Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has compared Nigerian elections and campaigns to going to battle.
For security considerations, Governor Aiyedatiwa reportedly claimed he did not accompany his wife, Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, to campaign events.
The governor said in an interview with Channels TV on Monday that his wife attended his swearing-in ceremony for a second term because it was a post-war celebration.
However, he noted that his wife was at home planning everything and praying for him while he was out in the open during his campaign.
“I can also tell you that I was there with my deputy and all of our supporters during the campaign years,” he said. Remember, though, that your wife is not present in the studio with you right now. That, in my opinion, is at work. Additionally, you don’t bring your wife to work. She was back home at the time, most likely praying for us as we ran around the block on a campaign. However, she was present for the formal event today. Therefore, I’m not sure what you truly mean when you say that. However, you do not bring your wife to the front lines of battle while you are working there. You are aware that the election in this region of the world is akin to a war. Thus, no soldier brings his spouse to the front lines of battle. They remain at home, praying and taking care of everything. However, they will appear when he arrives after the war, following the ceremony.
