Loyalists of Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola have expressed their displeasure with some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State’s Alimosho local government area.
Members of Alimosho LGA took to the streets with banners, posters, and coffins bearing ‘Rest in Peace’ inscriptions for Aregbesola following the announcement of the primary election in Osun State on Sunday, pledging their allegiance to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State and the party’s national leader.

Members of the Ilesa-East Local Government Area in Osun State, from which Aregbesola hails, took to the streets of Ilesa to declare their unwavering support for the minister.
‘Aregbesola will reach the promised land,’ ‘God will continue to protect Aregbesola,’ ‘Ogbeni is a patriot,’ ‘Aregbesola is a mover and shaker of politics,’ ‘Adesoji Aregbesola carry go joor,’ and ‘We identify with Rafiu Aregbesola and celebrate him,’ among other things, were written on their placards.
During a press conference at Oranmiyan House in Ilesa, former deputy chairman of the Osun State APC and leader of the Ilesa-East LG, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, stated that those opposed to Aregbesola are unaware of his rise and will remain unaware of it.
Aregbesola will not leave the APC, according to Adesiji, and his political career will not be buried.
He threatened that if anything happened to the minister, those responsible would be held accountable.
“We are willing to accompany him to war and fight on his behalf against any adversary.” “In the face of any diabolical attack, we will use everything at our disposal to defend one (or any) of our own,” he said.
In an interview with Elder Adebiyi Adelowo, the chairman of The Osun Progressives, TOP, and former State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Elder Adebiyi Adelowo stated that the party members in Osun believe in Aregbesola and his ideals because he served the state honorably as governor and cannot be ridiculed.
“Those who are putting on that show in Lagos should come to Osun and see for themselves how much we love him here,” he said. He was a great help to us in Osun. Not only did he build good roads and road networks, but he also maintained them. We didn’t have massive food production like we do now, but we did have massive food sharing.
“They will not be able to bring Rauf down.” He is only going to get better. As our leader, he will live a long time. We are not blindly following him; we believe in what we accomplished for Osun.
If those in Alimosho do not recognize his worth, we in Osun, including the President who appointed him as a minister, do.

“We won’t fight by ourselves; he has people in his ward to support him.” Aregbesola is a powerful figure in Alimosho’s local government, but he is not a local leader. He is a minister in the federal government.
“No one can compel him to leave the party.” Coffins are not carried by Muslims. It was carried by those who were carrying their coffins.”
