Nnamdi Nwangwu, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State, has claimed that the state governor, Willie Obiano, has pushed the state back 20 years.
Obiano “scores zero” in human/capital development, infrastructural development, and economic development, among other key indices of a performance index, according to Nwangwu.

On Friday, he spoke with our correspondent in Awka, denying the existence of any faction within the state PDP, insisting that the party is one, led by Chief Ndubuisi Nwogbo.
“The Obiano administration had pushed Anambra State back 20 years,” he said. The governor performed poorly in terms of human and capital development, infrastructure, and the economy. In fact, the state lacks any critical infrastructure that would be appropriate for a state like Anambra.
“Tourists have taken over our roads, and we’re at their mercy.” Perhaps he has done his best, so we expect Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s incoming government to pick up where we left off in 2014, before Obiano took over.
“He must put in place the infrastructure that will allow private people to enter the economy and grow it.”

“From day one, Soludo must hit the ground running, because there is a lot of work to be done in the state, and the people of Anambra will not accept any excuse for failure.”
He went on to say that the PDP was not contesting the governorship election results in the state because it wanted to “let sleeping dogs lie.”
Speaking about the PDP’s zoning arrangement for the 2023 presidential election, Nwangwu said that while the party has not zoned anything to any particular zone, people are saying that the South-East should produce the party’s presidential candidate and that a South-East person should be president in 2023 out of fairness.
“Yes, Chief Raymond Dokpesi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar came to Anambra State to consult on the presidency in 2023 and 2027,” he said.
“Whatever they have decided to do is their own personal arrangement because the PDP has yet to take a position on how the presidential election should be conducted.”

“Just because someone has come to tell us one thing or the other doesn’t mean the party has made a decision; there will be processes to go through before a presidential candidate emerges.” And now we’ll see what happens and who emerges as the presidential candidate during that process.
“We already have two South-East candidates, Senator Pius Anyim Pius and Chief Sam Ohuabunwa, who have declared for the presidency under the PDP.”
