Patrick Kehinde Longe, the commissioner of police in Osun State, has been called for an immediate transfer by the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

The party announced this on Wednesday in Osogbo at a press conference.

It claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, supported criminals in the State.

The Osun PDP and Governor Ademola Adeleke were not favored by the Osun Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling, according to Tajudeen Lawal, the acting Osun APC chairman, who was speaking in place of the party’s Director of Media and Information Kola Olabisi.
“If the Adeleke-sponsored thugs were not killing, maiming or attacking our members in the various towns and villages in the State, the handlers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would be organizing sponsored protests within the State and outside, as far as Abuja in order to whip up a false sentiment that their sacked governor whom the tribunal had affirmed forgery of school documents against, is a saint.

The young and old members of the Ede Political Dynasty-aligned Osun State PDP faction have made it their duty and past time to denigrate the judiciary by calling the governorship tribunal members derogatory names and making unproven accusations against them. That is not the direction we are going in because the PDP and the judiciary are at odds, he said.

In order to prevent them from voting in the upcoming general elections, Lawal claimed that the majority of their members in the Atakunmosa East local government area of the State have been driven out of the town and had their properties willfully destroyed by alleged PDP thugs.
To avoid political attacks, he said, “some of our members are currently hibernating and squatting in Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Osogbo and other towns.”

Lawal referred to the assault on February 2, 2023, in the Irewole Local Government Council Area, which resulted in Saheed Oyegunju’s death.

The PDP in the State made plans with the police to arrest some of its leaders, according to information the party revealed it had at its disposal.

Akindele Adekunle, the caretaker chairman of the Osun PDP, responded by claiming that CP Longe had not been biased in favor of the PDP as claimed by the APC.

He added that APC members were the ones attacking PDP members in the State, dispelling the claim that APC members were attacked by PDP members.
In the meantime, CP Longe had stated that he was performing his duties in a professional manner and that cases of attacks by political parties were being looked into.
