Nigeria records 859 COVID-19 infections, two people died On Monday

On Monday, 859 people in Nigeria became infected with the COVID-19 virus.

On the same day, the virus claimed the lives of two people in the country.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced on Tuesday that Monday’s figures brought the total number of infections in the country to 238,420, with 3,024 deaths.

The two deaths were reported in the Federal Capital Territory, bringing the total death toll in Nigeria’s capital city to 234.

Lagos State led the 859 infections on Monday, with 555 victims, up from 401 on Sunday.

On Monday, the FCT recorded 57 cases, while Plateau recorded 26.

Edo recorded 41 infections, Ondo State 34, Kwara 23 infections, Kano State 18, Ogun State 16 infections, and Enugu State 11 infections.

Six cases were reported in Oyo State, five in Delta, and three in Bauchi and Bayelsa, respectively.

As of Monday, the number of active cases in the country had risen to 22,586 and 212,770 victims had been treated and discharged from hospitals, according to the NCDC.

Since the virus’s announcement on Feb. 27, 2020, Nigeria has tested 3,823,309 samples, according to the report.
