Nigeria’s national eight-team league, the Super Eight (8) of which will be played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Enugu State, Southeastern Nigeria, will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi “Gburugburu” of the State government is pleased to declare that the Premier One cricket tournament will be held at the multi-purpose 22,000 capacity Stadium, Azikiwe Stadium, in Uyo, named after the first President of Nigeria, Dr. Benjamin Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Eight NNL clubs will try to grab four available NPFL entry tickets over the course of five days, which begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 and last through Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the “Cathedral” Stadium.
The teams from group B2 in the Southern conference are expected to arrive in Jos on Sunday, September 5, 2021, with Gombe United FC, El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri, Niger Tornadoes FC, DMD FC of Borno, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, and Ekiti United.
The play-off draw will take place on Monday, September 6th, 2021 with the first game the following day.
While being applauded by all the participants in the match, NNL Chairman and US Senator Distinguished Oluyemi Ogba praises the Enugu State government and the governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for playing host to the Play Off.
To ensure that Governor Uwaganyi’s tremendous passion for sports is best utilized to benefit Nigerian youths, Senator Ogba, who is also the Chairman of the Senate House Committee on Sports, said the moment demonstrated by Governor Uwaganyi demonstrated how dedicated he is to developing and empowering the youth of Nigeria through the power of football.

This is a huge endorsement for our burgeoning NNL, which is the most important domestic football league in Nigeria, and has proven to be a very difficult season for me thus far. However, with perseverance, Ogba promised he can only get better in the future.
NNL’s former chairman, Hon. Chidi Ofo-Okenwa, will be Enugu’s guest of honor once again as NNL comes to town for the second time.
