NLC commends Gov. Eno as Akwa Ibom verification reveals 2,000 ghost workers

Governor Umo Eno has received commendation from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Akwa Ibom State chapter, for the effective physical verification of civil servants, which has so far uncovered more than 2,000 ghost workers.

During an interview on Tuesday’s Super Breakfast Show, “The Talk,” on XL106.9FM, NLC State Secretary Comrade Alpha Marshall revealed this.

According to Comrade Marshall, little more than 51,700 civil servants have been confirmed out of the 55,120 that were listed before to the process.

The verification report is presently prepared for submission to the Governor, he added, characterizing the process as smooth and open.

Marshall stated that plans are underway to reschedule the exercise for federal personnel who have not yet been validated because of things like incorrect information on their National Identification Number (NIN).

He made it clear that this would not cause a delay in Governor Eno receiving the verification report.

Additionally, the NLC Secretary praised Governor Eno for keeping his word and conveyed confidence that the reviewed report will clear the path for the increased minimum wage to be paid.

Governor Eno had previously promised to begin paying all state public employees a minimum wage of N80,000 as soon as the physical verification process was finished, beginning in November 2024.
