” he stated.

As a result, the traditional ruler has been ordered to provide the village council secretary all government property he owns while the investigation is ongoing.

The Commissioner restated the Akwa Ibom State Government’s commitment to upholding security and tranquility in every community throughout the state.

He issued a warning that if a traditional ruler or community leader was discovered to be encouraging illegal conduct, the government would not think twice about punishing them.

According to Archibong, “the Ministry will continue to uphold discipline and ensure that traditional institutions remain symbols of peace, unity, and development.”

America Moves to Prosecute Religious Persecutors, China Throws Weight Behind Tinubu

0

Following Nigeria’s classification as a “Country of Particular Concern,” the United States has said that it will collaborate with the Federal Government to take swift action to safeguard Christians, apprehend those responsible for acts of religious violence, and free hostages.

Vicky Hartzler, the chair of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, revealed this while applauding President Donald Trump’s move to ban Nigeria as an abuser of religious freedom.

In a statement, Hartzler praised Trump for acting to stop what she called the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

China, on the other hand, expressed strong support for Nigeria and denounced what it saw as foreign meddling in the domestic affairs of the nation.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump declared Nigeria to be a Country of Particular Concern, claiming that radical Islamists had killed hundreds of Christians and that Christianity in Nigeria is under “existential threat.”

He cautioned that if the Bola Tinubu administration did nothing, the United States might take drastic action, including perhaps military intervention.

The Federal Government responded by denouncing the US accusation as factually incorrect and reiterating Nigeria’s commitment to preventing violent extremism, safeguarding its citizens, and advancing religious freedom and inclusivity.

The United States Congress is debating a bill that would severely penalize state governors, public servants, and non-state actors who enforce the Sharia Penal Code in reaction to Nigeria’s alleged transgressions.

Ted Cruz, a Republican, is the bill’s sponsor. After passing second reading, it was sent to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations for additional review.

The proposed legislation, S. The “Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025” (2747, dated September 9, 2025) instructs the US Secretary of State to declare Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern, impose particular sanctions, and take other relevant actions.

Additionally, terrorist organizations and individuals that enforce or support Islamic rules in the nation are targeted by the proposed legislation.

Judges, magistrates, jail officials, and other judicial or law enforcement personnel found to have participated in terrorism, corruption, or the implementation of blasphemy laws would all face penalties under the proposed legislation.

It particularly covers those in charge of bringing charges against, convicting, imprisoning, or otherwise denying someone of their freedom due to accusations of blasphemy.

“USCIRF applauds President Trump for speaking out on the religious freedom crisis in Nigeria and making Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern,” stated Vicky Hartzler, the chair of USCIRF, in response to the executive action.

In a statement posted on the commission’s website on Monday, she said, “The US Government can now develop a tough plan with Nigeria to ensure that perpetrators of violence are held to account, people of faith are protected, and those held hostage are rescued.”

In an email response on Tuesday, Asif Mahmood, the vice chair of USCIRF, also stated that the commission will make sure the Trump administration carried out a number of administrative actions against Nigeria, which it characterized as a chronic violation of religious freedom since 2009.

Due to frequent violent attacks on religious communities, the US State Department identified Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern in 2020 and placed it on its Special Watch List in 2019 during the Trump administration.

The statement said, “The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom applauds President Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern.” “Since 2009, USCIRF has recommended this designation due to the government’s participation in and tolerance of systematic, persistent, and egregious violations of religious freedom.”

The statement mentioned a number of recent events, such as the murder of at least 27 worshippers during an early-morning mosque attack in Katsina State in August and the deaths of at least 200 people, including internally displaced people, at a Catholic mission in Benue State in June.

“Tensions are rising and Nigerians’ freedom to freely express their faith is being threatened by these and other violent incidents targeting religious communities,” the statement continued.

Mahmood pointed out that the Nigerian government must be held responsible for permitting the application of blasphemy laws in 12 states, in addition to the violence committed by non-state actors.

He declared, “The CPC designation is justified by enforcing these laws and tolerating violence targeting Christians, Muslims, and other communities.” “To encourage necessary change in the nation, the administration can now use this opportunity to impose Presidential Actions under the International Religious Freedom Act.”

Mahmood reaffirmed in his email that the Nigerian government had “repeatedly failed to address ongoing violence targeting religious communities.”

“We reported on violence targeting religious communities in our 2025 Annual Report, which covered the calendar year 2024, and Nigerian authorities far too frequently fail to adequately respond,” he said.

He clarified that USCIRF recommends a Country of Particular Concern designation for any government that “engages in or tolerates particularly severe violations of religious freedom” based on international human rights standards, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under the International Religious Freedom Act.

Mahmood stated, “Nigeria has met that standard since 2009,” pointing out that 12 state governments still uphold stringent blasphemy laws that are used to jail humanists, Christians, and Muslims for purported insults to religion.

He continued by saying that the USCIRF had consistently suggested legislative measures that Congress and the US government should use to enhance religious freedom in Nigeria in its yearly reports.

The International Religious Freedom Act gives the US government the authority to carry out certain Presidential Actions now that President Trump has designated Nigeria as a CPC, according to Mahmood. “We urge the administration to take these steps without waiving them.”

Regarding what Nigeria may do to obtain a reprieve, Mahmood clarified that the primary need for being taken off USCIRF’s list of Countries of Particular Concern was to stop or drastically reduce “systematic, ongoing, and egregious” breaches of religious freedom as described in the organization’s Annual Report.

He declared, “Our recommendation is based on our statutory mandate, facts on the ground, and international human rights law.” “USCIRF continues to monitor and report, and our next CPC recommendations will be included in our 2026 Annual Report, which must be submitted to Congress by May 1st of each year.”

Beijing supports Tinubu.

The US action against Nigeria, however, has drawn harsh criticism from the People’s Republic of China, which calls it blatant meddling in the nation’s internal affairs.

Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, stated at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday that China rejected the use of religion or human rights as instruments of political pressure and stood solidly with Nigeria in pursuing its own development path.

“As a comprehensive strategic partner of Nigeria, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people on a development path that aligns with its national realities,” she said in remarks made public by the Chinese Embassy in Abuja.

“We are against any nation meddling in the domestic affairs of other nations under the guise of human rights or religion. We also oppose the use of force or the wanton threat of sanctions.

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, stated that President Bola Tinubu was taking proactive measures to guarantee the security of people and property throughout the nation.

After meeting with the President on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Idris told State House reporters that he discussed the recent remarks made by the US on Nigeria with Tinubu.

He pointed out that in the face of mounting international scrutiny, the President had urged Nigerians to remain calm and reassured them that his administration is still committed to bolstering national security and fostering unity.

“We always have this regular meeting with Mr. President,” Idris remarked. “Of course, the US issue also came up, and we talked about that in great detail.”

He claims that the President is “calm and taking a holistic view of the situation” while attempting to make sure that the whole community is more aware of Nigeria’s continuous efforts to uphold security and peace.

“Mr. President only selected a new Chief of Defense Staff and other service chiefs this week in an effort to revitalize the nation’s security architecture. That indicates that he has been working hard to keep Nigeria safe for everyone,” Idris continued.

In order to make Nigeria’s position clear, he clarified that the government was purposefully maintaining a calibrated diplomatic tone while increasing engagement with foreign partners.

“We are establishing lines of communication to let the world know what Nigeria has been doing and what it plans to do to address any domestic or international issues,” he stated.

Idris stated that Tinubu had taken a multifaceted approach in response to calls for more extensive interaction with religious and community groups.

“There are ongoing discussions with religious group leadership,” he said. “The President has been and will continue to meet with them. They are significant participants in the Nigerian project.

In order to refute what he referred to as “false narratives” on Nigeria’s religious climate, the minister further stated that Tinubu will continue regional and continental engagements.

Idris said, “It is completely untrue to characterize us as a nation that is intolerant of religion.” Muslims, Christians, and even nonreligious people live in Nigeria, and freedom of religion is guaranteed by our Constitution. Mr. President will strictly enforce that.

Idris urged people to oppose such misinformation, accusing extremist groups of promoting divisive narratives meant to paint the nation in a poor light.

“Yes, there are security issues, but there has never been a government decision to support one religion over another or to use violence in the name of religion,” he stated. This is a time to consider our togetherness and unite; it is not a time for politics, rhetoric, or separation, but rather for nation-building.

He reiterated that President Tinubu has instructed pertinent authorities to address the matters “with all the responsibility and depth they require” and is “taking the situation very seriously.”

“We think that we will emerge from this stronger in the end,” Idris said.

EU and ECOWAS react

Claims that the recent increase in terrorist attacks throughout the area, particularly Nigeria, amounted to genocide have been rejected by the Economic Community of West African States.

The regional agency stressed in a statement on Tuesday that the violence cannot be categorized as genocide targeting any specific religious group and that the attacks target individuals of all religions and backgrounds.

ECOWAS called on the UN and other international partners to keep assisting its member nations in their fight against violent extremism.

The statement said, “Terrorist-related violence does not discriminate on the basis of gender, religion, ethnicity, or age, as independent reports have confirmed over the years.”

“ECOWAS urges the UN and its allies to assist member nations in their battle against these organizations and to dismiss as untrue any allegations that these terrorist organizations target a particular community or that a particular religious group is being genocided in the area.

“ECOWAS vehemently denounces these dangerous and false assertions that aim to erode social cohesion in the region and increase community insecurity.”

The bloc reaffirmed its dedication to regional peace and unity and emphasized that fighting terrorism necessitates a coordinated response based on solidarity and facts rather than polarizing or deceptive narratives.

The statement ended with the words, “ECOWAS calls on the entire world to stand by the countries in the region in their fight against terrorism that targets all communities.”

In a similar development, the European Union has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding religious liberty and encouraging harmonious cohabitation in Nigeria.

During a news event on Monday, Anouar El Anouni, the spokesperson for EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said this. The EU’s press officer, Modestus Chukwulaka, shared his remarks with reporters in Abuja on Tuesday.

The EU has taken notice of the remarks made by the US administration on Nigeria. El Anouni stated, “The EU reaffirms its commitment to the protection of all communities, especially minorities, and to freedom of religion and belief.”

“We emphasize our dedication to the peaceful cohabitation of Nigerians, irrespective of geographical, ethnic, political, or religious distinctions.”

The EU acknowledged the US stance but warned against blaming religion alone for Nigeria’s violence.

“We acknowledge the various causes of the violence in Nigeria.” He continued, “Let’s remember that religion is just one of many factors—and only in specific situations.

According to the EU, it is still collaborating with Nigerian authorities to support victims of violence and displacement and to bolster peacebuilding initiatives.

El Anouni stated, “To prevent violence, consolidate peace, and assist victims of violence and forced displacement, the European Union works with the competent Nigerian authorities and implements multifaceted support in Nigeria.”

US military facility

Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), a former Chief of Army Staff and former Minister of Interior, claimed that the US may be attempting to build a military facility in Nigeria under the guise of defending Christians from persecution.

Speaking on Tuesday at an event hosted by the Just Friends Club of Nigeria in Abuja, Dambazau claimed that recent claims made by certain American politicians and religious leaders regarding “Christian genocide” in Nigeria might be connected to outside agendas.

“Both domestic and foreign actors have increased religious tensions, sometimes leading to the misrepresentation of security incidents as targeting particular faith groups,” he stated.

Dambazau questioned the motivation, pointing out that the Niger Republic still experiences extreme insecurity even after housing two US military posts for more than ten years.

What steps did the United States take to stop the spread of terrorism during its more than ten years in Niger? “I believe the United States is seeking a chance to set up a different base in Nigeria,” he stated.

The former general contended that terrorism in Nigeria is a component of a larger regional crisis in the Sahel and Lake Chad Basin and impacts both Christians and Muslims.

He cited the Kuje jail break and the Abuja-Kaduna train incident as examples of how Nigeria’s inadequate security capabilities have made matters worse.

In order to prevent attacks, communities in Katsina and Zamfara have even made arrangements with robbers. He continued, “People now depend on criminals for protection.”

Dambazau asked the government to foster unity and bolster security institutions, warning that foreign interests could take advantage of Nigeria’s internal divides.

He declared, “We must not permit outside actors to manipulate our differences for their own interests.”

Middle Belt Executives

Leaders of the Southern and Middle Belt Forum characterized the development as a “wake-up call” for the Federal Government to immediately address insecurity and the ongoing killings throughout the nation amid mounting worries about a potential diplomatic confrontation.

Following its National Caucus meeting on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in Abuja, the forum outlined its positions on insecurity, justice, national unity, and the 2027 elections in a communiqué signed by spokesman Luka Binniyat, Oba Oladipo Olaitan (Afenifere), Dr. Bitrus Pogu (Middle Belt Forum), Senator John Azuta-Mbata (Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide), and Ambassador Godknows Igali (PANDEF).

The statement read, “The SMBLF notes with very serious concern the designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern by US President Donald Trump over alleged persecution against Christians.”

“However, we see this as a wake-up call to the Federal Government to pursue the cessation of ongoing mayhem and killings with urgency and responsibility.”

In addition to restoring “occupied lands to their rightful owners” in Benue, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Taraba, Gombe, Southern Borno, and other impacted states, the conference called for the government to disarm and prosecute terrorists, killer herdsmen, and armed militias.

In order to guarantee inclusivity and balance in national security management, the group urged on President Bola Tinubu to expand reforms to the positions of National Security Adviser, Minister of Defense, and Minister of State for Defense, even as they welcomed recent changes in the military hierarchy.

In order to promote peace and reconciliation in the nation, the SMBLF also reiterated calls for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, a former governor of Sokoto State, advised President Tinubu to pursue diplomatic contact rather than conflict with Washington.

In a statement on Tuesday, Bafarawa said, “I advise President Tinubu to avoid confrontation and reach out to the American government to present Nigeria’s side of the story.”

“In international politics and diplomacy, Nigeria and the United States are strategic allies. Therefore, strengthening this long-standing connection will be beneficial to Nigeria.

In a related response, the Yoruba Ronu Group, a sociopolitical organization, said that Trump’s accusations that Nigeria is “killing Christians” were “false and dangerously provocative” in a statement released in Abuja and signed by Diran Iyantan, the group’s chairman.

Iyantan cautioned, “Trump’s aggressive tone is incitement, not diplomacy.” Such careless language degrades our sovereignty, weakens our military victories, and gives terrorists more confidence. From Libya to Afghanistan, every U.S. intervention has resulted in devastation and mayhem. Nigeria is not going to be their next test.

The Federal Government’s failure to nominate ambassadors during the crisis was also criticized by Nigeria’s National Civil Society Council, which called it “unhealthy and unthinkable.”

“The government must handle the allegations of Christian genocide with professionalism and diplomacy, confronting the matter with verifiable facts and figures,” the council stated in a statement signed by Oscar Kalu, the chairman of the committee responsible for crafting the statement.

In a similar vein, Kehinde Bankole, an APC leader and former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly Commission, advised Trump against making provocative statements that would divert Nigeria’s leadership.

According to Bankole, “every nation’s right to determine its political, social, economic, and cultural systems without external interference is affirmed by Article 2(1), (4), and (7) of the UN Charter.”

Seven Dead, Several Injured in Tragic Cargo Plane Crash

At least seven persons were killed and numerous others were injured when a UPS cargo plane crashed soon after departure from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky.

The MD-11F freight airliner caught fire shortly after takeoff at approximately 5:15 p.m. local time (10:15 p.m. GMT), causing enormous plumes of black smoke to billow across the city.

Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the Tuesday night incident and deaths, saying that the three crew members on board were probably among the dead.

Two employees of a local car repair shop hit by the aircraft are still unaccounted for, while eleven other people are said to have suffered severe injuries.

Authorities said that the almost 38,000 gallons (144,000 liters) of jet fuel the aircraft was carrying on its 4,300-mile flight to Hawaii were the source of the fire that broke out after the accident.

A petroleum recycling factory is one of the businesses impacted by the explosion. As emergency personnel struggled to contain the fire, a temporary citywide shelter-in-place order was issued within a five-mile radius, which was eventually reduced to one mile.

Because of the amount of fuel that had spilled and the ongoing fire threats, Louisville Fire Department Chief Brian O’Neal called the scene “extremely dangerous.”

He declared, “Our teams are working tirelessly to cool down the wreckage and prevent further explosions.”

Due to ongoing rescue efforts and safety concerns, airport officials grounded all departing planes on Tuesday night.

Governor Beshear warned of lingering dangers and advised locals to avoid the crash area.

“Those who have viewed the photos understand how terrible this collision was. Potential explosives and combustible items are still present at the location, he stated.

Paul Humphrey, the chief of Louisville Metro Police, stated that while investigators attempt to secure and examine the debris, the area would continue to be active for a few days.

Before joining the UPS fleet in 2006, the 34-year-old McDonnell Douglas MD-11F had its first flight with Thai Airways in 1990.

UPS expressed its “deep sadness” over the tragedy in a statement. “The families of those impacted are in our thoughts. The corporation declared, “We are dedicated to supporting local authorities and guaranteeing the safety of our employees and community.”

Pretty Mike’s Nightclub Forfeited Temporarily Over Alleged Drug Dealings

Pretty Mike, a well-known socialite and performer, had his house temporarily forfeited by the Federal High Court in Lagos due to claims that the property was being used for drug sales and storage.

After hearing an ex parte motion submitted by Mr. Buhari Abdulahi, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) attorney, Justice Musa Kakaki issued the order on Tuesday.

200 grams of cannabis sativa and 169 cylinders (384.662 kilos) of nitrous oxide, sometimes known as laughing gas, were allegedly stored and distributed at the facility, which is situated at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, and is run as Proxy Lagos Night Club.

The nightclub is owned by Mike Nwalie (Pretty Mike) and Joachim Hillary, who allegedly utilized the space as a base to get ready for a “large-scale drug party,” according to the NDLEA.

In his October 27, 2025, application, Abdulahi described the nightclub as a “instrumentality of crime” under the NDLEA Act and asked the court to grant an order for its temporary forfeiture to the Federal Government.

Additionally, he requested an injunction that would halt all business and entertainment operations on the property until the investigations were finished.

He maintained that no party would be adversely harmed by the court’s ruling and that the injunction was required to protect the property’s integrity during the ongoing investigation.

The NDLEA revealed in an affidavit given to Deputy Commander of Narcotics Nasiru Garba Bungudu that the agency had obtained reliable information in October 2025 regarding plans for a significant drug event at the nightclub. On October 26, 2025, at around midnight, NDLEA agents from the Lagos Strategic Command assaulted the site in response to the tip.

Officers reportedly found 200 grams of cannabis and 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide during the raid, and they arrested over 200 people, including the two responders.

Subsequent laboratory testing verified that the materials confiscated were prohibited narcotics.

Additionally, the statement claimed that the nightclub had a history of engaging in drug-related operations with the owner’s knowledge and approval.

Following an examination of the motion and supporting documentation, Justice Kakaki granted the NDLEA’s request and ordered the nightclub to be temporarily forfeited to the federal government.

Additionally, the court ordered that all activities at the location be halted until the investigations were finished.

For a follow-up hearing, the matter was postponed until January 28, 2026.
