Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande, a former minister of state for information and communication, has called for the selection of Idris Wase, the deputy speaker, as the 10th Assembly’s speaker.
Nakande urged the electors of the North Central House of Representatives to support Ahmed Idris Wase in a statement on Wednesday.
The former Minister urged the zone’s members to put an end to their fighting and instead choose the deputy speaker and work to have him elected speaker of the 10th Assembly.
He said, “From 1999 to 2007, the North Central zone received unanimous support for Haruna Abubakar and Ibrahim Mantu for the position of deputy senate president.

“In 2007, when it was decided that the North Central should hold the senate presidency, zone leaders decided that Senator David Mark, who was the most senior, should hold it. When he returned in 2011, there was essentially no opposition to him from senators from the zone.
“In a similar vein, we supported Ahmed Idris Wase’s bid for deputy speaker in 2019. His doors are still open to everyone, and he has assisted many in rising. We therefore cannot think of anyone better to serve as speaker of the 10th Assembly.
