Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was honored by the Northern Governors Forum on his 85th birthday.
In a statement released on Saturday, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State and Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, said that at 85, President Obasanjo continues to offer wise counsel to leaders at all levels and participate in national dialogue aimed at addressing insecurity, poverty, disease, and intolerance.

The Northern Governors Forum appreciates President Obasanjo’s fatherly counsel and personal interventions in finding lasting solutions to insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the Northern Region, according to the statement, which describes him as a nationalist and passionate leader whose patriotism is paramount.
He added that the former President has never hidden his belief in Nigeria’s unity, oneness, and indivisibility, and has thus continued to encourage the younger generation to be positive and avoid actions that undermine national unity, peace, and development.

The statement wished him good health and God’s protection for many more years, and urged him to never stop speaking out for a better Nigeria.
