In a letter to HE Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo expressed his heartfelt congratulations on the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into law.
The passage of the bill into national law, according to the Secretary General, is a significant milestone for Nigeria’s oil industry and a historic achievement for Buhari’s presidency.

“With the stroke of a pen, you have ushered in a new era for the industry, after years of legislative efforts to strengthen the petroleum sector’s legal, regulatory, fiscal, and governance framework. Indeed, the new law will improve the Nigerian petroleum industry’s reputation, attract new investment, and strengthen its position in meeting the world’s growing energy demand,” Barkindo said.
