Reports of a potential increase in the price of petrol at the pump have been denied by the retail division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
According to THEWILL, independent oil marketers have warned that the price of gasoline at the pump could rise by another N680 to N720 per litre if the dollar stays between N910 and N950.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) issued a warning on Monday that if the price of petrol continues to rise, the entire country would go on indefinite strike.
However, the retail division of the NNPCL asked customers to ignore rumours of any future increases in the price of petrol in a tweet sent on Monday night to its official X (previously Twitter) profile.
Dear valued customers, NNPCL Retail values your business and we do not plan to raise our PMS pump pricing, as has been widely reported.
“Please shop at our NNPCL retail stations across the country for the best products at the lowest prices.”
