Nigeria Signs MOU with Cuba for Science, Technology Development

Sen. Kashim Shettima, the vice president of Nigeria, led the team to the G77+China summit. The two nations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further their cooperation in the fields of innovation, science, and technology.

The highlight of Nigeria’s involvement at the meeting was the signing ceremony that took place on Saturday at Hotel Palco La Habana during the G77+China meeting.

According to The Nigerian, the Federal Government of Nigeria was represented by the signature of Uche G. Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology.

The Minister thanked President Bola Tinubu for his inspiring leadership, which led to the signing of the MOU, after it was formally signed.

He reaffirmed that Nigeria would take full use of the prospects presented by the bilateral agreement while emphasizing the start of the deal’s implementation.

He declared his intention to set up the proper system for figuring out the specifics of the action plan.

The vice president emphasized that South-South cooperation is highly valued in Nigeria as a tool for advancing the global South’s sustainable development.

The two countries’ collaboration would be strengthened by the bilateral agreement, which would put a strong emphasis on R&D and human resource development.

The bilateral agreement covers the following areas of cooperation: biotechnology, scientific research and innovation, technical advancement, human resource development, expert exchange in the field of science and technology, and technology transfer for developing countries.

It should be recalled that prior to the Summit, Sen. Kashim Shettima, the Vice President, had informed the Vice President of Cuba during his visit to him that Nigeria would take advantage of the Summit’s opportunity to sign a very significant MOU with Cuba for agricultural, scientific, and technological development.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Adamu Lamuwa, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cuba, Amb. Ben Okoyen, and other top government officials were there for the historic occasion.
