In an attempt to combat the nation’s escalating security issue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has promised to seize cars with tinted lenses.
The announcement was made Tuesday at a press conference held at the command’s Abuja headquarters by Commissioner of Police CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu. He asserts that “tinted glasses are contributing to a lot of lawlessness in the country” and that no one has the right to tint car windows.
Disu clarified that all business cars and those that tint their vehicles are being targeted by the police. According to him, the police “need to see people in their vehicles.” He gave examples of rescued abduction victims who said that others couldn’t tell they were in danger because of their tinted spectacles.

The commissioner also pointed out that a lot of offenders purposefully avoid having numbers on their cars or cover their license plates. This serves as a warning to all FCT citizens that police will now enforce all regulations pertaining to tinted spectacles. “No one has the right to tint their car,” he said.
