Two security guards have been taken into custody by the Ogun State police command for allegedly lighting a 44-year-old man named Basiru Aliu on fire in Agura Sabo, Sagamu, the state’s Sagamu district.
Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, provided this information in a statement that was acquired on Wednesday.
The statement claims that when the victim was assisting his employer in moving his possessions from his old home to a new one in Ijokun, the suspects Segun Sodiya and Segun Abatan thought he was a thief.
According to Odutola, the victim was brutally assaulted by the security personnel, who also allegedly lit him on fire.
She revealed that the victim’s employer, Fatai Ifekoya, had informed the command about the occurrence.
According to Odutola, at around seven in the morning on Monday, Aliu was assisting his boss, Fatai Ifekoya, with moving possessions from his old home to a new location in Ijokun.

“Sodiya and Abatan, security officers working for one of the residents, Kingsley Nwabueze, allegedly brutally beat Aliu while he was performing the duty early on Monday.
“Believing Aliu was attempting to steal the goods he was transporting for his employer, the two allegedly poured a flammable substance on him and set him on fire,” she added.
Odutola urged residents to report suspicious activities to the police instead of resorting to violence, even as he stated that the suspects had been taken into custody and would be charged with attempted murder.
