According to the Defense Headquarters, 70 terrorists and their leaders were killed by Operation Hadin Kai forces during a clearance operation at the Timbuktu Triangle, a terrorist enclave in Borno.
In a statement released on Sunday, Edward Buba, the head of Defense Media Operations, stated that the military had begun a three-pronged assault on January 16 with the goal of eliminating the terrorist within the triangle.
Major-general Mr. Buba said that during the clearance operations, the troops documented multiple contacts with terrorists, leading to the deaths of nearly 70 of them, including three prominent commanders.
He claims that Talha, a Terrorist Special Forces Commander; Malam Umar, a Terrorist Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, a Terrorist Brigade Commander, were among the terrorist commanders eliminated.
To prevent soldiers from advancing and attacking, the terrorists used Person Bourne Improvised Explosive Devices (suicide bombers), Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Devices (suicide bombers in explosive vehicles), and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during the operations.
“Multiple terrorist attempts were thwarted by troops who were already familiar with the terrorist tactics, including shooting down the terrorists’ amateur drones,” he claimed.

However, Mr. Buba declared that 22 soldiers lost their lives as a result of the operations, while numerous others were injured.
Because of this, the media is prohibited from releasing the names of troop victims in order to provide their next of kin official notice.
“Overall, the operation is still going on, and the public will be informed of any new developments as they happen,” he continued.
