Nigerian Breweries Plc has stated that Mr. Asue Ighodalo, the chairman, has resigned, altering the makeup of the board of directors.

This was announced to the Nigerian Exchange Ltd. on Friday in Lagos by the company secretary, Mr. Uaboi Agbebaku.

According to Agbebaku, Ighodalo notified the business of his intention to step down and volunteer for public service.

In accordance with good corporate governance, he announced that Ighodalo would step down as chairman and from the board on December 31, 2023.
Ighodalo, according to Agbebaku, expressed mixed feelings about the choice, describing it as a difficult sacrifice that would allow him to devote himself fully to the new cause.

“I humbly announce my resignation from the position of Chairman of the Board of Nigerian Breweries Plc, effective December 31, 2023.

“After giving it some thought, I have chosen to volunteer to serve my beloved country in the public sector.

“I am proud to have been a part of such a strong organization that is prepared to take on opportunities and overcome obstacles in Nigeria’s dynamic business environment,” he remarked.
In addition, Agbebaku declared that Sijbe Hiemstra, the longest-serving director, will serve as the company’s temporary chairman beginning on January 1, 2024, until a permanent chairman is chosen.

The board also announces Stella Ojekwe-Onyejeli’s nomination as a non-executive director, beginning January 1, 2023, to cover a vacancy on the board.

“Ojekwe-Onyejeli is a qualified risk manager who has years of experience on the board. She has worked in the financial services industry and has a proven track record in enterprise risk management, internal auditing, business planning, and analytical abilities.
