United Nigeria Airlines Accepts Apology from VeryDarkMan, Mr Jollof After On-Board Clash

0

Following a violent confrontation on one of its flights on Monday, social media stars Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Atsepoyi, also known as Mr. Jollof, publicly apologized to United Nigeria Airlines.

A broader discussion about aircraft safety and passenger behavior in Nigeria was prompted by the altercation, which happened during boarding at the Asaba International Airport and caused alarm among travelers.

United Nigeria Airlines acknowledged in a statement on Thursday that it had examined and accepted the two individuals’ social media apologies.

“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges and accepts the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr. Jollof following the onboard altercation that occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on November 17, 2025,” the airline said.

“We take note of their social media pledges to abstain from any behavior that might jeopardize aviation safety, order, or decorum on flights operated by United Nigeria Airlines or any other airline.”

“We hope that this commitment will be upheld in the interest of preserving a respectful, safe, and organized travel environment for every passenger.”

In order to reduce disruptive passenger behavior across the country, the airline reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Airline Operators of Nigeria and pertinent regulatory bodies.

The two men can be seen fighting and striking each other inside the cabin in videos that have gone viral on social media. As worried passengers watched, staff members had to step in.

Both individuals were deboarded and turned over to security personnel at the Asaba Airport, according to the airline.

It is believed that the altercation was sparked by a protracted internet dispute that began in 2024, when VeryDarkMan openly threatened to assault Mr. Jollof “on sight.”

A clearly hurt VeryDarkMan apologized to travelers and airline employees in a heartfelt video that was uploaded on Tuesday.

“I sincerely apologize for the incident that occurred aboard United Nigeria Airlines yesterday. I will accept full responsibility for yesterday’s events, which were not intended to occur,” he declared.

He apologized to every passenger, including those who had medical emergencies or crucial appointments postponed due to the disturbance, while sporting bandages on his head and arm.

Additionally, he expressed regret to “all the mothers, all the daddies, all the uncles, and all the younger ones” on board.

Although he acknowledged that he had behaved “irresponsibly,” he did not rule out future conflicts but promised that such situations would never happen in public places like buses or airplanes.

Mr. Jollof Apologizes: “I Was Defending Myself”
Additionally, Mr. Jollof apologized publicly on Instagram, stating that he is “not a violent person” and that he only acted in self-defense.

“I would like to use this opportunity to express my heartfelt regret to United Nigeria Airlines, the NCAA, and the travelers. I was just protecting myself. If I caused you to miss your appointment, I really apologize,” he said.

He claimed that in order to defend himself during the altercation, he even bit VeryDarkMan.

“I know you are proud of me, my dear wife. “I apologize to my children, and I promise not to do this again,” he continued.

Michael Achimugu, the Acting Director of Public Affairs for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, denounced the occurrence and called it a “serious infraction” that puts lives in danger.

Achimugu cautioned that disruptive behavior in airplane cabins may result in criminal charges and perhaps jail time.

He emphasized that confrontations, acts of violence, or conduct endangering the safety of crew and passengers are completely forbidden by aviation laws.

In order to preserve the integrity and security of air travel, United Nigeria Airlines asked passengers to completely comply with flight attendants, airport officials, and security agencies.

The airline stated that it is still dedicated to creating a safe workplace and would keep enforcing stringent procedures to stop similar accidents from happening again.

ADC Government Will End Banditry and Insecurity in Nigeria – Aregbesola

0

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, has called on Nigerians to vote the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in order to install a good administration that will put a stop to insecurity and banditry.

Speaking in his Ifofin Ward 8, Ilesa East, Osun State, upon the revalidation of his party membership, Aregbesola stated that if the party is elected to power in 2027, it will take the required actions to put a stop to banditry and address the country’s issues.

After taking part in the party’s ongoing “membership renewal” process, Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the ADC, made this statement.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola selected ADC as his new party because it encourages integrity and discipline, according to a statement released by Oluwaseun Abosede, Chairman of the Directorate of Media and Publicity.

“Ogbeni (Aregbesola) commended the committee’s efforts and urged all Nigerians to join us in establishing a good government that will put an end to banditry, insecurity, and incidents like the one that happened in Kwara State, where some unknown gunmen attacked a church, killing some members and kidnapping others.”

He explained to the populace that ADC as a party did not appear out of thin air, but he made the decision to gradually advance with the group that has made character, bravery, competence, discipline, and integrity the cornerstones of their institutional behavior and political involvement in the service of the Nigerian people. Nigeria will emerge from its current predicament under the leadership of this party. Oluwaseun stated.

The Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee’s Secretary, Alhaji Sodiq Yaradua, escorted the committee’s other members to Ilesa to begin the process.

In order to prevent duplication and guarantee integrity, he pointed out that the new ADC membership card has twelve sophisticated security elements.

“Aregbesola is the first person to be revalidated in Nigeria under the new ADC system,” he stated, encouraging party members to register in their individual wards.

In order to guarantee a smooth experience for both new and seasoned members, he also revealed that an online platform for membership registration will soon be released.

The statement said, “Ogbeni was subsequently revalidated as an ADC member by Hon. Kamil Akinlade Mudashir, Osun State Chairman, ADC Membership Mobilization, Revalidation & Registration Committee.”

Court Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Bail, Set to Deliver Judgment

0

Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), filed a plea for bail, but the Federal High Court in Abuja rejected it on Thursday, stating that the scheduled verdict in his terrorism trial would go forward.

Kanu had requested that the court postpone the ruling and take into consideration his new submissions. Kanu has been on trial for several years on allegations relating to terrorism and treasonous felonies.

Justice James Omotosho, however, declared that the procedures were over and that the court would not allow any more delays.

It had previously stated that Kanu showed up in court and insisted that since he had filed multiple new proceedings, no judgment could be given.

“I have filed my procedures, so there is no judgment. No judgment would hold,” he declared at the start of proceedings.

However, Justice Omotosho advised him to behave appropriately, emphasizing that the hearing would continue as planned and that decorum must be upheld.

Kanu, who is representing himself, informed the court that he had filed three distinct motions between November 11 and 17.
Among them were:

A motion requesting the court to order the prosecution to submit a final written address, a motion seeking bail on liberal terms, and a motion asking the court to refer “substantial constitutional issues” to the Court of Appeal.

Additionally, he argued that the entire trial is unlawful because count 7 of the charge does not exist under any written law.

Justice Omotosho merged the motions but made it clear the court would not reconsider completed subjects.

According to Justice Omotosho, Kanu’s concerns had already been resolved by the same court.

This court is constrained by its prior decisions. We will not consider the Court of Appeal or the stay of proceedings. Such applications are prohibited by Section 306 of the ACJA, he stated.

According to the legislation, there are two types of bail, and Kanu’s situation “does not fall within them,” he continued.

NCAA Fines Qatar Airways N5 Million for Repeated Consumer Protection Violations

0

As part of a renewed effort to enforce compliance and defend the rights of Nigerian passengers, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) fined Qatar Airways N5 million for infractions that bordered on consumer protection.

Mr. Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, made the announcement and denounced the airline for what he described as a “persistent disregard for regulatory directives.”

Achimugu said that Qatar Airways has received numerous Letters of Investigation (LOIs) regarding other concerns, and that the fine is just one of many outstanding issues surrounding the carrier.

He cautioned that the Authority will no longer put up with what it sees as a history of contempt and non-compliance, and that failing to reply to the LOIs satisfactorily may result in additional consequences.

He claims that Qatar Airways has acted “as though Nigerian passengers and the NCAA are not deserving of respect, dignified treatment, and compliance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023,” and he is adamant that this behavior “will be brought to a stop immediately.”

An event on a voyage from Lagos to Doha to the United States was one of the cases that led to the most recent enforcement action. When she helped another passenger board in Lagos, a female cabin crew member said that a male passenger traveling with his wife had improperly grabbed her. Most importantly, the crew member failed to disclose the allegation in Lagos.

But when she filed the complaint after arriving in Doha, the traveler was arrested and held for around eighteen hours.

According to Achimugu, the passenger’s wife had significant mental and psychological suffering during the encounter, raising doubts about the veracity of the accusation given that she had accompanied her husband during the boarding process.

In order to regain his freedom and resume his journey, the detained traveler was later forced to pay a hefty fee and sign a paper written entirely in Arabic, even though he did not comprehend the language.

He had to purchase a ticket on another airline at great financial and reputational expense because Qatar Airways refused to take him to his destination even after he followed the instructions in Doha.

Achimugu further stated that Qatar Airways’ country manager allegedly sent subordinates in his place when the NCAA called the airline to a meeting to discuss the incident and other outstanding issues.

After the meeting, the Authority made decisions, but Qatar Airways reportedly disregarded them. Additionally, it has not responded to further complaints or a written letter of intent, which Achimugu emphasized is illegal.

“This behavior is over,” he said. “Any airline that fails to respond to the NCAA, gives false information, or ignores Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023 is in violation of Nigerian aviation law.”

He saw that some international airlines, particularly those from nations with laxer consumer protection laws, frequently violate Nigerian laws with contempt.

Achimugu noted that all parties must respect Bilateral Air Service Agreements (BASAs) and issued a warning that such attitudes will no longer be tolerated.

He reiterated the position of Captain Chris Najomo, Director-General of Civil Aviation, who has continuously emphasized firmness on issues pertaining to consumer protection. “Any airline that consistently fails to comply will face appropriate and severe penalties,” Achimugu declared.

In a similar development, he disclosed that Saudi Air and Royal Air Maroc had also received warnings due to detected violations. They will be subject to similarly harsh penalties if they disregard the NCAA’s rulings.

Achimugu emphasized that adherence to Nigerian aviation regulations is non-negotiable while restating the NCAA’s commitment to safeguarding both passengers and airlines.

The verdict in Nnamdi Kanu’s accused terrorist trial will be broadcast live on Thursday by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

On Thursday morning, the News Agency of Nigeria received confirmation of the development from the court registrar.

Among the broadcast station employees in the courtroom with their devices for the live broadcast were cameramen from various television networks, such as NTA, Channels TV, AIT, and TVC.

According to NAN, Justice James Omotosho scheduled the verdict for today on November 7.

After Kanu’s defense was foreclosed because to his insistence that he would not enter his defense under a repealed legislation, Justice James Omotosho set the date.

Judge Omotosho ruled that Kanu had waived his opportunity to present his defense after using up the six days the court had given him.

The judge stated that if Kanu had chosen to open it, he would have given him more time to present his defense.

He stated that Kanu could not claim to have been deprived of the constitutionally provided right to a fair hearing because he had not used the opportunity to present his defense.

ISWAP Commander Gets 20-Year Sentence as Ansaru Terrorists’ Trial Set for January

0

Hussaini Ismaila, a leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province, was given a 20-year prison sentence by the Federal High Court in Abuja for crimes related to terrorism.

Ismaila, also known as Mai Tangaran, altered his plea from not guilty to guilty on four counts brought under the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act, 2013, and Judge Emeka Nwite rendered the verdict on Tuesday.

In 2012, Ismaila was charged with planning coordinated assaults on Kano State police formations.

Several persons were reportedly hurt in his attacks on the Police Headquarters in Bompai, the Mobile Police Base on Kabuga Road, the Pharm Centre Police Station, and the Angwa Uku Police Station.

On August 31, 2017, he was taken into custody at Tsamiyya Babba Village in Kano State’s Gezawa Local Government Area.

Interlocutory appeals and a trial-within-trial to ascertain the voluntariness of his extrajudicial utterances caused delays in the trial.

Five witnesses, including operatives and eyewitnesses, were called by the Department of State Services.

Ismaila modified his plea when the fifth witness testified.

His attorney, P. B. Onijah of the Legal Aid Council, pointing out that Ismaila was repentant and had entered a guilty plea to save more delays, requested the court to balance justice with mercy.

He was found guilty on all four counts by Justice Nwite, who sentenced him to 15 years for count one and 20 years for counts two, three, and four, to be served concurrently.

The punishment goes into effect on August 31, 2017, the day of his arrest.

After serving his sentence, the judge mandated that Ismaila undergo rehabilitation and deradicalization.

The trial of Mahmud Usman and Abubakar Abba, two suspected Ansaru leaders, has been postponed until January 15, 2026.

The DSS has filed a 32-count complaint against the defendants for suspected offenses ranging from kidnapping and terrorism to illegal mining, financing terrorism, and purchasing weapons between 2015 and 2024.

Usman has denied the other counts but entered a guilty plea to Count 10, which relates to an economic offense.

He had already received a 15-year sentence for using illicit mining to finance kidnapping and terrorism. Abba has entered a not guilty plea to every accusation.

According to the charges, the two bombed the Wawa Military Cantonment in Niger State, received training in improvised explosives and weapons handling, abducted security personnel, including an immigration officer and a customs officer who were later killed, and obtained millions of naira in ransom payments to buy weapons and train followers in Sudan and Mali.

In the proceedings on Wednesday, defense attorney B. In order to enable access for the trial, I. Bakum asked that the defendants be moved to a correctional facility; however, DSS counsel David Kaswe objected, citing procedural restrictions.

Justice Nwite ordered the defense to adhere to the correct procedure when obtaining access to their clients and postponed the case to January 15, 2026.

BREAKING: Tinubu Postpones G20, AU-EU Summit Trips, Issues Fresh Directives to Military and Police

0

The planned trip to Luanda, Angola, and Johannesburg, South Africa, has been postponed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was reportedly done while he awaited additional security briefings regarding the abduction of Kebbi schoolgirls and the assault on worshippers of the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.

In a statement on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, revealed this.

President Tinubu has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State in response to the governor’s request. He has also instructed the police to pursue the bandits who attacked worshippers.

Recall that Tinubu was supposed to depart Abuja today to attend the 20th G20 Summit of South African leaders before traveling to Luanda to attend the 7th AU-EU Summit.

President Tinubu chose to postpone his trip after being alarmed by the security lapses in Kebbi State and the bandits’ attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku on Monday.

He is still awaiting reports on the incident in Kwara from the Department of State Services and the police, as well as from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi in sympathy.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his order to the security services to do all within their power to free the 24 schoolgirls who were kidnapped by the bandits and return them home safely.

Court Fixes January 15 as Trial Date for Suspected Ansaru Commanders

0

The terrorism trial of two suspected Ansaru sect leaders, Mahmud Usman and Abubakar Abba, will begin on January 15, 2026, according to the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Judge Emeka Nwite postponed the trial, which was originally scheduled to start on Wednesday, after defense attorney B. I. Bakum informed the court that he had not received the accusations and supporting documentation from the Department of State Services (DSS), where the defendants are presently detained.

Additionally, Bakum said that his clients’ current incarceration at the DSS facility restricts their access and trial preparation, so he asked the court to compel their transfer to a penitentiary facility.

David Kaswe, an Assistant Director at the Federal Ministry of Justice and DSS attorney, disagreed with the action, arguing that the trial should go forward since prosecution witnesses were already in court.

Noting that the defense had not yet submitted such letters, Kaswe contended that the DSS follows an established system requiring written requests before counsel may access detainees.

He asked the court to order Bakum to follow DSS guidelines and include the prosecution in all future correspondence.

In a succinct decision, Justice Nwite ruled that the defense must be allowed enough time to examine the case file in order for the hearing to be fair.

The judge decided that “counsel must have adequate access to their clients and study the evidence before trial can begin” before rescheduling the start date to January 15, 2026.

In order to facilitate access, he directed the defense to write formally to the DSS and to include the prosecution in all correspondence.

Usman and Abba are charged with 32 counts that include terrorism, financing of terrorism, kidnapping, manufacturing of weapons, illegal mining, and connection to overseas terror networks.

Usman, whose real name is Abu Bara’a, admitted guilt to Count 10, an economic felony associated with illicit mining, but disputed the other 31 counts. To every charge, Abba entered a not guilty plea.

Usman was given a 15-year prison sentence in September for engaging in illicit mining and using the money he made to purchase weapons for kidnapping and terrorism.

The defendants committed several offenses between 2015 and 2024, according to the DSS, including:

bombing Niger State’s Wawa Military Camp

Training in firearms in Sudan and Mali

Making homemade explosives (IEDs)

Security personnel being abducted

financing terrorism using money obtained through illicit mining

Ansaru fighter training and operations coordination

The prosecution claims that millions of naira obtained through illicit mining were utilized to purchase weapons, ammunition, and IED components.

Between May and July of 2025, both suspects were apprehended through intelligence-led operations.

Ansaru, a Boko Haram offshoot group, has been connected to a number of high-profile incidents, such as assaults on military units and kidnappings of foreigners.
