The Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Council area of Ekiti State, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, has stated that the essence of his coronation anniversary celebration was peace, security, and the growth witnessed in the community in the previous year.
Nothing like killings, abductions, or life-threatening heinous crimes have been reported in the community since Oba Ajakaiye’s ascension to the throne, according to Oba Ajakaiye, who attributed this to the water-tight security arrangement in place.
“Apart from the uplift which the palace has witnessed in the last one year, we have been networking with our sons and daughters at home and in the Diasporas, and the result is all over the place in the town,” the traditional ruler said at a press briefing heralding activities for his weeklong one year coronation celebrations, which will begin on Monday.
“Thanks to our sons and daughters, we’ve lit up the town’s heart with solar-powered street lights. This has made the town appealing at night and served as a deterrent to criminals who might otherwise hide in the dark to carry out their nefarious activities,” Oba Ajakaiye said.

“We are witnessing a new dimension to obaship in our town,” Arije said. In addition to the palace’s facelift, Kabiyesi has facilitated infrastructure, including the donation of five motorized bore holes by locals, support for the establishment of LCDA and the equipping of its Secretariat, and ensuring that the town’s only bank was reopened six months after it was attacked by armed robbers.”
Free medical and surgical missions, traditional displays, the launch of the N500 million Palace Development Fund, and the conferral of chieftaincy titles on some eminent personalities, including indigenes, are among the activities planned for the coronation anniversary, according to Arije.
The Oluyin-in-Council scribe urged the town’s sons and daughters to always contribute their quotas to the development of Iyin Ekiti, both at home and abroad.
